6thAnnual DG Christmas Craft/creating treasures with friends

Norm just cleaned the meat off the turkey bones but left enough for soup on Sunday. We are supposed to get the nasty weather then and turkey soup always tastes good on a nasty day.
Wish I could send some to you!!!

Think I'll add that to my list and make some..always buy the packages at the Christmas Store, just like home cooked,not sure but might have chicken noodle or potato soup..

did cook up cream of potato soup, yummy..problem is I've had it for lunch and supper and still more..who knows maybe a midnight snack.

Snowmen are all in a row drying

Well girls, took one step forward and two back..

Had visitors on Saturday and they ended up doing snowmen..sooo was 4 snowmen short..lol The good thing about it is we've gone through the process so I know what I need to add to the boxes..problem might be bottles of paint..anyone have $$$ store nearby to pick up a few??

Not to fret, went into town last night, Kyle came with me and lugged materials and between wrapping christmas gifts I cut 5 sets and skates..still need to cut the blades but having the wood playned to be slightly thinner, couldn't find the wood I needed..

Girls yesterday did enjoy their day and went home all having given their snowmen names..lol

Know I should stain the wood tonight but I do far better early mornings so think I'm putting up a sign saying 'Santa's Workshop' Closed for the night!!!

Tomorrow is another day.

Snowing and blowing, sure hope weather improves so I can get to Buffalo Friday and send off the packages if not, think I'll be taking a sick day first sunny day..shhh don't tell

If you look at the last photo Barb you will see upper skates all cut and ready for sanding..lots of wood in the snowmen so sending you and Liz 2 pairs of skates and Santa snowmen heads

Picked up scarf fabric on my way home, just cut it into strips, will bring wire to work tomorrow and will cut it then it's just a matter of packaging it up..one of the times I went to post office I picked up medium flat rate boxes, have enough for shipping.

Just put snow and sparkles in mini baggies and the kits are all but sent

No storm called for the weekend so will leave at 3:00 for Buffalo and not sure what time the main post office closes, doubt I will make it Friday but come 8am Saturday they will be enroute..

Those are going to be heavy packages, glad they have flat rate postage!

Skates being put into boxes to ship to Liz and Barb..believe that is all who asked that theirs be the original skates..at work I'll go through our chat and see that I don't make an error and that someone else also wanted skates.

Reason I picked snowman after I said skates it that they didn't look like much compared to our other projects..now that I have them sitting there and sending (2) it would have been easier and lighter...ahhhh me and my second guessing but am sure all will enjoy.

NOTE OF CAUTION girls...did not glue skate blade to skate, adding screws for you to do so after you've painted..when you see the blades you will see I had wood playned to be thinner, after all blade are thinner which means when attaching blade to skate please do not put a lot of pressure, turn screw gently..

I could not find painted christmas decals anywhere in my travels..found these pretty snowflakes, will add some flat beads to go with them and you can have fun designing or painting to suit your creativity..

Those look wonderful Betty and I'm looking forward to a day of relaxing when they arrive. Once again, I salute your creative mind!!!!

I am in Lansing for two weeks for parties and visits with friends here. Then home and I have a rag a
rag quilt and purse to finish as well as two pot lucks and gifts for sewing friends. Luckily I am not having Christmas at my house but going to Toledo with family.

Betty...iffffffffff you are ever bored and iffffffffff it would not be too much to ask of you...could you make me a snowman and a set of skates as well?? There is NO rush, since I only start decorating in snowmen and winter in january. Orrrrrr you could come and visit us next year and bring it along...lol

Betty - my package arrived today and I'm a bit confused. I'm doing the skates and you did send me two sets. Thank you so very much!!! BUT - you also sent me five snowmen pieces, five scarfs and five noses!!!! I'm a bit confused and to whom do I send a head and a nose???? I'll be happy to do so.

hi Barb, heads and noses are for "extra" little snowman...Ya know Betty....she always throws something in.... she mentioned awhile back that we were to gather some sticks/branches :)

Yes Barb, sent you 2 pairs of skates..need sanding as you can see

upper part of the skate to be painted..I did mine in black but you can paint them color of choice..blades I base coated with grey, mix white with touch of black..doing them in grey first gives you less hassles and better coverage when you paint them with silver..

And yes, the heads were for you as extra's, top of faces to be painted off white (light beige). I tried to be careful and ONLY painted the very top but if you end up with paint on the side then go for it..when dry they need sanding anyway..yes to the vptree branches. 1 to 1 1/2" branch width..length, depends on what you will put them in

Will start painting my pieces, take photo and post step by step for you all

If you get your kit, perhaps you can start on snowmen faces (see above) booys are black
