central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Media silence here today.
I need a break from the over analysis and self congrat. krapp.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh ya, me too

South Hamilton, MA

The phone is blessedly quiet.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - BEST thing about the day after.

Thomaston, CT

Yes....and no more nasty ads....I was ready to scream!

Fredericton N B, Canada(Zone 4a)

I have to thank Sandy...because I had to rejoin Daves' Garden to find out about my friends Pirle and Jack. I didn't realize how much I missed everyone.Joy

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Bless your heart!!

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

The little bit of news about voting in NY NJ and Connecticut didn't say how long the lines were.

My DD in Ohio explained why that state has an early voting provision. She said she voted on sunday so it would only take two hours. She said voters who show up on election day have to plan on eight hours to vote. Here I almost take it for granted that I could vote within ten minutes of showing up at the polls, but I don't have to show an ID.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's ludicrous. It is, in effect, a poll tax. What working person can give up all that time?

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Had no idea it takes that long to vote in different places. I guess I take for granted that I can vote pretty easily once they find my name and I sign then they check the signature against my initial registration then I pick up my little card that I slide into a slot in the machine then touch the screen then register my vote then out pops the card and I take it back to the table and turn it in.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Just goes to show that's what they are talking about on the news when they talk about voting procedure reform. It's all very easy where I am too.

Thomaston, CT

Never wait more than 10 min. here to vote....if folks are waiting that long, they need to open more polling places.....Hartford was a mess because folks didn't register....they went to City Hall to just get a presidential ballot, but there were thousands who did that.....

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

in OH the id is either photo or utility bill. I didn't have to wait long to vote.

South Hamilton, MA

small town of 8,000. they know who we are. check in & check out. I had to wait for the first time in years as voting was quite heavy.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

only need to register here and then they just check your name and street address, it took me about 10 minutes as well - i've always thought you sholuld have to show some id to prove you are who you say you are, at least a photo id - easy to see how voter fraud could happen here with the way it is.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

We have to show ID in Bridgeport - but it takes a looooong time to vote because the registrar is not capable of doing the job.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Photo ID should be national law. Even the UN observers were shocked at that.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

well it allows whatever party the opportunity to compare voter lists to actual voters and send in the replacements.........................mostly in urban areas where the dem's are strong .............just saying

South Hamilton, MA

When we were first here 40 yrs ago I always had to reregister as an independant each time. Now we no longer have to do that. Name just checked before & after & we are free.

Thomaston, CT

I was told a credit card was OK for an ID, & that's what I showed...of course, I have known both checkers for a thousand years.....

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

here they just use id to check name and address. it goes very quickly.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

didn't need to show my id

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

LOTS of questions surrounding the CIA director's resignation. Hopefully we will find out what's behind it all and how it came to light, is related to other events, etc. But interesting that the biographer with whom he supposedly had the affair titled her book about him 'All In'. I guess so.

South Hamilton, MA

This sounds 'holyier than thou' but can't these guys control themselves? It may be modern, but they know it is wrong. If you are not interested at home, get a divorce. We lose good people for our country.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Really. But it does take two, though the power difference is enormous.

Read the second letter here.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/15/magazine/a-message-from-beyond.html

South Hamilton, MA

I guess that I don't understand 'affairs'. I see the point of the letter, but if a person knows that it would hurt his/her job, they should be more honorable. Not everyone is happily married, which is sad, but hurting country/project is sad as well.

Thomaston, CT

I'm glad he resigned...it was the honorable thing to do. However, a divorce would have been the moral thing to do....

South Hamilton, MA

& the country has lost a talented person.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Today Baby Adam's parents got married, can't tell you how happy this makes my family!!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

like victor says it does take two - i am surprised he resigned we had a pres who's likeable went up for much worse actions.

congrats celeste!!!

Thomaston, CT

Oh, best wishes for them, Pixie...they need to be together for Adam!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Great news! Celeste!!!!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

congrats to them Celeste!!!!

South Hamilton, MA
