last photo are containers waiting to become works of art lol hypertufa mushrooms, what I will do with all these mushrooms is beyond me..they seem an endless project! gifts I guess
not sure you can see the zillions of tadpoles in this secondary pond, hope they all wonder off to new homes.
Not the easiest to post when you have a friend that wants to cuddle
What's happening in your neck of the woods?Chat with friend!
Love the pics Betty .. so pretty ^_^
Good to hear you're having a wonderful day (at home) to start of the summer, albeit bittersweet because of your Auntie.
LOL .. love the pussers .. I find Smokey likes the laptop because it's WARM .. not too crazy about him sleeping ON it when it's closed, but, he tends to sleep to the side where the fan is ..
I have pics to share, but, getting to the gizmos needed to upload them is just a bit tricky, and, Gord took his cell with him this morning, he has the most pics of the beds and flowers.
Enjoying a cuppa, then have some tidying up to do before Lorna's folks arrive ..
Have a stellar day everyone, and, anyone from the Western provinces who might be passing through, STAY SAFE !!
~M~
Talk about missing Susan !! I called my friend in Calgary last evening and she was just a bundle of nerves .. she was in an area
on the ready' for evacuation, but felt she wouldn't be .. she had been out to have a look around her area and was just shocked at the devastation ...
I have watched some footage, am happy to be here in TBay!
Last day for the visit .. BBQ in the offing under cloudy skies ..
Enjoy your weekend
~M~
Morning all,
Will have to go look at footage of Calgary, lord did say there would be such devastation if mankind didn't change their ways, entire planet is experiencing overwhelming difficulties!
So today your company leaves 'M'..sad day for Lorna I'm sure.
Darlene had her garage sale yesterday, weather held out for her thankfully. Another few weeks and she will start an entirely new life..new home on the river in Coldwater, winters in Florida..still has the worry of her mom but lots to look forward to. Glad for her.
Playing lazy this morning, nothing planned for my day, trying to think of how I would like to fill my day, am sure I shall come up with something, even if it's tidying up my craft room and cupboards or clean a bit and play in the gardens.
Might try and get that BBQ going. Lol. Now that is being desperate
Yep,we were up at 4am, Lorna and Gordon drove in and picked up her car and the parents. It was quite foggy.
We should be hearing from them soon, lorna's brother picks them up at the airport and drives them home to King City.
Oop... They just called.
Watching clips of the Calgary disaster. Horrible. Feel so bad for those affected.
Too bad Susan isn't online, I worry about her and Bob.
Dreary day, gonna rest.
Wonderful news about. Darlene. :)

Just got in, Greg picked me up on the spider and off to Midland to Dairy queen..doesn't seem that many years ago I was taking him now he is taking me lol
Had a storm blow through, less than 1/2 hr,almost seems like it could rain again
All and all, nice weekend considering what they were calling for.
Happy birthday June..
Glorious sunny warm day here, well take it.
Hope you enjoyed the ride with Greg, Lorna looked at one of those Spyders, but it would have been kinda difficult for her. The video we watched sure looked like fun.
Going to have a slow day, suits me. Lorna is off to the prosthetist for a fitting, they've booked her for 2 hours.
Hope everyone has a good week.
M
Susan posted on facebook
apparently had to be rescued if the girls relayed the story correctly by hellicopter, not sure what's happened to their rv
she'll post when she has a sec
Well it's good to know she's ok,i have been rather concerned.
Thanks for the info Betty
M
Dang me! Are there ever lots of Susan MacKenzie on facebook.
The one I did find wasn't our Susan, but she lives in Calgary, has 2 puppies
That told me it was the wrong Susan, course I could be spelling it incorrectly.
M
Yes, correct spelling
it's one of the girls that came on one of the threads that provided me with this info..lets hope she checks in later.
93F out there
85F here, air conditioning is on for the first time.
I Dmailed Susan .. Course if there is no power it won't be answered.
Spoke with my bud in Calgary today, things are still sinking in. Luckily her home was spared, but friends of hers weren't as fortunate.
