Cute bear/tree. Love it!
Betty looks like you had a ton of fun. We had Bill's family Christmas on Sunday. We had brunch and oh my goodness we had a ton of food!!! I was miserable when we left I was so full!
Has anyone seen or heard from Susan?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today! chat with friends!
She has been most conspicuous in her absence, eh? Hope all is well with her.
Lovely gifts Ladies
Hope everyone is safe and warm

Sstrange weekend. Max the adopted sas an adult dog, bit my left hand. bad arip on left thumb and it's hard too type as the whole hasnd is wrapped up. Some pain, lots of shock. Ddana cannot believe 'm keeping Max but I know he's not mad st me. He attacks when he feels his life is threateneed. I've been bitten by an angry dog and it was scarey esp. as he wanted to bite me again. Max get life-threatened craazy but it's never avbbout me. He is so much better than when I got him ist's sa miricle but I still have to be wary at certain times.
A woman I was friends with about nine years ago showed up yesterday. She was sliving with aa man who hated me so we lost touch. She's done with him now and we had a wondrful. I really love her and I kept reminding her of things I remembered about her and how much we hads stalked about and learned from each other. She is in remission from stage 4 colon cancer. I'm still high from the visit. Tony was also sglad thiss morning to hear she had visited he also likes her a lot.
can't typze well. glad a lot of xmas stuff is done as I need to recover from the bite.
hgus, katie
Love that tree Thunder.
Katie, you make sure you get some anti biotic's for that bite please? Did you go to the doc for stitches? Man, that sounds so painful! Please keep an eye on it so it does not get infected.
Yikes Katie, not good at all, scarry situation..know you love Max but your safety comes first..is he protecting you when this urge to bite goes on? So glad you rekindled an old friendship, sometimes you can start the relationship right where you left off..sure hope so..How far does she live from you and can she come to help you while you are recouping??? keep watching the bite, if it gets infected it's nasty, nasty.
Jean how are you doing, you've also been MIA and I wondered if perhaps you were not well..Christmas shopping/cooking and cleaning takes up a lot of our time, take it easy!
Joyce, waving..if all goes according to plan will you be around Friday or early Saturday?? Paul did confirm no work on Friday so as long as no storm I could get close by.. Ann gave me your angels? or were they elves? that she gave a light coat of paint..they look so pretty..must drop them off..if you aren't at home I'll just set them in the screened in room.
As for Susan, think her contract got extended by a month and Bob did or is starting a new job..they are excited about that..I would think with all the organizations/church events that she is involved in she has little to no time to drop in..
Played with a pattern, should be organizing myself and kitties
Meant to add, love the tree/bear Thunder..talk about cute..
Dianne, any news re your MRI??
LindaKay, Luna feeling better?
Luna is doing better, I think she just needed to adjust to the new food, water and surrounding!
Got antibiotics and thumb is physically satbilized. It's stiff and a little painful. Am watching it, assisted by Dana. He thinks he is protecting himself. He panics and doesn't know that it's me he's attacking. kb
Love the Tree Thunder !
Oh Katie - please show Max you are the Alpha dog! Somehow your post reminded me of the book I am reading "Life of Pi" I can say I have already learned a lot from this book.....
Judy so glad to see you ! Sometimes its just good to get away. I feel like that with DH... we don't get a lot of time to chat and sometimes just enjoy heading somewhere by ourselves...
Perhaps Susan is busy with the new job...
Congrats Betty on office closing early ! What will you do Christmas morning? will the boys come back by ?
Hugs
Mary
Morning all,
Mild out there again, sure hope it stays that way until I leave Friday, would be nice knowing I've no blizzards to contend with while driving the northern roads..
Mary, as for Christmas morning I and the boys will all be in different parts of the country..with Darlene going through such a difficult time I'm not sure what to expect or do..know she wants Christmas, new Years and the 1st anniversary of Mike's death over with and it will be overwhelming for her. I'm ok with whatever happens, just have to feel like last Sunday was Christmas when I and the boys got together. Likely I'll be able to call Jeff and the boys but won't be able to reach Greg on Dominican ? We shall say 'merry Christmas' Thursday before they fly out.
Katie here is hoping the wound is clearing of any infection.
