(((Betty))) You know when it comes to your mam you are damned if you don, damned if you don't. I know that feeling you are experiencing all too well. To be quite honest I can't think of 1 thing that I ever did in my life that my mam was happy with or proud of me for. I just gave up. And look at you, Bravo my dear you haven't given up and you keep on trying. I don't have any valium but I do have a bottle of Bailey's Mint if you would like to have a drink with me.

How is your blister Susan? A few weeks ago I did something really stupid. Really it was beyond stupid and I ended up with a lovely blister on my toes. I filled up the ash bucket with hot ashes and then tried to move the bucket with my foot. I was barefooted at the time! Yep..... dumb, dumb, dumb move. Ouch that one hurt!

Very windy here still and it is a cold wind.The wind off of the lake is bitter cold - I moved quickly when I brought in wood. The sun is shining brightly but you just know when you look out that it is cold out there.Diesel and I went deep into the bush to try and escape the cold when we were out walking.

Wow Thunder! Bluebirds are a rare sight up here and for you to have them in your house is amazing.

Judy it sounds like you had a wonderful time. Did you get to hear lots of live music?

oh, my silly blister isn't much, but it did make it difficult walking 6 blocks home....... bleh!

Well, it's late for having lunch, but I'd better have something, then do dishes........ then get back to the borders on my quilt!

A friend of ours said that they may not be selling this trailer park!!!
I may not like the size of my home, nor the lack of garden space, but I can't afford to move!!!!
And, although the land isn't ours, the trailer is, and after 6 1/2 years, I'm kinda getting used to it lol

Lovely ride home, sunshine has melted most of the snow, Evette kitties even wanted out!

Went to Fabricland after lunch, came back to the office and Suzanne said I always say same thing " not paying $12-$14-$16 a meter for cotton" lol. Guess I will put the project I'm working on away for now..

Thought I'd sit in bubbles and mellow out, have a feeling my mom will call saying she still wants to go to Buffalo, hope not but feel she will. Already in my jammies and looking forward to an evening of doing nothing seeing I've no black/white fabric, besides, head is pounding!

Dianne, your Bailey's is just what I need to make this night perfect, I'll keep Susan's valium for after Buffalo trip should I go.. Lol

Susan, that's a positive thought that the trailer park may not be sold..how can you find out if a rumor or a fact?

Betty, she picked up her prescription, we did LOTS of paperwork.....and she is moving things in her new room

Dianne, think I've got the same feeling re making mom proud..likely that is why I tell my boys how proud their dad would have been had he lived to have such sons and that no words can express how proud I am of them..can never say it too often!

Betty, this was Shane's room. It is just a little bit bigger. DH is doing almost all the work, so no worries.

Shannon's room is on the driveway side of the house, and it is noisy over there. The neighbors tie out the
puppy, who whines, then also DH leaving for work at 4:30 a.m, doors shutting, and the snow blower at times all
is rather loud over on that side of the house.

This was actually her room when she was born, but when she was little, she and Carrie had bunk beds in the back room
which has two windows and more sunlight...which they loved.

Oh Depsi if you are a blues fan, you are gonna love the concert. What a powerful sound he has!!

Betty I meant to answer this a few days ago - yes I will certainly be heating with wood again next winter. It is a way of life for me and I love wood heat. The good thing about it is that it keeps me moving - I have to get that wood inside. When my arthritis is really kicking up I pause to think and the next thing I know I am out there tossing logs around. Steve would do more if I let him - he wanted to come every day and put wood inside the house for me but I have insisted he leave that to me. When Warren was really ill last year I did allow Steve to do just that but that was because Warren was my # 1 priority. I always say if I am going to hurt this bad I want to hurt for a reason. lol

Going to look for a steamer to buy. My hardwood floors need something to give them some pizazz back. It seems no matter how much I wash them - I even got down and did a section on my hands and knees I cannot get them to shine like my cleaning lady did. Anybody here used a steamer? All suggestions gratefully accepted.

