Working on the final Pinewood Derby car for my little guy. Kinda sad...
Coffee Break # 92
aawww have to borrow someones kid next year
No thanks!
Yes, kids grow too fast.....I'm not on any sites except this one....don't have time to check anything else.....Mom was up on a walker today, walked for about 5 min. PT said she would have her up & down stairs next week......
Sounds like she's making good progress, Marilyn. Good to hear!
We loved Pinewood Derby too. But there are more projects ahead. In our house Lego Mindstorms competitions for First, Inc. were next.
Good news about Marilyn's Mom!
How are the kids doing this semester, Rose?
Victor, good luck to your little guy in the Derby! Be sure to post a shot of his car!
Yes, Rosemary....how is freshman year going?
Thanks, Louise!
Today is my grandson Domenic's first birthday, I can't believe how fast it went! I swear they grow faster than my kids did. I'm so truly blessed to have him!!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday to Mini Lou! ^_^

O M G Bill.
I dont have enough to worry about, now this?
there are a ton of tags you can hit so see his creations and beautiful pictures and some videos. Very good writing as well. Just incredible stuff.
GF just sent me e-mail of his picturs.
i was forwarded an email as well - the web site is amazing with videos of building them.
Happy birthday to Domenic!
It really is a wonderful talent to have.
Happy Birthday little Domenic! We all remember when you were born. Maggie Smith said it best on 60 minutes about age making life go so fast. She said it seems like she's having breakfast every 30 minutes. 😄 I just love that line.
How true! That man is amazing.....he's like a rock surgeon....
Happy Birthday baby Dom!!!... that's neat Bill.. I wouldn't have the patience for that
Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Domenic!! It means a lot to me!!
Happy Birthday Dom!
Gravity Glue was cool to see.
It's the unusual little images and ideas that keep me hooked, after, of course, the nice people.
Thanks for asking about my kids! They're still my favorite subject.
I was cooking and shopping this weekend while DD 2 was home. Umass Lowell played hockey with Umass Amherst so both my students at those schools went to see. UML is on a big infectious success binge in all areas, not just hockey.
DD1 said her month in Guadalahara for winter term was "the best year of my life." Two days after she returned, her boyfriend revealed he found someone else. DD 2 is still dating a local young man so she visits frequently.
All three kids are in love with their schools and totally thriving. What's interesting is that as they are learning that they are all excellent students after all, they are starting to think grander thoughts.
DD1 realizes she has to do something with her Spanish major, maybe immigration law if not teaching Spanish or ESL after a few years abroad. Although she was a top student in a nationally competitive high school, she is finding college work at Oberlin to be mind-bending.
DD2 thinks every single science problem is interesting. She wants to do biological research. She's justifying her Dean's scholarship at Amherst with A's or better, and is officially now a sophomore from her AP credits. We had a talk this weekend about looking up the faculty bios so she might think whose work she likes in order to hang around them. It was a great decision to go to school there and not to try to go to a fancier place where she'd be a small fish. High school was a bit too competitive for her to reveal her best work. I've known all along that she had it in her and will treasure many moments when this quiet little girl would suddenly get an amazing insight. She's not quiet now.
DS has always been both bored by school work, and also he struggled to keep up with conventional learning basics. Once a school teacher discovered his brilliant side it was usually all over in a class, because they didn't also appreciate his struggles. None of that is happening in college. He is allowed to study as he sees fit. Although his grades have been good enough to consider transferring to a higher ranked college, there is no reason to rock the boat. He really likes his college and he likes engineering, especially their design contests which he has been able to win more than once. If you want to find his first semester projects--a windmill, a bridge and an electric motor on Facebook just send me a D-mail. The motor has been sent to India as an example to inspire high school students. We just hope he can keep applying himself as he has.

Wow - sounds like they're all right at home! Congrats to them.
Wonderful updates, Rosemary!!! Wishing them much success!
Something has settled in my chest. Coughing is the only symptom. Will be interesting to see what the morning brings.
My wife too, Jan. Feel better!
Feel better Jan.
Rosemary your children sound like they are making great choices...good job!
I just got over being sick, still a little lingering cough. Lasted over a week.
feel better Deb.. it does seem to hang in there a while :(
Sounds like the kids are doing great!!!
Feel better Jan!
Friend of mine had a cough for weeks that wouldn't go away, a different doc admitted that she was probably first misdiagnosed and she had whopping cough but nothing they could do for her so late so they said that she just had to wait for it to go away on it's own
Thanks all for reading my kid-a-log.
Hope everyone gets over the chest congestion quickly.
