LK - I had about 4 cups of liquid in the slow cooker. I did lift the lid now and then..... but also left it closed for hours at a time.

~~~~~ Waving~~~~ I'm here! did you miss me???? I've been so busy. Running with girlfriends, plasma donation, dinner with friends, but I've missed you all!
Welcome, Carolyn. I'm Joyce aka Cookie from Ohio between Dayton and Cincinnati. I do shade, sun and water gardening. I also make hypertufa pots and mushrooms. Sounds like you and your hubby are having a ball...good for you!
Marion, didn't know you were having knee problems. I think I might have skipped a thread...hope you're doing okay now and glad to hear that Mom got out for a little bit.
I made a batch of mushrooms yesterday so I have to distress them today and now it's pouring! It was so nice yesterday in the 60's and sunny. This morning when I left to go clean house it was mid 50's then on my way home from cleaning, it was already mid 40's.... :o( I no likey....
Betty, sounds like you had a great time. It so reminded me of our Michigan trip. Bertie got me a bottle of chocolate raspberry wine yesterday. We had a taste test to see which one we liked better, the one from MI, or the one she got me at Kroger's. They were definitely different, but both equally good! Glad to know there's someplace to get it besides Frankenmuth!
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
WB Joyce!!
yumm chocolate raspberry wine!! Be over shortly, Joyce!!!!!!!!!!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Awwww, look at those sweeties, yes 1st photo and the last..thought of you and your boys last night as I watched Remembrance Day shows..
Just got back from lunch, omg, need a kayak for sure, I'm soaking wet, got to put the micro furnace on to try and dry up otherwise I'll be catching a cold.
Mary, multi tasking, did I see that you typed you were 'quilting'??? omg did we wear you down and you've started to pick up our hobbies? just knew we'd convert you..
Waving Joyce, wondered where you got off to..do you know my mushrooms are still in the trunk of my car..trying to find the gravy mix we bought in Frankenmuth, not sure where it went, perhaps under the mushrooms lol
One good thing Susan, this testing will show you your weakness and you can focus on upgrading them..
brrr, I'm wet..
Baton Rouge, LA
LOL.... no not yet Betty... I meant you couldn't tsk tsk me for working on a "Mental Health" day because you were multi tasking yourself... you were quilting, working and watching TV...
Go get dry & warm ! No need for a winter cold :)
Good luck Susan on the tests !
Victoria Harbour, ON
There you go, you had me all excited Mary, thought wow weeee look at her, taking up crafts..yes, you know me, been sewing all morning, making headway with the 2nd dresden plate table cloth..trying to figure out which girl will get which one..making it easy, will wrap them, flip a coin and whoever wins get to pick a bag and gets what is inside..can't get more fair now can you?
Do you have one of those teflon liners for the oven Mary?? bought a few in the Christmas Tree Store, lordy, overspill just falls off..when I think I'll be a bad girl and not look after the pots on the stove I wrap the rings with foil then afterwards just pull it off..what a lazy gal I am..haven't cooked at home in so long don't remember how to.
Wonder how Judy is doing?? Anybody hear from her?
(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)
Send me some of the rain Betty. Itt is starting to get dry.
Joyce, I have had a "bum" knee for a very long time and most times it is under control. I took a tumble down the stairs a couple of months back and it just kept getting worse. Finally the doctor gave me an injection and inflammation meds but it kept me from traveling south to help bring home home for a few hours. Do really great now but still not letting me bend as much as I want to.......wait, could that be my age: :-)
Couldn't resist attaching this picture......2 of my favorite people. My daughter, Kim, and youngest granddaughter, Catie-Beth. Talk about a bonded pair!!!
Thumbnail by abbisgranma
Victoria Harbour, ON
doesn't it give you a warm and fuzzy feeling seeing such love between mom and daughter!!!
Are you gaining ground Marion, behaving and seeing improvement..
