It's June..
Lordy, we no sooner got rid of snow and frost and now it's rain/rain and more rain!
Thanks for the reminder "M" keep forgetting to start new thread.
We moved from here:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1307030/
Lordy it's hard to get anything done, sunshine one minute, sooo humid then a few minutes later raining!
Sifted peat moss for an hour for a batch of mushrooms, wanted to take another set with me tomorrow to the city for ex DIL but doubtful they will be ready, guess I could look around the yard and see what I could put together then when I make another set I can replace what I took.
Worked pulling leaves and the skitters are beyond bad with this humidity so gave that up, came inside. Thinking I'd go downstairs and sew but my eyes are getting heavy, may as well have a nap...problem with that is it will do me in and no other work will get done.
"M" was up half the night watching news, don't know how that are can take much more..prayers going out to them.
How are you doing today with new meds, still drowsy?

What's happening in your neck of the woods?Chat with friend!
Thanks for the move Betty :)
I shudder to think about Oklahoma and the surrounding States. Prayers for them as always.
We have had ONE relatively humid day, right now the furnace is on!
I ha to call my doctor at home yesterday. He decreased the dosage of the drug. These pills cannot be split as they are time released. The lower dose is better, but it only dulls the pain.
Hop your able to come up with something for the gift.
Gordon went to Murray and Alison bday party last evening. No way I can do all the stairs in their home.
Time to trundle off to the shower, a task of major proportions.

M
Good morning. I found you over here. Spent 3 hours at church gardening yesterday and came home and spent another 3 1/2 hours in my own garden. A bit stiff today. So no more gardening for the day. Bells play this morning and I have an orchestra rehearsal this evening.
Morning all..
It's deciding between rain/sunshine, sooo humid.
Did my hair is its flat as a pancake and I haven't left the house.
Leaving shortly for the city yuk but my youngest grandson has his confirmation this morning, then I will visit with my sister for a bit and homeward bound.
Ann you've a full day planned again today, please tell, do you ever take a day where you just sit, feet up and enjoy the beauty of your gardens!
Enjoy your day..
Frost last night and expected again tonight... Unreal
Had an unexpected, but, wonderful visit from the nursing students I mentored in the past 2 years.
They graduated from the University here yesterday. They were pretty emotional when they realized I was in a wheelchair.
We had a nice chat. One is going on for her Masters, and, Donald is going up north to be a paramedic. I foresee exciting futures for both of them.
Time for me to have a nap.
M
Lordy, what a change in the weather, should have worn my snowmobile suit..hard to believe!
Glad you had a hand in making those careers, looks as though they are going you proud.
Just made hot chocolate, now a hot bath so I can warm up..
Imagine, shut the a /c to turn on the heat.
Please if some of the perennial experts could look at this thread and give suggestions I'd be ever so grateful : http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1316046/
Frost warnings have been canceled as of tonight.
The pansies Lorna planted survived.
Not much happening here. I am going to attempt to get outside in the wheelchair at some point today.

M
Morning everyone, sun is out but still cold..55F but it says it feels like 51F..imagine complaining, could be a blizzard out there..
Lilypon, sure wish I knew more about plants so I could help out..I love gardening just not into specifics of plants, smilling here, I'm lucky to know a hosta/rose/lily etc
"M" saw on breakfast television that you might get frost..I've still not purchased container plants, not taking a chance for a week or so more.
Ohmigosh!
After my shower, Gordon pushed me outside.
WOW... He and Lorna here done a fabulous job with the property.
The lawns are mowed and trimmed.. A 3-4 hour chore.. And the pansies and Impatiens look wonderful, I almost cried, they're trying so hard to make me feel better. I appreciate it all,but I just wish this huge HICCUP in my life was over.
Have some pivotal appointments coming up, fingers crossed.
