We have been sooo busy.. Larry was blowing leaves off the roof, decks, stairs and around the house.. and on into the woods.. He is to do a burn later on .. maybe January of February.. and I have been baking up a storm for the church Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow..

You all sound like you really have a head start on the holidays... mercy.. I wish I was as organized. but I am not...

Speaking of the Indian thang.. I am part Blackfoot.. and I never minded being called Indian.. or Native American.. either way is okay.. as long as it is said in a nice tone of voice.. lol

I have part of my swap gift ready.. but need to add just a few more touches.. and should have it ready to go right after the first of the month..

As far as I'm concerned we're all human beings, and children of God. I've heard it said that the reasons we are all different colours is that God "loves variety" :-) After all, look at all the beautiful colours of flowers and the rainbow!!

I am part "Indian" too... LOL Or Native American. Grandma said it was my "BIg Toe"... but I was always VERY proud of it I suppose because my very first "Famous Person Crush" was CHER... I LOVED her and would Swoosh my long blonde hair like she did... I begged My mom when I was little to dye my hair black like hers !

Carolyn... Sounds like a lovely Church Thanksgiving Dinner.. what dishes will be there? I am only ahead on Holidays because I get my commission check on Monday and will have to use it for Christmas and that is all. I hope to be *done* by 11/30.

Glad the memory foam is working out. Those cutco knives are EXPensive ! Probably threw out gold with the potato peels !

I AM FINISHED with the bedroom cleaning. NO DUST is in here! and I told Belle she could no longer shed in here also.

HUGE Chore down on to the next. While cleaning I put Pandora on Musical and it played Disney, South Pacific, Sound of Music, etc. LOL

Promised myself, no told myself I had to sleep in today, look at the time, been up for 1/2 hour, propped up in bed telling myself 'sleep Betty sleep..wonder how long before I give up and start my day!

Congratulation to Kim Marion, she has worked hard, hope with new qualifications major $$$ increase comes with it. You are entitled to gloat, I'm sure you stood by her side a good part of the time urging her on. Here is hoping she will be over cold/ flu and you can still travel to see and visit with your mom for Thanksgiving.

As for native Indians I grew up with a family Next door, very best friends..Annabelle,David, Malcolm and Bobby..I was so blessed with them in my life. Their mother Kathleen would ather us around the table, we would have cole oil lamp on, you would see flickering of the light, making shadows across the wall and she would tell us ghost stories.. Heart warming memories. Susan, yes, nice way to think of 'color'/race..

Mary, can see you singing and flitting around the room with dust mop in hand in a dreamworlds all of your own..bet you stand at the doorway smiling at what you accomplished, an overwhelming task behind you.nice to get a bonus cheque tp help out with Christmas shopping..have in mind what kids want/need?? That is the part that zaps up energy, trying to figure it out and stay within budget.

Guess I can bring in my bags and see what treasures I bought yesterday. Did. Buy a roll.of 2' wide silver netting ribbon for the snowman tree, wonder if maybe I can attempt putting up the tree and doing it justice?

Marion - gloat away! A "Specialist degree" - now what is that? Hope she gets over her cold soon.......

Bob leveraged a $100 gift certificate to a restaurant (he was given it as thanks by a customer at his previous job) into eaves troughing for our home plus for our friend's home (he did this and other work at our friend's, and she paid him for it). So, we ended up with $200 in addition, so that's good. I'm feeling good about that. Now we have some $$ for bills....
We didn't have eaves troughing before. Bob placed the downspout so it runs into our front berm right where we have an overhang and never got rain before. The other end of the downspout is where I can put a rain barrel, so I'm happy about that. Otherwise, the rain barrel is where it would just depend on the rain, and it's under a big ole fur tree and doesn't get much rain there.

Good morning everyone, I was sore yesterday after working on Friday but I sitll got some more work done and talked with Tony about what we might do next week now that we are both feeling better. I slept well last night. Lots of mosquitoes so I finally put a fan on and then they didn't bother me. Don't know where they are coming from.

Some good news. I've won $115 this week playing poker. Last night I came in 6th out of 1500 people to win $100. I'm happy about the money but also that my brain seems to be working better. Having evidence of both physical and mental recovery is great. Helps get me through the times when I feel I'm just going down hill.

Got more tires to wash and paint today if I get a burst of energy. Otherwise, the tv is calling.

My bean plants are blooming. Soon we'll have lots of green beans - my favorite as a staple veggie.

