Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon everyone..head is a pounding big time, think it was the white knuckle ride ALL the way home..did a little prayer as we crossed the skyway. I am not sure if driving my smaller vehicle was better than mom's van?? regardless, just starting to get feeling in my hands..you'd be driving and the gusts would almost pick up the car and set into the other lane. Just took something, hope headache eases.

We went to cracker barrel for breakfast and then shopping till just after noon. I must say after all the drama about going and not going that I actually had a lovely visit with mom..there was no negativity, heard her say how nice this was, that was..Lordy she even said maybe we could do it again which means she forgot that this was her last trip. Lol

I stocked up on some fabric for backs of quilts, warm and natural batting and machine quilting thread and a few gadgets for me so I'm all set for a few weekends.

Did manage to meet Sharon at a Timmies for a 1/2 hour, just her and I, got to say my mom is not the nicest to her..anyway, Sharon is leaving for Georkia Tuesday morning for the Nationals..Inuk has won 3 years running..she has Emma who is just shy of 1 year old and hoping she shows well.

Glad you are all safe from the storms, missed you all.

LindaKay off to look at the hotrods..was yours in competition? How did it trailer?

Yikes and double yikes back of my head is coming off

Thanks for worrying about me

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear your home Betty, and that you had a nice visit with our Mom.
The truck handled well on the trailer, and no we did not bring it for competition, just to drive around and show off.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bet it was loads of fun..

Did you get some shopping done?

Decided to come to bed, take more pain killers..keep this up and I will be taking too much but got to settle this head!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, we went to Hobby Lobby, found several pretty fanrics, and some frogs for the swap, then we stopped at a nursery and bought two pretty plants, a blue al,oat lavender hibiscus, and a blue mallow plant. The mallow plant is in the hibiscus family the guy said.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - glad you're home safe & sound. Scary driving for you........... sorry it was so nasty!
Nice you got to meet with Sharon! What a talented lady she is - dogs & quilts, both show winners!

Glad you're back home too, LK!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

what's every one up to???? hope it is something good ^_^

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Not normal not to see Betty on before this. Hope all are okay ....just busy .

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Sure hope she has a Dr.'s appt, to look at her headaches!

Victoria Harbour, ON

here, head resting..I'm fine just quiet

Lyndonville, NY

Back from the cardiologist appointment.

The good news is...Shannon's heart looks healthy and whatever problem we are dealing with, it is not her
heart. SO, deep sigh of relief.

We are on cancellation list for other two appointments (ENT & Oncology) if something opens sooner
than the 15 or 24th.

I need a nap!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - good that you're resting. Wish I were there, I'd give your neck a gentle massage, turn down the lights, and refresh the cold cloth on your neck, forehead and temples.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay Debbie!!!! Great news that Shannon's heart is fine! Now, to hope there are cancellations for the other tests so Shannon can get in earlier!!

I've got a knot in my neck and it's giving me pain and headaches....... just stress re: job search and resume update, I'm sure. Just got up cuz I went back to bed for 3 hours. Didn't get a lot of sleep last night (to bed too late - midnight - and up too early - 4:30).

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's great news Debbie..
Is it tomorrow you go for yours?

Weather Susan plays a great part with headaches and body aches..soon it will be sunshine and we'll forget all about our aches and pains right?

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I don't go back til May for mine.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thought you had one more test to get through..sorry!

Lyndonville, NY

I am waiting for biopsy results, still not in. I have one more appointment with a thoracic surgeon on May 14.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yes, soon it will be true Spring, and summer...... keep that thought in mind - especially when I see such beautiful flowers that my sistahs in the south are showing us!
Thank you for those beautiful pictures!

oh, oh, oh......... I got a very nice surprise today!! I'd been given a Christmas cactus slip less than a year ago, and I planted it very soon afterwards, cuz it had roots. Well, it points towards the window, and today I thought "I don't remember repairing our horizontal blinds with red tape........".
I went over and I have the most gorgeous deep pink mature bloom !! I turned it in towards the room, so I can show Bob tonight! There are a few other buds too! I can't believe it!! I've never had a Christmas cactus bloom for me (except for the one at the church, and that was 15 years old at least - it's the one that was stolen from the church just before Christmas :-( )
When I can get my memory stick in my camera, I'll post a pic

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Here it is....
I hope it's not too dark, and you can see it!

