Now Debbie if you were joining me I just might be tempted to try one..
Brought apples from Meaford, told them I wanted apples that would stay firm in the pie and Lordy did they ever...if it tastes as nice as it looks I'm in for a treat..almost tempted to cut one before the teens get here and out their fingers in each of the pies..lol
Not many leaves left on front yard trees, pretty yellow/orange lawn, nice to look at but what a tremendous amount of raking. In 50's I would think but 90 in the house from all the baking. Not a great cook but can I bake..maybe it's my grandfather's (mom's dad)genes that I got..he owned a bakery..can remember going to sit in front step after school with friends in hope he would feel sorry for us and ask us in for a treat.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends
Joyce, so happy that you are joining in the exchange..doing happy dance as I am sure Dianne is! Let's hope that Bertie decides to come..Ann was here last night, I was just heading to town so we didn't chat long..she's looking forward to the trip..asked if we'd have a bottle of wine for the room, would imagine so lol
Waiting to hear how Darlene's mom is doing..visiting hours 2-8pm..just glanced at the clock , yikes it's only noon, feel it should be night time. Lol
That extra long one that I got carried away with is coming your way..love your extra long table..I've been enjoying making them even though I really don't have many to give them to..almost all my Christmas shopping is done..I know, you don't want to hear about it..BUT remember last year when I worked so hard on those 3 quilt and a zillion other things and fell I'll/fainting spells and couldn't go away..promised myself it would not happen again, nor will it..
Joyce, I will be in Michigan Thursday at 12:30.
Betty, sounds like a nap is in order for you?
Joyce, I keep telling my self "made it through today, start tomorrow one step at a time". Glad you are joining the Santa Warren swap, it was such fun!
Betty, I don't like pecan pie....I was just picking on you! I would take the Lemon meringue and a pumpkin! Sounds so good.
I got an email from my old room mate when I lived in VA - DC area. She is up for the weekend and I was invited to her brothers birthday.
She wants ME to surprise him. LOL Good heavens. Hard to believe I have known their family for 35 years, lots of good and also hard times.
Well, cleaning my bedroom....not fun and kitties are helping. DH on his way to parents house. I opted to stay home and go visit Char and the party.
Enjoy your day!
Debbie
Is the party near you Debbie...will do you good to go and enjoy yourself!!
Pecan pie is rare here in Ontario..not a pie we normally think of.
LindaKay if I nap, that is the end of it for me..want to make a few of the girls that are sewers and meeting up with us a few templates IF what I bought works..yours are already packed.
Pie crazy lol - going to do the pudding filler in the a.m. so it's fresh
My runners to date..still 3 more and a table cloth and I'm all caught up
Another runner ready to quilt then I look over the another table and see projects that need done..think that scarecrow will end up in the shed another year!!
Unless of course I don't sleep tonight..
Todd says he will take the blueberry and apple pie!
Love those runners betty!
Should be cleaning the craft room..
then out of the book I bought yesterday I see a few more projects I'd like to do..have a tote with odd's and sods's, hmmm maybe I could find enought to try a few..I go from one craft to another but have been enjoying sewing lately..think because all the quilters like Janice/LindaKay/Barb are doing such nice work that I decided to give it a try.
Those are sp pretty! Love the last one with the stars, and the present ones!
Betty, not far at all....maybe 20 to 25 minutes drive. Not too far from where I went to school & my moms house.
Was thinking the present one would be super easy and great way to use up odds/sods
That is great Debbie..different environments, good friends and laughter is what you need!
Have a good afternoon Debbie!
Set myself down, thought I'd break my work schedule into 3 days which means sit and relax but drats it's only after 2pm.too early to call it a day!
What are you all up to today?
Just went to town and got chili dogs and cheddar peppers for lunch. And a root beer float!
sounds yummy, I'm still in Jammie's, likely I'd do something outside but that would mean getting dressed!
Hello To All !
Ah Betty yes of COURSE I have to root for the teams ! Lucky I'm a fan by marriage, Hubs keeps me in the loop on the latest... Those runners are GORGEOUS ! I suppose Pecan pie is a florida thing... remember Grandmas always had them.....Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to our Northern Friends !
LK YAY! Thursday ! Take pics and post please ! Too funny I was craving Hot Dogs today... crazy huh... had to drive completely out of my way to Sonic to get the New York Dog because of road work
Oh Debbie 48 degrees! I'm SO glad you got to catch up with friends... you really need the break.... Tell about the surprise ?
Joyce and you have 30 degree weather !?!? Wow - like summer here.... yes I've tried the melatonin thing... So glad to have you join the swap...
MIL had a good day... if she gets through the night with no issues they will let her go home tomorrow. We will go check on her in the morning. Hubs and I had a full day of "work at home". but got a LOT done...
Hugs
Mary
Mary, I had such a good time visiting with Charlene and her family. Only told her I would TRY and be there, no promises. BUT, I put on my big girl pants and went.
