Betty, Izzy is exhausted after her spa day!
She didn't get done til almost 6:00 (dropped off at 12:30). BUT she looks beautiful. Has been sleeping since she got home.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends
Awe Izzy looks so beautiful ! Love her pink bow and you can just SEE how soft she is!
Mary, she is still sleeping...belly up and sprawled on the couch. It is so tiring on her to get groomed. Haircut, bath, blowdry, more haircut and brushing out of old coat. They took her right in at 12:30...and were still working on her when I got there. Sadly, she was in bad shape...I haven't been able to care for her thick
coat like I used too.
BUT, Debbie, you cared for her and took her to her Spa Day. Whether you're able to do it yourself, or have someone else do it, she's been loved by you.
She does look very soft, and beautiful!!
Morning all..
Ahhh Izzy is adorable, you can see her pose for the camera, she knows she's looking her best. How old is she again Debbie?
Mary, fun day for you for sure, just think perhaps next year you will be driving your own Model A..is Lance still as gung ho with the project?
Bought crosses for the grandsons Susan, yikes almost as much to have engraved as the purchase..saw that Braedon and Caleb wear them, not sure if Kyle and Noah will but it's a gift under the tree that isn't paper.
Lucky that Bob's company will look after repairs..toting tools and supplies is hard on a truck..I had thought he used his vehicle to get to work then use company touch..hope he gets mileage.
Last night I opened pandora's box and went down memorupy lane..was seeking photo's for the albums need at the funeral home, of course a lot of photo's brought back memories, times gone by..decided to do it as well as Darlene had asked if I had photo's of her parents as we spent winters in Bonita Springs Florida and for years did snowmobiling together..found quite a few so set them aside..
Had given my boys and then their boys all my photo's of Terry Fox when he was here, someone stole the album when Noah brought it to school, didn't I find a photo of him sitting on the back of the van lift..hmm maybe USA friends don't know who Terry Fox is??
As well a Christmas card that Jimmy (James Wilkie) had send me with his photo on it, looking so elegant, a close match to Liberaci. (???). he wrote into the cards his thoughts, seeing what Christmas has become, remembering his times working with Mother Teresa and such poverty..had other cards that I had posted once and cannot for the life of me remember where I put them so am pleased I found this one..was feeling down and his kind words of his affection for me "me being a bright light in his life" made me smile..at that point I closed the picture tote.
Will be a long day today..so that I have no time for thoughts I'll likely machine quilt one of the tops..not necessary to be at funeral home till 2:00' will go a little later giving them time with their mom before the masses arrive.
What exciting or non exciting thing will you do today?
non exciting for me....got to go to work :( buttttttt then I get out early, sooooo will be able to do some kind of stitchin' this evening !! that makes it a plus..
trying not to complain, very happy to have a job to go to, also very happy to have all my great buddies living right here with me via this computer !!
Many big gentle hugs to you today Betty...
Betty - how nice that you've gotten crosses for the "boys"
No, the company Isn't paying for the truck repairs. When I said company, I meant the service repair company. Bob doesn't work for a company. He works for a contractor, and he's a sub-contractor.
He doesn't get mileage, but he does get "time", so if he picks up a fellow worker he gets paid from the time he leaves home.
Betty - how nice that you did find that picture with the comforting words!
I think everyone in North America knows Terry Fox?!?!
Sorry, I don't know who Terry Fox is, will have to Google him.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Fox
Wow, he has done, and still is doing a great thing!
Amazing!!! Thank you for the link Linda....
Terry was so young when he died, only 23! Did so much in his short time. And, although gone...his work still helps many. His story helps many kids up at Golisano, (and throughout the country I am sure) who face amputation and the power to not give up.
Yes, he was a courageous man, and to die so young from cancer... I remember going to a Terry Fox run in his honour, shortly after he passed away. He managed to go all across the country, and his mother was in the accompanying van. He gathered a lot of fans who got to meet him personally along the Trans-Canada highway (now called the Trans-Canada Trail.........).
I wish I'd met him - many people realized how heroic he was and stood out to see him pass by.... He made it as far as Thunder Bay, Ontario, from St. John's, Nfld.

Hello To All !
Debbie - Izzy knows you took extra special care of him today... reminds me of Mom's Camper... had that undercoat that was so difficult to keep from matting up... Bet he is still exhausted...
