Looks like we are having an early Thanksgiving on Monday, both of my boys will be at a tattoo convention this week end, and then they will both be coming here for Thanksgiving, I will be cooking ham with all the trimmings. Guess I need to get the vacuum out and chase a few dust bunnies! Looks like there will be about 10 of us here for dinner.

Love the pressies quilt Barb, is it a wall hanging, or lap quilt?

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

ohhh just look at those presents!!! I might just have to make that one yet???!!! I have three different patterns for present quilts, and I am going crazy trying to decide which one to do.....arrghhhh.... LOL

Shirley!! ^_^ so very good to see you, sure hope you can get some more of your goodies from old place... and sure hope we will see you a bit more often

uhmmm I think I have one of the books??? butttttt I have not read it yet....

Betty, I have those place mats sitting here in fallish colors, waiting to be quilted.

I may end up with my whole gang here for thanksgiving, still waiting to hear just what day and time Levi and crew will arrive, and Kyle has not said If the Navy is gonna let him come home or not?? can't see why not though?? He is not in classes, just in a "holding pattern", spending days doing odd jobs...waiting to be sent to Chicago for another class.

Marion, I get to baby sit on Saturday after thanksgiving !! Levi and Meg are going to the noles / gator game !! He is very excited :) first time he gets to actually go to one of their games !!! I was thinking I'd try to give him some money to buy a shirt or something. got any Idea how much they would be at a game???

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hi all - boy, such lovely "present" type quilts! love, love, love 'em!

Went to a Community Garden Committee Meeting tonight......2 hrs long. I'm tired, fried, feeling a bit like a "weak link" Ah well, I do what I can......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like your going to have a houseful too Thunder!

This site says the shirts are $25.00.

Susan, hope you got a good nights sleep?

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I was wondering if they are more expensive at a game???

I am off to work in a couple minutes.....Hope Y'all have a great day!!

morning all

Cool day out there, kind of outdoor work day, wish I didn't have to stay near the phone..thinking of all I could accomplish. if I could be outside likely I wouldn't get it done anyway.

Awww Thunder, absolutely adorable..see where she gets her looks! By the sounds of it you will be cooking up a storm, nice to have family...bet the shirts are almost double in price because they are from the game.

Susan, hope you slept well, any results from the tests you have undergone?

Was up extra early, put Suzanne's rag quilt together, likely enough to do another but I told her if and only if I got all my projects done would I attempt it. Now working on quilting the 2 sets of 6 placemats..should be done by noon.

Decided early morning that I'd bring totes to back deck here and there and decorate for Christmas..so far have 2 to put out..if I do a tote here and there shouldn't be overwhelming..will give me a break between sewing

If I go to grocery store tonight think I'll get a turkey..your thanksgiving is making me hungry!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thunder, yes shirts will much more expensive at the game. I would suggest they find a Walmart close by and shop there. There is are several with quick distance of the stadium.

I, however, will be enjoying the game in the comfort of my family room with some hand work in progress. Been there, done that and just can't handle the crowds any more........but then I am much older than your son. :-) Tell them I hope they really enjoy the day.....sounds like fun for sure.

Lyndonville, NY

Looks like it is football night? I am going to be at the Buffalo Bill's / Miami game tonight at Bills stadium. I will no doubt be the ONLY Miami fan, and I can't
even wear my Miami attire as I could get injured. They are not a nice lot.

Walmart is the better place to get the shirts, much cheaper. JCPenny has them also!

Waving hello....on our way out soon. Have had a sick pup again today, spent almost 1 1/2 hours at vet. She is home and on meds.

Debbie

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hi thanks for asking - I slept well, but Bob didn't. He was up 3x in the night.
We went to welfare today, to register, and they gave us some options for employment for Bob & I. Bob's leaving the boss who is not concerned whether he comes to work or not. He never phoned this am at all to see if Bob was coming.....
I'm to call a specific agency that helps match employee & employer....

We'll be able to pick up a food hamper on Monday - so that's a good thing!
If we get a job by Dec 1st, then we "move to the top of the list" about getting welfare. If we don't, then we will have to wait 2 weeks longer to get financial assistance. Doesn't make sense to me, but there you have it. They said I have to accept ANY job I'm offered.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, yell hard, let Miami know they have a die hard fan in the crowd!