What a wonderful surprise Susan, that is beautiful!!!

My phone just went off with another weather alert. Another wind storm coming through for the next 24 hours from 10:00 tonight til midnight tomorrow night. Sigh.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh my....... wind......... batten down the hatches, Debbie, and keep safe!
Once we had such a terrific wind, in the middle of summer when I had all our deck furniture and plants out, that I went out to move stuff that would get blown over/away....... well, the cottonwood trees in our neighbour's yard are terrible for breaking limbs....... An 8ft branch, and a 9ft branch fell just in front of me, and Bob saw this. From his angle he thought it was going to hit me.... They were each around 5" thick, and he thought I would get badly injured. They missed me by about 4"..... I was shaken up, and went inside immediately! We have terrible wind storms here, and I will be thinking of you during yours ..... Please take care and stay inside, Debbie!

Lyndonville, NY

That had to be so scary Susan! No way to foresee where it will fall.

There was so much damage yesterday, and it looks like it was from fires & transformers in the wind, blowing down wires and starting these fires. One is still burning in the Tonawanda Reservation area. One house had a wire fall on the garage, which somehow burned the entire garage within minutes....traveled into the house...and that is a total loss. I haven't heard all the reports from that....but thankfully no one hurt and all out safe.

No worries, I will stay inside for sure. DH is on his way to Rhode Island, they didn't leave til Noon and last I heard were in Albany.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank God that no one was hurt - fire travels so quickly and unexpectedly........! Hopefully all were insured.
Glad to hear you're taking this seriously, and that it sounds like your DH won't be in the trail of the wind storm?!

Lyndonville, NY

He might drive into the storm tomorrow on the way home. There are two of them driving, so that is better.

The problem around here is the old trees, and the streets are lined with them along with the wires. One branch goes
and it is like dominos.

This is the wind storm here yesterday looking back over the orchard (apples).

hooray for the good news for Shannon!!!

pretty blossom Susan , I just love those kind of surprises :)

Betty, sure hope your headaches quit soon!!!

mulege, Mexico

Hi -= I'm recovering (mostly from scare) still and getting repairs done - they involve several places. I'm able to camp in van. Big rig did not stop. No surprise - they can knock you off the road into eternity and they still won't stop. Very scare7y but I know where I went wrong and won't do it again. Also know where I knept my agreement with Dianne and prevented a much worse accident.

Still waiting on some packages.

Keeping you all in my prayers. Debbie, I hope Shannon is doing better. So stressful for all of you.

hugs, katie

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Katie, My hubs was a truck driver for 25 years, and he would have stopped!!! maybe the truck driver did not even realize he swiped your side???? that is very possible.

sure hope you are doing ok. angels were holding onto you for sure !!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

my ex is still a truck driver (40 yrs), and HE would have stopped as well. It's very likely he didn't know he sideswiped you. Still, very very scary, and I can appreciate the aftershocks still hitting you....

mulege, Mexico

I was in Mexico. things are different there. kb there were definately angels there.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I dunno............ I figured people are people, but suppose there could be a different set of standards for them......
I remember my ex going to "Boy's town" and I think he said it was near the Texas/Mexico border?!? I don't know all that much about the area....

Glenview, IL

Waiving Hi Katie, OMG, I AM so glad your ok!! Yep I"m sure you'll be quite shaken for the ordeal. So glad an angel held you tight. I've been in a couple devastating accidents, well I am just sighing with a relief that you are ok, Yep Angels are riding with you for sure. I sure hope everything gets straightened out...and i also hope and pray the rest of trip goes well.