Walked in the house and heard a "WHOOOP" and her brother Dennis almost hurdled over his wife and daughter....and just grabbed me and a big bear hug. Don't know how he did it but picked me up in a "twirl" and I said "Put me down or I will hurt you!" He was so happy to see me....and I him. Then Char came out and a few other big hugs with her sisters. I apologized to Dennis' wife and she said "I already know all about you...no problem". Wish I knew what he told her! LOL
Dennis was a couple years behind me in school and actually graduated with my BIL Tim. All of his siblings...graduated with all of DH"s siblings.
Stayed about 2 hours, very enjoyable.
Debbie this warms my heart... you really needed a good time like that and I'm so glad you were able to get out there and have a good time.... YOU my girl are VERY LOVED... (HUGS)
Mary, I really felt it today. And it was one of those honest...you can see it in the eyes happiness. I had a great time.
Thank you!
((((Mary)))) Hugs back!
Morning all, looking outside and it's dark but lights on in several of the homes..guess the moms are up and at it..turkey pay in the oven, going to do my nibbling trays, turnip then it will be a piece of cake, oops no cake!
Debbie, so glad you had an evening out and you were in a home filled with love. See now what great things happen when you take a chance..was worth putting on your big girl pants..lol. Have you made arrangements to meet up with Charlene for coffee at some point? Did DH have as good a time with his parents..should have gone with you instead.
Mary, 30 degrees is invigorating lol. Do you have a voice this morning after all that cheering? Let's hooe MIL gets to come home today.
So glad you had such a happy time Debbie. Isn't it wonderful how it renews the spirit??
Busy weekend here - the Wool Arts Tour This is a fair type of thing that takes place each Columbus Day weekend here. There are six different places to tour and each has several vendors selling the things they have made from raising their own sheep/alpacas/rabbits. One of the places is the farm where Brandon rides so we try to support them. Also want to get to the Alpaca Farm. Such wonderful SOFT yarns......There is also a lady who holds an angora rabbit on her lap and gently releases the hairs and spins the yarn as she goes. When one rabbit starts to get a bit restless, she switches to another. They really seem to like the thinning out of the fur. And the yarn is to die for - it is so nice.
Hopeing everyone is well and I'm looking forward to hearing all the stories next weekend!!!!
Meant to add - Happy Thanksgiving Betty, Thea, Dianne and Susan!!!! Enjoy------
Barb, sounds as though you've a wonderful day ahead of you! Do you purchase yarn and if so what projects do you take on..socks, hats?? Is the weather going to co-operate or is there no worry, all inside...look forward to seeing what you purchased. How is Norm??? as always, included in my prayers.
Ann has problems with her feet so I've bought a pair of alpaca socks, think they say it eliminates sweating. She says often socks with seams she cannot wear and these have light seams at the toes.. to tell the truth I'd not buy them, too much care..I'm a throw it in the washer/dryer type of gal!
Can't believe it's ony 7:35am..about another 1/2 hour and I'll have #6 table runner quilted, then between cooking I can sit and do hand stitching..great feeling to look over at the pile of runners that needed quilting/finishing and see them all but finished..
drats, let Riley in, she wanted petting, funny how she only comes home here and there, guess I wasn't paying attention so she bit me..brat!@@@
Not sure if I showed you the lovely apron I got for Lenny(xmas)..quality fabrics..couldn't have even bought the fabrics for what I paid for it!
Thanks Barb, family should arrive late morning/early afternoon.
Just went to put garbage in trash, brrrr, time for woolies..dress warm if weather is same in your neck of the woods.
Good morning, thank you all for the happy thoughts on yesterday. Betty, I needed to go without Paul....it was more fun and more hugs from Dennis! haha
He had to fix his Moms computer and download over 300 pictures from her digital camera she didn't know how to transfer. LOL
Barb, we have Alpaca farms around here and they sell all kinds of things. Will have to visit one and see if they sell yarn also. I know they have socks and such and toys. I have a little teddy bear Jeanna gave me when I was in the hospital....just love rubbing that little thing when stressed.
Betty, enjoy your day today....just know it will be wonderful with the smells from the oven. Ummm...just in case, fire extinguisher nearby? hehehe love you!!!
Dianne, know it is a hard weekend for you....but I am praying you aren't so stubborn to turn down a meal with friends. You need to eat!!
DH got called into work this morning (yeah...OT!) so I am slacking. Just got the coffee made....and get the TV and remote to myself for a few hours. 'The child" got home from work at 11:00 last night...and had to be back in at 8:00 this morning.....so might (knock wood) be a quiet day.
Debbie
The sign you gave me is a reminder of fire extinguisher incase the boys need it..but I'm well on schedule..even have craft room all clean, tables set for everyone..hate having a nice meal and everyone not able sit together upstairs..
Darlene just called, think they will keep her mom in Barrie few more days before transferring her to Midland hospital, says she's doing ok..forget about Art dying a bit but that's to be expected.
