I am OK Betty. Glad you got the gazebo down. They posted picture of a trampoline hanging from electric wires somewhere to the East (Jersey?) and things are flying! Get wrapped up in a quilt and just rest!!!!
Wind has doubled from 5:00, evacuation warnings to those along Lake Ontario as waves are larger and moving close.
Stay warm and safe everyone....
Debbie
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends
We must have watched same updates..saw at bottom of screen that your areas have been asked to evacuate..boy they weren't wrong about this being the worse torn yet..let's hope loss of life is minimal..see where the were able to rescue crew of the Bounty
Hello All...
So worried about you friends up north... I'm so glad you are keeping up with us.... Betty you'll get the What for from Greg for pulling the roof off yourself I'm sure....
Deb... Hope you can Lysol away the bug before you all get cooped up inside. Not fun hurricane with sick kids...
Betty I think they are going to decide whether to operate on Dad after the Nov 13 appt. Hmm... You can pretty much copy / paste anything on your computer screen (PC) by hitting the "Print Screen" button on your computer and then copy it elsewhere (in a word document)
Jean - Thanks for the tip.... Put dollar general on my list for tomorrow...
LK - Dylan is Precious... that pirate costume is really good....
Susan Thank you for the prayers... I'm hoping for the best...
YAY Crissy Thanks for checking in...
Barb glad you checked in too.... Is there any danger of trees from the state park falling down near your house ?
Okay here is my latest Hurricane tip.... From Louisiana: Most have heard all the usual tips but a new one I learned is to go on your smart phone or pad and switch off the GPS. This conserves Battery power. Also any other tricks to conserve Battery power....ie. on a smart phone you can remove the "Active" icons by double clicking the bottom button and then press lightly on an icon. When they start "shaking" then press the "x" to delete.
Most folks will have their smart phones and pads when the power goes out. Our TV Station broadcast via mobile during Isaac...
HUGS and prayers for all....
Mary
crissy..so good to hear from you !!!
hope all you northerners are safe and warm...
Just came upstairs, been sewing most of the evening..it is need wicked out there, trees are swaying like crazy and heavy rain..should really go to bed but agitated, guess the storm and worrying about everyone but I will try.
Mary, did try the copy and paste, tried several ways, guess its ow it was sent to me. Yep, I will get the whatfor but I wasn't about to have a new gazebo go off not the wind. While I was doing mine saw the neighbors, much lighter version than mne still up..I will be very surprised if its still there tomorrow.
I'm so glad I had that new shed built, stronger in structure.
You will be on edge Mary until the doctor decides what is best for your dad.
Inside, safe & warm. On the prairies we're safer than most. Praying for those that are in the face of the storm....
Mary - press Ctrl & A to highlight "all", then Ctrl & C will copy and Ctrl & V will paste directly into your screen - easier than Print/Screen and pasting into word or such
Wind has picked up quite a bit but at 11:50 we still have power (knock wood). So very dark and heavy rain.....the tall lilac is just pelting the side of the house.
Everyone stay safe and have a good nights sleep.....
Debbie
well.......... I learned how to peel & eat a pomegranate!! I've never eaten one, but have had the juice of one........ yummy!!
I had a huge line of pomegranate trees at my previous house. They ripen in November and December here. Most of the local pomegranates are pink and lacking in flavor. Mine were red and tasted excellent. I used to share them - I'd load up my little pull cart and walk around town giving them away. I have several trees where I live now that I have planted. I may get a few fruit this years but it's hard to beat the hummingbirds to them.
Can't sleep. Listening to the reports about Sandy and praying that all of you are safe. There are two storms south of here. So far we don't seem to be in any danger but I keep checking.
Crissy, really happy to see you post.
hugs, katie
morning,
here is hoping there will be posts from all saying they and families are all ok
Raining but not amoutng to much, thank the Lord!!
I am up Betty but it is still dark here so I can't tell if there is damage or not yet. The wind and rain yesterday and last night was horrendous. I am lucky to live on the upper part of a hill and we had no flooding issues. So far so good......
Relieved you are ok..damage can be repaired or items replaced but not Barb and Norm!
I'm sure at daylight there will be much devastation.
Heard there was to date 14 lives lost.
1 here in Toronto
leaving for work
Rain and winds..need to get garbage to the roadside so best I get a move on
Morning everyone! So sorry to hear there are 14 lives lost so far! Some people just don't listen. yesterday I was watching the reporters, and even though there were warnings out, there was a guy on the ocean shore trying to fish! He said he did not care about warnings, he wanted to fish! Just plain stupid if you ask me!
Glad you 2 checking this morning. My heart is breaking seeing all the damage and destruction from these storms. I will admit though, I don't have much sympathy for the jerks who decided to joy ride in Virginia, I think it was Virginia. Some people just have no clue. Off my soap box!
Stay safe all.
Beyond stupid LindaKay, same as the family they interviewed that stayed in their condo when asked to evacuate, shaking my head, they would be the first ones to lay complaints and sue..
Didn't see any damage coming in, even Halloween decorations look untouched
Morning..
Crissy!! So nice to see you!! Glad to know you are ok.
Omg, So very happy to see Barb and Debbie are both in good shape to..
MY praryers going out for all out in the Northeast! Again, such devestation for the millions.
Atching on the news constantly.
I feel just awful for all those who did not listen to evacuate and hope they can get to higher grounds until help makes it to them...
Our weather is very windy waves on lake michigan up to 25 feet. Suppose to get winds up 50mph...so glad most all yard arts and stuff put away.
Betty!! You really need to wait for help. Thats all Ill say, cuz I hope Greg and the boys gave you a stern what for!
