Dianne, no I do not have that hosta. I have thought about getting one and seeing if it will grow......then I do see them in the nurseries so they might grow here after all. When I first planted my Blue Mouse Ears the 4 legged beady eye critters (squirrels) were really bad to dig them but I put a tent of fine wire and that stopped. They don't seem to notice them now that they have gotten established......wonder if freshly dug dirt had anything to do with it in the beginning?

You mentioned Kingston and for some reason I am associating that with an Amish market......is there one there? I remember going to one when I lived with my brother and loved the experience.

Mary, I would think you could grow the Mouse Ears there.....google Blue Mouse Ears..they are really adorable..at least to me!! I had hoped to be able to go to the flower show at Epcot this year but with all the work being done on the house and Kim leaving soon for the Dominican Republic it has been put on hold. Next year.

Betty, you have certainly undertaken a hand full with Noah but it is something I think you will never regret. My oldest GD and I are very close and I treasure every second. I can't remember being close to my grandmother....but she wasn't a person you could get close to either. I am so hoping as soon as the craft room is finished that Abbi will come spend some days with me as she has been asking me to help her get back to using her sewing machine. We shall see.

Waving to eveyone..taken care and enjoy the day.

Verona, ON

Wild night of weather last night. Now it is just rainy and windy. Diesel and I run out between rain bursts and attempt to do something. Not that Diesel helped me any but I finally managed to get the 100' hose untangled, wrapped back up and hung where it is supposed to be rather than on that oh so convenient hook on the lawn. Only have 1 screen left to wash and put on. Sure is good to have the breeze blowing through the house.

Safe travels into the city Betty. I would hope that the person that Noah was babysitting for would drive him home.I never would have expected my parents to wait up until who knows when to drive me home from a babysitting job. The ride home is part of the deal in the babysitting package I would have though. There were some couples who liked to party hardy that I would stay overnight and get up with the kids in the am. I got paid lots more money and it wasn't until I got older that I realized what a benefit for the parents it was to have me there when the kids got up.

Marian there is a market in Kingston but it is the pits. I haven't been for years so don't know if it has improved at all. Now London had a fabulous market. One of my favourite memories of it is my parents buying cooked pork hocks, fresh bread, a chunk of cheese and heading off the Springbank Park to eat it. Wonder if you are thinking of the Mennonite/Amish market in nearby ST Jacob's or the Kitchener/Waterloo Market that was predominately made up of M/A vendors. We would occasionally strike off from Woodstick (as I call it) to go to one of those 3 markets. Woodstick had its own market every Sat. am that was excellent. Do you remember the statue of the cow in Woodstock?

LK how are ya faring today? Sending positive thoughts your way.

Debbie house still on it's foundation ? I am assuming you got the rocking and rolling that I did.

Jean was just thinking of you as I changed the Eric Clapton CD for our Joe's. Thank you so much for introducing him to me.

Depsi if you are reading I am sending you positive thoughts and prayers. I hope you will soon feel well enough to join in even if it is just a Yep so we know you are OK.

Sun is out so off I go.

Dianne, it is still rocking and rolling here. Small branches down around yard, picked up a few. I had to run into town to Rite-Aid, and the van was
all over the road with the blowing. The open fields are a mess with the dirt blowing across the road. We do have sunshine.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Dianne, thanks. It was the Kitchener/Waterloo markets. LOL it has been 56 years since I did all of that so my memory is slacking some. Remember the London market well!!! Loved to go there with my brother to shop..standard meal: loaf of bread and some cheese. After I married I was fortunate enough to make several trips to visit my family in London. Took my hubby to the market and his comment:"I'm surprised you came back and married me". He loved the experience too.

Not as hot as it has been in the past few days but still warm. May wait until later to go putter outside awhile.