Marion how are you and Kim doing today?
Thoughts are with Bev and Shirley this morning, hoping they are fine!
Debbie, knowing you, you are running around like crazy getting everything done..Christmas at your house, the girls or at in-laws this year..has Shane been putting in his hours.
Crissy, if you get time to read but not post know you are also in my thoughts..sitting here next to Mrs rudolf...love her and her high boots. Lol
Dianne, Diesel behaving and Quill, sure is a fighter, being so ill and now on the mend
Christmas is but a week away, are you ready?? Who is in the midst of baking goodies?
Morning,
Betty, I finally put the tree up yesterday, the little 3 ft. one....it went over twice so far. DH put a clamp on the leg to hold onto table, so they knocked the whole thing over. Still have not bought one gift for anyone. Will have Christmas here unless I can convince Jeanna...which I may try too....long as I bake the turkey.
Shane washed firetrucks all weekend for four different fire halls. He only does the community service on the weekends.
Have a rain here also.
Debbie
Good Morning All.
Thanks for asking Betty, I have been reading here, but busy...helping GS study for Final exams and cooking presents...grin. The children in my life are easy to buy for, but the adults are not. Decided this year I was not going to buy things to stick on a shelf or in a drawer. My FIL loves hot apple pie with extra sharp Cheddar, so made a couple dozen 6 inch pies for the freezer and got a nice extra sharp white cheddar for him. Put together a package for DD in Australia filled with her favorite La. goodies and some home-baked favorite cookies and candies. My son always says, "I don't need anything Mom", so I made a huge pot of Reuben Soup and one of Turkey/sausage gumbo and divided into single serving containers for his freezer along with a couple batches of his favorite cookies, will make sure he has something yummy for lunch at work. Been doing the same for a few close friends and since the orange trees are loaded with fruit, adding a dozen or so sweet La oranges to the baskets with cookies and fudge.
GS and I have been running to stay ahead of a cold, but think the cold is winning...8>(
Katie, hope the hand heals quickly. Poor Max...it is so sad to see them scared and defensive like that. Glad you got a catch-up visit with your friend.
Good thoughts to you all for good health and happiness.
a little chuckle for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih6W19KTlZo
lol, think you need a new tree base Debbie or a new tree!
Hope no family heirloom decorations were on it.
Good for Shane, sooner he gets his hours done the better..has he been looking for employment or is he still working at restaurant/bar?
Still time to make Christmas arrangements, would be nice if you only had to cook the turkey..I can see you are not UP to Christmas this year.
Jean, what lovely gifts, homemade is always the best! I'm sure the family will appreciate especially those in Australia!
Can see why your grandson does so well with his grades, has grandma helping out!!! Lucky him..
Off to check out your link, could use a chuckle today
This year I am putting my money where THEIR mouth is....GRIN For my DD, there are foods here that she can not get in AU, or they are so very expensive due to import/transit costs. What we pay a couple dollars for may cost $10-15 there.
Good Morning...
I'll be back to make decent post later this after noon!
So far I have been majorly and totally Discombonulated,
Yesterday picking up and dropping Julia, litterally backwards, meaning I went to her work to pick her up..had to drive back and pick up drop off and later pick up again! you already know I left all my stuff in van...whew, got that back so will be busy today playing major catchup! Then this morning, I mean right out of bed, thought yay its going to be a good one...And it was until i, misunderstood DH and DESTROYED a check for a nice sum of money!! Would have saved me for Christmas, except for my utter stupidity!..So already got the letter in the mail to get another one, but who knows how long that will take, sighs.
So, thats been the extent of my existence as of late! LOL, I think i need to get a job and put my brains back to work!
Jake is sick! so no running him back and forth, but now Im off to Run Julia...make my planned stops on the way back and Then get on these projects...Plus today, Liz and i are to bake some cookies, so looking forward to that!!
To my Christmas Girl, if everything goes well and according to plan...Packing sleigh and off tomorrow for sure.
Ok, I sure hope your days are going Well and Good so far!!
See you in a bit.
Betty, there is nothing wrong with the tree. It is the kittens!!! We gave up last year and purchased a little 3 ft pre-lit from Walmart as the kitties won't leave the tree
alone. Even the 13 year old would climb and sleep among the branches. I bought all plastic and non-breakable ornaments on it. Just tired of redecorating it.