Yes Betty - Hubs has the "Model A Bug"... see he is on a Model A Blog much like my Disney Blog site... When I woke up he was posting pics from yesterday on a site and later he went to visit one of the guys in the club...So think he does qualify for "Gung Ho" sure hope this time next year we'll be driving ours !
Oh Betty touched my heart you going through photos... went through that a few weeks ago albeit different circumstances... sure you are on an emotional roller coaster.
I had not heard of Terry Fox so Thank you LK for posting the link. Scanning through got a lump in my throat would have been crying for sure if I stopped to read every word....
Wow so young 23 Deb? Thanks for pointing that out and it occurs to me that perhaps He made an impression on young Kyle and that might be why he has devoted so much energy to the fund raising for cancer research.....
We all touch lives in ways we don't know, huh .....
(HUGS) all... much love
Mary
Don't know if Katie enjoyed the Oprah interview with Steven Tyler but I sure did. I live about 30 minutes from Lake Sunapee and it is as beautiful as what was shown on the interview.
I enjoyed the interview but Lake Sunapee would be too cold for me. I was raised in uppper Michigan and I don't do cold any more. kb
Katie, I was born and raised in Grand Haven, Michigan. I agree, I don't like the cold any more either!
That's the banana belt. I'm from Sault Ste. Marie!! kb
A Canadian, Katie? I didn't realize. Do you have dual citizenship then?
Morning all, long day yesterday, much to do this morning seeing my friends are setting out and looking after the luncheon..thank goodness for good friends
There are two Saults. One in Michigan, one in Canada. I was in Michigan. Both are cold. kb
We shredded several large bags full of our palm and seaweed mix. Great feeling of accomplishment as containers get filled and plants get mulched and compost bins get fillled.
I need a bath. Besides being really dusty I got stung on my left index finger by a scorpion. I didn't see or feel it at the time but it's burning now. Not bad - I was wearing work gloves.
I am so glad to be feeling better. I was able to work with Tony the whole time he was here (four hours). Amma will probably be in San Ramon around Nov. 26. I am just starting to feel better and the trip is tiring so I'm inclined not to go.
We have the seed starting shelves set up. They are three shelves high and about ten feet long so theer's room for lots of seed starters.
Got another small injusry while gathering some small agave plants to discourage tresspassers from messing with our fence. I got poked on the top of my head and dripped some blood around the mother plant.
Think I need to take it easy for awhile. Maybe clean up a little in the sewing room. I need to set up some mouse traps there. When the dogs smell a mouse they tear the shelves apart hunting for it. This is our best weather so we're mostly working outside. What are all of you doing?
hugs, katie
Both "Saults" are pronounced "Sue" right?
Sorry to hear about your "owies", Katie. Do you have any aloe vera on your scorpion sting?
Dropping blood on the mother plant - will this make it a cannibal? lol
Nice to be feeling better and work for the whole 4 hours - just don't overdo.
I'm working on Bob's "new to him" laptop - I'm "stealing" his NEW laptop cuz mine didn't work with WiFi further than the room the modem is in, and that makes it useless to me. After all, I can use the desktop system in the same room The point of having a laptop is to be able to take it away from connections. Guess the Dell is just old, and his HP is the weeks-old one.
I'm setting the Dell up for him to use so he won't have to do anything, just use it. (VBGrin)
I Get A New Laptop out of it!!! lol
Just got in, been a long 2 days..thank goodness for Darkene/Anne/June and Pat"
A lot to feed 200 people..so much food left over..
Before we went our ways Jeff/Greg and family and myself went to the grave sight and put flowers on Rogers grave.
Glad it's over, no tension but the one brother (who ran off and married my brother's wife) was in the line up, I went to put a tray down, and he said loud enough so I could hear him "can you smell the "sh*t smell all do a sudden". No class..at least the other SIL just made sure I couldn't offer her condolences..
Last of commitments to that family other than the few eldest..
Katie, you got much accomplished, off to put your feet up and pamper yourself!
Susan, congrats on the new laptop..
Betty, those comments were not called for at the funeral, does he have no class at all?
Actually he has improved..at Roger's, even though we didn't speak asked him if there was anything of Roger's he might have wanted, I was standing in front of casket, was told to 'go (4 letter word) yourself'. He's highly educated, more money than brains and has no use for me.

he is an IDIOT Betty, forget about it!!!!! HUGS.....