Happy Birthday Jean! Hope you have a wonderful day!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy Birthday Jean and Happy Graduation to Jake too!!! Hope today is a great one for you Judy and Steve although bittersweet. I found it a bit hard when the last one graduated from high school....
Now you dear friends up in Canada have got to stop this rockin' and rollin' cause you send it all down to me!!!! It is hotter than heck here today but not as bad as yesterday. I hope the temps come down enough for me to open some windows again tomorrow. Stay inside with me Marion!!

Lyndonville, NY

Barb, if you get what we have had.....tomorrow should be MUCH cooler, and the day after, even more so. However, can sure do without
this wind. It is a comfy 75 right now with the breeze blowing through the house.

Happy birthday Jean! Have a wonderful day!

Judy & Steve, thinking of you and sending Happy Graduation wishes to Jake and the family...it takes a team!

Went to Rite Aid and the pharmacist was VERY helpful in finding something to help DD. She actually ate a grilled cheese & soup...first
solid thing since Wednesday.

DH is about 2 hours from home so my peace and quiet will be over soon. Has been rather relaxing to watch movies and what we want, and
nap when needed! lol Sigh.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Happy Birthday Jean. Enjoy to the fullest!

Wow what a day, Jean's birthday, Jakes graduation and Caleb's confirmation. Busy, busy everywhere.

Barb, I will be staying inside with you after all. Just as I got downstairs to go putter in the yard, the skies opened up and we are now getting rain. So I will start sorting through my boxes of fabrics for what I want to keep and for what can find a new home. Just hope I am able to turn loose of some of the things. :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wish I could come and shop at your place Marion!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well come right on!!! You will have to excuse the mess for a while but you are free to come shop for free. :-)

Dianne, as I was working today I came across some things I had kept..rather Ross had kept..from one of our trips. Clarify for me is where you live near a location known for trilobytes?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

Great trip, should have worn my snowmobile suit though, talk about cold!! Was it only yesterday we were having tropical weather??

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thank you ladies...we spent the day at the zoo...one of my favorite things to do, and on the way home we stopped at the nursery so DH could "pick up ant bait"....which he only buys at Walmart cuz it is cheaper....they are so cute when trying to be sneaky....when we walked in, Earl the manager walked up and gave me a hug and wished me a happy b'day....I KNEW something was up.....GRIN. They called one of the guys up to help load the truck....DH got me two trellises, an obelisk for my mandevilla, 2 Nepenthes (pitcher plants) and 2 sarricenas (baby pitcher plants) a watering can/mister for the orchids, a telescoping garden fork and a pair of the gloves with the long cuffs that come up almost to my elbows.....he just beamed and said SEE...I do listen.....GRIN...yes, he did listen.

Judy hugs to you and Steve...and a big hug for Jake for a job well done. Now the fun starts....grin

yes, lots going on today and yesterday was the start of the hurricane season...fingers crossed the weather folks are wrong and the Atlantic and Gulf stay quiet.

Oh, this was my virtual B'day cake from a friend in Buffalo....

Thumbnail by themoonhowl
(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jean, sounds like you had a perfect birthday to me! Love the virtual cake..completely calorie free.

I, also, hope the weather folks are wrong as they are saying Florida is long overdue for a big hit....not!!! My son left Friday on his way to Key West for a week of diving in the Tortugus for the National Parks Service but when I call today to check on mom, he was there visiting. Apparently that part of the state is going to be having some really rough weather and they will not be allowed to dive due to the conditions. What a surprise for his girls when he drives in tonight. I can hear the shouts of joy now. Also very grateful they have rigid restrictions about allowing their people to dive. Government doing something right there. :-)

Well, need to think about something for dinner...thinking chicken craisin salad at the moment.

Victoria Harbour, ON

plans for all so Jeff took me out for lunch, couldn't sit still (who do you think he takes after) told him we'd better go, said mom I'll spend the day with you doing anything you want but can't just sit..lol

So then a trip to a fabric shop that was open a few hours on Sundays..oh happy days, got exactly what I needed for a round robin swap

2. Fabric for round robin, great match right?

Then off to Michael's, nothing I wanted except their plastic containers that hold their flowers, would have been perfect for mushroom stems but couldn't talk them into selling me 3..