Wish I could send you the rain, heavy winds along with it..can actually feel temps dropping
(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)
Oops,attached wrong picture. Betty, that is Kim's niece. Kim isn't married nor has any children without 4 legs. LOL
Catie-Beth is my son's youngest child. We learned she was on the way 5 days before Ross passed. Our "window" so to speak.
Thumbnail by abbisgranma
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
and what a sweet "window" she is, Marion
Given that thought, I can see "why" Kim's bonded with her - a window to her Dad, for sure.......
Victoria Harbour, ON
Now why did I think Kim had children???
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Hey Cookie, how are you doing?
Marion, that picture is so precious, and look how big she is getting! They grow too fast!
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
I learned - how to use the Health Walker I got (the timer connection is broken, but I can still Walk!). Boy, am I out of shape........
Betty - Kim has the school kids - kinda her "children" doncha think?
Victoria Harbour, ON
Yes, knew she taught but was so sure she had children..for sure the young ones are just like hers..
Could barely see the road, between heavy rains and nightfall..glad I'm home
Bath running..want to be energetic, finish part of a project or just relax
We'll see
mulege, Mexico
It's cooling off here which means I put on slacks instead of shorts and wore a jeans jacket over my t-shirt when I went to town.
I know I have a glue gun someplace but I've no idea where. I was happily surprised to find our little general store had some. They also have all their Christmas stuff out already.
I went to the hardware store and got more paint for the stack of tires which I've scrubbed over the last week or so. When painted they will go in the new garden.
Also got fresh orange juice for Tony and me and chicken legs for the fur babies.
Found a seller on eBay who has dwarf papaya plants that I want. And a couple others. He is in San Diego.
Still don't think I'll be going up to see Amma but I may go to San Diego to see the doctors and pick up packages. My energy level is still low.
Glad to have lots of mulch and soon I'll have more tires to fill. And little plants to fill them with. I put some agaves from Dana around the outside of the fence to discourage theives. Agaves and bouganvilla are good deterrents.
hugs, katie
Victoria Harbour, ON
Katie, glad to hear you are venturing out..trip to town sounds like fun..is it near water? you work so hard in your gardens..am sure seeing growth just thrills you and Tony to no end!!!
Talked to Darlene for over 1/2 hr. and woke myself up
Managed to get background done so I could set the dresden plates on it..not sure I like it as much as the white background on the other table cloth but am sure when done I'll be thrilled.
Goal tonight was actually to adhere the plates to the background but pleased of what I accomplished tonight so will call it a night..who knows, might just get up early tomorrow morning and do that.
Hope you all enjoyed your day today...
Betty that is just so so Pretty !
Katie... wondering how agaves and bougainvilla deter thieves! I learn so much on here...
Where is Moonie ?
Hugs
Mary
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Mary - wonder if Katie meant plant thieves of the animal variety?
Katie - you work so hard, and you've just recently had surgery! Please take it easy on yourself. I know you want to get your energy back, so you're exercising....
Betty - you do such gorgeous work - and so quickly too!! Wish I had your energy!
Well, only have 3 more tests to do - Word & Excel 2010, and a 5-min typing test.
Not doing as well as I hoped on the tests..... I'm doing better than the "global" but not by much...... I'm used to having 90% or higher, and barely getting mid-70%.... siiiiiigh
Ah well, I did very well on Office Management, and Basic Office, and not bad on Outlook 2010 (never used it! but got 90%)
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Keep trying Susan, you will get it! I would hate to see the scores if I took that test.
Love the quilt Betty, those Dresden plates are beautiful!
Bougainvillea are sharp, and century plants are very thorny, thieves know that, so they stay away from them.
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Thanks, LK - I'm taking a break tonight, and will do the remaining 3 tests tomorrow.....
(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)
Bougainvillea....red neck security system !!! plant them under windows..no way a thief will try to get in !!! LOL prickly pear too :)
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning all,
Now which of you lovelies sent the blanket of white my way??
