Best/Worse/What did I learn today? chat with friends

oops sorry, my story got interrupted...plus i was on the tabby and it got a bit obnoxious trying to type...now Im on Breenies laptop which is still insane but at least better...anyhoo, my story continues!!

So I was so very excited to have found that pattern, I knew it was one thing I wanted to make, the pattern is from the FOUR TWIN SISTERS COLLECTION, OOPS CAPS..anyway, I did the block and came to a hault, couldn't decide for the life of me... if I should keep the background white or use different and so I did what any other quilter would do and called BARBARA for help, lol and she came to my rescue, via dmail!! Big smiles thank you again Barbara! well I did not lie about the being so happy I could just pee, that was true and in that very moment I wondered if other quilters had such a marvelous fitting, now I believe I am a true quilter/lol at least piecer...
haha, i also didn't really lie about the napkins thingy...I tried it just not when i told you! and I wast too crazy how it came out so no go in the pressie box...lol and now that I am fessing up, I was just estatic to get your name...the Bird house was an immediate decision because we both just loved them at your Uncles, I figured most likely we'ld never make one for ourselves so I decided you should have one too!! HAHAH, YOU KNOW ME, WAS TELLING bETTY ABOUT IT and of course had to share via dmail, thats why she knew it was for this Santa exchange....Oh and I am sorry to send Snow...but I thought it was just a fun thing to do since you don't get any, lol there is one snowflake missing!! It simply disappeared, I was going crazy trying to find it, lol even looked at the cutout knowing i cut three!! Well I did find the third just last night, must have dropped it while transferring it! It's under the workbench in the Harport!! So Ill finish it and you may get it in the Summer lol. So now you have it, your friend the big fat liar, know you can forgive me tho!! heres a big ARMWRA{P to seal my apologies/wink too...But I know you already did because of the phone call, I wwas so thrilled to get that call and hear the excitment in your voice, just made my day!!
Oh..and the cookies!! Liz and I were suppose to make them together, via phone, I can't tell you how many times we tried to connect, it just was insane and we both were dissapointed it wasnt to be...but it is her recipe...it's very simple, well untill your suppose to roll the cookie in the almonds at the end!! Hahah, yeah right, the first one I did, they kept falling off, I was just swearing away at the...finally in the end just tossed the egg/sugar in the mix, chopped the almonds tossed them in and then did the rolling and bake, wahla!! I figured they must be good because the tray I did for us, was gone before the day was over!!..ok so here is the recipe, Im sure Liz won't mind if we shared!
Danish Butter Cookies
4 cups of flour
2 cubes of butter
2 cubes of margerine
almonds
sugar
1 egg..I used 2
Mix softened butter & flour by hand, roll eye balls, I used a mixer!
Roll the mix into finger sized pieces, dip in beaten egg and sugar then almonds...(lol, good luck with that)
preheat over to 350 and bake for 15-20 minutes.
I got 3 trays out of this size recipes.
OH, and in case your wondering what H a cube of butter/marg is...It's Californian for a Stick!! ROFLOL!

We were up earlyn gorgeous weather..went to Walmart then shopping, bought a few outfits for summer, wow, hot pink..lol. Not moving the best, pain killers galore.

Bought fabric,cutting board and ruler and haven't even opened sewing machine box, must tell you something...do want to try the machine before leaving though just incase something is wrong..perhaps tonight. Starting to fidget so little bit of sewing won't hurt.

Met a young woman who is here until end of month..she lives about 100 miles north of me..I'm making spaghetti and invited her for supper.

Now that Christmas has passed, Darlene is back to Darlene I know and love..

Susan, always used to let Roger drive and deal was if he wanted me to drive then close eyes, head back, relax and not utter a word.

It made sense for me to drive, because I was dropping him off downtown. I did ask "do you want to drive, because it will probably be light traffic at that time of day/season?" The traffic was really light.... and I only had 2 streets to drive on, then turn to the right/right/left/left to go back home.
Anyway, it's a good day - nice and quiet around here!!

Omg life is strange at times..for a few days we didn't see woman across the street who has Ontario plates, then yesterday she dropped in, name Patti, lives 100 miles north of me..she rented for December and has to leave end of month, we are scheming up a plan, if I drive back with her (thinking of my new sewing machine) lol she will (might) stay on a few extra days and we will leave Friday or Saturday for home..imagine..would work out perfectly..would have to see though if the ins/outs work out..tomorrow we are helping Dottie an elderly woman who lived with a man for 12 years, family in his illness moved him north closer to them although Dottie looked after him for 6 years and told her she had till end of month to move out..so she bought trailer next door and needs help moving..Dar, pattie and I will move all the heavy stuff

Then a few minutes ago Leona and Fred who live about 5 miles from me, imagine) saw the license plates and stopped to gab..am sure Dar will be fine till end of march..

