Ohh thanks for sharing the links, off to look at them
Sounds like you enjoyed your day,
Oven here as well!
What's happening in your neck of the woods?Chat with friend!
Love the pics Ann, especially the cauliflower and cabbage in with the annuals !! Great idea.
My cousin was visiting her son in Juneau at the same time you were there, she's starting to think about moving there, but, she breeds and shows Shelties so it's one of those 'sounds like a good idea, but...'
41C here .. unreal .. but, as my brother says, 'you don't have to shovel humidity' !!
Forgot to ask how our Alberta Ann is doing too .. am thinking she's busy with her gardening/greenhouse.
Learned today that my classmate/friend who retired to High River lost EVERYTHING .. gone .. they had left AB for Kenora ON to stay at their summer home the day before the flood hit .. they've been back, but she said it is just too heart breaking,AND, a $700,000. home and the insurance will NOT cover flooding by overland water .. very distressing. Many people have simply walked away from their homes, defaulting on their mortgages. AND, there have been suicides as well.
So .. best get a move on .. busy day tomorrow.
Toodles
~M~
Wonderful pictures, prayers continue.
Off to have my heart seen to
Ciao
M
Here's hoping you come back with good news "M"
Susan, are you still having difficulties resulting from your fall? miss you
Wow, say today will be the hotest day of the week, Greg dropped in last night and I was going on and on, gave me the evil eye and said, 'and you planned a trip to NewOrleans/St.Louis/Branson/Nashville in two weeks with temps hotter than here? no sense you complaining, get used to it" KIDS
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr .. got to the hospital .. signed in ... told to wait .. a recptionist approaches me after 15 minutes .. did I not realize that the appt was for 9:30PM !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well .. I had rec'd a digitalized phonecall from the hosp last evening CONFIRMING my 9:15 AM appt .. not only did I hear it, bit, so did Lorna .. course, the message is long gone !!!!
Well I was some furious, but, the woman was just 'the messenger' .. no use ragging on her .. so ... home we came, now, back for 2pm for the physio class, then home again, then back for the echocardiogram ..
I am so annoyed, but, trying to remain positive !!!!!
It hit 41C here yesterday, and, today may be a repeat .. shal we say SULTRY !!!
Off to lay down and calm down !
~M~
for goodness sakes, big sigh, sending hugs today, looks like you will need them.
~M~ & Betty Thanks for looking out for me - my knee is fine. so's my job hunting.
Don't think we'll be able to afford to go camping again this year, with both of us out of work. Had to speak to a friend to get $$ to cover bills........
~M~ - I know some of the stuff re: High River, however I am sending prayers to your friend - I know why insurance co's aren't paying for the repairs etc. The insured would have signed off on flood insurance for overland, cuz High River is just that - high river on low lying areas, and has been flooded many times in the past. So sorry to hear about suicides.......
A friend of ours told me about their friend who not only lost their home in High River, but also lost one in Cochrane - the other town that was hard hit, NW of Calgary.
HUGE sigh here Betty, but, also a HUGE smile because we have heard from Susan.
Went to the 2pm physio class, basically telling us what to do following sugery, exercises, how to move the gagets you need to live daay to day without causing undo stress on the new joint.
WELL .. the class had been changed to 1pm .. no one informed ME .. so Gord and I walked into a classroom of people at 1:45pm .. I started to cry, between that and the morning appt error i was fit to be tied ..
Anyway .. it all worked out, the physiotherapist came back after the class left, and gave me a one on one .. it was actually nice ..
BACK tonight for the echocardiogram .. and, I am DONE until surgery on Monday !!
VERY humid here .. could NEVER live in or near the rainforest !!!
~M~
Drats just wasn't your day "M", no wonder you burst into tears!!! I'd have thrown something and I don't throw anything! You are almost there...
Susan, sorry to hear things have not improved for you financially, surely a job is out there somewhere for you and Bob, we can only pray there is. Sending hugs..
(((((Hugs)))))) Marilyn - so much for you to take in....
We have good friends here, in Calgary, and one gave us $300 to help with the bills.
I applied to Suncor today (PetroCan) - it's the same building where Bob does work, for TriBuild lol wouldn't it be funny if we went to work together, at same hours?
btw - the DG page is looking awful - I dumped my cache, logged out, etc and still I have to scroll to the right to see everything - big white space to the left and everything is truncated - where it used to be 2 lines it's now 3, and the column widths are narrower with the letters spilling out of the columns...
Suggestions anyone?
Say they are working on the glitches Susan, just takes awhile! So Bob is working??
Always nice to have someone you can turn to when in need Susan, glad your friends were able to help out.wonderful they have the means of doing so...
I forsee better days ahead for you Susan ....
As for the Daves site .. seems everytime I logon something has changed .. glitches I guess ..