Then to fabricland..omg, they had Red/White/Blue fabric so now I can get something made up for my swap buddy..thrilled with that

This morning I met up with Sharon, I was just about to leave and she broke down..after raising her two boys, she married and they adopted 2 girls, 2 yrs. old and a newborn, infact both Sharon and Terry were present for the birth..
She has had trouble with both..the youngest Nikki is as talented as they come, guess Sharon and Terry had to tell her that because of her attitude the money train was stopping..guess Nikki told them what to do with their $$$..
I'm disgusted, truly am..Terry owns a few companies and money is no object..just bought her a new car, paid her university for the year, paid for her apartment, pays her gas, food and entertainment allowance and this is how they are paid back..she decided she doesn't want to continue with her education, wants to focus on writting her music...felt so bad for Sharon, she said 'I've lost my daughter'..
Sharon spoilt her much too much believe me, nothing this child wanted she didn't get..felt bad but had to leave..not before Sharon gave me a paper, Nikki was entertainment for some big event in Orangeville..

girls loved their mushrooms Joyce

Greg just picked up Noah, they are all going for supper at Mel's mom and dad, they are cooking as celebration for Mel's birthday that passed Wednesday. Noah said he slept in till 10:30 and spent the day watching movies.

Betty, I think Caleb favors his Grandma....he is a fine looking young man. Glad all went well and you made it home safely.

Dianne, I am so tickled that you have become a fan of Joe's...truly ear candy that one. I had to laugh, we have a CD player that can hold 5 CDs at a time. Two slots are reserved for Joe and Eric...and a 3rd for the Best of Cream album. DH sometimes complains that they are always in the machine....my response....So what's your point? grin

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy Birthday Jean, sure glad you had a sunshine day..love going to the zoo as well!

Holy whaaaa look at you Mrs. Spoilt, he sure was listening..don't you love it when you get what you hinted for lol

Just made hot chocolate need to warm up, going for a bath, jammies and see what I can do with this fabric I bought..no sewing just a lot of thinking lol

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Betty...actually it rained on us a couple times, but it didn't bother me or the animals...grin

Verona, ON

Happy Birthday Jean. What a lovely surprise from your DH. See they do listen!! lol OMG we have the same 3 artists on our CD player.

Happy Graduation to Jake. Proud momma and dad must be beside themselves with pride and yes relief....

Church have AC Betty as it is not that cold here. In fact I am sweating away here even with the breeze off of the lake. Rain and wind all day but no T and L shows.

I got all the T & L from all of you west of me! What a light show. It got so dark here around 6pm and then the heavens opened up with the loudest thunderboomers!!!!! It was quite a show. Things have calmed down now to just rain but for a while there it was getting pretty scary.
Glad to read of Caleb's confirmation. What a handsome family. And you too Gramma!!!
And so happy to read of your day as well Jean. Sounds like you have a hubby like mine! We are truly lucky.
Diane, I know who Eric is but who is Joe????

Hello All;

Betty - Yes Noah probably sitting for a couple that is partying late... glad they finally got him home. Love the pics with Caleb. Love that they call you Grandma. I always had a Grandma and Grandpa. These Louisiana folks have Maw Maws and paw Paws and Nanas and such I've never heard of LOL......

DEBBIE LOVE YOU DEAR. Thank you but you know I'll always carry that guilt. Glad you got a chance to take in a movie with the child. You had a long day with the laundry and all....(HUGS) hoping things get easier
Marion... re ; the flower show... hope I can find some blue mouse ears on trade.....
Moonie Happy birthday to you ! ♪♫♪♫♪♫ Good for DH for doing something unexpected and happy. WIsh I knew you needed a pitcher plant as someone at the swap I missed in April had given us one and had another to give... You might want to join us in October (if I can go) or next April if your pitcher plant doesnt make it.

(HUGS) Judy... big time in your life right now...