Oh Susan, what a lovely bloom!! I just love the Christmas cactus, lol...tried several times to grow them but to no avail, big bummer...But, I am pleased to say Moonbeam has a white one and they were blooming!!....LOL Moonie, please don't tell me I was dreaming! ...UHhh, oh yes oh I sure can feel the pain of the floor quilting!! Great idea Thunder about a deck, lol used that too at the cottage, and here just to get a decent photo. I hope you will be able to find a nice higher place to work. Sigh, i have to do mine in sections too.

betty, this is small letters, so im not yelling, quietly giggling about that. my poor betty, so sorry you have had a headache, yet again. my goodness, i'm really starting to worry. my gosh, forgive me for not remembering which gs, but I was so very sorry to hear of his friends loss in the fire. How is Kyle? Well, lets see...I hope that Julie didn't take your comment to heart, maybe she was trying to be funny too, with her return comment? Well, I sure hope that things are good between you, I am sure she knows how much you love her...I liked her new tattoo, too! Very pretty apple blossoms! Well, my Betty, you have done it again! i so very happy your trip with Mom was a good one, big bummer of the details leading up to it, but awe so glad you did. Did Aunt Murial go too? Oh wow, how cool you also got to meet up with Sharon, good luck to her at the Atlantic show, looking forward to hearing how she did...Well, I hope you are snuggled up and resting.

Debbie...OMG, There are so many times I wish I had your phone number, (uh, hint)!! My girl, sure wish we lived closer so I could wrap my arms around you. I have no idea except through the grace of God and prayers and loving support that you keep this all together. I don't mean to get so "mushy" but I can't help but to praise your strength. You have just endured so much in the last..?? seams like an eternity, I don't know always what to say, but know that i keep you and all your family in my prayers. I admire you so much, for always being there for everyone, your love just shines and please Keep spreading the Love in your "oh look a bird" loving way, (wink, thats a compliment). Thank God, Shannon is not having heart issues, and let continue to pray they find what is causing such illness. And for you my friend, I hope that a plan of cause and action is found for all of you. There just has to be...Oh what lovely photos youv'e posted...uh could have done with out the weather report!!! hahah, just joshin, gosh you all are going through some crazy weather, ohhhh but just think Spring is here! and how exciting is that! Paul, waiving hi and smiling at your hard work! yay for creating a new room for Shannon. I bet she is pleased as punch and decorating to her likes and loves! hope it's not tooo painful from all the floor work, yow, what a job!! LOL, I have done that the last couple of days too, so Im smiling you did too....You asked about live bands, well...we did but i couldn't tell you who, think they were like local band playing Bourbon Street, very good too. We enjoyed a couple of drinks while listening and dancing in my seat! Then Jake come waltzing in, like he is accustomed to, at least in Wisconsin, not unusual for us, as the places we go are bars/food establishments on the water. LOL, he and Breenie were literally chased down by the bouncers...saying hey you can't be in here! Yikes. Oh well we still enjoyed all the variety of Music on Bourbon Street from the street, lol...
Jake said, You know, I will be back when I turn of age, lol anticipation...How are you feeling?? You were pretty sick there for a while, hope you are healing well.

Many Armwraps ,see you on the Morrow.

Great big smiles Moonie and Mary...and Hi Depsi!

holy cow, Judy - chatty wee thing, aren't you? LOL
I think it may have been me re: "getting a dog for a dog"....... My DD did that - she has a pug, and it was stressed, so they got a little dog (recently) for a companion. Pug is 4 yo, and little dog is 1 yo and about 1/2 the size of her pug (Yoda).

It's 6:30 and I've been up for 2 hours. I've been correcting some basting (with pins) of my queen sized quilt - On A Table........ lol Thanks Thunder for the suggestion. No - doing it on the deck would still be "on the floor" unless I did it on a table on the deck. However, we still have snow, so That's not going to work for now. I think draping it on a table inside is cleaner than doing the same on a deck - hangs over onto the deck, doncha know?!
Later on I'm going to a Care Home where our Church has a service once a month, as part of a "duo choir"
Still working on the Round Robin quilt - think I have a tiny block mastered that will be part of a strip for Mittsy......... a Christmas quilt!

Well, best get going on the re-write of my resume........ need to send it to the employment agency this am before I head out.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Today is the day Judy!!!!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

hugs Judy ♥♥♥ sure been missing you.