Went to Walmart, realized that changing my tree into to a snowman and the one decorated when I bought snowman head/top hat that it had red balls, not just silver so bought a few boxes, then with all of you speaking about Thanksgiving and tempting me with the thought of turkey/dressing/turnip decided to have same today..yummy yummy, in the oven and I've reminded myself not to burn it.

Love the rotating stand, will look adorable and I'll enjoy the snowman ..have the lazer on it..for a gal who didn't think she would put out decorations this year, wowzers..it's starting to look a lot like Christmas here..my only problem, have 3 trees, think the wrong one is upstairs..hmmm should I leave it set up or not

Sniffling and runny nose, better take more neocitrin or I shall be n bed for a few days..guess when one is tired, easy to catch a cold.

Thanks everyone for commenting on Kim. Yes, it was tough at times what with her grandmother's issues; teaching full days with no planning period and taking 2 courses per term. Betty, yes, yes, yes there will be $$$$ dollars in her check...funny thing though, it only brings her up to what she was making 3 years ago when all the cuts went into place plus furlough days.

Susan, a degree that those in education usually get after the Masters (Kim has 2 MAs) and just before the EDD (doctorate in education). Yes, there is talk but a break for now.

Mary, I visualized you "flitting" around with all the Disney music playing. Love it..one way to accomplish chores. Me? I would most likely have Les Miz playing. Need to get my stereo up and working.

Another day of really high winds. Not that cold but the winds can do you in quickly.

At least I got most of my tree up, few other finishing touches..with leaving before Christmas decided that I shall not put up the other 2 trees inside..may get ambitious enough later today to go out and put christmas lights up..tiring as the day goes on..lol

Sure wish a photo could do the tree justice..with all lights flickering only a few here and there show up..colors in the tree do not..maybe tonight when it's darker.

Just had company, how come you always get company when you are in a mess..girlfriend having kid/hubby problems..needed to vent..not sure if I was a help or not..did have a nice visit..she brought timmies and a muffin..I tried to talk her into having turkey dinner with me but she said she had to run..kept the muffin for later then remembered I took pies ut of the freezer.

Lordy supper was delicious, pays to watch the stove. Lol
Melanie is working afternoons this week so will invite Greg and the boys gor supper tomorrow night..cooked enough for 2 big families (as always)

Must go put a few bins back in the shed, decided as long as I feel christmas'y no need to take out another 15 tote

I would find it so overwhelming having thanksgiving so close to Christmas..you would just finish with one and time to get ready for the other

LOL no Susan she isn't highly educated, she is just very interested in her field of work and likes challenges. Her dad had to tell her when she was an undergrad, quit taken courses that just interest you and finish your degree....after 7 years. We always did call her "the sponge".
Her pay scale is based on years teaching and degrees so she moves up a step...that opens her up for more raises.....when they start given them again.

Looks like Thanksgiving is getting more and more in jeopardy. No improvement with the cold and now mom is telling Sue she is afraid we will still be carrying germs. Guess it is a good thing I already have a turkey bought.

Dianne you were in my kitchen with me today. Obviously I made sure last year to keep your Pie Tips... I saved them on this computer in my bedroom. Printed them yesterday. When I went to the kitchen and opened up my cookbook to "PIE" another copy fell out ! Made Apple pie and crust from scratch today... much improvement from last year... DS and I also made 3 cheese balls and I made Spinach Madeline... all for Thanksgiving.

Pie crust looked so great.....Husband said he's gonna start calling me Crusty !

Could I have made the pie but rather than cook it... Freeze it ? Then defrost and cook Thanksgiving day ?

Mary, got the snowman head at cracker barrel last weekend, they have such different decorative items from time to time.

Think boys are easier to buy for..always seem to be into something.. This year not the norm, done except for Jeff and his two boys..if they don't come up with somethink (boys) I'll get them a prepaid visa, that way they can spend it where they may..Jeff, hmmm maybe gift certificate from kayak and bike shop??

Looks like it will be a long night, headaches stem from back of head, I must need an alignment lol

Mary - I had a rain barrel for the past 2 years, and when it Really rains, it's good. If it's just regular rain, I may not get any under the fir tree. A friend of mine has her rain barrel up too, and I look after her garden some years. When I do, and use the water from the barrel, it's Great! Just wish the spout was a little higher up, cuz the watering can doesn't fit well under it (she bought a new, tall one), and it isn't hooked up to a hose.

Way to go Mary!!! Making that pie crust isn't so hard is it? Sounds like your Thanksgiving meal is going to be delicious.

Betty your tree looks wonderful. Not sure I am even going to put up 1 of the feather trees this year.Does your headache go away once you have slept or is there still some lingering when you get up?