The Christmas Spirit is something I just can't fake...I would prefer to celebrate the real reason for the season and forget all this "hoop-la". Especially with all going on in the world and adult children in need of major time out.
This truck was headed to DH's work to deliver the silver bars. They have a huge safe in the middle of the building that houses it all and is used for part of the
process to make other products for companies.
http://www.wbng.com/news/local/Truck-Carrying-Silver-Crashes-183797061.html
Fell asleep at the wheel with millionss in the truck. oh, my.
We are getting truckloads of stuff dredged from the Sea of Cortez dumped on our western slope. Lots of work that Tony and I have done is being buried but it's good rich earth (with lots of rocks) so I think it's to the good. over all.
My htumb seems to be healing OK. Still wrapped and it will take a while to get all the movement back but i don't think there wwill be any permanent damage. no signs of infection. Max is still jumpy at times. He's learning to trust much more and I'm learning to respect that he's going to snap if he feels threatened. We're both learning.
Hope Susan's job will become permanent and she loves it. Sounds good so far.
I'm still a little numb in the head but can put bows on toys so I'm OK.
hugs, katie
we put our tree in a playpen, one year to keep the kitten out of it.... did same another year with puppies...worked very well.
Oh no Judy, is the cheque coming from a distance, could they not put a stop payment and at your expense send it overnight express?? Steve must not have been smilling..yikes that isn't good..perhaps you are trying to do too much.
Debbie, funny, Riley has not interest in tree or presents, Missy just loves hearing the paper rustle that is in the bags. As for the true meaning of Christmas I don't think we'll ever see what we used to celebrate..wish we would though..keep trying to keep some of our traditions but it's hard.
Lordy Debbie, picking up one of those bars you could have had one heck of a Christmas! Lucky the men were not more injured.
Sitting all on my lonesome, folding some christmas scrapbooking paper to include in the package I'm sending to Thunder to try those Christmas cards we did a few years back..once she has the idea she'll be able to purchase ribbons and tape to her liking.
only noon, now what can I do to entertain myself???
cut out some snowflakes for a piece I started yesterday..Darlene doesn't want to think christmas but she loves birds so the quilt block will have snowflakes and red cardinals in the tree and it won't come over as "Merry Christmas" but simply something to give her during Christmas holidays
Now that is creative Thunder..not sure but when you get your cards think directions are on this

Katie, start talking to him softly as you approach him and even when feeding. Your quiet tone of voice should help him relax. Isabelle had some issues when a pup and I taught her "leave it" when she would start to nip or bite. She can be going for a steak or something and I say "leave it" and she sits. Keep an eye on the hand.for sure, I had a serious cat bite about 10 years ago.
Thunder, no room for a playpen...and these critters jump and climb. I did put the tree in playpen with the two oldest girls were little....that worked great. BUT not for climbing kitties.
Crissy received her "Santa box" yesterday and called me. She had to work til about 11:00 so was going to open when she got home.
She was giggling as I was sending her emails "Your Santa wants to know.....???" And all these questions. Then she found out I had her name from return
address!! lol
Debbie, when we had kittens a few years back, DH installed a hook in the ceiling and we hung a small (3ft) tree from the hook. None of the kittens could clear the 4 to 5 ft distance and we had a ball watching them try.
Can't wait to see what you sent Crissy!
Judy, how in the world did a check get destroyed!
Years ago, my dad lost his wallet, just after payday, and it was Christmas time. They tore everything in the house apart looking, and could not find it, so someone suggested they check the trash. Well the trash was picked up just before he realized his wallet was missing, so off to the dump they went, after several hours of searching, they found it! Mom was so relived!
Well, here is my twisted wreath table topper, but I think I goofed big time, putting them together, but I am not going to take it apart at this point, so I will quilt it, put a binding on it, and call it done! At least I tried! :)
Thanks Betty
Betty, when you cut out the twisted blocks, which way did you turn them to join the edges? I turned mine clockwise, and this is what I got?