Mosquitoes are becoming a big problem.
M
Another hot summers day here. We topped out at 29C yesterday, and will head that way again today.
I see Toronto was close to 40C!
Heard from Susan :)
Suffice to say, and happily, she and her husband are ok. I'll let her tell the story of their rescue.
Love the air conditioning. But it sure bothers my hip :(
Keep. Cool
M
Popping in to say that I have started to post (some) in the General Discussion and chat forum.
Didn't want anyone passing by to think I had dropped off this forum .. just seems to be a bit more chit chat on the other forum, and, since I spend a LOT of time twiddling my thumbs, it's nice to chit chat back and forth. LOTS of new people too.
I see Susan hasn't posted on here. If you go to the General Discussion and chat, you can see her pics of her helicopter adventure.
So glad she and Bob are OK and that their home is as well.

I'm here "M", love seeing you on other threads but know I'm only as far as the keyboard all day.
Shoulder / neck giving me the what for. Thank goodness for heat pads you buy at dollar store, trying to keep painkillers at a minimum.
Kyle's grade 12 graduation is tomorrow night...where did all the years go? Now a college boy, proud of him.
Caleb and Braedon leave on Friday for summer up north of Algonquin..52 days in the Wilkerson, portage after portage..
Traditionally I take the boys away each year, harder and harder seeing they now work, travel etc...guess grandma and grandson roadtrips are all over..wearing sad face at that!
Don't like the new changes at DG and I got my renewal notice this morning. I may not be around much longer.
Have been using this tablet so much that the changes have not been as noticeable.
I sure hope you do renew Ann,but understand your reason for not doing so if it comes to that.
Personally I would miss your posts and your extensive gardening knowledge.
Betty, memories of past trips with the boys will have see you through. Sad though.
Hope they all have a fun, and, safe summer.
Brooklyn has her first job. A family friend runs a cleaning service for offices. Brooklyn will be working with them 4 evenings a week, 2-3 hours an evening. As she plays on a women's baseball team, I'm not sure how that will pan out.
Overdid it yesterday, paying for it today :(
Beautiful day here
TTFN
M
Sure hope Ann you roll with the changes as I too enjoy your posts, always something so ambitious and interesting !
Viewing on I-pad just I see but one little hitch, am sure as the days go buy they'll fix them..actually I find the set-up is more organized, but that's just me.
Weather is taking on a cooling trend..tomorrow 70 and rain, Satu cloudy and 70, Sunday 73 and cloudy, then rain/rain/rain for the next week. Far preter than what they originally said which was rain for the next 4 days.
Got a lot of projects lined up so that if the weather is bad I can work inside.
Normally I get my grass cut on Thursdays' but with Kyle graduating it will have to wait until the weekend...cannot believe how quickly it grows. Should ad the weeds are growing at same speed.
What do you all have planned for Canada Day weekend, community having events?
Have forgotten to mention Kyle's grad .. WOW ... is he going on to University or College .. time is a flier Betty!
TBay goes ALL OUT for July 1, but, we usually just stay put and get out of everyones way LoL
We always used to be at camp (the cottage) but that's DONE now .. we have lotsa property to futz about on.
On this laptop the Dave's format is OK, but, on my Blackberry playbook things are sort of 'mashed together'.
Can imagine Ottawa is the place to be on July 1st ^-^
~M~
He is going to College in Barrie "M", 45 minute drive and that way he can live at home. Lucky the program (don't ask me which) he wanted to take was available there
Greg just called, told me I had to be ready by 6pm or we'd not get a seat up close so I must not dally in town. Went on my lunch to the bank for $$$ for his graduation card, got the money but couldn't find a card in this mall..have to time to stop so guess it's a regular card I'll have to give him.
We used to take the Foxy Lady for a ride up the trent, with water going down 3 or 4 feet over past 5 years she stays parked as a side lawn ornament at the house, rocks/rocks and more rocks, not good on the bottom end.