M
Our fingers are crossed right there with you "M"
Fact of the matter is you've always been there for Lorna's trials and tribulations and felt wonderful knowing you were helping her, as for Gord, I'm sure the same so they feel good helping you out through this 'hiccup'
Don't fret and enjoy, you will soon be running races around them
Quiet in this forum, can imagine everyone is out enjoying the rain or the nice temps, happily for Thunder Bay, it's the nice temps :-)
From the looks of the extended forecast we'll be in the low to mis 20s for several days.
Yards are a sea of yellow, gotta love dandilions LoL
Lorna mows every 2 days to try and stay ahead, I don't say anything, she so enjoys being outside and doing yard work.
Every so often get wheeled out and I get to enjoy the fruits of her labour :-)
Supposedly a quiet weekend coming up, but, that can change at a moments notice ..
I'm home alone this morning, Gord is off to his usual Sportsman's club Friday thing, and Lorna beetled into town for a haircut and to get some movies .. so .. it's just myself and the animals who have yet to understand WHY I am in the wheelchair LoL
Hope all are well
~M~
Afternoon all,
Dreary day out there, everything is so damp and cold, wind isnt helping..still calling for more rain (rained till early morning)!
Working from home, so quiet..furries are purring away, deep sleep, making me want to join them..
Have errands to run in town, imagine, couldn't get spot to remove snow tires so on my way at 3pm..Lordy I should keep them on, almost time for winter, at least the weather here makes one feel it's just around the corner..
Ann's daughter almost lost the rewinds yesterday, managed to get her in, they did sew her cervix? Did another procedure n hope of prolonging the pregnancy..Melissa is at 21 weeks so will be heading home, only getting up for washroom and getting tea. Praying everything goes well and Ann get to grandma a little boy and girl...
I joined a few swaps on- line, so this week I've been busy making gifts of Red/White/Blue..hoping to get 2 swaps sent out Monday along with a round robin I just got, needed specialty fabric for it, found some Sunday so best I push myself and get that done as well.
Guess "M" it's movie and popcorn night for you, Lorna and Gord.
Sounds much the same here.. I have Netflix and movie cable so will not have to pick movies up.
Susan are you away camping?? Still doing Friday night movies at the church??
Gab in a bit

Another sunshine day here, with a projected temperature of 25C am thinking no humidex.
I can hear lawnmowers working away, and I take it some trees are being felled somewhere near by as I can also hear a chainsaw.
The birds are twittering away, and one of the many squirrels is scolding the dogs for having the audacity to be outside!
Lorna is going to wash her car and my SUV.
Hopefully I'll get outside a bit later, not quite up to it right now. Last night was 'pill night ' so am feeling a bit off.
Betty, the movie was awful. The latest Bruce Willis 'Die Hard' flick. The movie had some subtitles :(. Small writing and on screen for just seconds. Too much violence for me. Tonight it's the newest James Bond, Sky Fall, hopefully a little better.
Sure do hope your friend's daughter is able to make it further along into her pregnancy. Stressful times.
Guess I'll read a couple of chapters of my book
Ciao
M
mush the same here 'M'..was gloomy this a.m. but it's 60 right now and. I'm inside sewing, not for long though, do want to do the trimming, fix a section of the small pond, make a few sets of hypertufa mushrooms..figure by now the skitters will be in hidding.
yesterday I ducked to miss a low handing tree limb, I won't cut it because it makes the area more secluded, must has knocked my good glasses off my head, went in search of them when I realized they were missing, oh oh I ran over them with the riding lawnmower. This morning Greg dropped in, said he'd bring them to friends of their who was having a grand opening in her vision center, within an hour back he was, between both of them they fixed what i thought could not be good for anything bar the garbage bin..i'm just thrilled..
I love Bruce Willis action movies..the one you watched, was it the one where his daughter is taken???
well, probably an hour to finish the tote bag I'm making for a swap that I want to mail Monday so am off and running
hope everyone is enjoying their day..
Susan???
Whoa, good for Greg and his friend. Glasses are not cheap!
Is your head okay after hitting the branch?
The Bruce Willis movie was done in Russia. The Russian diplomat in it had his daughter kidnapped, but, in the end, she ended up being the bad guy.
Was outside for an hour or two yesterday, very nice. Planning on getting out again today.
