SWEET INTERRUPTIONS # 250

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh oh, I'd do the same, bring some goodies to help out, would never go and not bring something!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I don't mind ppl bringing things but jeez I hate duplicates....bring something different, right?? Doug told her every single thing I was making. So then when she saw my pie "Oh, you made a pie????" Then when I was taking stuffing out "Oh, you made stuffing too?" So either she forgot or.............................

Victoria Harbour, ON

Look on positive side, am sure she just wanted to please you and help out..not sure about your house, everyone could bring dressing and we would still be looking for more!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

You're so right, in this household! We love stuffing....... almost like it better than the turkey (mind you, I did say almost lol)

good morning
lets face it ladies. As women we are competitive with our food. If someone says " don't bring anything i got it covered " .... we bring something cuz we don't want to feel like we can't make food. We want to display our goodies . We don't want to hear about another womans food being oh so delicious. When we don't have any of our goods to sample. LOL lets be honest ladies ... ain't that the truth ? I m guilty as charged LOL

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Hadn't thought about it like that Sue, but you know, I think you are so right.

Just read on the news that Larry Hagman (?)died yesterday........peace to JR.

Not much going on except getting ready to watch the annual state rivalry in football.

Enjoy the day everyone.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sue, you are SO right. We're a competitive lot that way. Even though I don't think of myself as competitive........

Sad to hear Larry Hagman died....... I still remember him in I Dream Of Jeannie........

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Love that movie!!! I hope they brought some jackets for the game as it is predicted to be on the chilly side and temps dropping later. Could be wrong but ........

GO NOLES!!!!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

That is a terrific movie! It's "On Demand" on TV right now, so gonna wait and see if it comes cheaper on DVD. Saw it in the theatre a few months ago....

Friend of ours is at the Grey Cup........ Bob gave her a ride to the airport to go to Toronto on Friday. She's back in Calgary on Dec 16th (going to Barbados after Toronto).

Oh he died ? oh what a shame. he wasn't that old was he ? was he ill ? sending healing energy to his family.

It looks good on the trailers, and a movie critic said it was good, but.... y'know it takes friends to tell me!

My job went well today – one of the other secretaries said it was a very “laid back place” but it is busy. I know I impressed my boss (Lora) cuz when she had me go into her email (only 70 new ones through the day…..) I found 2 that were flights for today (CGY to EDM and return tonight), and she hadn’t checked in, so I did for her. Printed her boarding passes.
Then I found a meeting for tomorrow that she needed to have a printout for and she hadn’t, so I did for her.
I’m going to a Sharepoint training out of the city tomorrow afternoon, and taking minutes at a meeting afterwards.
I set up a luncheon date for her and someone that will be in meetings with her, later on.
She had asked me to enter about 100 business cards into her Outlook contact list, so that’s all done too. They couldn’t be scanned, so had to type them in. I got my computer access, and set up some other things for me. She left early this afternoon, so I will see her tomorrow am, and we can discuss what’s been done, and what I need to do.

Bob said he was in an Orientation today, and there were 30 attendees! It surprised the facilitators, cuz they weren't expecting so many.
Afterwards he took a test – some office skills, math, and invoicing. Guess they want to see where they “are” so they know what type of training to put them in?!

One thing……. It’s awkward as all heck to get to the office – have to walk up 5 blocks to the train. I made an error in the dark leaving - ended up I had to walk back 2 blocks to the beginning….. so it was 9 blocks, and my knee is still not healed enough to take long walks like that. I was hurting by the time I got on the train. Anyway, Bob picked me up at the train stn so that was good. Headed home and made dinner, now he’s out at his bowling league tonight. Rush, Rush lol
Think I’ll do the 7:30 to 4:30 shift, instead of 8:00 to 5:00….. easier to leave downtown at 4:30!

http://dyingforchocolate.blogspot.com/2011/03/baileys-irish-cream-fudge.html

Guess what I am going to make this week end!

BAILEY'S IRISH CREAM FUDGE

Ingredients:
2-12 oz milk chocolate (35-45% cacao), chopped, or 2-12 oz packages of milk chocolate chips
12 oz. dark chocolate (65-85% cacao), chopped or a 12 oz. package semisweet chocolate chips
2-7oz. jars of marshmallow creme
2 teaspoons of Madagascar vanilla extract
2/3 cups of Bailey's Irish Cream
2 cups of chopped nuts (optional)
4 1/2 cups of granulated sugar
1-12oz. can of evaporated milk
1/2 pound of unsalted butter, softened

Directions:
1. In a very large bowl, combine the milk chocolate chips, semisweet chocolate chips, marshmallow cream, vanilla extract, Irish Cream, and nuts (if you are adding them). Set this mixture aside.
2. Line a 10 X 15 baking pan with foil and spread lightly with butter.
3. In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar, evaporated milk, and butter. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat and cook slowly, stirring constantly for about 10 minutes.
4. Pour the milk mixture into the the chocolate chip mixture. Stir slowly by hand to combine. It is very important to do this by hand and NOT use any kind of mixer.
5. Pour the fudge into the prepared pan and chill until set.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yummmmmmmmmy!! - I saved it and when I get some Bailey's, I'll make it!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Linda - my address is in the Extras!!!!!!! Boy does that sound good. But I would have to hide it from Norm as he is diabetic.....But I'm not!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

^_^

It does sound good. I went to our true value hardware store yesterday, and they had a candy stand there, giving away samples of fudge, I had to try the Irish cream flavor, and it was so good, so I came home and Googled Irish cream fudge, and found that one. I have the Irish cream, I just need to get the rest of the items.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Maybe I'd settle for just the Irish Creme!!!! Actually, I'm a Kaluha girl myself...... but there is an affinity to Baileys as well.....

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

ROFLOL, Barb you and I are in the same boat with the Kaluha.....I also like Bailey's Irish Creme but Kaluha tops the list. Hummm, note to self: why couldn't you use Kaluha instead of Irish Creme? Might be worth a try. Give it to a very dear friend who also happens to be our Vet who also loves Kaluha also. That way Kim won't be tempted.....nor me either.