Brrr worked on projects all day, just realized temps must be dropping quickly, sooo cold.

Got the rag quilt done, placematts ready or edging, 95% of a quilt quilted only to run out of blue three. Tempted to run to Walmart but out of energy so will take a run early in the am...wouldn't that just frost you, so close to finishing yet so far.

Knock came to the door, man with clip board, said he was from some energy company, told him if there was a problem with my service or statement I'd deal with it..he was adamant that he must come in..I said no I'll call my provider in the a.m. So he says but that is why I'm here...I said you are not coming in and locked the door..don't be alarmed, screen door was locked and the minute I closed that door I quickly locked back door..gee whizz Louise, they don't take no for an answer.

Susan, sending hugs and prayers..so glad there are agencies out there to help. Only temporary, there are jobs for you both, just overwhelming that it isn't today.

Marion have you made popcorn, are you ready for the game..perhaps we will see Debbie on the big screen...search he crowds

Then the paper boy came, hand delivers my Thursday evening community paper, gave him loonies and made sure to lock the door.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, you need to call the police and report that man, he may go to the neighbors, and lord knows what his intentions are.mdid he sow you any ID?

Victoria Harbour, ON

I didn't give him time to..our electrical company certainly don't go door to door. Just makes you uneasy..

About redy to call it a night..miss Sailors barking.

Baton Rouge, LA

Betty - how very creepy...good for you for thinking on your feet !

Thunder - book should be a quick read :)

Who will DS be rooting for ? I would have to go for Gators but guess I'm a Tiger now... had a lot of family at U of Fla.

Good for you Deb ! Maybe have a Dolphin shirt underneath LOL....

Hugs
Mary

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, no popcorn here. Kim has a temp filling waiting to get a new crown so it is a no no for now. Won't be watching game either...I only watch the FSU games and some times I don't even to that...just listen.

A bit on the chilly side here tonight. Our heat came on and it is set on 60 so guess it is time to add another quilt and snuggle down in "dream land:.

mulege, Mexico

Hi Everyone, I haven't posted for a couple of days. I've been sleeping a lot and not being very energetic when I'm awake so there's not much to report. Tony and I were both dragging today. He's sniffling, I've been lethargic with no "reason" except that I can't get moving. I offered to send him home today but he stayed and "worked slow." He'll be off tomorrow to take his daughter to Santa Rosalia to see a special dentist.

As of this morning I have TV!!! I watched CNN and Bill Mahar. I also got enough energy to paint seven tires which I can now set out in the new garden for paths and plant beds.

I'm doing clean up and organization in my sewing room while enjoying TV for the first times in ages.

hugs, katie

Baton Rouge, LA

Glad you posted Katie ! You know our Thea once recommended Magnesium "Mag ox" and I've tried it and do think it gives me energy... that being said I've not had the medical issues and I know you have plenty of reason to be lethargic.

Had a quick thought... I know you play Santa around the holidays... would your kids enjoy receiving Mardi Gras beads ? I can send a box over if so... box size would just depend on postage as I can afford right now...what do you think ?

Hugs
Mary

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - that's scary! Glad you had the foresight to tell him NO and shut/lock the door!!
((((((Hugs))))))) missing Sailor.......

Katie - what do you mean "as of this morning I have TV"? did you not have TV before?

oh, and re: results from Dr - I see him on the 19th, and should get the results then. Lots of tests, just going to have the mammo on the 28th (yuck!)

Just got back from Choir Practice tonight. Tomorrow at 11am I'm going to have some bannock with the people at our church - ordered a "bag lunch" with roast beef in bannock. Haven't had bannock in a long time, but I've got a recipe for it, and could make some at home....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Katie, your body is telling you to rest..work will be there when you heal, prop yourself up with some home grown fruit and enjoy t.v.

Opens at 7am so off I go!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Susan, what is bannock please?
Well, I will be gone for a few days, both of my boys are at a tattoo convention in San Antonio, so we will be going over there for the week end, and also finding a good restaurant for a dinner or two. See you all Sunday afternoon. I am taking my Ipad, so will try to keep up when I can.
Katie, you may be a bit on the anemic side too, maybe some iron pills will work? Take care and listen to your body, and get some rest.

mulege, Mexico

Hi everyone, I'm feeling much chipper today. Cured by Tv which I have missed. I've been restricted to what I can get on my puter for a few years. Now I have Shaw and a bunch of channels to occupy my ears while I try to get some work done.