Am also where Susan is,maybe camping?
Enjoy your day
M
Morning,
Sure is a nice one out there..
Finished my 2 swap projects, they are ready to ship in the a.m., likely I will not join another till fall, just too busy. Went out at 10:00, just came in for a drink and it's back outside , too nice to be inside.
Am sure you are enjoying sunshine as well, few rays will certainly help.
Better not get comfy here or that will be the end. Lol
Gab in a bit
LOL, I hear ya on the not getting comfy!
I am resting just now prior to supper. Have stayed up most of the day, however, the black flies have been horrible.
Gordon is bbqing steaks right now and I am off to make a salad.
Good to hear your swap items are made Betty.
I best move out of horizontal
M
Made it till late afternoon, now horizontal and doubt I will do anything else.
Must be tired, am chilled, might cuddle under a blankie.
Well, Gordon outdid himself with the steak. I have to admit he's becoming quite an efficient chef :)
Makes me feel better prior to the arrival of lorna's parents. I know I will be laying down much of the time, but if I tell Gordon what to prepare and how to do it, he can.
Lots of rain overnight, and, obviously thunder as I awoke with Piper trying to snuggle in beside me. He is such a dear heart .. I held him and talked softly to him and both he and I finally got back to sleep.
Still raining, but I'm going to venture out after 1pm to get a haircut..going shorter as I have no tolerance for fussing with longer hair anymore, besides, the methotrexate I take on Fridays has thinned my hair significantly, sigh,I used to have such thick hair.
Watched the new James Bond movie 'Sky Fall ' last night. It was actually quite good..can't say as I like the new James, I'm a Sean Connery fan :)
Just now awaiting the arrival of the septic pump pumper outter guy, always a thrill, NOT! We have the tank pumped every 3 years. Incredible how quickly those 3 years go by.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week
M
Morning, also having few drops of rain this morning, suppose to rain all day tomorrow..oh happy days..it's that kind of spring!
I haven't had a steak in sooo long. Bought a bbq a few years ago, venture to say it hasn't been used more than 3 or 4 times, should check propane and buy a steak, maybe I too can become a bbq chef??
I'm with you on the hair, had mine cut shorter, need a perm so she didn't want to cut too short but as soon as it's permed a cut it will have..easy is what I'm looking for.
I'm pain'ing this morning, of course I couldn't make 2 trips with the parcels I had out to mail this a.m.
just had to try and make in one load..fell down back deck stairs, pulled some muscles, bit black/blue/red, hurts when I breath so will sit in office chair and do nothing.
Ohmigosh Betty !! Hope you haven't cracked a rib or two, if you aren't feeling less breathless by the end of the day, I would suggest an xray to make sure all is OK. Very painful, I know that.
We use the BBQ quite a bit .. does such a good job on chicken !!!
Trying to grapple with a 'shorter do' .. l have typically had shoulder length or longer .. we'll see what happens, all I know is i am not strong enough to stand and use curling irons/flat irons/hot rollers etc .. that said, I sure do know that shorter hair means (can result in) 'cowlicks' .. go to bed and wake up with sticky uppy stuff .. ahhh well .. if that's ALL I have to worry about in life, I'm doing Ok ^_^
Sure curious as to how Susan is doing. Perhaps she has started a new job ? All I can do is think good thoughts ..
Off to get ready to get out in the rain !
~M~
Cowlicks "M", that's in fashion now, just bits of hair sticking out here and there..might be the 'do' that's just right for you!
Staying quiet, am sure all I've done is pull a few muscles from trying to hang on the the rail..these old bones have more aches/pains than I don't know what.
You've convinced me to get a steak..will check on b.b.q. tonight first to make sure it works
Maybe another SOS call out to Greg..they are thinking of selling their home, bet first thing he considers is move further from mom lol he's a good son, doubt that would be in question.
