Merry Post Christmas! ^_^ It was a wonderful day for me with two Christmas dinners. Ham and brisket at first and turkey at second...gosh I went to bed miserable. You'd think I'd learn, but noooooooo, stuffed myself at both places!
Susan, I'm so happy your gift FINALLY got to you, you should have had it days and days ago, but glad it was in time for Christmas. Glad you like it all. I made the necklace and have finally purchased some more ladder yarn on line so I can make some different ones.
LK, I just love those chubby little feet. Could you not just kiss that gorgeous little boy to death!!!! Know that Christmas was special to you, as your pictures told that story!
I got a new skinny camera, just what I've been hinting at. Santa got the message. Have been snapping like crazy and as soon as we figure out how to get them on the computer, I'll share.
Betty, my brother lives in Cape Coral. They boat to Ft. Myers for dinner sometimes. It's a great area. Bill and I honeymooned there long ago in 1980! Wish I had a trip planned, as I'd meet up with all you sistahs, too!
We're getting that icky weather. I had planned some sale shopping today, but no way am I getting out in this mess! Bad enough I'll have to get out tomorrow to go clean house!
Betty, do you want me to mail your calendar to you down there, or to Canada, or what? I'd thought I'd be giving it to you when you stopped by, but sadly :( that fell through.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? chat with friends
Is beautiful where we are, water on both sides to lot of beaches to pick from..it's what one would call a perfect day..high temps but no humidity and nice breeze.
If you send me the calendar at home I'll make sure I send you the voltaren..
Ohhh new camera, fun to learn how they work..am sure you'll be posting and making your own calendars in no time
First is the two bases I made - bottom one is too small!!!
Second - first three rows are cut
Third - it does seem weird to cut a jpieced top apart!!!
Fourth - it is all cut
Fifth - I may leave the smaller one as it and hang them together????
Now to sew all those new blocks together!
This message was edited Dec 26, 2012 12:48 PM
I just noticed that my stripes are not all going the same way. I am going to play with this a bit!!!
Okay, Betty, deal!! ^_^
Love it Barb, are you happy with results?
Just came back to look at it..really nice
Is it something you would enjoy doing again??
I'm thinking of purchasing yardage so I can do a quilt out of blocks..saw tutorial somewhere that included a red twister to make a bow
I would surely do it again WITHOUT USING STRIPES!!! I'm really upset with myself! I know better than to not check!!! The only way I can fix it is to make almost half the blocks again!!! I really don't want to take these pieces apart! But I just might....
Well, one and a half hours later and I have taken apart the bad sections and now all the stripes go the same way. Norm just got home so I will put this away until tomorrow when I sew all the blocks together... Yes, Betty, I would do it again and pay much closer attention if I used a stripe again. It is a fun pattern to make and I enjoyed it..
We are really getting dumped on today! It started around 10:00 am with high winds and blowing snow. It is now icy snow all over the roads and sidewalks and water all over the screens. Heavy snow, too, and I hope it doesn't bring down any electric wires. I do have a gas fireplace and gas stove, so am in good shape.
Was at DS house yesterday for Christmas dinner with the family. Stacey said that Jonathan just loved his stocking and the big toys that were out but he wouldn't open any packages. They had to open the paper and he would take the toy. He got a Big Wheel that was more for his father than for him (although Jonathan does love to ride the Wheel). My son had one as a child and couldn't wait to get one for his son. They are good play-mates. LOL
We have another week to go to keep this baby "in", and hopefully, Alexandra will stay will where she is until late in January. Fingers crossed!!
Barb, I know how you and Norm feel. Last year this time I finished radiology and now I'm 1 yr cancer free. Let's hope the same for Norm and a healthy 2013.
Wishing all of you good things for the New Year; health, friends, and family around you.
(((Janis)))) So glad that year has gone by and you are doing better! Wonderful news. Fingers and toes crossed the baby "stays put" for another six to eight weeks at least.
DH must be taking this storm warning seriously, he went out and fueled and primed up his snow blower.
Janice, wonderful news about you being 1 year cancer free!! It must seem like forever to Stacey re pregnancy..here is hoping Alexandra likes where she is.
Debbie, Darlene just talked to her mom and it was cold but clear today, here is hoping the storm passes you buy but doesn't head Victoria Harbour way.
Either tomorrow or Friday Greg and family get back, he will be disappointed no snow for snowmobiling.
Went to Joann's, they were much too busy for me to sit and learn about the machine but before I left my machine came in..won't look at the manual tonight as we have supper and bingo to contend with..
Betty, it is surrounding us....and you! Clear right now, wind picking up big time...no snow yet...but it is coming!

Joyce - ladder yarn?! kewl beans!! I really love that necklace you made - sooooo kewl!
I'm happy that the pkg got here so you weren't stressing about it!