I just got a call, a friend's son was killed in a car accident last night. Poor Helen, she is not a stranger to sadness. She lost her first DH to cancer, her second DH to an accident, her boss to cancer and now this- she is young too - late 40's.You know sometimes one gets to thinking look how much sadness and pain there is in their life and then something like this comes along. Makes me stop and have a second look. Life hasn't been that bad to me after all.I'm at a loss at what to say or do for her. I'll give myself tonight to think of what I can do that will help her. I bet right now she is beseiged with people wanting to help but 2 weeks from now no one will be around.

I learned some Good News - my sister Alice got accepted for the SBRT (cyber knife) procedure on her lung cancer.
The doctor just called her. It will probably be 3 weeks before it gets started. She will be called to go in in the next week or so to go in to be measured and fitted for the machine.
She's really happy - it's less intrusive than "real" surgery as she's had the last 3......

Betty, I have lots of black and white, I will get them out early next week for you!

Good news for your Sister Susan!

So much for tv..Darlene just called and she gabbed for almost 1 1/2hours, could see she needed it..

Dianne, wish you were closer, Darlene just ave 6 bush cords away as she has decided with her spending winters in Florida she will not burn wood.

She met with her financial advisor re purchasing a new home. She told Darlene to simply find the house she wants and buy it..makes life easier when no worries about $$$.

Dianne, like you I'm in agreement that although we are hurting at the losses we've endured , loss of our hubby's that we've been blessed in many ways. Can't even begin to comprehend how some deal with tragedy after tragedy. Prayers for Helen..I agree that in a few weeks when those friends/family are back into a routine she will need you.

Great news Susan..I've not heard much about this proceedure..is it fairly new?

Debbie, wonderful for Shannon, she must be feeling grand having this room to herself. Is she the only one on the 2 nd floor or is your room upstairs as well?

Well it's not white outside so that is a good sign, should change the channel to breakfast television so I can find out temp to know how to dress..I will be so excited when I can wear my pretty outfits, light/wash & wear!

Sharon DS is leaving Tuesday to attend the biggest USA American Eskimo Dog show, think it is Atlanta..believe it's a young pup she's competing..after winning 5 best of breed at Westminster dog show in ny she is ready for another challenge. Georgia must be the in state to be this spring.

Mary, will be praying that all goes well with the interview..now wouldn't that be something..a Princess in the family as though there wasn't one before (grin)

Hi - I am in Chula Vista, slightly the worse for wear. Got side-swiped by a big rig but not hurt badly. Shaken up and need fairly minor car repairs. As I told the mechanic, "I stayed on the road and I didn't poop my pants." Long, not very interesting story. Could have been really bad so I'm being grateful. I know the prayers helped and I am thanking God. And all of you.

They are still looking for an electrical problem which is what started the road to the accident. There are some new people at "my" mechanics but we've bonded and I can stay in my van on their lot- very private and safe.

Must find a place to replace my window and mirrors and get to Kaiser. I am taking it easy as I recover from being shaken up.

Will be back. Wanted to let you know I'm OK.

Did you decide if you are coming stateside this weekend?

OMG Katie, how terrifying and as you say could have been so much worse..glad you able to post so we know you are well and don't go MIA or we'll be having the DG police out looking for you now that we know what has happened.

Well I'm shuffling off to Buffalo early/early Saturday morning, will head for home around 11am on Sunday morning. Got the, 'I won't go, being a best to everyone', 'you must be tired, it's ok, we'll go another time' and 'would have liked to have gone to that craft show' on and on so I said be ready at 7am..takes me about 2 hours drive from home to her house, then a little less from her house to Buffalo.
She called me back 2 minutes later and said don't forget to book the room, then 2 minutes later, 'don't tell Aunt Muriel, she would have liked to have come but her legs are bothering her' OK

Been fighting a bit of a headache, went to the Fabric shop, bought some white/black, cut it up and all sewn into blocks which I now cut and sew again. They have the machine I want but it's a Husqvarna quilter, told her no go, won't be buying one of them in either Canada or USA..nope (shaking my head back and forth) not going there..so will have to continue saving my pennies and buy the Janome quilter.

