Those are happy times indeed!
Thea, have a great trip, and don't forget the camera!

Dianne - Remember to be careful, especially on the step ladder. kb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thea, wish you could pack me up in your suitcase or have me carry your suitcase..would so love to go...but as I cannot I will wait patiently for photo's..now with your bad back don't you overdo, walking/excessive sitting can create problems. Sister Sharon said her back is out and has to spend most of her day in bed..know she should have had the surgery a few years ago..now a waiting list.

Bet Thea you are beside yourself with excitement...I'm excited for you..be good!!

Dianne, did the same when Roger died, couldn't believe the things he had squirreled away, often wondered what to heck he would have used them for??? So imagine you are finding many of his treasures and thinking the same. Ah ha, you just showed your age lol you knew who Arthur Murray was.

You are ambitious today Dianne, feels great when you feel well enough to take on such a project, just don't overdo please and yes, NO ladders.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh oh oh....... I know who Arthur Murray is too............ They still have Arthur Murray school of dance in Winnipeg, and of course Calgary!

Victoria Harbour, ON

There you go..Art had a sense of humour right to the end!!

He and Mae just loved to dance..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

If Bob & I were in better straits financially, I would take up ballroom dancing. We've talked about it.
A couple I knew used to dance at Blackpool and won quite a few competitions. They've both passed on, but while I knew them I used to dance with him and watch the 2 of them dancing - it was beautiful. Every Friday we went to the Legion for their dances............

Saint Tony did dishes and cleaned the sinks wile I worked on cleaning up the little back yard, repotted pomagranites and planted some papaya seeds. I suggested that tomorrow we have a "fun day", set up the new shade tent and make some planters and bird feeders out of some of the "stuff" I tend to collect from thrift shops. There's always lots of work work to do here but with no emergencies looming on the horizon and all the stress we've both had in the last couple of months, we deserve a break.

I also figured out a place where I think we can put up soome shelves to start some of the many seeds which I have. Between the dogs and the cats, it's hard to find a safe spot for small seedlings.

Wish my shoulder would stop aching. Though I am very grateful that it is not longer frozen.

hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaaaay for Saint Tony!!

Here ya go Betty!

Katie, everyone needs a day of leisure now and then!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Picture this

standing at monitor, following instruction while behind me is glass window and walkway for shoppers..not sure why someone in one of the other offices doesn't have me committed..lol

thanks for the smile LindaKay

P.S. I must remember his later years, this IS before my time so laughing

Katie, hugs to St. Tony as well..with his watching over you I'm sure you will be back to your healthy self in no time.

Had bad news today..very good friends of mine are going to separate...feel a tear coming on!!

Tony truly is a saint Katie. I am so glad he has come into your life. How is his father feeling now? No ladders for me Katie - seem to remember making a promise with someone on DH named Katie .....lol If I can't stand on a chair or a table to reach what I need to get I put it on the list for Steve to do.

Santa Warren the stinker had already started Christmas shopping for me, although it had to have been in Jan or Feb as that was the last time he was in a store without me right beside him all the time. I found 3 purchases in his Christmas box - everything was still in their bags and I left them that way. Christmas morning I will open them - tears streaming down my face but a huge smile in my heart.

Susan hope you hear soon about a Cardio apptment. Are you able to head out early tomorrow and miss the traffic? Hope you have some form of heat in the MH, the weather for your area looks cold. Cottage country here in Ontario looks downright bitter overnight for this time of year. Got your winter woolies out Betty?

Have a blast on your trip Thea!! Don't let Bernie lead you astray while you are in Germany!!

Was a good girl this afternoon and made my appointments for Ontario Breast Screening Program appointment and a complete physical - haven't had either since 2008. Now with the pit tumour and all the treatments involved my body was fine tuned almost weekly for 3 years but my GP still wanted to do her exam. Now I've made the apptments I can check them off of my list - only like 1001 things left on the list.