The doc didn't fax my Rx back to the village drug store in time on Friday so I have had a sleepless weekend. Good thing I had some new books to read and DVDs to watch.Did watch Magic Mike though. Its a little short on plot line I must say.
I am spending a lot of the daylight hours outside - I seem to be playing catchup out there. The wood pile looks less intimidating now though. Used my new log splitter yesterday afternoon. Took a few moments for me to figure out how to use it safely when I am working by myself.

Diesel - all 70 lb of him is in my bad books. I just realized a few moments ago he has dug up all 200 tulip bulbs I just planted. Grrrrr!!!! He is prancing around the house right now with a sqeaky toy in his mouth aggravating the heck out of all of us. I have to find something to trade him for that sqeaky.

Yikes, didn't listen to my messages yesterday, got a call from Suzanne to let me know my MIL (who passed on last weekend) only sister Shirley died early morning yesterday..funeral Wednesday..likely I will go to the viewing but not the funeral..

Think a tractor trailer or two ran me over..aching in every bone of my body..must be a type of cold/flu..

Our Municipality Susan was giving to taxpayers rain barrels, I was going to get one then decided the likelyhood of me using it would be next to nil so didn't..spoud is low to the ground, you would think they would come up with better design.

OMG Dianne, although Diesel is aggravating you all, bet you still think he's cute...guess this morning you will be back outside planting bulbs..naughty/naughty Diesel! 70 lbs..lordy he's growing to be quite a size..he'll be dragging you all over the yard before long. Worry about you using that log splitter, dangerous it could be..Guess you will be sitting at the drug store waiting for the doors to open to get those meds..

All of you will have quite the few days preparing for Thanksgiving..called Jeff and Greg this morning re their Aunt Shirley's death..while speaking with Greg I asked him/boys for turkey dinner tonight, said he'd come..then spoke with Jeff re presents for he and the boys..said they need nothing..no help there..did say that Braedon will be going in late February to NYC maybe change a few hundred $$$ into USA funds, that would give him extra spending money so will do that and maybe a little gift to open, if Jeff and Caleb keep this up they will have nothing under the tree!!!!!

My husband got some of the cinder blocks to put our rain barrel on....he used 8 blocks and stacked them 2 high. That raised the whole thing up 16 inches and makes it very easy to use.

Betty - you have to put a rain barrel onto a raised platform so the water flows down. The spout should be overhanging the edge, with the barrel itself on the platform. Marlene's barrel was too far onto the platform, so the spout didn't overhang. That's because she wanted to rest the watering can ON the platform because she has no arm strength. For that, the spout was too low. If she'd had a hose connected, it would be better. The spout, btw, is at "chin level" for her and a bit higher for me lol

I didn't want to be Cher - I wanted to be Lisa Minelli....... short dark hair, and Very dramatic!

btw - wanna hear something funny?!?! I went to my Drs for a physical, and Forgot that I'd had a hysterectomy about 18 years ago....... and agreed to a Pap test LOL Now, how funny is that?

Won't have to clean up my craft room, happy about that..sorry I invited Greg and the boys for supper, feeling terrible, would just as well have gone home/hot bath/bed..I'll be feeding them then shoo'ing the off

Thanks Mary - I know that even here in our little group there are those that are sight/walking/hearing challenged...... I'm blessed to know you all, and you're perfect in my mind's eye!!

The Thanksgiving dinner at church was a wonderful success.. as usual.... There was ham, turkey, both roasted and deep fried... and casseroles of all sorts and flavors... gravies, several kinds of salads......and desserts to beat the band.. oh my.. My rolls and pies got gone in a hurry.. Larry was disappointed cuz he didn't get any of my pie.. so he got a large chunk of cake with whipped icing on it.. looked good.. But I had a pumpkin pie at home for him.. so that made him a happy camper.

Last night he shot a buck.. one shot.. one buck.. what an aim this man has..he is a good hunter..

Today his brother came in from Missouri.. and is staying the night.. before going back.. which is nice..

Larry cooked dinner tonight for the two of them... pork chops and fried taters.. but I wasn't so hungry, so I just fixed me a couple of fried shrimp.. and salad.. and now I am enjoying a Pomegranite margharita.. yummmmmm..

Got my list of goodies to make for Thanksgiving.. and lucky me.. Larry is a wonderful cook and a lot of help in the kitchen.. so it will be awesome and I will be able to really enjoy this holiday with him...

As I read all the posts, I realize I am amidst a lot of very talented folks.. wow.. I can learn a lot from y'all.. just got to take notes.. LOL