Didn't have electric start on my vehicle last year, think I'm going to enjoy it.
Planning my week, bingo night tonight, I'm thinking of maybe stopping in at the wood shop and pick up what I need for the skates..have another project to include, need to stop for rough cut,mcant make it this week so I think I will ask Ann or Darlene to pick 10' or so for me..
Time to get busy..
This Saturday I'm gone from morning till night, weekend after have my annual family and friend workshop,next Saturday after that Buffalo to mail out pkgs..too bad post office is closed on a Sunday, could have done it one of the next 2 Sundays..drats
In between must get projects finished and prepare for early Christmas..thought I was so ahead of the game but looks like I'm not..
No sense fretting, a plan always comes together
So what are you up to??
I'm thinking of Christmas and you all have Thanksgiving to prepare for..will you be having family?
Look at the time, must run
mulege, Mexico
I went to sleep at about 7pm and slept until 5am. A good sleep helps.
My right arm is still not all recovered from being frozen for months. I wrote my doctor a thank you note because he told me how fast the muscles will atroophy if they aren't used. So it's bothersome to still have pain but I'm not freaked about it. It's much better than when it first unfroze but still gets strained easily and I forget to notice I'm in pain and just get depressed.
My knee is much better. Rarely even a tweek. I do think the surgery - anesthetic, etc - is a lot of trauma and my body is still going "what did you do to me!!".
Susan, I think you will do well on the tests today. You are so commited to wokring. It's impressive. I always found job hunting harder than working. You are amazingly persistent. Wish you lived closer. I'd happily hire you to help me put my house together now that most of the walls are finished.
Time to do a little work. very little.
hugs, katie
Putting an envelope in the mail to you today.....I think skates are a great idea.....
Victoria Harbour, ON
snowing and blowing until I hit the 1/2 way mark then it cleared..cold though!!! Was it only Sunday that I was shopping without a jacket. Was just entering Barrie and saw a light come on, looked at the manual, icon looked as though there was break problems, stopped at dealership, said with the cold temps changes in air pressure in tires, topped it up and out went the light..cheap fix.
Katie, here is hoping you rest a bit so that the healing continues.
Susan, good luck with the tests...
Thunder, wonder if they grow in my neck of the woods
went out to the small pond this morning, yikes had forgotten to take out the water pumps, could not believe my eyes, the carpet rose bushes I planted were in full bloom, almost thought maybe I had stuck plastic roses there. Amazing that these delicate flowers would still be in bloom
Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)
Hi Mary...I am around, just been busy. I found these "home security" links. A really popular plant for security hedges down here is the Eleagnus. A neighbor a couple streets over has a beautiful hedge of them. When they bloom you can smell them across the neighborhood....lovely sweet fragrance. They are used by some highway departments to keep cars from running through the medians.. Pyracantha and Bougainvillea are also popular choices (thorns can get over an inch long)
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Betty, did you get my payment yet?
Victoria Harbour, ON
Now who would have thought of using plants for security??? not me!!!
Things that come up here which are different than my neck of the woods are so very interesting
(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)
Thanks for posting those links Jean. I only have one area that has low windows and I certainly learned alots by reading.
Glenview, IL
HI,
I'm here Betty!! sending you some cozy, warm Armwraps.
Oh my goodness, sure hope you've warmed up. We had the rains over the weekend.
holy smackers it's cold out, we too went from 60is to 23! This morning, had a dusting covering the ground.
I've been concentrating on those sweet letters done in wood!! I'm trying to re create a Christmas card, if it comes out, well then just may make some more. Hardest part was finding the right size wood pieces...This second piece I will be presenting to Julia for her birthday. She liked the idea when she saw it laid out...One nice thing is my kids never know if I am making them something, lolol thanks to all the different swaps and such...Haha, they've long ago stopped asking who what is for!!