You know, I never did take that little camper I bought 3 years ago anywhere, guess it wasn't one of my brightest ideas, should put it on craigslist or tell the grandsons to use if..not sure if Kyle's new to him vehicle has a hitch, know his jeep did..
You sound quite comfy with your acreage "M", no need to go anywhere and fight trafic and people.
Ann, will you be participating in Canada Day Celebrations in Ottawa??
Oh Betty you must just be bursting with pride. Congratulations Kyle!!! Kyle is an excellent example of how someone with learning problems can succeed. He has worked hard and couldn't have done it without your support as well as his parents. Enjoy yourself tonight Betty... looking forward to some photos.
M your surgery isn't in July is it? Smart nurse you are to be concerned about blood clots. Good for you. Lots of people just give in to the pain but I can see you are not. I have RA and I always say of I am going to hurt I might as well hurt for a reason. My DH could never see the logic of that but it makes perfect sense to me.
My new cleaning lady starts on July 2. I am beyond excited!! She even said she isn't worried about getting down the lane in the winter and if it was too bad she would come by snow machine. Woo Hooo!!!
Need to walk Diesel or as I call it 'dodge the bugs'.
Dianne
Congratulations to Kyle.
Betty - no Canada Day celebrations this year, but I'll be able to take in 4th of July in Anchorage.
I find that they've made enough changes that I'll likely stay. At least the scrolling isn't so bad anymore. I'd still like BLACK font colour.
Morning all, we must have had one heck of a storm move in early morning, everything is laying on the ground..not wearing my usual happy face.
Lucky you ViAnn getting in an Alaska visit, how long will you be there? Enjoy and remember t post a few Photo's.
"M" how is it going in your neck of the woods..
Kyle's graduation went well, over 225 graduating..parents/grandparents sat for 3 he's in a gym with no a/c but well worth it.drats, took photo's and left my camera in Greg's truck when I got out so will have to wait till this evening to get it then shall post a few photo's
Didn't get to visit with Kyle for too long seeing he and friends were off to Owen Sound to Kyle's grandparents cottage for the weekend. No longer a boy, somehow he's turned into a young man!
Not sure if it's cool enough out there to turn a/c off and open the windows and let fresh air in. Not a lot I can do outside today with it being so wet so I will work on that quilt for the wedding and see if I can salvage it, not likely!!
Enjoy your trip north Ann, should be a nice time, especially the July 4th celebrations.
So glad to hear you are staying with us. I'd have missed you a lot.
Betty, the thunderstorm likely came from my neck of the woods as we had another dandy during the afternoon.
No damage caused...Whew.
Gotta love non air conditioned gyms....NOT..
I can imagine it was quite nice and Kyle is happy to be done and moving on.
Dianne, the dang bugs here could carry you away... Blackflies are the worst..making life difficult for the wildlife, deer and moose and bears are running onto roadways and being hit by vehicles.
Have been watching news coverage, online, from High River Alberta... The residents are getting hostile with the RCMP not allowing them back to their homes. Some homes have been entered by RCMP, and firearms have been confiscated. Not a good thing.
Off to shower
M
Dianne, I told Melanie and Greg just how proud I was of them, Melanie did much fighting, researching, getting funding to meet all of Kyle's needs..was heartbreaking many a day, not easy as a family having someone with Asperghers..something he will have to deal with for the rest of his life but what great strides he's made, excelled at his co-op, will work the summer and part time while in college at same company, girlfriend (oh did I forget to tell you that-she's a sweetie) hard to believe.
it must have been one heck of a storm, lots of flowers down, sun is in and out, not sure what it wants to do.
Canada Day Celebrations are happening at the Community Center which their tents are a few lots from my back yard, all tree'd of course but I will be hearing all the bands tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night. I'll not go, just want to take it easy this weekend seeing the next month will be super busy.
Oh "M" going to have to catch the news, bound to be some tempers flaring...omg how overwhelming many must be.
hungry, think I will call over and order fries to keep me till supper time..guest I should contemplate doing groceries today, ahhh tomorrow will do!