Yesterday went for a massage, bodywrap and facial!! Wasa mothers day gift from Steve!
Was very nice..the lady said myrightside is so tight I need twomore session to break it loose, yikes!! Lol and the facial, she literally vacuumed my pores! Wow, was kindof weird, but oh my, i feel so "pretty" lol.
Yikes. Steves partner is stranded in florida...Im sure like the thousands he is trying to find alternate travel home.
On another good note, thank you all for the prayers for my Baby sister Honee, she had the first of 3 eye surgeries. It went very well. Next one is scheduled for Novemeber, they will go after the Iris in this same eye, its a50/50 chance she will get at least some of sight back.
Holding you all tight. Be safe!
Have to run for a bit.
Now that it is light and has stopped raining for a few minutes, I looked around the yard. We lost one big tree which thankfully fell away from the house. We are high enough to not have any flooding and just a momentary power loss. I have the boys here today as they lost power yesterday afternoon and it is still not back yet. We are all safe and sound...
Judy, glad to hear about Honee, terrifying to think of the loss of eyesight.
Thought about you this morning as they were talking about Chicago also being hit by Sandy and that mega waves/flooding can happen..sure would hate to see damage done to your beautiful waterfront and the magnificent mile. Glad you are safe..
Any news on the sale of the house..seeing you didn't mention it I would assume Steve/partner and the young couple couldn't come to terms with price..
OHHH nothing like being made to feel like a queen..you waited this long to use up your voucher?
Haven't spoken to Greg as yet and let's just say he'd best NOT bring the subject of the gazebo up..lol
Glad to hear all is well...you can have a craft day with them..lol guess they are now too old for that kind of entertainment?
Barb, trees can be replaced!!!! Thank goodness your boys are there with you and Norm and you still have power.
Altho nothing compared to what the rest of the country is experiencing, we have had high winds the last 2 days. The winds have brought down a lot of dead limbs, a few live ones too. Will not complain!!! Just very glad I was working outside when they decided to come down.
Will be glad when Debbie checks in so we know she is okay.
Yes, storm was in her neck of the woods as well..let's hope she has power and can check in.
The last I saw last night the center was to move over the area where Debbie lives. Of course, that could have changed but I am sure she saw some rough weather.
Just checking in....looks like so far our sistahs are all okay. We had some wind, sounded like someone was bowling on our roof last night, but my walk around this morning doesn't look too bad. Lots of leaves in the pond, garden art upset but nothing broken. Had about an inch and a quarter of rain. No water in the basement so we're good there, and NO snow! ^_^
Ooohhh just saw Marion's post. Hope Debbie and family are okay!

Glad all is okay Cookie. The info I posted was what I read about 10 last night and haven't had the TV on yet so the cone could have changed.......however, I can't believe it changed all that far. The site I looked at show the cone over a wide area and they were about the middle. Hope my eyes were deceiving me.
Chilly here this morning but loving it!!! Of course, it is to be hot again by the weekend. Yuck.
I'm finally able to read some!
Betty HE should have been there to help you, you told him you wanted it to come down, he should have shown up so yes, I think it's best that he doesn't mention it. You can't wait forever for him.
Glad to see that everyone is safe! I'm pretty sure Debbie has power, I know they have a generator and Paul got it ready yesterday if it does go out.
Glad to see you all checking in! Joyce, Sue/Taynors posted on Jaye's thread, she has snow! Did you get the broken water pipe fixed?
Judy, sending prayers also for Honee!
Here is the latest weather map for Buffalo/Lyndonville area
http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/new-york/weather-radar
Wow, that's unbelievable! We aren't even that cold here, and she's only 45 minutes away! Guess I didn't post on the new thread, cause it's not showing up for me, I'll have to go looking!
The pipe is still broken, LK. Just hasn't been good enough weather for them to work on it. They are out there today trying to get some of the leaves up. I still have some plants on the porch and I need to get them inside. My x-rotary club friends have a luncheon today and I've already committed to that, so guess it will have to be later.
I'll try to stay in touch!
Geez...that's nasty looking....
Good morning,
All is well here. Never lost power, but the wind was horrible. So much so that I ended up sleeping on the couch with Izzy so DH could sleep.
A 95 lb dog "yipping" and barking every time she heard something was not going to work. Soon as I came down stairs she just curled up and went to
sleep. Then all the noises outside were scaring me! LOL
Still getting rain (as that map shows) but the wind is next to nothing right now.
Stay safe!!!
Oh Debbie, thank you so much for posting, I was so worried about you!
Okay, feeling better now that you have checked in Debbie. You are so right about not sleeping during the winds and rain. Hence, all the hurricane parties you hear about in Florida. Stay warm, dry and safe and please check in so we all know you are okay.
Joyce, I slept so sound on the couch I over slept! Even my own snoring didn't wake me up! lol I don't think I went to sleep til about 1;30 a.m.
OHHH we did have an I-D--10-T call. (Put it together spells IDIOT). Some kid decided to try and surf down in Wilson on Lake Ontario and they
had to go after him. This was like 10:00 last night!
AAAWWW That's great news about Honee! I hope this surgery works too!
Sue has snow! Awesome!! Well maybe not, I think she's in prime cider season.
Joyce glad nothing was broken! That's a lot o watta!
Hey Crissy! Sue usually just works M/W/F at orchard, so she's at home today.
Some people are truly crazy.....
There is always someone who thinks these big storms are cool and 9 times out of 10 they end up having to be rescued. LOL You are hilarious!
Oh ok, good, glad she's home today, what a mess!!
I found some pictures