I'm in a roll, might even take my machine out.

Wow - WHAT a roll, Betty! People just see your face and think "now there's a friendly person" so these things happen to you!

So miserable that they are moving Dottie out, after 12 years, and the family has moved him away.......... I imagine that after 6 years he may be too much for her to care for, but it's been her home for 12 years!! Where will she move the trailer to? Or is this a perm trailer home? Betty - don't go putting your back out with the moving of heavy stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T!

Darlene is staying till end of march at which time I'll fly to Florida and drive her home..will try to fly for 4 or 5 days in feb if all goes well.

Dottie bought the trailer right next door to the one she lived in so easy to move her ..she has all the little things moved just needs help with dressers, couch,bed etc.

As for my back you gotta do what you got to do..I'll just take extra pain killers

ROFLOL. Betty this time of year you will most likely find more Canadians in the Ft.Myers and Port Charlotte area than in Canada. There is a trailer park on Kings High just off i-75 in Port Charlotte that is nothing but Canadians. They have a huge maple leaf flag flying when all are down for the winter. Who know who you might find there. :-)

That would be wonderful if you could work out arrangements to drive north Patti, sure way to get all new sewing items home plus company for her. I am assuming she is by herself.

If nothing happens today, Kim and I plan to go down to my sisters tomorrow. Need a way to contact you!!!!!!!

Plans to go see Les Miz tonight with a group of friends. Can hardly wait....besides this is one great group of mother/daughters who get together frequently. Much laughter and good times always.

My janome sewing machine 9000 is old but in #1 condition and Cost thousands when I bought it..only thing wrong is they no longer make embroidery cd's..what the magic box does is if you put your writable disk in magic box and any embroidery pattern (within your hoop dimensions) can be downloaded on the readable..just a toy lol

BUT I'm OFF Tomorrow and headed to near Marions to see Dad with Hubs. I'm SO excited about your cruise Judy! And the whole family to boot. Please share what you are leaning towards... I've never cruised...
Marion headed your way tomorrow. Well Christmas Day was pretty hairy but tornadoes touched down north of us. PleasePlease tell me how you fix the Prime Rib. I'm a big fan. Love the steaks but the roast is the closest thing I've found to what Mom always cooked for "Special" meals.....

Katie -warms my heart the kids enjoyed the Mardi Gras Beads... Kids are so spoiled around here they practically throw them away. If I can figure out a cheaper way to get them to you I can send a bigger box... but now at least I've found a way to clean out the boxes I have in the attic ! (if you don't mind LOL)

Mary, I think Betty is down near Ft. Meyers area.

Hubs had help...from me! In November, everyone is REQUIRED to send out a "wish list" for Christmas. It really helps me with the kids and what they do or do not
have / need now. SO, we parents are now expected to do the same thing. We list current sizes needed, colors preferred on items....you name it.
AND...when DH and I go shopping together, like Sam's Club...he pays attention hence...the spice rack.

Quiet day today - drove Bob to work for 7am, then cleared up a bit around the house, got a "twister tool" from Betty and checked out the tutorial she sent me, baked a mincemeat pie, picked Bob up from work at 3pm, ate supper & mincemeat pie, now watching Murdoch Mysteries that I taped.

On New Years Eve we'll be joining Doug & Bev at our Community Center's evening. It's free, except for any beer or food you buy........ and the kids have their NYE early (about 9pm?) so they can get to sleep, then it's time for the adults to stick around and enjoy.

Yes, Betty is in Ft. Myers and if all stays on track I hope to get together with her real soon. Plans are for us to leave tomorrow, provided I get up with my knee the size of a grapefruit. Mary, yes you will be very close to me but unfortunately I need to go see mom while I have a driver. Still very uncomfortable..wait, difficult for me to drive especially 7 hours.

Mary I did my prime rib on the rotissary this time. Was good but not great......the meat itself just didn't have a nice flavor to it like some I have bought in the past. Then it could have been my taster too. :-)

Went out to dinner with a group of friends tonight and then saw Les Miz....an absolute must or IMHO it is a must see. Really enjoyed it.

Well Ft Myers I suppose but curious as to the accomodations as it seems like "home" with Betty cooking etc. not a hotel room I suppose....
Good Idea Debbie... FB really helped Christmas this year as I asked "all" what they wanted and they all helped me out...
but it is really special to me when someone notices something you pay attention to while shopping...like your DH did....

Awe Marion... well you've been sick so I suppose that may have been it. I cooked an Oven Roast ... tied in string... stuffed garlic cloves all over it, pepper and worchestershire... I think this was the first year I nailed it. But DS had a bunch of friends over and it was practically gone in one night.

I really don't mind... it makes me happy that the kiddos come over here and eat. Maybe the Mama in me.....on the other hand that was sure an expensive roast !