I'm surprised the pkgs I sent got delivered so quickly - 4/5 days - wow!!
Betty - you're a true friend to Darlene - glad you're there to help de-stress her.....
Janice - we'll all pray for the baby to stay "in" until the end of January!!
Debbie - yes, family can be hurtful, but sounds like they're repairing the rifts?!?!
LK - she's so adorable.....love chubby little feetsies!!
Barb - not checking means you will sometimes get what you don't expect, but it's Better! So what if you don't check?! I used to think that I had to do quilting perfectly, and with muted colours. Now Thunder & Jaye have taught me that I can "step out of the box" re: colours, and it can look truly Stunning!
As for perfection.......well, as the Amish believe "being perfect is like trying to be God, and that's not right".
Janice - has it really been 1 year? How wonderful!! A celebration, to be sure!!!
Yes, it hardly seems possible that Jonathan is so much older! I still remember waiting for his birth..... !
Guess who is being lazy/lazy..just finished eating and I'm thinking do I really want to go to bingo, likely it will be a nah!! Did have a wonderful day, got my point across in a nice way, several times I asked 'could I' this 'could I that' and was told I didn't have to ask so just mentioned all the things I did wrong yesterday..but imagine a few more ahead of us as the new year approaches..my hubby died New Years Day and Mike Jan 3rd..for me it's long ago but still comes to mind but for Darlene, her 1st. So to be expected.
So hope Debbie the kids can mend the fences..sometimes these issues stay with them, may this not be the time. Is Paul off for the rest of the week??
I like bright colors Susan but hard for me to use them..that being said I bought bright yellows to go with black for the pattern I want to do..remember a few years ago I painted basement brilliant color, next day off to home depot to buy paint and repaint it.
Winter project is to paint my craft room and get custom blinds for the windows..then attack my washroom which is in bad need of upgrading..told myself both have to be done by March.
lol Betty - I hear ya, re: painting too bright!!
Here's what I learned today - this beautiful poem:
T’was 11 days before Christmas
T'was 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
They were filled with such joy;
They didn't know what to say.
They remembered nothing of what
had happened earlier that day.
“Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
“This is heaven" declared a small boy.
"We're spending Christmas at God's house”.
When what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their Savior. The children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
Then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
And in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring.
The children all flew into the arms of their King.
And as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
And as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
Then He looked down on earth, the world far below.
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe,
He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
“Let My power and presence re-enter this land!
May this country be delivered from the hands of fools.
I’m taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools! “
Then He and the children stood up without a sound.
“Come now my children let me show you around."
Excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
All displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
And I heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
“In the midst of this darkness,” I AM STILL THE LIGHT."
This was written by a lady in PA and really packs a message to help us all deal with the tragedy in Newtown. God bless you, your children and our land.
Betty, Paul went into work today and is scheduled for Thurs. & Friday also. Snow has arrived and Buffalo says getting 2 inches an hour moving this way.
I am here in my special Betty Blanket, all cuddled up. Don't think you know how much I love that rag quilt. Kids even called me Linus!
Yes, I think feelings have been damaged with the kids, and the girls, as much as I love them to pieces are very "I never got in trouble!" in his face. Ummm, yes you did....maybe not with the law but other things just as bad in my eyes. I then got silent treatment for a few hours.
Betty, when do you fly home, and are you flying into Buffalo or Toronto?
Susan, love the poem..always amazes me how quickly they come up with these poems.
Debbie, glad you like cuddling in the daisy rag blanket! Darlene is covered with Mike's memory blanket I made from his clothes..she finds it comforting..
If I can talk someone into travelling to Buffalo to pick me up I'd fly into Buffalo, the Niagara Falls airport which is 1/4 the cost.
amazed none of you got envelopes today..hmmm maybe tomorrow.
When are you looking to fly home?
oh, maybe there is mail delivery today?!?! I know I won't get anything from you today, Betty, but maybe some other mail?
Have to be home for Monday after New Years so I'll try for the Friday or Saturday
Nope Susan, no mail for you or Thea, still sitting on my kitchen counter. Lol
Oh Betty, travel this weekend is going to be nasty with the weather and holiday travel. You might not get such a cost break flying on a Friday/Saturday especially
on a holiday. Yikes!!
No Debbie I'm here for another full week and a few days..
Barb, here are some pretties..I ordered USA flag, spring basket and Christmas tree, the should be at the house when I arrive..now I want to order the witch hat and snowman

Betty, I got mail !! thank you very much...I can hardly wait to try it out :)
Many hugs to Y'all ♥♥♥
Debbie, I don't know what your son did, or what the girls said to him.....but time does heal......
one of my boys did a very hurtful stupid thing some years ago, at one point I thought the other two would NEVER speak to him again...butttttt they are brothers again....
A few years later, another son made some VERY BAD choices, got him self into some deep trouble, brothers came through to help him out, they were very MAD, but they were there to love and support him.....