Began the day with two hours of moving tires and logs in the western arroyo. Wore myself out physically and my shoulder hurts but I'm happy not to be so lethargic that I'm barely moving. Will take it easy the rest of the day. Tony will be here tomorrow to help with some of the heavier work.

Max the dog got accidently shut out in the back yard last night. He was very excited to be reunited with the rest of us this morning.

Thanks for all the good wishes and suggestions. I hesitate to post when I feel like I'm just wallowing in depression but I'm always glad when I do. And the depression always passes.

I am really glad to have had two hours of good energy to work outside. It helps me to realize that recovery is a process which includes both ups and downs. Neither lasts forever.

hugs, katie

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Mary my son is a NOLES fan.....go back up and look at photo...see what he is wearing??!!!

Betty , so very glad you closed the door and locked it...but maybe you should have also called police?? !!

I traced some of the pieces I will need for applique of santa piece, last night on my break at work. can't decide if I want to use two pieces of same fabric, or two different for santa beard??? got the second dresden ( for santa face) cut, stitched points, turned and pressed...making slow progress, 5 mins here, 10 mins there....

Katie, what will you sew first???

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm celtic, and no, bannock is not that.
It's a celtic word, but bannock is actually a First Nations Native American bread.
A Native neighbour of mine gave me the recipe, and historically it's a bread they would make and cook on rocks at the fire. Nowadays it can be baked or fried. I make mine with raisins. It's really good.
It sorta looks like a big soft biscuit, like naan bread.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Going to come back and gab in a bit, I'm on a mission, need a quilt binding hand sewn because I'm dropping it off to my God-daughter on my travels tomorrow..with leaving at 7:30 a.m. no can do in the morning.

Talk about an open house but nobody wanted donuts..Aunt Muriel brought church window cookies, talk about yummy, I've got the recipe now for her to drop in one day and we can bake..

Got the twins blankets embroidered (names/dates), same on ornaments.Melanie got 12 placemats done, she and I will be looking for fabric for binding tomorrow in our travels, another thing on the list, doubt we'll be home at midnight..did I say I was very tired??? lol off to sew the binding before I not off..

I cut backing and batting, Aunt Muriel ironed, Melanie was sewing and Missy supervised

to heck with supper, even too lazy to get something at the restaurant..did I say I have a box of donuts left??

Bread sounds different, likely very tasty.

Judy, glad the kids are doing ok..Jacob's leg all better? drats on it getting to visit with your friend..could have sent you a few friends today lol. Ohhh not so good that the Huber Street property hasn't sold, Steve must be beside himself..tell him Betty thinks he should go back to what he was dong before, a lot less risky!

thunder is the project with the Santa face the one in the Dresden plate that was in the magazine, if so anxious to see what it looks like, if not, would love to see your creation.

Katie, glad you got Shaw, you will surely have fun with the remote now that you have options of what to watch.

Ooops, someone at the door

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello to All !

Ah yes Thunder... Should have realized what color he had on... didn't recognize the logo. My highschool in Ft Walton Bch emulated FSU... we had an "Indian" that rode onto the field and threw a spear before every game.... and my dance team did an "indian" dance, a tradition passed on through the years. Most of my classmates went to FSU...begs a question... my oldest DSD will only say "Native American"... so is it wrong to say Indian? Don't mean it to be. But we were the Choctawhatchee Indians.

Oh JOY! Got my Swap Gift Mailed today ! Had feelings as I boxed it up that it wasn't "enough".... but things are about to get real busy around here so was now or never.... so Tried to pack up extra Hugs in the box to make up for it... BUT YOU will get it around Friday or so My Dear Swap Buddy ! ....And we're off !......

DSD in Lafayette got a ride to BR tonight with a friend-boy (maybe interested in him?) He sells Cutco knives and gave the presentation to us. He is from New Zealand! He was very professional and if we'd had the money I'd now own $$$$ of knives... Hubs bought one... They are driving back now. A friends daughter will give her a ride back Wed For Thanksgiving....

Tomorrow back to deep cleaning, and cooking for Thanksgiving. Thinking of our Dianne as (if I get time & energy) I may try to make another apple pie.