Morning all,
Batting 100 this morning, waited until 10 to go cut grass seeing the neighborhood was so quiet this morning..many must have celebrated hhpard because many cars were left parked along the road, smart people, finding alternate transportation when drinking...forgot to shut down rider properly, battery dead as a door nail..ok that won't deter me, went to start the self propelled I bought at end of season last year and had serviced a few weeks ago, won't start.
Thinking someone is telling me ot to cut grass. Lol
Had to take the quilt that was on the frame off due to sending the husqvarna sewing machine back to Florida, main computer board went and now I'm struggling to get the quilt done without wrinkles on the back.
Hope your day is more enjoyable..having family over?
Betty, I do indeed think you are not to cut the grass!
Lorna is going to have a go at ours, good day for it as it's windy and cool was to be 80+but the North wind will lower that expectation.
Had intended to spend time outside, but am reconsidering. Brrrrr
Just spoke with Murray, he had been at the home of Austin's classmate (12) who died yesterday..it certainly does appear to have been a suicide, can't fathom it..would imagine more information will be forthcoming, but the bottom line won't change, Leah is gone. Austin is inconsolable right now, Murray and Alison were going camping with the kids and have canceled that.
At times like this, this hip problem really cheeses me off,I'd like to see the kids, likely Murray will come by.
Poor Sailor, here's hoping there's no loud noises over the rainbow bridge. Piper just needs human interaction when the fireworks start. Usually closing the windows and turning up the TV or radio does enough.
Guess I'll read some
M
What terrible news "M" you have to wonder what co us have been so overwhelming for a 12 year old to have had no hope and dine such a think..those poor parents!
Am sure Austin's loss is the first real loss he's had to experience.
Can always go camping another time..just so sad
Hooe you get to hughim as he will need it
Murray and family will be here today.
I am going to help Alison with the eulogy.
Leah was a beautiful little girl, but, chubby, she was apparently being made fun of by a group of other children.
I find this all so hard to comprehend.
Growing up in these times is very difficult, and, children are seemingly forced to make decisions that are not necessarily correct.
Advertising and social media shoulder a lot of the blame.
Anyway, looks to be a gorgeous day here. 25-29C. Sunny
Have a BBQ planned, then it'll be close the windows in case of fireworks. Thankfully we have central air
How's the quilt coming Betty?
Enjoy your day
M
"M" hooe those kids who made fun of her realize their part in this death and that it stays with them forever. Prayer for the family..can't even comprehend how they must be feeling. How very very tragic.
Will be difficult doing the eulogy, what can one possibly say.
Glad your family will be with you today...sense of family is what they need right now
In the high 60's today, nice breeze but talk about damp, know where everyone of my bones are..aching like crazy
As for the quilt, likely a few hours left for quilting then I can sit and do binding..will be glad to have that projects behind me.
Greg came and put charger on the riding lawnmower, by noon the grass should be dry enough to cut, at least I'm hoping so..
happy Canada Day everyone..
Same to you Betty.
Canada is 146 years old!
Family arriving around noon. Sadly, still working on the eulogy. Need a copy of the obituary and the parents are having a difficult time with that. Murray and Alison have been with them from the git go. I think they're both more than a little overwhelmed.
Gorgeous day here, Lorna has a prosthetist appointment. He took Thursday and Friday off and opted to work the holiday.
Enjoy your day :)
M
Glad they have your support "M"
Well that's different isn't it..is Lorna still having problems?
Called Walmart and home depot, wasn't sure they would be open but are..seeing as all my yard work is done I will take a quick run in and home to put my feet up and enjoy rest of afternoon.
Happy Canada Day everyone! M I had no idea it was our 146 BD until I heard it on the news. It really sunk in when I read your post. Wonder if there will be a big splash for our country's 150 BD?