My three boys, they are not "best friends", but they are brothers, and would be there in a flash if another needed them..they have not forgotten, but have learned to forgive. I see that they have grown up a little more, each time they get together.
It is very hard to see the pain, they can cause each other. then it gets better, and it is ever so comforting to see the love.
Many Hugs to you♥♥♥
Marion, I hope you are staying off that knee !!!! Hugs to you too ♥♥♥
I got a package today from Betty......what a wonderful surprise that was to receive. Now to get into even more trouble.
I am trying to stay off of it Thunder. Kim is a very good "warden" these days.
Thank you Thunder, much appreciated!
Marion, good for Kim, tell her to use duct tape! hehehe
Betty, It hought you meant this coming Monday before Jan. 1st!!!
Glad they are arriving, for the non sew'ers haven't forgotten you all..just wait till I get back and use that new machine. Lol
Likely easier for Betty to stay away Jan 1 as well.......... Will have to send birthday greetings to her son via telephone or internet...... It's a tough time of year all 'round..........
Good morning...
Sending some big giant Armwraps to you all.
Betty I hope Darlene has some better days. THUS making your days better too. I am also keeping in prayers youwill heal better these days too...
I didnt realize you were going to be there as long as you so I really hope for one thing, that you and Marion will be able to meet up and also Thunder?!
Marion, yay for kim playing warden! How was your primerib dinner?? I hope it was absolutley delish. Awe was so glad you had such a great Gatheri.g.
Katie still smiling at the love you spead in your little town! Many happy children today because you make Christmas so special for them! God bless you.
Oh Debbie, sending you some tight mom wraps, sigh kids! But I think Thunder is right...time does heal...and girls, sisters are the worse. I KNOW my sisters and I could get into some hellatious fights and yes we gained up on the brothers when they did wrong. But the good thing is, brothers and sister have sucha unique bond evenwhen mad at each other. So mom, try not to be inthe middle it will straighten out., with my own three sometimes they are the better disciplinarians over each other...
YOU GOT a some great pressies from Liz. What surprises did you get from Paul? Something you can be cozy warm in this crazy wheather, lol winter hasfinally appeared.
Mary, you hoo how are you doing? Sounded like youhad a nice Christmas, lovehow you had a nice movie marathon! What a neat thing to do...lol i cannot believe, Ihave not seen a single viewing of Its a wonderful Life. There have been times where every channel throughout the course of Christmas I could watch anytime lol and I have oneright afyerthe other. I've seen many ashow of the same type but nothing like the original. So you back to work?
Oh gosh hope you and Jean and Marion too are safe from storms.
Well we did see Crissy or Bev or Shirley and Carolyn for Christmas so I hope there day was speacial too. And I do hope you are all well.

HEY sunshine glad to see you post! sure happy to see youve been busy busy a.d just having oodles of fun during the holidays.
Barbara hope you and Norm are doing well and no power outages. Although I can see you xericing in the dark lol well maybe not with the dvd. ..that was a cute envision.
Well We are continuing to keep Norman in prayers for another Clean year! And good health to both of you!! OH Yes, joyce says Hi and thank you for the prayers! She really appreciates them...She is doing ok another week with the neck brace and rehab.and a promise to stay off stairs.
Linda Kay, awe, sure hope the nasty cold gets over quickly! Sending you some heali.g armwraps...ha, bet you all thought Huh, wha...no story from the big blabby face here...lolol.
well I gotta tell ya I was the biggest liar, liar pants on fire, not once but a couple times while chattering with you Linda Kay...haha the very first time being when you asked who I got in the Santa exchange...the lie came soooo easy since our friends had not all received their names! Lol i was thankful for that! Then remember when I was talking about how a piece worked out and I could just pee, lol told you it about that foldi.g napkin thing, yeah right it was about the humming bird fitting together! Iggle, giggle giggle
Morning! Checking in early, in fact I thought I had posted a couple of hours ago. It is a winter wonderland out there with lots more snow to come. I am expecting the power to go off at some point so am all ready for that. Even remembered to charge my portable DVD player so I can watch some DVDs on it if need be. Cold here - well it is windy. I think I find it cold because we have been so spoiled temp wise for so long.
Oh LK hope you are feeling better today. Marian I hope Kim continues to be your 'warden' so you don't hurt yourself even more. How is Kim feeling now?
Betty I think you knew this was going to be an emotional time for both you and Darlene. Its hard and it doesn't matter how many years Roger has been gone he was your guy and you are going to hurt. Darlene has had so much thrown at her this year I am surprised she can even function most days, How long is she staying in Florida?
Judy did Jake make one of his famous breakfasts?