That's so cool Betty that you had so many visitors today.... they all feel so comfortable with you to just drop on in....

Hugs
Mary

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaaay - I finally got around to finishing all my ProveIt tests.......(exams, rather). I'd gotten them a week ago, but was a little loath to do them.......they're HARD!
But, all 11 are now done, so we'll see what the tester says.
I did Word 2010 and got 87% (global average is 70%), and also Excel 2010, and got 71% (global average is 60%).
siiiiiiiiigh DONE

oh, and spoke to a Job Match counsellor, and she says in order to get matched with an employer we must first come do some work for them - painting and carpentry work!! And she also wanted our resumes. I sent them, so now have to wait for her to give us an app't time........ and then we'll get work with them.
I signed Bob up for it too, cuz they'll pay us to work ($9.75/hr - when we're used to getting $10 to $15/hr MORE than that, but IT'S WORK and we get PAID). At least it's pay, which is more than we're getting now.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

So dark out there, must say I'm sleeping better since I got the memory foam top, hurrah hurrah!

Mary, now that DSD is getting rides home for the weekend you will wish she hadn't developed friendships with boys/girls..lol. You were having a nice break..on the brighter side, you don't have to go to pick her up and drive her back..sure hooe they are treating you better..was nice to hear the joy in your posts when they were.

Ohhh I'm sure your chrismas pal will love what is in the box.. Am hoping to get something special while at the Markham and International Craft Show today, add in Ganz and I'm sure there will be something...here's hoping

Wish I could add to your football stories but never been around anyone who watches the game

Had a Cutco paring knife, sad to say I pealed potatoes must have set it in the bag with pealings and threw it out!

Well, time to get a move on, got to clean my trunk to make sure I've room for all the goodies everyone will but and thought seeing as the girls won't get her till 7:20 or so I could go to car wash and vacuum and spray wash.

Have yourselves w fun day, don't work to hard

Susan, that is a great average..don't know if we have a job match here, likely do but called something different..yep few hours here and there is better than no income

Wish I cou

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Mary, it does offend some, when people say Indian....they will tell you Indians are from India ............. Native Americans are from America. One of my sons is one of them !! to me it is just a word... I don't take offense...

Betty I am doing the face from the magazine, but I am doing points on the plate, instead of the rounded ends, wanted it to be more of a match to the large one for her table.. I am guessing she will hang it on inside of her door, which is very close to dining room area. her floor plan is all open, walk in front door kitchen area to left, dining to your right, and living room beyond that. salt box house, bedrooms upstairs.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

We are having a windy very chilly day today. I can tolerate the cold but with this wind...not!

Getting a little worried as to whether or not we will be going to see mom for Thanksgiving. Kim is sick and no way will we take her "germ" down there or will I leave her home by herself. Won't complain as it is the first cold she has brought home so far this year. I am so proud of her, as of Monday not only will she be celebrating a birthday but finishes her Specialist degree. Is it alright to "gloat" a little? :-)

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I was talking to DH this morning and told him I was upset I couldn't meet up with you when you come over weekend of Dec. 1st. Told him he needed to take me to Canada before Christmas so we could visit. He said "WELL, maybe I will just go meet Betty for coffee in NF while you are gone!" ROFL

You have been warned! lol

Debbie (who is off and running for 3rd day).

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

re: Indians......
When we lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba, a neighbour of mine said she was Native, and that the "indians" were the ones who drank out of a paper bag in the rough side of town. She was very discriminating against "Indians".
When I moved to Calgary, the Indians were those from India (and don't you DARE call them East Indians - they're quite offended), and the ones who are Native were to be called Natives. btw - the Natives are treated better here than in Manitoba, and there are fewer of them. They're on Reservations (which are much, much better housed and close to cities).
In Manitoba, if you want to be near a city, you are IN the city. Reservations are in the far north part of the province and are very poor.
It's all relative, right?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, just got in, bath running and to bed I go..even left my goodies in the car..disappointed with Markham Craft show, the one about 60 miles from that one was even more so a disappointment..when we read 'Christmas show' automatically thought craft show, not, was mostly imported and commercial advertising and $15 to get in. Bought a few things thought..

At Ganz bought stocking stuffers..at Markham craft show did end up buying something for my buds Xmas box.

Want to gab but just soooo tired, gab in am