My sincerest sympathy to your DGS and his friend's parents. How sad that something like your weight at such a young age would cause such angst that suicide seemed like the only answer. The first year I taught 1 of the Gr 8 boys committed suicide - hung himself - the third week of school. It was a senior public so was wall to wall hormones and all emotions were at their highest peak and those poor kids were devastated. Turns out the young lad's girlfriend had dumped him for the start athlete of the school. Hoping that your DGS's time with you today will provide him with some comfort.
Well the fireworks on the lakes have started. The official fireworks display for the community does not start until 10 pm. Diesel isn't quite sure what to make of it all. I am just ignoring him but he has jumped up on the bed and laid his head on my legs.
Betty how are you feeling now? Pain any better ?
Dianne
Well, all the worrying about the fireworks was for nothing. Not even a pop out this way. Guess Saturday and Sunday nights suited people better?
Dianne, throughout all this, I have learned that 'kids can be cruel ', cruel enough to cause a slightly chubby little girl, an only child, to end her life.
My son and his wife are having difficulty coming to grips with the fact that the principal had been approached by the parents, and said there was nothing she could do about it.
All in all, a real tragedy.
Got a dentist appointment for July 4th in the afternoon. Then, if he can fix the tooth, he's going to do it Friday.
Gordon turns 65 on Saturday, and loses his dental coverage with the city of. Thunder Bay:(
We have purchased Follow Me insurance to cover us, mostly me as I am younger than Gordon and would be uncovered for a few years, but, we didn't take the dental type, opted for the one that covers drugs. May have to change that!
Best get moving, Lorna had a good appointment yesterday, and is raring to get going on this new leg. Finally a better fit!!

M
Evening,
ooops wanted to say 'M' that my thoughts/prayers were with you all today.
All must be so overwhelmed..
It was a day .. Murray and Alison are exhausted, and, the kids are emotionally bereft.
AND, found out that Leah's Great Uncle (her Dad's uncle) passed away 3 hours after Leah! He was ill, guess it just hit him hard.
Am attaching a pic of Murray and family (taken by Alison) before they left for the funeral .. as always, Brooklyn (like me) is barefoot.
Dental appt today at 2:45pm .. if he can rebuild the tooth, I go back tomorrrow at noon, fingers crossed he can .. have decided all the 'gritting of teeth' I have been doing is the culprit.
Beautiful weather here .. 25-28C the last few days, MAY get rain on the weekend, gardens are flourishing.
Wondering where Susan has disappeared to, and, if ViAnn is back, and how AlbertaAnn is making out, I see Betty and Dianne on the other forum when I pop by there ..
HAPPY JULY th :-)
~M~
Morning,
Rained on my way into Barrie, say we'll have much the same for the next 3 or 4 days, hope sunshine has headed your way.
That poor family, so much to deal with..luckily they've had support of good friends!
Beautiful family "M"
Hardest part for those parents is watching Leah's friends grow up and wonder what would have been.
Was Leah an only child?
Not sure but I think perhaps Susan might have gone to pick up their RV..haven't seen her around...
Wasn't Vi-Ann on vacation all week in Alaska?
TGIF eberyone ^_^
I know ViAnn said she was spending July 4th in Alaska .. funny thing is, that's where my cousin is right now visitng her son and family who live outside Juneau. BettyJane is the woman who raises and breeds Shelties .. Carol knew of her .. often wonder if she has ever run into Sharon at a show .. BettyJane Flanagan Dalgarnoch Kennels.
Yes, Leah was an only child .. the funeral was tough, even tougher now as Murray and Alison have been asked to clean out their home and stage it for selling .. luckily Murray is on holidays, altho, he is finding it difficult.
Just hope Susan is OK ..
Off and wheeling
~M~
Mind cannot even comprehend how they must be feeling. An only child, omg!!!
Think Murray and family will need a holiday after this holiday..are there no other neighbors and friends who could all go help to make the task easier?
where are they staying now?
will ask Sharon, imagine breeders stick with participants of their breeds. Sharon was telling me a friend travelled from Wisconsin to a show in Texas, while Sharon was here she got a text that the dog did poorly. would be disappointing for sue.