Getting ready for our THIRD trip into the city, better not be ANY glitches with this one or I'm likely to blow a fuse !!!!
Have a nice evening (33C)
~M~
Hope all goes well"M" can understand your frustration
All went well with the echocardiogram. The young lady who did it was so nice. Kept looking at her wondering how old she was.
Actually saw an ultra sound image of my heart, made me feel kinda squidgy so I didn't look that much, could hear it though.
Gordon and I went for a Tlmmies after, I think I'm calming down a bit.
BFF is coming out for tea today, we haven't seen each other in over 2 months. I can hardly wait for a good gab and a laugh.
HUGE thunderstorm passed through during the night, I was sound asleep, all of a sudden Piper was on my head!! So had to cuddle him for the duration, fell asleep with him in my arms.
Not sure if that broke the humidity or not.
You'll be glad of that air conditioning Betty. Keep ours set at 73F. When we first got it we had it set far too low.
You'll find your perfect setting :)
Have a great day everyone
M
Morning all,
Had mine set at 70, thrilled with not having to deal with the heat even though they are saying high temps will cease on the weekend..I'll be ready for the next though.
Sailor, like Piper (poor dear) would have been finding a place under the bed to hide, howling all the while, sure do miss her.
Thankfully all went well for you "M", smilling here, the older I get the younger those attending to us are, likely they are not!
have fun with your girlfriend, is just what you need today.
Somebody sen me an email when DG is readable again. This latest change is the last straw. Makes we really regret renewing my membership.
Have to admit its gotten sort of squished, especially the forums ..
Waiting for Jo to arrive, and, wouldn't you know it, we have a thunderstorm passing through, so, I am prcariously balancing Piper on my lap in the wheelchair, now, if that ain't devotion to an animal, I don't know what is LoL.
Gord and Lorna have gone to town .. they both find Jo a bit too gabby for them .. I'm used to it of course, after 50 years it's just a part of her I find kind of endearing .. her Mom and Gramma were the same, so, she comes by it honestly.
Ooops, power flicked .. best send this off ..
~M~
no, Bob's not working yet - may be another month..... dunno
Yes, it's great to have friends like that.
busy day today - cya L8tr......
Is Bob laid off due to the flood ?
Sure do hope work is found, you both are such good people with a wonderful work ethic, hard to find nowadays ..
Had a wonderful visit with Jo .. shed some tears (mostly me), she is my steadfast supporter where this surgery is concerned ..
Holy doodle, talk about copious amounts of rain and LOUD claps of thunder, am thinking it's heading your way Betty.
Corrie on tap ^_^
~M~
Sure wish you would send me some rain, losing gardens, heavy fines if caught using water!
Sometimes "M" it does one good to shed a tear with a friend..glad you spent some time with her.
Sure wish they would hurry up and fix dg..not taking into account older people like me who isn't computer literate, start talking about going into system to change things..no can do
Evening all,
Not quite sure where my day went, but it did manage to go. Lol
Yikes, ne heck of a storm passed through the area late afternoon, trees down on my street, thankfully I just have leaves to rake, branches and lawn furniture ..sooo could have been worse.
Susan, what did you get up to today?
"M" you counting the days before surgery vs sheep to fall asleep..am almost anxious for you to have it so that you can get back to your regular schedule pain free.
Update on the twins from Ann:
"just an update to let you know how things are. Addy had surgery yesterday to repair holes in her bowel so is now at Sick Kids. She is holding her own.
Alex is stable and they are upping his feedings to 3 cc's of milk every 4 hours. Things are still very much up and down but everyone is handling things as best as we can."
Happy Saturday!
Thanks for the update on the twins Betty, they sure are fighters, although poor Addison appears to have the rougher road right now.
They both remain in my thoughts and prayers as does Ann.
I try NOT to think about the surgery, but it's tough.
Will be starting to gather the things for my bag today.
My admission time is 7:15am Monday, I'll be a wreck.
But my hip has been awfully uncomfortable the last 24 hours, even the pain medication is becoming ineffective.
WOW. Sounds as though southern Ontario got hammered in some locales.
Haven't heard from Lorna's parents yet, they call at 10am each morning.
Have decided against going to the 25th anniversary party this afternoon.
It's humid, again, and, truthfully, I just don't have it in me to get gussied and go in the wheelchair.
Best think about getting out of bed. Laying here using this tablet is hard on the arms!
