Bariolo, straighttalk pix do that. dont rotate em, just edit them and only shave a tiny bit off top or bottom - they are less apt to blurr and willl load into DG right side up.

Janet, the vine is reasonably aggressive and clings by twining. It reached the top of my gate arbor and was looking for something higher. The blooms were sporadic but a pretty pale pink that reminded me of a pea or a snap dragon. It got no help from me which could have been the reason blooms were sporadic. Open and airy, leaving room for other vines on the same arbor. Can't find a pic of the blooms but here is one of the foliage and a seed pod.
Joy have you put a picture on the plant ID forum? Those DGer's are so knowledgeable. I am sure this picture of the bean and vine could get you an ID. I don't remember getting any seeds but I will in the fall. My friend just gave me seeds for a New Zealand Spinach vine. I am soaking them in water and soaking what I think is coral bean seeds. I have so many seeds to plant my head is swimming. David had double carpal tunnel done Friday and can not push pull or lift over 5 lbs. That is probably going to be his job once the stitches come out on Thursday. He loves gardening as much as I do. He was building me an 8ft wide/4ft deep composter. we will be able to lift the fronts out of the front and the one in the middle so we can swap compost from one side to the other. It is awesome looking and as soon as he can...maybe 5 weeks he can finish it. When I learn how to do pics on our new computer I will upload the ones of it as it is now.
A friend had me dig up her airplane plants (they are green in the middle and white on edges). I potted up over a total100 of them and the EE's she gave me. I must have 100+ more of the airplane plant to go. And of course will have them in the fall :) The ee seems to be more runners than bulbs. I know there was around 35 of them I potted.
Joy, the only pest I know of for camellia is scale insect. I had some huge old plants when I lived in Lake Charles, LA and that's the only thing I ever had to deal with.

These are two articles about propagating rose cuttings. The first is a way my grandmother did it and worked every time for her, never for me. The second has an idea they don't have proven but I think is interesting, using a potato.
Thanks for the input everyone.
The orange flowers are in a bunch. They are making new bunches and I'll post a pic when they're blooming.
Janet, Im wondering if you got some of the Mexican Flame Vine that Linda Kaye brought. It has orange daisy like flowers and when I planted mine it stopped blooming in order to make roots. Check out Mexican Flame Vine on plant files and see if that is what you have.

Is this what you have?
Wow I am in love with that.....
THAT'S IT!!! Well, I'm so excited! It's beautiful. But now I have to really look around to see where I can plant it for future growth. Looks like it gets pretty big. I imagine it can be cut back to the size you'd like though. Yes? And who is the lovely person who gave me this?? :)
I had several that I gave away at the round up, glad you like it. Yes they will get big!
Wow can we start our trade and want list now? ROTFLOL
Bariolio, it is a vining plant. Ive had one before and lost it in the freeze of 2009. It will cover a large trellis and look gorgeous. Please dont cut it back.
Okee, dokey! Now I have 2 vines that need a place to climb! Maybe my 2 oaks in the front yard??
Joy you had a huge white plastic container I have been meaning to ask you if it is for rain water or what? cur5iousminds have to know :) and where did you get it as I collect 5-7 gallon buckets of rain all around my house. Would love to know where I could find an inexpensive one. Thanks
Sandy,
My water tank is about 500 gallons and I use my son's four wheeler trailer to move it when we have to water areas that don't have hose access. Inexpensive is relative, I traded for mine years ago on a whim, and now am glad I did. Here is a link to a guy in Hitchcock that has some for what I consider very reasonable. I have a small battery operated water pump that I use to speed up filling other containers. I got mine at Harbor Freight on sale for $30.