Not sure what happened to Susan, perhaps just taking a break from us
do hope she is well though
Oh Betty I had to laugh about your BBQ. I bought one about 6 weeks ago and finally BBQd a steak on it last night for dinner.. The last BBQ I had here at home was when Debbie and Paul were here visiting us last July. Love things on the BBQ but it just seems sort of senseless to heat it up just for me. The young man who delivered the new BBQ and took the old one away did ask me what century my old BBQ was made.
M I have been reading along here for months and so understand your pain plus your anxiousness to get going.
Not putting my oars away yet as it appears more rain for tonight and tomorrow. *Sigh* Way back here in the bush it looks like a jungle. I actually had to cut back some branches on one of the paths that Diesel and I take when we walk.
Hope you are feeling better Betty as the afternoon rolls along.
Dianne and Diesel
LoL Dianne .. there's something to be said about getting, and, USING a BBQ.
I tend to make sure it doesn;t sit idle, have found lots of recipes on Pinterest ^_^
Yeppers, I guess I have quite to journey to follow along with going on .. just hope with all my heart NOBODY else has to follow in my tracks
My hairdresser started to cry when she saw me today, and, my dentist, usually a real jokester, treated me with kid gloves ..
Sheesh .. makes a gurl feel kinda weird to say the least.
Our back 40 (mosquito city) is lush and green .. very 'jungle like' .. and more rain is expected here as well overnight .. can imagine I'll have a wee Westie bumm resting on my head LoL
Betty, sure hope your feeling better now .. a bit ?
Off to watch Corrie :-)
~M~
Evening,
My thing Dianne (glad you found your way over) is that Roger was a BBQ king, think I associate him/BBQ as one entity, kind of even after all these years makes me sad...besides, I can burn most things while cooking on the stove, what damage could I do bbq'ing..that being said I'm often in the gardens and smell the most glorious smells from everyones back yard..would it be rude for me to invite myself??
"M" wiped a tear when I read of your experience today, touched the heart your being so loved but saddened how this dreadful health issue moved in so quickly..days can't come quick enough for you to have your surgery..
So what knd of due did you end up with?
Dianne, jungle comes to mind here as well, not sure what chance the shorter plants have when surrounded by jungle growth..not sure I've ever seen it like this, happened so quickly.
Hard for you to be walking those trails with Deisel in one hand and tree branch clippers in the other.
Took more meds as soon as I got home, was in a deep sleep when Greg called, he was on his way to Barrie to deliver Kyle's jeep to new owner, said he'd drop in on his way home and now I'm wide awake. Was almost tempted to tell him I'd be in bed but when kids want to drop best we appreciate it.
Kyle will likely go to the ministry and get his grandparents 2008 put in his name tomorrow. Sold the jeep as he is going to college in Setember and so a lot of highway driving, jeep was a gas guzzler, glad he did it!
Wow, got to be 100 in here, was chilled when I got home so turned fireplace on, now I've got the screen door open, letting skitters in
Should go find something to eat
Aw Betty I so understand about your feelings and the BBQ. I have the same feelings. Warren was the one who manned the BBQ and now in so many ways I don't want to even light it as it brings back such a swell of memories. At least you have neighbours close enough to follow the delicious smell. I am positive they would welcome you with open arms.
LOL M about the Westie on your head. I have a year old 110 lb year old Rottie that favours that spot as well.
Betty when we tromp in the bush Diesel runs free, only on the lane do I leash him. I only leash him then because if he meets someone he wants to share all that love he has in his body and heart. All sorts of doggie kisses to the face are then given freely.
Sweet dreams!
Dianne and Diesel
Not sure what kinda day is instore.
Lorna is dropping off her car to have the muffler replaced, so we'll follow and pick her up, ,since it's out here in the country we're all going to go to one of the large greenhouses to have a look around. I'd like to pick up another hanging basket and Gordon is looking for cabbage plants, and Lorna wants some begonias and tomato plants
Hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew, I'm not usually up and out this early,.
Felt odd when people first saw me yesterday, I cried too.
Just so hope this whole situation resolves soon
Best get. Ready
M
"M" it will, you are almost there, you've been a brave soul..soon it will all be behind you.
