How about we visit and sit at LindaKay's this thread, seems she had the sunshine!

morning, will this region ever see sunshine..seems like forever that we've had rain, no different today.

Debbie, You must find it comforting being in a neighborhood where you know everyone and everyone looks out for each other..don't think it happens as much nowadays that neighbors see each others family grow up. How are the 3 of you making out, not still sick I hope. Will you be going to Hamburg Craft Show Saturday?

Just got a call from Suzanne, I was to have picked her up for work seeing as she and Lenny were going to Niagara Falls for the weekend..Lenny was to pick her up at the office at noon but she just got a call from Paul, the rushed my MIL into the hospital with what they think is a torn aorta (?). Calling in family..

Let's hope their prognosis is not what they think and just a touch of flu

Oh Betty, praying it is not a torn Aorta! Sending lots of prayers!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Praying for better news Betty.

No trick or treaters as there aren't any young kids in the neighborhood. We are a rather secluded area and unless parents drive there kids here, well you get the picture.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you, just waiting for a call..did call Greg/Jeff to let them know..seeing their dad has passed on felt they should know and have a choice wether or not they want to drive to the hospital..Jeff just called me back, waiting for news before making that choice. With a family of 10 kids left and a zillion grandchildren, not all can go to the hospital, they'd have to open cafeteria

Lyndonville, NY

Sending prayers Betty....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Checking in for updates.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Likely a long morning/day waiting for news..I'm to call Jeff/Greg is I hear something and they to call me if they hear something..

so sitting here at the office going back in time..finally got my bag of scrap charms and am sewing them into 4 block squares for something to do..later I'll try and figure out what to heck I'll make with them all..a zillion of them lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

There are some really neat patterns just doing Disppearing 4 patch and 9 patch blocks......and others. How about something using large hexagons?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - know that you're worried. Good that the family is all around, even though they obviously cannot all go. A torn aorta would be scary...... here's hoping it can be easier to work on. My prayers are with you and the family....... Bless you and yours.

I'm going to be at Bible Study this am, so won't hear any news early. I'll check when I get back.

I got an email yesterday about another job possibility - 1 year contract. Sent them my updated resume, and we'll see.......
I've been updating my profile on LinkedIn, and saw that the woman who took over my job in Calgary, then gave her notice and moved to Toronto, has viewed my LinkedIn profile. I don't suppose she knew that I would be able to see she "saw" my profile, but it's part of my settings that I know who and how many view it. Not sure what to think of this.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, here is a pattern to use square for a pretty block.

LK love that block. Where did you find it?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

On facebook, from Jacquie Campbell. Start with a pinwheel block, (the 3rd picture) then cut it, flip the center pieces and sew back together. She calls it a split pinwheel. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.4005633702643.2135463.1335164760&type=1

Gorgeous LindaKay, now you show me, now that's I've put about 30 blocks together of Christmas fabric..lol

they'll be something, NOT a treasure but for someone who doesn't sew I'm sure they will like it

Saved your link, wouldn't mind trying that pattern

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Link didn't work for me. Not a problem will find.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You may have to be a friend of hers on facebook for it to work?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Any word on your MIL Betty?

Victoria Harbour, ON

just this minute, Suzanne called to say that she's holding her own, they are still doing testing..specialist said they had never seen anybody with blood pressure so high. Tests continue, did say though if any kind of surgery is required they will NOT proceed..she like Marion's mom is a strong one so am sure she will make it through this..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

(((((((Betty)))))))) Thank goodness they found the BP in time to look after it and her.....
Hopefully it won't require surgery for your dear mom.
Prayers will continue for you and yours, regarding your mom and all things, Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Paul just called, doctor said it is her heart, that it is failing, most of the family are there now

As he said, one cannot tell, when the countdown is saying 'out' she just might say I'm 'in'..Marion would know about that..so leaving it up to all, waiting game for sure

Greg is up North and Jeff, not sure if he will attempt to come, as I said 10 kids + their spouses = 20 then add kids??? wow Hospital will not want that many..will call though and offer up accommodations

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - my thoughts and prayers are with you, your mom, and the extended family.
At least she & your aunt were able to join you for that weekend in (?) Frankenmuth. At least I think that's where you went?!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear that Betty, praying the Dr.'s can keep her comfortable! What caused the aorta tear? Or is her blood pressure that is causing it?
Prayers for the family are being sent along with ((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, it is Roger's mom..no she never went anywhere with me..years ago I used to take her and FIL to Bonita Springs Florida for part of winter but she and I don't have the greatest of relationships..when Roger asked that I not let her see him like he was and the doctors saying too many by his bedside I had to ask them for privacy..so, you can imagine what some of the family and she think of me..still brought her Mother's Day, birthday, Christmas gifts, attended all the functions but finally gave up.