Just got in from lunch, Suzanne is off checking our lottery tickets, think the jackpot is 30K tax free dollars, don't want that much, few thousand would be ok though..

Drats, been fighting a headache, ran my bath and the telephone rang..mom, wanted to know what I was buying in USA?? Told her really there was nothing I wanted, just bringing her shopping! She said she thought she was up to it but is in bed, not well, just wants to cry and sorry that she is such a pest but she cannot go...ohhhh

Now that is not saying she won't call tomorrow and say she is up to going.

(HUGS) Katie... That's such a huge scare... was it a problem with the vehicle that caused it? Had close calls like that before and had to pull over and get mind straight.

Betty and all... DSD1 auditioned at 3pm today. Of 121 people, they called 6 back. Not her...but they did apparently tell her to try out again in Houston. Not sure that she will but it seems like it was a good experience so I'm happy and Happy for her.

Bless you Betty it seems like she just wants to do the opposite of what she thinks you're willing to do.... Sainthood for you.....

So glad you like the book Susan ! I still think Whirligig my fav. but Seedfolks was close....

Mary,I am sorry DSD1 didn't make the cut for Disney....but as she said, I know that experience is something she will treasure forever.
If she didn't go, she would have been wondering forever! I still think she will have a shot again.

Shannon really isn't feeling well. Has had a nauseas "something is stuck in my throat" feeling all day. Just praying this tonsil issue
isn't rearing up again, she just finished her antibiotics on Tuesday!

Her room is finished and she slept in it first time last night, but having a hard time with change.

She has blood work tomorrow and on Monday morning is the Cardiac study with Echo/Stress/EKG and all that.

I will rest a bit better after that is cleared.

Sure hope she gets good results from her lab work, and cardio exams.

I will be gone for the week end, going to Austin for the got rod ow, we will be back Sunday sometime. I will check in if we get Internet service.

Mary - sorry DSD1 didn't get chosen. How's she taking it?
Debbie - I hope it isn't tonsils too............... she has enough to deal with

34 out there, dark kind of day..calling for rain most of the weekend, good opportunity to take on inside project and do some sewing.

Debbie, likely there is a bit of excitement having the room done just for her and in colors of her choice..mixed emotions between being a child and a woman and parents accepting it as is..hugs for her! Are you still on a cleaning mission?l

Mary, sorry to hear that the interview didn't pan out but the experience is something she shall always remember! Are you now feeling 100% and caught up at work? Hoping you can just relax this weekend.

LindaKay have fun..do they race their hot rods or are they just for show and competition for best design? Remember, you must take a break and get some sightseeing and shopping done. You stay in a hotel? Have fun and be careful on the roads, towing can be a challenge with all the traffic.

Yes, some of them race, and some for show! Just a huge meeting for all the hot rods in the area, some even come from Europe!

Hope not..I put my husqvarna machine on the frame, have to use foot controller vs speed controller on the handle but is working fine. Think I will see if Greg will come over, lower the frame and maybe I can sit at it and it would work just fine..I will play with it today just to see if the machine works as it has been these past 10 minutes..would save me a lot of $$$ and would make sense that I use what I have seeing its brand new and has the large throat.

Glad I got to work from home today, need it, this doom and gloom has got to go

Playing at random quilting along outer edge of quilt just to test the quilting of this machine without their speed control..seems to be working so far

In the red area will try custom work i.e. xmas trees..nothing like a challenge..so far haven't had 1 call for work

Lord grant me patience!!!! Either that or help me find the nearest liquor store and I don't drink....

Mom just called, wanted to know why I cancelled out for tomorrow???
Told her it was she who called and said she wasn't well and couldn't do it. She said she couldn't understand that as she could almost walk to the store and back today.

Guess I'm calling to make a reservation for tomorrow night.