A neighbour sent down a turkey dinner meal for we to warm up - yum. I can't remember the last time I had sweet potatoes so I really ate that up quickly. I have a quirky dislike and it is I don't like gravy except in meat pies or stews. The mashed spuds on the plate my neighbour sent down had gravy on the top - it was so good and tasty I didn't care, ate ithem gravy and all. There was enough food on the plate for 2 huge meals so I plan to repeat the meal again today. IF I have hydro. Lights are flickering already .
Enjoy your day everyone and if you don't have to go out please stay home and off the roads.
Betty, you and I and I would assume Thea and Debbie are getting hit hard. Hope you have someone shovelling out your driveway.
DIanne
Good morning, we have at least 8 inches on the ground. DH never calls in for weather, but he did last night. He is out playing with the snowblower now and soon as he got the end of driveway done, the huge snowplow drove by! I think it has become a personal vendetta between them. LOL
Izzy is happy as a clam, she just loves snow. We played Jolly Ball for a bit, and I brought us both in to warm up.
Judy, DH gave me things I had specifically said would make my life easier during the year. A new "loaded" spice rack, which I love! A "one scoop" coffee maker so I dont' waste an entire pot when I only drink one cup. Two nice sweaters and a lumbar pillow for my computer chair that vibrates for my back. The girls gave me a few pots and pans I had asked for. One is a dutch oven, cast iron with enamel coating. And two Paula Dean skillets.
My favorite gift....was a picture of Carrie & Andy with my granddog Dolly. I guess all of the kids couldn't get together on that, but thats fine. Will photoshop my own! OHHHHH And I got a gift card from Cracker Barrel from Shannon. lol
Paul was out snow blowing and hit something. Stopped and pulled out DS's slipper all mangled!! We both looked at each other like "where's the rest of him"? Apparently he lost his shoe in the snow on the way in last night. Ooops.
Judy, what did Steve and the kids get you? Did you have a nice day? I had my "snowman soup" for breakfast yesterday. lol
Everyone stay warm and safe!
Debbie
What's "snowman soup"?
Husbands are such funny creatures......... I asked my DH last night if he wanted a ride into work today - I have the day off, until next Wed - and he said "yes, I have to carry my tool bucket in, so would appreciate it". Otherwise, he'd be walking & taking the bus.......
Well, he said "at the turn-off for the bus", so I turned and he got angry, cuz he wanted me to stop AT the turn-off, not follow the bus ON the turn-off, so he slammed the front door (as he got out) and slammed the back door (as he took his bucket out). I opened the front door and yelled "I love you" and he was still storming off. btw - the building he works at takes the entire block, so he can enter in any door on any of the four sides.
Well, I was just about to leave downtown, when I realized he'd left his coffee behind. I stopped at a light, and called his cell. Had to make 2 calls, cuz he didn't answer the 1st (likely had his phone on an inside pocket & it takes time to get it out). I drove around 5 blocks back, and when he opened the car door to get his coffee, he gave me a big kiss. Likely remembered that he GOT a ride, rather than taking 3/4 of an hour...... we only took 15 min & no walking (except around to another door) rofl! MEN!!! lol
Snowman soup was one of the gifts from Liz. Hot chocolate, with marshmallows and a candy cane to stir.
Judy, you are so sneaky, only you can pull off something like that! But I still love ya! ^_^
Susan, why do men do things like that?
Dianne, glad to hear you have turkey dinner, sure hope you don't lose your hydro. Stay warm please?
Debbie, sounds like you got some nice gifts from the kids!
What a neat name for it!!!
Good morning everyone,
tony missed work yesterday so we each lost one day to illness this season. Not bad. It's really chilly this morning.
I'm still smiling about Christmas. Helper Barbara reminded me of some gifts we've given other years. We hugged each other a lot whne we finished. We both agree that this is what makes our Christmas for us. Each year I seem to have a better time. There are always a few particularly memorable moments. This year on little girl - about seven - took one toy then asked politely if she could have second one. I said yes and she was very happy. Barbar and I both loved that. Fely, Tony's wife, and his children all thanked me sincerely for tehir presents. Also, Evonne, a cousin who get included, made a special point of hugging me and thanking me.
There are always a few kids who still believe and get that "Wow, Santa is here" look. Lots of hugs, especially from boys who are probably too old to hug the mothers and grandmothers but snuggle up to Santa.
Dana took a picture before we left. I'll see if she can post it later. We somegitmes get our pictures taken as we travel but we don't try to take pictures ourselves - too involved with the kids.
The kids loved the Mardi Gras toys and beads. I do wish I'd been able to get a picture of a boy of about ten decked out in Mardi Gras beads. The little footballs disapeared like bignets.
I spent yesterday working in my bedroom. making good progress.
hugs, katie
Bob doesn't like the directions I take, when I drive. Guess when he drives he knows the roads, and thinks I should drive EXACTLY like him...... but I refuse to be Exactly like him. I rather like me the way I am LOL