Have a stellar day everyone
M
Ann just called, think she's beyond feeling
They were told that Alexandra has had brain bleed and will affect her quality of life
Alexander has blood in the lungs, not doing well
so as the hospitals are across from each other (not a few subway stops as I originally thought) Melissa will stay with Alexandro and Ann with Alexander
Perhaps your not going is for the best "M" you sure wouldn't want to get ill or overdo when the surgery is so near.
yep, just finishing the stained glass lamp then have to get outside and pick up lawn furniture and branches..if not too humid will cut grass and rake
How horrible re the babies .. I'm thinking it's all up to their Guardian Angels now .. and .. they've certainly be working overtime with these 2 wee ones.
I wish them ALL (children' parents and grandparents) the best that can be hoped for.
M
With all the traveling and catching up and working the Music and Beyond Festival, I missed the announcement about the twins and had to go way back to read. Prayers are coming their way, but it sounds as though they will have a tough road ahead of them if they make it. Keeping everyone in my Ts and Ps.
DH was up early this morning to catch a flight to Edmonton. There's a distant cousin celebrating her 90th birthday in Vegreville (where he grew up). He decided to fly out for the weekend and he'll see his cousin who lives in Edmonton too.
I've wasted the entire morning. Time to get dressed for gardening I think since the horrible heat and humidity has cleared.
Afternoon,
Thank you ViAnn, situation re twins gets worse each day..waiting for update from Ann, hopefully there will some good news.
I cannot picture you wasting any time, you are always so organized and a must when you've such a busy schedule.
Am sure DH's cousin was pleased he made it to the celebration.
Been thinking of "M" all, wondering how the surgery went.
Think I might call, either Gord or Lorna should have update!
Nice that the heat wave and high humidity has broke, was hard getting anything done outside, sure played havoc on the gardens.
Just got an update from Ann...
Whatever prayers you are praying, they are working, praise be the Lord.
Alexandro if he continues improving as he has these past few days may have the tubes taken out tomorrow.
Alexandra (Addy) is doing better than the ever expected, holding her own
Again, it's a day to day situation but at least today we've good news.
Ann is coming home in the morning, baring any complications overnight..she will spend a few days at home as she is in need of sleep.
Ann and family thank you for the prayers and concern
I am the lady with updates tonight
Lorna called to say "M" surgery went very well..she got a local after discussing further with doctor. Said the arthritis wasn't a factor and that with physical therapy she should be as good as new
Lorna said "M" was so nervous, shook like a leaf..
now she will be on the mend
Prayers answered!
"Like"
Here is hoping it's a pain free day for you "M"..talked to Lorna, she was so relieved, could hear it in her voice..
Ann just called with a further update:
these angels are called 'micro preemie's
Addy has ostemy bag, Ann says it's larger than her..they cannot feed her for 14 days due to operation she's had..talked about the brain bleed, won't know to what extent so I said, they've been wrong before, might not be anything..she said no the specialists say its a big impact on what will be her capabilities..
Alexandro is having issues with the heart..valve that usually closes when born is not, they will try meds to close it and if not means an operation as the blood is going back into the lungs.
Ann says she sees a big change in Alexandro's growth.
As for Melissa and her SO, they say they are taking one day at a time and will deal with what has to be done for Addy when time comes.

just called Lorna for update on "M"
She is in a lot of pain, only giving her percacet (?)
she did get up and take a few steps today which is a plus
Lorna's not quite sure how she will be coming home on Friday seeing her condition but hospitals are notorious for sending you home only days after the operation.
Lorna says she's really down, just wants home.
Lorna had just asked if she'd heard from us, will let her know of our concerns
no job for me yet.
Bob's still laid off - could be up to a month.
Susan, feel so badly for you..if anyone deserves a break it's you. What are you doing to keep yourself busy?
keeping busy at the church July 1 to 13th. My knee is good, from the fall July 4.
Go to church on Sunday, and bible study on thursday.
Otherwise, trying to find a job.
bob's been working at friend's on their fence.
friends all help with $$. A former boss from Winnipeg came here and took us out for lunch.
Doing mindless stuff around the house.
Have some quilt centers to work on - best get to it.
Maybe sewing will take your mind off things..here is hoping things improve.
yeah, just found another center - have 4 to work on now...
Yahoo, I am home
All went well, having a fair amount of discomfort, this too shall pass
Lots of exercises to do 3-4 times a day
Many thanks for thoughts and prayers
And thanks Betty for keeping everyone in the loop
Hugs
M
So nice to open a thread and see you posting on it "M"
Surgery is now behind you..from the sounds of it, you were in a tremendous amount of pain, still as bad??
Nothing like being home is there.
Bet Gord and Lorna are like two mother hens watching you every move.
Excercize yes but no more than you should. Would imagine you could do damage if you did..
Waiting for an update when you are feeling better.
Busy day with physiotherapy and nursing in to assess me.
Feeling better, less pain and up more.
Arthritic pain is gone!! Goodbye. :)
Phoned and left a message for you om Friday Betty, hope I called the correct number.
All in all a better day
M