Soooo glad Debbie you are smilling today from your outing..great to be with caring friends.
Speaking of friends, this weekend get to hug everyone..can't wait!
Now Betty, I know Joyce and Judy and everyone that was at the Sistah gathering will agree with me on this. IF you need to call 911....and get those HOT, HANDSOME firemen or policemen ....to come running to your aid.....keep the camera handy, and don't be afraid to call. I mean....for your safety and all.
DEBBIE keep talking like that and I'll set the place on fire just to get thrills of the eye candy
Here it's 10:30 and I'm really organized, getting up at 4:30 gave me a jump start..actually sitting here with nothing to do' well almost, forgot a couple of things so will run to Foodland..
Am tempted to start closing back verandah but worried I'll get so taken up with it that I will forget the foods a cooking..can't put the tortierre's and ham in the oven till about 2:00
You having a relaxing day Debbie? Sure like it when I have someone to gab with
Ahh maybe I'll go try make myself pretty, that should take up the entire afternoon lol
Everyone is at work.....so for now yes. Sipping my coffee and watching kittens play with he dogs tail. I do not like having more kitties here....and if she doesn't find them a home soon, they may be moving to a lovely garden in Canada I know of!!!
I started a cleaning project in the bedroom yesterday and I have to finish it today...OH JOY!
Omg no Debbie, Joyce let me hold hers and it was just sooo tempting but not!
I'll be watching my car next time we meet up...one never knows what you will do lol
Nice that you have the house to yourself..I got most done when I would relax, watch tv and do something only during commercials, Lordy lots of commercials and longer than one thinks when cleaning..might have been dusting, finding a place for some lost object, washing a dish or two..amazing..ended up being a game.
If that wasn't enough I'd go through the house on the 1st of every month and eye what needed to be done, some I broke into components , wrote them down, put them into a jar and once a day regardless what I felt like doing I'd do one..
Maybe I should go back to it..
So Debbie guess what I'm saying is you don't have to work all day at it, enjoy the day and just do. Bits here and there.
Been to Foodland, now I'm sitting with coffee and pice of pumpkin pie (shhh) they won't know there was 11 of them and will do hand sewing on the 6th runner.
Well, I have been putting summer clothes away in a tote. Cleaned out the inside of the dresser....and now need to acknowledge the "piles" on top of it from people
(and myself) just putting stuff there to "get at later".
I tossed out old jeans that had paint or tears on them, shirts I just hated.....gave quite a bit that was reusable to the Salvation Army. And don't even ask about books.
I have not been able to do much this last year....and since I am feeling a burst of energy, want to get it done now.
Geez Debbie, would you like to come visit me and help clean? LOL
Shame on you Betty.
Morning everyone! Nice and cool 51 here this morning with a light rain!
Debbie, so glad you went to the party, you needed that big bear hug!
Betty, make sure you clean that cat bite, you don't need it to get infected. What is a tortierre's?
Debbie, cut those old jeans into squares, they make a really nice rag quilt!
Linda, I thought of that....but your not helping me clean out this stuff! ROFL I saw a pocket quilt made of all old jeans and flannel, loved it. BUT...I don't sew!!
I have TONS of clothes in the attic I couldn't part with when the kids were little.
One weekend across the border and you would have one Debbie!! Let's see what weekend can I schedule you in?
LindaKay, French meat pie..nothing as French as tortierre's
Have you heard if Debbie will be able to make it to Michigan?
I know Marion, cut into one, had a piece for supper, then needed a piece to go with coffee before bed..ok, so a piece was easier than getting myself breakfast..now it's break time..Lordy only 2 more pieces..got to hide the evidence!
started the back deck, taking down glass pieces and American stars, now to carry the compressed upstairs..yes I know I've two big boys and 4 grandchildren I shouldn't be doing it but if I do get it done just means more time to sit and enjoy their company, that is unless I fall asleep at the table
No, won't be able to make it to Michigan this trip. So much going on that I have to be here for right now. Will try and get a visit in before winter...but it is birthday season here, and that sends me over board! All three girls between now and Christmas and DH and I are set on getting that attic cleaned out.
Sorry to hear you can't make the trip Debbie! Hoping to meet you someday!
Linda Kay, we will!! It is just a matter of time before Betty wants a road trip to Texas...LOL
That it will be Debbie..
Drats, just got the following e-mail
family emergency on Julie's family side so can't make it up. Will explain when I can. We are all fine just a family member needs support for something terrible that just happened. Will explain when I get a chance.
disappointing but not end of the world as I wipe a tear, just kidding..family comes first..will make him take me out one Sunday next month
Ive got all but one side closed in..would have had it done but was waiting for the boys..big stained glass is much to heavy for me to lift and take down,.greg can do it.
Mom and Jim and perhaps Aunt Muriel will be here in next 10 minutes..anyone got earplugs to share.
11 pies no make that 10 between 8 people.