New water softener being installed Friday morning. Glad the other one didn't on the fritz while I was in Charleston. Culligan has reallly ticked a lot of people off in this area. Since we are so far from Kingston a Service call just to check to see what is wrong in $70.00 + and then we are charged that as a Trip Call when the repairman returns plus charged the $70.00/$75.00 an hour labour charge while he/she are here. In the village we have all, for the last few years, used a fellow who works at the local hardware store. He can fix anything and does not charge you an arm and a leg. Culligan bought out the company who made my water softener installed in 2001. Culligan now hoards the parts and will only sell them to authorized Culligan dealers. Can you see the $$$$$'s adding up now? The owner of the local hardware store offered me such a good deal on a new water softener plus a break on any labour charges if I needed the unit serviced. When I questioned him about the deep discount his response was"you and Warren supported me when I came to this village as a stranger and I will never forget that. This is the least I can do for you now Dianne".I so appreciate his thoughtfulness but it is also a gentle reminder of how to carry ones self in these type of situations.I remember all too well being told we were the newcomers and would always be the newcomers. One wise farmer down the road said that wasn't entirely true - while to him and people his age in the area this will always be the Storms Farm to his DD it will always be the Mott's Farm. Some wise people live around me.

Need to get off of here for awhile. Must be feeling better 'cause I was able to sit here, read and type. Wooo hoooo!
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, sharing a tear with you...it will be bitter sweet opening the gifts at Christmas but you will feel Santa Warren's love Christmas morning. Roger also bought me a Christmas gift, he was on death's door Christmas morning, told me he had something and would give it to me later..was not to be but in April I got notice a package was waiting for me at the post office..almost $300 owing on it..yikes..here it was a photo of our home and property taken by plane, had oils added to enhance it..nicely framed, actually Greg now has it..

Most little communities are the same aren't they, very/very difficult getting to be accepted. Now wasn't that a nice thing to say and do..guess you use water from the lake?? Best water I ever had was from the lake..talk about a job it did when shampoo'ing hair.

I got a call the other day as well, guess doctors when you are over a certain age have to call and remind you of all the tests offered..should call the office to see which of them are due..likely mamogram.

Woolies, guess I'd best get them out tonight..can't believe the cold weather is already here.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Dianne, I agree with Betty, it will be bittersweet memories for you on Christmas morning. Glad to hear you got someone local for a new water softener, sounds like Culligan is ripping everyone off big time!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Dianne - Santa Warren is truly watching over you........ he's blessing you again....

Dr's office just called - they're scheduling me for a Lung Test!!
He mentioned copd yesterday, and I told him I Do Not have it, and don't have the cough anymore. I Did Not come in for that - had chest pains. And told the secretary I came in due to thought of heart problems and that I've been known to have Anxiety attacks and maybe it was that. She'll call me back after speaking to the Dr................ I repeat - I Was Not Coughing...........
Hope he's also scheduling me for Cardio as he said.........

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh and as for the question about leaving early tomorrow to camp (Thurs?)..... We can't afford to also have Bob take extra days off, and pay for more nights...... the campground is under 2 hours away, and Bob's taking off Friday at 3pm. Having the full night Friday, all day Saturday, and 1/2 day Sunday is better than what we used to have when Friday night meant 2 1/2 hours setting up until 10pm! This way we should be there before 6pm and no setup! saves 4 hours right there, and same for taking down/packing at home - Very Little to be done........
Don't think there will be much more traffic than normal....... I'm just excited to GO lol

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm so sorry for Darlene's loss of her Dad, and now this with her Mom. I surely wish there was something I could do to help. Know that many prayers are going up from me for them.

Susan, I surely hope they can find what caused your problem. I'm glad you're getting it checked out.

This time next week, I'll be so excited, I'll be all racked and petty to go..... oops, I mean packed and ready..... ^_^ Betty, what time do you think you'll get to Frankenmuth if you get off at noon? I thought I'd leave here at noon and mapquest says it will take me 4 and 3/4 hours to get there. But the way I drive, it might not take that long if I don't get lost.

Not to worry about the mushrooms....they'll be there! Here are a few more pictures.

Lordy, almost fell asleep on my way home, bet within 10 minutes of arriving home I had bath, in my Jammie's and sound asle...then came the ' any update' calls and now I'm wide awake.

Susan, not sure I'd accept such an easy diagnosis, sometimes when we have the same doctor for so long they think they know you so well that no tests are needed..did you feel ok today?

Off tto see if I edcan fall back to sleep..just exhaust

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhh talk about a mushroom farm..love them! Surely there is a garden centre closer to major metropolis who would sell them for you.

gee not very far away is it..I was thinking of organizing myself this weekend as well, much to pack. Will take me 6 1/2 hrs straight driving so early evening it would be..you'll be rested and shopped out by the time I get there. Did I send you hotel address and room confirmation..