Belle caught a ribbon snake in the yard yesterday. Hubs says it is a beneficial snake although he helped us rid of it. I saw another today. Even if they eat bugs etc. I don't know the benefits if I have a heart attack seeing a snake in my yard.
The yard is teeming with "almost blooms" and I think in 1 or 2 weeks we will be a show to remember. The Hibby's are coming along. We invited everyone over for Fathers Day ...

Hugs to all... I hope your tomorrow is full of good things....

Mary

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Mary, we need pictures of your blooms please?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Can someone please refresh my mind on the ratio of sugar to water for the hummers? They have finally found their way this far north and I want to get my feeders out for them. Thank you.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, where did all the heat go, 45. Right now feeling like 41!

Ohh Mary every time I play near the rocks n the pond I wonder if I will come across one..Belleis a good girl, may she find them all, I'd rather have bugs than snakes.

You are a gluten for punishment Mary, is there no one else that can take over a holiday for you seeng as you've been under so much stress? I know, you will say you so enjoy it and besides someone has to enjoy those gardens.

Nana's are used here, no paws and maws though. Caleb call me grandma Betty.

Judy, hoping you can post photo's of the graduation, how proud you must have been watching the celebration and thinking all your dreams and the life you hope Jacob will have is just a few years ahead.can see Steve standing tall..

Jean - happy belated b-day - what a wonderful hubby who Listens!

Yesterday I was thinking of my own birth son - adopted out as a baby - wish I could see him and wish him a happy birthday........ :-(

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you all, should get my hummingbird feeders filled as well..went to look into the pond to see if any of the fish were floating, nope, unless they are caught between the rocks..fed them anyway! Maybe they are shy..lol

Joyce, Ann has been helping Melissa and her better half to find a house or appt. as Melissa rented out her condo she just bought, wayyyy too small now. Believe Ann is coming home today or tomorrow, get things done then back to the city if needed. Will update as I hear.

Good morning,

Bev, beautiful photo! Oh you have such a gift and eye for beautiful shots.

Mary, what I meant was...I was home, and they still snuck out the bedroom window and got in trouble..while I was here.
I was told by counselor...it ain't you mama...its their strong will and determination to grow, and some times it leads them
the wrong way. I must say, when he told me that I remembered I have a very BAD habit of someone telling me NOT to do something
and I would do it because "you don't own me...will do what I want". Thankfully...I never got in trouble...but that strong stubborn
will can cause issues. My Mom was home 24/7 also! lol HUGS!!!

Betty, DH came home yesterday. Got in about 5:00 and is at work today.

Joyce I think we are in for a chilly week. It is 45 here....high today is 59 they say, and not much better throughout the week. Big
difference from the 90 we had Friday & Saturday.

OK, I have to head to Rochester. Blood work this morning and some errands.

Have a wonderful day....waving to all

Debbie

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

thx Betty - appreciate it

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Barb, make your sugar water with 4 cups water, 1 cup sugar. Heat the water just hot enough to dissolve the sugar, let it cool and fill the clean feeders. DON'T add any coloring, it is not good for the hummers

Betty, I have been eating lots of jello and chicken broth. Not much else! I am waiting for my Dr. to give me a referral then I make the appointment for the specialist. I sure hope I get the referral today!

Verona, ON

My goodness we have been a quiet lot today. Boring day here. Cold and windy. Sun came out about an hour ago.

Jean I was listening to Duke Robillard and Lowell Fulton this afternoon. Couple talented guys! Can't remember if Fulton is still alive or not .... he wrote several songs for Eric Clapton.

Sassy needs food NOW or so she thinks. She has been yakking at me for over an hour that she wants her dinner. Best get it before she fades away to a shadow.

Been busy here with workman coming and going today so not a whole lot of time to be on the computer. Ah but things are getting done..that is what counts.

Had a really bad summer storm move through about an hour ago but still getting rain. Thankfully no more thunder and lightening at the moment.