Oh Betty that Dresdon plate is so Beautiful!! love all the different materials!
Speaking of which, did anyone take a photo of the Christmas tree made of circles at the quilting place in Frankenmuth? I could try one from memory...
So sorry you experienced a panic attack Betty, they are pretty wicked and i am really glad Suzanne came out to be with you!!
Well, here's the scoop on Joyce...She does not have whiplash, it's worse...a fracture in her neck!! They are trying to do an MRI, but she flat out refused the kind in the tube, so today they are doing the other type...She has another fracture in her lower back, and they want to make sure it did not hit the tailbone area. They did have her up and about yesterday, so that is good. Her daughter has been going to the hospital, an hour and half travel...
Steve was literally freaked out by the whole ordeal, He was never so scared, when happened he thought she had died, until she started moving around...So I am trying to get the office/spare room in at least good enough shape for her, if she is coming here for a time....i will be trying my best to talk her into it. Our home is mostly flat, her house she goes up and down stairs all the time, not to mention a couple of cats she can fall over...it just makes me so nervous about that while she is on pretty potent pain killers. Heather, her daughter can take care of the furries while she is with us...But until she is released it's still undecided.
Well then I also talked to my good friend Diane, Very saddened to hear, her breast cancer has returned, this time on the other...she was a 10 year survivor. She has already had the lumpectomoy and is undergoing Chemo. hopefully they have gotten it all. She seems to be in good Spirits, as it's a different time and new medicines ...Tomorrow I will go and just visit with her.
We went to Jakes football banquet last night, it was nice...
Debbie, I did make it a point to read Angels at the Table! So enjoyed it very much...LOL, Most likely will read all the stories again. Going to have to find last years, since I bought the wrong one!! I have a nice little collection of Christmas stories, that will make a pretty "library" decoration...Sending you loving Armwraps for thinking of me, ((((just so sweet))))).
Geesh already time to go get Jake..Be back after his lunch hour.
Oh Mary, sure hope you enjoyed your mental health day!! Whew we all need those.
Enjoy the Suns kiss today!
Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)
Betty, hope you find your gravy mix. I fixed chicken stroganoff last night and I sprinkled some of that in...oh gosh sure made the flavor rich! I can't find my tissue box cover. :o(
I have looked EVERYWHERE!!! Can't imagine where it took off to. Asked Bertie if she came up with two and she said no. I'll keep on looking, but I'm almost out of places to search!
Got my mushrooms distressed yesterday, but gee it was cold. Mid 30's. I had my hood up and a sweatshirt and jacket. The batch really turned out good. That will be the last one of the year. At least it had stopped raining. I don't know what I would have done if it hadn't. Distressing makes such a mess. I let them harden in the shed, but I can't distress there...so luckily I was able to do it in the driveway.
Today is one of my garden club meetings. We're going to be making Thanksgiving Centerpieces out of a 4 inch terracotta pot. Should be fun.
Victoria Harbour, ON
ok, how many of you heard the 'drats/drats/drats' edited with drats as not to be kicked off DG!!!
Don't want to purchase anymore Christmas Fabric, trying to use up odds/sods thinking they would look ok and now 2nd guessing myself because I don't have enough of each color..shaking my head..frustrating isn't it?
I do have a photo Judy, infact Ann went out and purchased the glue on diamonds and pearls, canvas etc. and I a circle cutter, was going to include the project into the Christmas Annual craft box..not sure if photo is here or on home computer..will go look..a sec please..lol Those of you in the craft day, you need to start picking up tree limbs/branches before the snow hits..see photo
Not on i-pad nor work computer Judy, will post tonight
Joyce you will have to share..you'll enjoy making the wreath..is it a live wreath that holds the pots?
Don't worry about gravy mix..am sure it's somewhere in the car, will have to fully unpack it..everytime I travel I keep adding things in the trunk, hiding in there somewhere I'm sure.