Had a conversation relates to this at work about a week ago. Girl I work with, Mom passed. and she was speaking of a few incidents at the funeral. she stated she had actually expected worse, and it seems every family has an an idiot in there somewhere.... I agreed, yup...inlaws outlaws...whatever...we all have one some where along the line
Just have to ignore them and carry on with our own business...
There IS one in every family, Betty. This is truly one with no class....
I wonder if he would have organized this if you hadn't shown up?
It's like they say in the "bully" commercial (re: kids in school) - "if everyone ignored the bully, they'd really look stupid" (sic)
Well, maybe I overdid a bit. I can hardly move. But it's cause I'm tired, not so much cause I'm in pain. I think that's good. I should sleep well tonight.
Betty, I won't trade horrible family sstories with you. I always win. Be glad you are done with them. After both my parents were dead I asked Amma if I had to continue to have anything to do with my sisteres and other family members. Amma said that if I had done what aI could for my parents I did not need to try to help anyone else in the family. Within a few years my younger sister committed suicide. My oldest sister made several suicide attempts, finally died of "natural" causes. My surviving sister is drinking herself to death and is allied with the rest of the family, except for my niece who credits me with helping her to escape and have a good life.
There is nothing to be done for for these, well, I hesitate to call them people. I once read that nine out of ten "people" aren't real; they are just here for us to deal with. Tp survive and move on. A hard thought but there are times when I wonder. Even around Amma, who is a saint who says, "My religion is love" there have been a few people who have told me they hate me. Many more love and bless me, including Amma.
Did you all see the story of the football team that adopted a mentally challenged girl who was being bullied? I think it was on cnn.
Dang, I am tired. Cooking chicken for the dogs. They won't let me sleep until they are fed.
hugs, katie
p.s. Yes, they are both pronounced "sue."
What did I learn today? To bless my family, as dysfunctional as they may be, they all love each other (in spite of arguments......)
I also learned that Bob's truck would cost $3200 to fix and all we can afford is (pushing it) $300......
Morning all..cold but clear outside..little mix up here, some of the clocks have one reading and the other another..
Back to routine this morning, that's what I need, semblance of balance in my lied. Both Paul and Suzanne have appointments, they too must jump right back in although it's the furthest thing from what they would like to do I'm sure.
Susan, that is not good news, how will Bob continue to work if he doesn't have his truck..Lordy, can't believe all the mishaps you have to go through just to get through a day. You are a brave woman!
Yes Katie, there is almost one in each family, those who do not have them are blessed..thank goodness this one in not in mine but in Roger's! Worse thing in mine is a few demanding people but that is easy enough to live with.
Looking to get away this weekend for our annual girls Xmas shopping trip, hoping Suzanne will be up to to it..with her husband near ammonia and only made an appearance at the funeral it just may not be possible..not sure if the other girls would be able to chage plans..she could do with a get away.
Hope you have a sunshine day.
Morning everyone! Sorry to hear about Suzanne's hubby not feeling well!
She just came in, said he's running high fever, is determined to go to work (truck driver) but she has encouraged him to take another one or two days off.
Sipping coffee, looking at a new book from Nancy's Notions..gee, so many things I'd like to order, shipping prevents me from doing so though..anything in the magazine can be ordered through the little fabric shop in town.
Have you seen the new Keepsake Quilter ??? OHHH do I ever want to do that quilt!!! three little bears building a snow BEAR !!! kit to make 22 x 33'' $89.99 kinda steep....appliques all pre cut....
I am gonna sew another table runner today, and maybe cut some fabrics for some presents, yup I am caving in and doing one of those presents quilts ^_^
You are all just so amazing with your sewing skills. I would need hospitalization after attempting to thread a needle.....someone would get hurt!!!
I am envious!
Cold cold cold here...was in mid 20's last night. Saw a few snow flurries on my way to Walmart yesterday but thankfully nothing stuck.
Betty, sending hugs. It is a new day...time to look forward, not back....and create new and happy memories for tomorrow. I have had to
make myself do the same.
Waving to all....
Debbie
Thunder, show us a picture of that runner please? It sounds so cute!
Debbie, you sound like my sister. I would be a basket case if it weren't for my sewing/quilting.
Thunder, I am like LK, post a picture please.
Ohh sounds like a fun project..could you not FAKE it Thunder?? use up what you have..
Look forward to seeing a photo as well or do you have a link?
I had to run an errand for Paul and wouldn't you know it was right next to Fabricland..long line up so got a can of adhesive spray
