Yes - good day for it!
Coffee Break # 91
Ugh - my poor BIL had to respond to a suicide. It was a cop he knew well.
that sucks
8th grade son greeted me with the news that I won the wrestling team raffle. $230!! Crazy. I never win stuff but have won two years in a row with wrestling. Last year's was at a regional tournament and was about $130.
Happy Birthday pie day BA!
That's tough Victor.
Not the winning, your BIL
What do you think?
Victor can buy each of us a pie!
Key Lime for Jen! Palmolive.
Started an apple pie and remembered the dough was in the freezer not the fridge will have to finish it tomorrow.
Favorites are lemon maringue, key lime, apple and chocolate pudding. Never big on the other fruit ones. One to DIE for is sold locally. It is a peanut butter cream pie. If stranded on a desert island...Allison - the place you went to that time - The Orchards of Conklin - is the place.
wish you told me.. Randy would love that!!.. next time!!
They don't always have it. However, you,can always call ahead and have them order one.
It's also national handwriting day. Chosen today because it's John Hancock's bday.
Bridge between Kittery, Maine & Portsmouth N.H. stuck open! I don't think I can remember this ever happening!!

The only person who can understand my handwriting is my youngest grandson who is in kindergarten. I laboriously write him letters in that structured printing.
Yikes! Guess some people won't be going to work today.
I figured out late last night that the blower on my furnace isn't working. I'm taking the day off to try and find a repair person to fix it. I have enough heat without the blower - but it needs to get fixed. The last service I used totally ripped me off - $360 for an annual service up from $210 the year before - so I won't call them. I called one place with a web page that looked good and the call went to a service that puts calls out to individuals and they are supposed to call me back. Still waiting 1/2 hour later.
Hoping you find a good repair person that is reasonable, AYC!!
my cousin sent me this. Its probably stale stuff because she lives a sheltered life.
Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets.
I asked for a half dozen nuggets.
'We don't have half dozen nuggets,' said the
teenager at the counter.
'You don't?' I replied.
'We only have six, nine, or twelve,' was the reply.
'So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?'
'That's right.'
So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets
(Unbelievable but sadly true...)
(must have been the same one I asked for sweetener and she said they didn't have any, only splenda and sugar.)
TWO
I was checking out at the local Wal-Mart with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those 'dividers' that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed. After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the
'divider', looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it.
Not finding the bar code, she said to me, 'Do you know how much this is?'
I said to her 'I've changed my mind; I don't think I'll buy that today.'
She said 'OK,' and I paid her for the things and left.
She had no clue to what had just happened.
THREE
A woman at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly.
When I inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM 'thingy.' (keep shuddering!!)
Hilarious!!!!
I feel better (kind of ) Knowing how many people are stupider than me.
Its scarry really.
Oh, those are funny! I have many, unfortunately true, stories about our local DD....however, I still love them, since they remember my latte....most of the time!
LOL
Hubby was behind a woman at a breakfast deli and she asked what a bagel was. Guy at counter couldn't even answer her he was so dumbfounded. She asked " is is more cake like or bread like?" Where are you from that you don't know what a bagel is?
That's a crazy price Memory, we charged the residential customer we had annual service $200 a year for 1 heat and 1 cool inspection and he has 2 units
thought that was high myself - although looking at my annual bill is was $196, that included $57 in parts which is nuts since the unit is only a few years old - always feel like at am getting new parts not needed like can happen at auto repair place.
Parts included a delavan nozzle, filter and gasket (which sounds like it should be an annual change), and a honeywell cadcell assembly. I think the guy told me this needed to be replaced because the wires were cut to short by the previous technican - who works for the same place! why should i pay?
And for a measly 58 degrees, the heater should not even work up a sweat!
Today is National Peanut Butter Day. Guess people with peanut allergy are in full panic.
The manufacturers rep is on the way to look at the furnace. Fingers crossed.
Parts(unless it's filters and grease) are never included in an annual inspection
Well - the furnace story - the Rep went through the furnace which is functioning perfectly. The problem is the hot water was't circulating. He figured out that the person who replaced the circulating pump not only put the wrong one on -he put it on upside down! So my three pumps were passing the water between themselves instead of circulating it! The rep took the time to turn the pump right side up (they have arrows for goodness sake - how stupid do you have to be to put it on without looking at the arrow!) It still needs a back flow valve and he will send me one in the mail. He offered to come and put it in for me - but I think that I can do it. He charged me nothing and took documenting pictures with is phone for me. I am going to call or write a letter to his boss saying how impressed I am with the service and the product. Now I have to go and vacuum all my baseboard radiators.
Memory, that was wonderful.....who are the jerks who put it in upside down? And got paid $60.00 hour to do so! Can you sue someone?
They got a lot more than $60 an hour! I might try to get some of my money back and I am certainly going to look everywhere I can to put out the bad word about them.
That was nice of him.
I posted the picture of the upside down pump on the company who put it in's Facebook page. I haven't decided what to do about it yet - whether I am going to ask for money back or what. Sometimes people's stupidity just overwhelms me!
I would ask - never know until you try
I would ask too
I would post the pic and kindly ask them to reverse the rest of the heating system to make it work...
They would probably try and charge me for it!
Here is a picture of the pump/ The arrow is on the middle green thing in the part that is U shaped and sticks out. It is kind of hard to see - there are a couple of embossed letters and then the down arrow. I just can't think of what I want from them - maybe just to make sue they never come near my furnace again!
I had made an appointment with another plumber who got a referral from a call I made to a website that looked like a real company. I was able to cancel it, but he came by anyway just to see if everything was OK. I thought that was really nice of him and I took his card and will use him for non-furnace related plumbing.
Ditto
Glad it worked out for you, Memory....I would ask for partial payment back.....
wow that make me nuts too.. glad it's fixed Memory.. and the reason I will always call the contractor I trust to see who he is using for plumbing or electrical .. he only keeps good guys.. down side is they are not the cheapest.. but I know it will be done right