Your piece turned out lovely but not as it should, whoever you give it to will not know that
I started from the right bottom side, cut the 1st one, then the second one without removing then took the first one and layed it on the 2nd and did my seam on right hand side..then opened it and position the 2nd block back in it's hole till I cut block 3 then did the same
Debbie can't wait as well to see what Crissy got..am sure she will be thrilled, rough time for her this Christmas..only thing that would give her an up is if the Judge called and gave her the house..here's hoping judge will play santa
Jean, saw some of those trees hanging from the ceiling, they look interesting, not sure how the decorations stay on though
You just decorate the tree as usual, tie a loop of heavy cord to the top and hang the whole thing from the hook. Then I secured the tree topper to the cord. Didn't lose a single ornament. It was an artificial tree, so no water needs and we wrapped the trunk with foil paper like a bouquet.
Amazing..did you take any photo's
bet your tree was the talk of the family.
Sister Sharon is returning from Florida this afternoon, her dog won mega categories so all and all she is pleased with the competition
Jean, I am so in awe of what you did for your family for Christmas. That is such a fantastic idea.....might just try that in the future. My sister is the worst person for not cooking for herself........well did cook at all until Mom got sick. I could plan ahead and do things like that for her during the year. I won't say much about her not eating as I can remember how hard it was to cook for just 1.
Katie, I am adding my comments about your bite. Do, do take care of it!! I have had several cat bites over the years but the last time my cat bit me it was rather serious. Animal bites are not to be messed with...but I am sure you now that.
Extremely tired today. I found out late last night a friend died and I could just not rest after hearing that. She was a very dear lady who had COPD. So the midnight oil was on and then an early thirty alarm so I could make it to my MRI on time. Hurry up and got there on time only to wait over an hour before they took me in.......I could have had an extra hour of sleep. Results should be in either late tomorrow or Thursday for sure.
Barb, can't wait to see your twisted quilt!
Marion, sure hope they have a diagnosis, and a plan to fix what ever is wrong with your knee.
A few years ago, I was having, problems with my knee, Dr. ordered the MRI, told me imhad a cyst, and had surgery to fix it. Well, when she cut my my knee for the cyst, she found that imhad torn my knee cap, so she had o repair that as well. The torn knee cap was not discovered with the MRI.
Barb, anxiously awaiting the outcome of the twist..they look so different when cut and resewn..have the 10" in envelope waiting to send out (more than I envelope)
MRI's the doctor's say are given for much and they aren't coming with the real results..got to wonder
Betty, Bertie and I are planning to do lunch on Friday, but should be back by late afternoon. You know that you and Darlene AND the kitties are welcome here!
That bedroom is just waiting for you! I'll be here all day Saturday as far as I know. I have your car phone number, so I may be calling to check up on you!!!Can't wait to see you.
I have your Pond Calendar. I am so proud of the way it turned out. PLUS I found out Saturday evening that my pond made an article in the KOI magazine as well. Gosh I'm just beaming here from ear to ear!!! Judy, you said you wanted a calendar and I ordered you one, they are $10.00 so if you don't want it I have no doubt that I can get rid of it somewhere!
Love the tree on the ceiling idea! So far so good with the cats and kittens here. They're just sleeping under it, not climbing it!
Joyce, will be driving Darlene's vehicle and no phone..but keep an eye on this site, will try to eat or stop in areas that have wifi and I'll update
Well - I guess the goofs happen to all of us right???? I was all set to start to cut the twisted wreath when what to my surprise did I find? I had cut the squares too small. I kept looking at the 3.5" square you sent Betty and then proceeded to cut my squares at 3.5" instead of the 5" they were supposed to be!! Talk about feeling stupid. I know better than that! So now I need to find something to do with this piece and start over again.....More later!!! I need to see what I have to go with the striped material. I don't have any more of the first green so need to go through the stash!!!
I cut mine to the size Betty sent the template for, did I goof on that too? Guess we live and learn?
Yep, 5" blocks, think somewhere I mentioned that and also mentioned they say you loose 1/4 of the sewn 5" blocks width and height but I think the loss is more than that..
Did you watch the video??
I feel bad..your piece turned out nice LindaKay so maybe Barb could also cut hers out as well
When I place the template on the lines there is not enough room left to a block for the next cut....How did you cut yours LK?