His price seems very reasonable to me but I have only priced the big ones and they are pricey.
Joy,
Thanks for that link. I could water my whole garden with one full tank at 275 gallons. Probably set it up in the side yard on a stand. My only concern is pressure enough to reach approximately 100 ft. from the tank.
Is this what the pump does? Create pressure?
Linda
Yes, the motor turns, creating a vacuum on one side, and the water rushes forward to fill the space. There are all kinds of pumps, submersible, sump, recirculating, etc. all kinds of pricing as well. This is a low end marine pump that can handle getting wet if left out in the elements. I had to do a little piping to reduce the opening of the container to water hose size, and had to modify a hose by changing the male fitting out to a female fitting. I use a 15' hose on the tank and then a 100' hose on the other end of the little pump. You get one speed, and shouldn't try to cut down the amount of water coming out of the hose because the back pressure will tear up the pump. They make more expensive ones that can dial back pressure but I didn't need it. Doesn't work well with soaker hoses, too much back pressure on the pump. Gravity works well too, once you get the siphon started and you can trim it back to a trickle without the pump.
Just remember how much 300 gallons of water weighs, ~2400#.
http://www.harborfreight.com/12-volt-marine-utility-pump-9576.html
wow.....
Milk weighs 8.5# to a gal- water weighs 8# to a gall. We weigh diesel in at 8.5# to a gal too
ya'll had a real exciting roundup! Lots of critters!
Have you SEEN anything on it? Are those tomatoes under it? I dont think that is pokeweed, and the army worms like pigweeds and amaranths normally before anything else.
It looks like Pokeweed to me, but I could be wrong, don,t know what might be eating it, could be grasshoppers.
host to giant leopard moth says google. I think it looks like pokeweed as well.
My guess would be pill bugs or crickets. They are masters at hiding
Ok, just walked out there and saw one small, long vertically striped caterpillar on a leaf. Haven't seen pill bugs ever here, I know they can hide but the amount of damage to only one plant would suggest that I would see some wandering around. Don't have a single problem with anything on my little tomato or anything else.
Just took a couple pics with my iPad which isn't worth a darn for pics I don't care what Apple says.
When I get back inside I will see if I can find them. Cabbage looper came to mind when I saw it but my brain isn't always right.
I don't know what it is, but I found one on something in my garden yesterday and gave it to one of my hens as a treat.
That's either an army worm or a type of cutworm. Cringe if it's an army worm, because they live up to their name -- there won't be just one -- there'll be a whole ARMY of them, and they can decimate you overnight!
I had those on my tomatoes. Two applications of Bt did the trick... Make sure you drench the leaves to the point of run-off, especially on the UNDERsides of the leaves.
I have pokeweed all over my yard and it sure looks like one to me. As to what eats it the birds love the berries when they are ripe. Something will strip mine all but the veins in the leaves but I have never seen the critter that did that so can't answer that question and don't know what that critter is in your pictures.
Who gave me the amaryllis at the RU?
If it is beautiful I did if not wasn't me....Just joking it wasn't me :)
We always said that about food we made...not taking credit if it tastes bad :) Sure can't wait till fall :)
I have a new grandson (Gwyneth's new baby brother (Heath Grayson) 8lbs 4 oz and 20 inches long born May 31. He is a real doll :)
Kit what are those beautiful flowers?

Peonies, rose colored. If I remember right the other is a Globemallow. They are mine to babysit til I get them to Mn. I'll get full names when I drop them into Menards and Lowes in the areas around Minneapolis and St Paul. The guys were laughin while I was taking pictures and ooohing...
It is so not fair that I can't grow either English walnuts or peonies. Enjoy.
Joy, I think Carey had amaryllis bulbs?
Hmmm, maybe. I have one or two that I have planted in my front beds and they are so happy. I have never planted an amaryllis before so I am thrilled.
Joy, if they were from the gift exchange, they were from me! I ha 5 named varieties, but the bulbs all got mixed together in storage so I don't know which ones I brought.
They probably won't bloom this year, but should next spring. The two I planted by my front door a couple of years ago finally bloomed this year. Holy moly were they pretty.
'ware the amaryllis! The ones I brought Last year bloomed at 5' hi. Also that Sangria bulb has been spotted with the stalk at the bulb a full 18" wide. Was seen at Arborgate Nursery in Tomball. My dau decided she was planting hers in a different place after seeing that one -NOW she knows why I crowd em. chuckle Also they will pull themselves deeper into the ground with the years and the leaves need every bit of that length they get to. for nex wave of blooms. Ehat color are they blooming?
I don't know what color but it is loving my front bed and the leaves are three feet tall. I also planted one I got from Fruity that I know is white. It was languishing in a pot inside cause I didn't know that they would thrive outside. I also have another one I need an I.D. I will post a picture of it.