Debbie, tell crissy to pop in and say Hi to us, we miss her too!!!

Lyndonville, NY

I talked to Crissy last Friday. She is doing well, just very very busy. I will have her stop in if she gets a chance. I guess it is
"that time of year" (taxes) in the business world also and she is in high demand crunching numbers and getting work together.

Our storm was nasty last night, I went to bed at 11:30 after watching the news. Soon as I laid down the thunder and lightening show
started....and then rain/hail! I think I was so exhausted.....for once it didnt' bother me and I woke up at 7:30 this morning. lol We are due
for another round of storms...minus the wind....this afternoon. I think a lot of it was "calm" from the news on Shannon. That was one of
my biggest fears with more heart damage.

Judy, it is so great to hear from you. I love when we can get caught up, and I will send you my number soon as I know I will be home to
take calls and can sit and chat. I am just not one to sit and talk on the phone with anyone.....I think it is because my hearing is horrible or
my "oh look a bird" syndrome. LOL I am the first to admit it is bad! ROFL

Betty, how are you feeling this morning? Hope that headache is gone. Wish I would have known you were going to Cracker Barrel, I would have met up with you. It has just be non-stop running here.

OK, going to grab some breakfast....be back

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

arrrrrrgh all the stuff I entered into my resume last night is gone............ starting from "fresh" again".....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Judy, so nice to see you posting! Sounds like you're still busy running all over the place. School will be out soon, and then you can get some rest! ^_^

Betty, you're not posting? Hope you're not still fighting that darn headache!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry Susan, hope it does not take too long!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

No, it shouldn't - It's a template that was created, so just have to plug in dates, companies, titles, and key achievements........ but will need to research again, through previous docs to get dates right.
Just a bit of annoyance when I thought it was ready to go.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Drats I'm right back to where I was several months ago, every muscle in my shoulders/back and neck is hurting along with a headache. Just hate taking all the meds I'm taking to relieve it..was in bed early last night..weeks go quickly when you are making yourself comfy in bed at 5:30pm.

Girls are at my house today, glad they are seeing UPS left me a note yesterday..I sent my accuquilt out for repair a month or so ago (needed a gear) and custom charges were on the delivery so they didn't leave it. I put a cheque in an envelope and told them to leave it on the deck if the girls don't hear UPS knocking..know it's not till someone is almost downstairs and calling out do I hear someone.

Tonight is t.v. bingo so I'll have a late night, 9pm lol

Thought the minute I'd have an hour or so I'd be quilting the top on the quilting frame but haven't been up to it. Do have a black/white quilt top finished, it's in the pile with all the others that need quilting..today just to keep myself busy I brought in scraps I had cut in 2 and also 2 1/2 strips (christmas fabric) to find a project to use them up BUT they are still in the bag.

Suzanne could see I was in pain so she told me to go walk around and entertain myself for a bit..there is a School of Hair a few office's down so I went and had this mop cut off, that alone should make me feel better.

Debbie, know how you've been so busy the last 6 or so months so didn't want to put more pressure on you meeting up with me..have been missing it though..even Mom commented as to how come we weren't meeting that nice lady friend of mine???

Glad that Crissy is doing well, but she loves to on the go/go/go

Katie, thank the Lord you are recovering and able to find a place so that you don't have to rent something while you are away. My DH was a car carrier (trucker) put himself in harms way several times trying to help someone out on the road and like the other girls can't believe he wouldn't have stopped had he know...those rigs are sooo big likely he did not! How much longer will you be away?

Nice to see you post Barb..Norm and you must be exhausted from all your purging and organizing..when you are done plese come and visit me..need same done here.

Judy, big smile after reading your post..you are such a ball of fire!

ooops telephone ringing, best I answer

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Darn that you're feeling such pain, Betty!
I need to get this mop chopped off too....... so we'll both be sporting new haircuts today lol
Best I go...... have a church service at the Care Home today, and I'm walking - about 15 min walk away. Good for me :-)

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

strange morning............No Betty, no LK, no Debbie, nor Susan????

all you early risers sleeping in today??? Hope every one is alright!!!