Always relaxing walking through nurseries..I'd love to go after work and walk through the Garden Gallery but by the time I get there it would soon close..besides, saving my $$$ for a project and for my August trip..besides, walked through the gardens this morning, I've a jungle look going on, don't know how the smaller plants will get sunshine in order to flower..if not raining tonight I'll be pulling flowers not weeks
think the rain did my peony in
my Roger Plant, first time it's had such a bloom on it, not a wow plant but nice to see it will live
Great pics Betty... Sure is greening up, the Hosta are lovely.
Hope the Peony can shake off the rain! Beautiful shade of pink.
Our trip to the greenhouse was eventful and expensive.
I purchased 4 more hanging baskets..one of deep pink wave petunias, one a lighter pink begonias,a
Mandeville vine, vry deep purple..and a mixed colour basket of pansies.
Since. 'my thing ' for the gardens is ceramic frogs, I bought a cute set of two handsome froggies perched on a welcome rock...will take pics later.
I came into the bedroom to change into gardening clothes, and, poof I am in bed..been pushing my limits. ;(
Dianne, Diesel would have had a fit
A lady was walking in the store with her Great Dane. Very gentle and well behaved.
Nap time
M
Your mind must also be going "M", do you not remember 'small steps/small steps and more small steps..here you are off shopping at a greenhouse lol Glad you know your limits and are off for a nap, even if not a nap just to lay and rest your weary bones..
Baskets sure add to the garden ambiance..
I have to pick one up to put on the pond slate to hide the waterfall..now that I take a different route home I don't pass the greenhouse that I buy those giant planters..might have to take it home tonight or tomorrow night just so I can buy a planter
Nice, Betty. Even better if done with leftovers. :-)
Morning all,
Taking time to have coffee on back deck, sounds of the water feature, the birds chirping, in 70's today, just a perfect kind of day..maybe a sick day? No I'd best save those. Lol
I saw traces of a mouse the other day, bought some seed and read that the mouse when eating goes to water..not so.. Just over my quilting frame in ceiling is the most terrible of odors, so bad i couldn't even quilt last night, wondering what to do? Can't get up there??
So how are your gardens, seeing pretties coming out to say 'hi' daily?
This message was edited Jun 12, 2013 5:48 AM
Oh my Betty, sounds as though you'll have to access the attic?
Time to call in the boys.
The quilt is lovely.
Going to try and launder my summer dresses and hang them on the line to dry. At least I'm going to try.
Sunny day here too
TTFN
M
Not something they would likely want to do..guess I will have to get step ladder, cover the quilting frame so nothing drops on it and see if I can find it..not something I look forward to doing either..yuk
always nice having bedding and clothing out on lines, just that country freshness when they come in.
Soooooo how'd you make out with the wee beastie Betty?
Not saying much about the sundresses. I laundered them, and Gordon, bless his heart, hung them out to dry.
I didn't pay attention, and when he brought them in, he folded them :(
Ah well, maybe a few tumbles around in the dryer will uncrease them. Or, I can iron them.
Beautiful day, had lunch outside on the patio! The breeze kept the bugs away. :)
Off to shower
M
Ps. Hello Susan
Well Gordon was trying his best..yep, tumble in the dryer will make them rinkle free, I always wet a washcloth and throw in, the dampness usually takes what is left of the wrinkles out.
Did not do well with the mouse, think he is getting even with me for giving him that deadly meal..
Did remove a few of the tiles but couldn't see it, I'm going to get some baking powder and set the box up in it, still bad this a.m. but I'm hoping it will lessen in a few days..I've scent hangers all over in that room.
You can tell how badly I wanted the quilt on the frame off, sat there right under the smell and worked for a few hours, this morning I went back and worked another hour, drats was short of about 1/2 hr to be able to take the quilt off the frame. Will finish tonight.
Wanted to do some gardening last night, yikes, those skitters are in the zillions so didn't stay out for but a few minutes. This morning I sat and had coffee out near the pond..was so pretty..
can't believe how large the goats beard is..I divided it in the spring now I have 3 about same size..likely 5'