Was Les Miz Live ? I really enjoyed the movie but I have not seen it live. West Side Story is coming here live but for only one night... I will try to snag some tickets but will have to be very lucky to get them.....

Hope the swelling in your knee goes down before the long drive... I think it is 7 hours from here to Wewahitchka but I'm trying to break up the trip "There" because that just is too much. (Disney in 10 hours, however is NOT too much).

I never told ya'll but last time we went... on the drive home... I was navigating with my IPAD (not much service) and Hubs and I ended up on DIRT ROADS on the way home. They ended up getting us back to civilization however we will NOT attempt this again...

Mary, I have found that most gps devices, in car or ipad, can get one lost sometimes! A few years ago, I had Dad out for a Sunday drive, drove for a long time, then turned on onstar in the truck to get us home. As we were driving along it told us to take a right turn in 1/2 mile, as we got to the supposed turn, there were no roads to be found at all, so it re-routed the trip for us.

Mary just ask our Barb or Debbie and Betty about GPS sytems. You will get an earful! Safe travels.

Been up since 4 am, it is lovely out. Very cold but clear. Full moon tonight.

Betty it sounds like you are in a perfect location for you. I hope Darlene will enjoy herself there this winter. Wouldn't that be wonderful if you could get a ride back with your new friend. Mind your back while helping your new friend. If you go down to the Salvation Army in the town where you are, you should be able for a few dollars hire a couple of guys who would be more than grateful to make some extra cash. I used to do that when I went into a new city/town for a show and there were no bodies provided by the show organization to help you move in.

Snow has stopped but another storm is moving in tonight. As long as it is snow and not ice I will love it.

Brrr, not really, just after the heat of the day early morning/late night you feel the lower temps.

Fleamasters is open for today and tomorrow, always enjoy a flea market, trying to decide if today or tomorrow.

Dottie's daughter and grandaughter arrived late last night from north Carolina to help so we may not be needed..will check before we make plans for the rest of the day. Patti is going to the ft Myers aquarium this morning and will let us know if we should be adding that for a day trip.

Did find a quilt shop about 8 miles from here..it's a must see for sure lol

Betty, Luna is about the same, still getting sick now and then, we take her back to the vet this afternoon for a follow up, will know more then.
Dad is getting worse, he has a team of Dr.'s working with him, trying to figure out the best strategy for removing his leg above the knee. As he has a bad heart, lungs and liver, they feel he will not survive the surgery, so they are trying to come up with plan B! We should know more some time next week.

I was delighted to see a few of my garden shots on Breenies computer!! LOL, I must have used her camera.

The beauty you see the hint of white? It was baby root shoot from the original, white blooms, I ve long ago forgotten the original name too, when I transplanted it came back Red, so I renamed it after the Carols, I love and miss. But the really neat thing is, over the last two seasons, I can see it with more and more white returning!! It is all very exciting to watch and I can't wait to see it this coming Season!!

Oh Linda Kay sorry, very sorry to hear about Dad.

Having a quiet day here. Dana and Tom are having a potlauck later. I need to decide what to take.

Still cleaning p my bedroom. If I rush I mess things up so I'm taking my time. About ready to do some sewing. I have a small touch of stomach flu. Fuzzes my head so I'm mostly trying not to mess up the work I've already done.

Our weather is chilly but clear and blue. Beautiful to look out at the Sea of Cortez.

Got this sewn together today. I really like the pattern Betty and I like the way it turns out. I did take some apart and resew to make the stripes all go the same way. I get anal about things like that!!! I am not sure how I want to finish it. May use the original base as the back!!! Now to figure out the base blocks for some of those that you linked us to.....

Barb, that is so so pretty! I just don't know how you ladies do that. I think it requires mental coordinations....Have mercy I am doomed!

Judy, selling of Hubert has been a long time coming and more good news about Jacob getting his drivers permit..just hard to believe the little gaffer playing outside when I visited many years ago is now a handsome young man.

Going to send you 5 lovely patterns, one a bouquet and also one for large quilt..also ordered lets twist and lets twist again books..anxious to get home and play with the designs. I really enjoyed the simple sewing of blocks and with twister cuts, voila a work of art.

Debbie, keep telling you to come and spend a weekend/week with me and we'll spend it sewing.good luck with the soup, bet it's delicious.

Katie, you've been so generous to all the children and friends that it's now time to be good to you...rest, me thinks you are overdoing it.

Did groceries, home for a rest (Darlene could see I was having difficulties walking) Lordy it was to have been me watching she doesn't overdo and it's her watching me. Lol

Just took painkiller, putting feet up, bought dabblers for bingo so just might get Patti and Darlene to come with me. Need to win $$ to make up for what I spent today.