Not sure LindaKay..I just called Suzanne's cel to tell her that I've plenty of room should anybody need accommodations, best I can do

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

sorry I didn't get the info right.
Prayers for your MIL to heal. I was not there when the family was upset re: privacy, but I sure can understand how it must have hurt when the family reacted that way. It was also Roger's wish, and you were doing the most loving thing you could, for the most important person in your life - Roger.
Bless you, Betty, for offering your help with accommodations.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Keeping your MIL in my prayers also Betty. I'm also praying that she feels no pain and if it is God's plan that she join Him now, I pray she does so with a few kind words.....

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, so understand the "strong" thing. I really don't know where some people pull it from but they do. Sending best wishes and prayers to all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Brrr, it's cold out there, drove through heavy rain and here and there ice pellets..saying tomorrow it will be a mix of rainy and snow..yuk

Got home later, figured if I was going to work from home tomorrow and it was going to rain all weekend I'd hit a fabric shop before coming home. Was looking for a specialty fabric that had designs I could cut 8" squares from..found the perfect thing.

Now it's not a hot bath, Jammie's, neo citron

Thanks for all the kind words, mean the world to me!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - you still have that nasty cough?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Splitting headache, sore shoulders and a bit of a chill..all snuggled in under a blanket

Too. Early to call it a night, hoping meds soon work then I'll be up and at it!

Baton Rouge, LA

Betty Hope you feel better soon! Prayers for your familiy and MIL...

Hey All.. Are we supposed to be mailing our DG Swap Pressie by November 10th? Just checking I don't know why I have that date in my head... did someone post that ?

Hugs
Mary

Lyndonville, NY

Its posted at the top of the page....yep, the 10th of November.

Baton Rouge, LA

Oh Thank you Debbie !

Any idea why it is that early ? I mean I think I'll be ready... just wondering... maybe it takes that long for some folks to get posts from CA to USA or vice versa....

Hugs
Mary

Lyndonville, NY

Betty is just trying to beat the holiday rush with the mail.....I think we should be OK to mail by Thanksgiving though.
I have mailed to California last year....and it took 3 days for Liz to get it. Canada is another story all together!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

From CA to US, it usually is 1 week. It could take a few days more, but that should be all.
Of course ALL mail will be slow as Christmas rush hits.........
So, to be mailed by next weekend? Yikes.......!!!!
I only have one piece of the mailout.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

US to Canada is 2 weeks, don't know why they can ship things here and have it arrive in a week!

mulege, Mexico

The hurricane may cause additional mail problems.

Dana brought me a set of scales and I've lost another five pounds.

On the plant front, one carob tree seed that I planted a few days ago has germinated. Success, especially with a new-to-me seed is always exciting.

Think I'm feeling better. Less trouble with my right shoulder. Still some pain which I have to remember to notice when I get depressed and can't figure out why.

My knee is doing very well and I ride my exercise bike every day.

We are going to buy the grocery store shelves that I mentioned. Paying more than I'd like but less than it would cost to build them. I have a huge collection of seeds and now will be able to start them where the dogs and cats can't get at them. Wish I had more energy but it's coming back.

Sure glad I don't havve to deal with family crises. I have no capacity for them any more. Tony was home yesterday with gall bladder problems. He went to the clinic with some other people and got a new pill which is helping with the pain. I'd be lost without him so I do worry about him but he's very self-sufficient. Patted my shoulder today when I worried about his getting home with a flat tire. (A neighbor borrowed his air pump without telling him and didn't return it.)

I think Steve Tyler of Aerowsmith is the new love of my life. At least the song "Walk this Way" is the best cure for depression at this time.

hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

(((((((Katie))))))))
I understand what you mean by handling family crises..... I couldn't handle them either.
Tony sounds like a very sweet friend - he truly likes looking after you, and I for one appreciate it!
I hope you get through this depressing time - having the recent surgery, and dealing with the residual pain, would be depressing for anyone. You're a real trooper, and now that you've "found" the love of your life....... Steve Tyler, you're going to be juuuuuuuu-ust fine!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dropping in for a quick hi

No problem putting deadline to end of month, I'm sure it would be ok with Dianne, maybe those whose buddy is Canadian, they might mail out sooner..I'll change date above.

Nora (MIL) passed on to the Lord about 1/2 hour ago.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone! Katie, glad to hear you're still losing weight, and feeling better.
Betty, sorry to hear about Nora passing! Please send condolences to the family!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending my deepest condolences Betty. Even though the circumstances are what they are, I know you are sorry she has gone on. The Lord was good and she did not linger. Maybe when she meets up with Roger, the anger in her heart will finally dissolve. I'm keeping you and all your family in my prayers and sending special hugs to you.......
