Glad all the holiday stuff is over and back to somewhat of a routine.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Great Sexy And I Know It parody, Sally! I love it! I really love watching parodies of popular songs, movies, TV shows. For all you Walking Dead fans out there, here's my favorite parody of that show: http://youtu.be/4VKHZDwfY6k

Happy Birthday to you DGD, Celeste!

Glad you liked it nuts. I wasted time with Al Yankovic last night too.

I loved the Walking Dead Xmas!- bookmarked for DH and son.

victor, now really, you should be sorry for your wife, now she has to sleep with a 50 yr old dude??

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks guys

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Poor Mrs. Victor - maybe she can trade down for 2, 25 year olds!

My 50's were great. Not talking about the 60's - will wait until they are over for retrospective comment. :)

South Hamilton, MA

Enjoy the 60s. I was looking forward to 68 & forgot to enjoy all of 67. I have not & will not make that mistake again.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Happy Birthday Victor!

Quote from luvsgrtdanes :

Allison is it 'Norfolk Island Pine'? I always see them for sale at Christmas.

It looks like a Norfolk Island Pine. They will tolerate 30 - 100 degrees.

Day #3 with a sick husband. Been pumping OJ & soda to him. He has home made chicken soup. Baked turkey with gravy & stuffing and Oatmeal & rasin cookies (I made). On the other shelf he has Nyquil, Dayquil, Robatussin Cough Sryup, Alkaselzer Plus Cold, Vicks Vapor Rub, Halls & Loudens Cough Drops and of course Nurse Ratched Sherrie. All a sick man could want.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hope he feels better soon Sherrie, sounds like the flu. :(

Hope its only a cold, he is swaying to go to the hospital. Today he seems a tad better. He did get up & around and he did laugh a couple of times. I feel if he makes it through tonight & tomorrow he will be on the mend. We can get back on the kick we dont have doctors or medical insurance,,,, nothing.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Harp!

Yep - sounds like the flu. That's all I've been hearing! Seems many were sick over the holidays. Sister and BIL have flu now.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

What perfect *!#!@&$#-ing timing!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

hope he feels better Sherrie... been taking airborne like crazy.. everyone is sick at my stops

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Glad you liked that Walking Dead parody, Sally. Have you checked out any of the Gangnam style parodies? There are some really good ones. I'm yelling you, there are some really creative and talented people out there.

Hope your hubby feels better soon, Sherrie.

Karen

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

How many times do all walk into a room & forget what you were there for? Fun & games.

Hope that your DH improves quickly Sheri.

For those of you who choose not to get the flu shot....don't come to Maine. We have a very high incident of Flu along with whopping cough spreading across the state. A 6 year old little girl died a few weeks ago, the CBC said she indeed had the flu.
It's rare that people die from the flu, rarer still when that person is young and healthy and not elderly and frail. During the 2011-12 flu season, there were only 34 deaths among children under the age of 18 in the entire country, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That was the LOWEST number of pediatric deaths reported during a flu season since records started being kept.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

It's going to be OK Victor. Its not that obvious for 20 more years.
By then you will just accept it.I hate to use a cliche' but it is true"you are only as old as you feel".I doubt you will age as fast as some who just quit at 65 and retire their brains and everything else.
We got 3 inches more snow last night.
#1Trellis with lights in the garden
#2 Grill with LED lights under the rails.
#3 Table and chairs w/LED's.SIL's idea.

I thought that I was fairly alone with the name recall problem. I find that if I speak a little slower, I might have give myself enough time to come up with the elusive nouns and names. It doesn't always work.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

I made it an issue for DD1 to get her flu shot before going to Mexico. Since she hadn't thought about it we were able to get her shot as well as pills for typhoid and malaria at the Port Authority (called Massport) clinic on New Years Day. Mainly I don't want her bringing the flu to the family she is living with there. Unfortunately, she didn't get it earlier.

So sorry to hear about all the illnesses. Many of the hardest working people in my job have pneumonia. I was often bored during my home vacation over the holidays but rest was a good thing.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I prefer Groucho's line - 'A man is only as old as the woman he feels...'

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Whaaaaaa.That is a good one.

Thomaston, CT

Hoping Jim gets better fast, Sherrie, & that you don't get sick taking care of him. Doug's niece, Sharman, who was a Down's & was diagnosed with Alzheimer's several years ago, passed away yesterday...she had been in the nursing home a year and a half.....a blessing, but she was a very spunky person, she worked in Hanover for many years before she was ill, loved to swim, listen to music, dance.....I'll be heading up to NH in a few days......

South Hamilton, MA

Tough RD, sorry about the death.

I was worried about whooping cough re people not vaccinating their children. My shot was in the 1930s. So I got the shot that is a combination of tetnus & wc. DH says he was stuck so many times before going to Korea (some shots twice because they lost his papers) that he isn't worried.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sorry to hear, Marilyn.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

The flu shot wouldn't have worked anyway this year it's a different strain going around
You do know they have to guess at what strain it's going to be and have a 1 in 3 shot of getting it right? besides I don't want them injecting me or my kids with mercury and formaldehyde
They best way to fight off the flu is naturally, your body builds up resistance once you've had it

Elderberry is wonderful at killing viruses and if it's bacterial, Manuka honey

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

We, as grandparents and babysitters, were asked by the day care facility to get whooping cough shots because of the recent return of the disease. Seems like the ones given so long ago need to be boosted.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Sorry for your loss Marilyn (((♥)))

Must have been a day for bad news, my niece has been trying to get pregnant for about 3 years, it finally happened after IVF and we were all so happy for her. My brother called yesterday and said there was no longer a heart beat and she was going in for a D&C I feel so sad for her, they want kids so bad. If maybe you can say a small prayer for her I'd appreciate it.

I also found out this morning my sister is officially moving to Tennessee to be with her daughter when her new baby arrives, she won't be coming back...I guess I was in denial and thought it wouldn't happen. I know it's better for her financially in the long run but hate to see it happen. I'm not a big traveller and feel like it's going to be a long time before I see them all again. I don't do to well with change either...not a good start to the new year...

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

so sorry RD.. hugs & prayers

I am home sick too.. guess the air borne didn't work :(

South Hamilton, MA

The town had a program of flu shots for seniors, so we got ours there. I had heard that this year they got it right & it is the same virus.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not true, Jen. There are mercury-free flu vaccines. My wife gave us ours. And I have heard the opposite about this year's vaccine - again just the other day - that they were very successful with this year's strains.

This is both scary AND very maddening!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Oh, RD, hugs for the whole family.

Will do, luvs. The heartache they must be feeling now. Maybe you could get someone to go along with you when you visit TN.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

On the CF bulbs, it's no wonder since they are ALL made in China. Quality control? Ha! Care about safety, especially Americans'? Yeah right. They better follow up on this. After outlawing incandescents, the onus is on them. LEDs are great, but still way too expensive for home use. The new Philips LED light that resembles an incandescent costs $35!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the spots that I have my bulbs have either a shade or diffuser.. the exposed ones have led bulbs in them.. the only spot that is exposed is the porch light.. the cover wouldn't fit over the bulbs .. but it is very messed up

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

believe it or not.. I found the Phillips led bulbs at shop rite for $9.99.. bought a bunch