As always I relay everyone's well wishes/ prayers..they are appreciated.

Here's hoping Barb won't be too tired to update us tonight on Norm's visite with doctor..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

We just got home after a very LONG day. All good news
No Radiation this time.
No Interferon chemo (That really kicked his butt last time)
A new chemo that is injected once every three weeks for four sessions. SO much easier. He starts that next Wed.
Surgery today was good too. No catheter! She said the tumor is now down to about 10%. She wants to do this again in two weeks....the 17th.
I'm tired - off to bed.
Love
Barb and Norm
Keeping you all in my prayers. And extra special ones for Darlene....

Victoria Harbour, ON

What a way to close my eyes for the night, hearing such great news..you must be so relieved and both of you will sleep like babes tonight. They have made such strides in the healing process. Thanks be the Lord!! Prayers continue!

Baton Rouge, LA

Wonderful news Barb ! Smiling big with you (HUGS)
Betty I too remember Arthur Murray... that must bring some sort of peace to them to know he was still in good humor
Dianne... good luck with the Laundry room. Teared up at your Santa Warren Christmas Gifts... (HUGS)

LK - know you can't wait for the cool temps....

Debbie Thank you for the advice... it is wonderful.

HUGS
Mary

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaaaay for Norm!

I spoke to my Dr's secretary, and she said he made an app't to have a Lung Test!! Geeze - didn't he even Listen to me? Once I went to him with bronchitis and his daughter (also a Dr in his office) sent me to the hospital via ambulance about my heart, Now I go to him and see about my heart and he wants me to have a lung test... I TOLD him that I don't have COPD as he asked yesterday, and that I'm under a lot of stress. Did he listen to me? Apparently not - he's going by a 2 year old visit I did re: bronchitis... idiot...
I think I'll source out another Dr.

Lyndonville, NY

Susan, way back when....about 8 years ago. My daughter "the child" was having major issues. After so many doctors at Strong Childrens, we were at loose ends. Finally they sent us to a pulmonary doctor...aka lung doctor. He was the man who found out what was going on...and sent us straight down to the cardiologist right then and there.

SO, if it is a step....do it. Rule out everything you can as you go along. He will check lots of things besides your lungs, so ....let the do it. AND...also let them set up for cardio also.

Been a long day. Had an anniversary party at DH's work for the 1st year of the new company. Even the news crew was there and some big wigs, Rochester Mayor, Congressman and NY State Senator. Food was nice....and they even had cotton candy and kettle corn!!!

BARB, just read up.....thanks for posting even though you are exhausted. Such better news than anticipated. Get some rest.....

Mary, this is all uncharted territory for us.....but any info we can pass on to each other just might help!!

Heading to bed....
Debbie

Baton Rouge, LA

Deb (HUGS) yes uncharted...

Betty - Your Thread is like Mashed Potatoes to me.... "COMFORT FOOD" ! Love how comfortable I feel here and loved...

HUGS
Mary

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

but Debbie - I've already done the Lung Test..... because I had bronchitis, and the Dr didn't find anything. I really think he's doing this to placate me....... I don't feel it's because it's necessary, but because I was rather insistent. He didn't listen to me talk about stress. He seems to be one of those Drs that make up their mind about something and stop listening.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

morning all,

Still smiling at Barb's news of Norm's report..

Will respond to posts when I get to work, decided to get the border on one of the Christmas table runners so I have something to do while at work today and now I'm running behind

See you in a bit

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Barb, that is great news! Hope you got some sleep?

Morning everyone!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

hello to everyone else :)

I get to work the early shift today, hooray Y'all try to have a good day, and as Dianne says "be good to yourself"

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't work too hard Thunder.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Mornin'..cool and drizzling here.

Barb, what wonderful news. I can see you and Norm smiling from here.

Sad isn't it, that being a parent is the most difficult and rewarding job we can do but one we are so little prepared for when it happens. I know we all have read and thought about what type parent we will be but actually living it day to day is so different. Prayers and hugs to you both! I know I had my share of troubles with my son but finally he got his act together.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Barb, so happy to hear that the tumor is down to 10%. Looks like Norm's doctors have a good plan and it will be easier on him this time. Keep up your spirits; that makes the medicine work better. Take time to rest and to enjoy this wonderful crisp fall season. I am among the bright colors of Michigan and gives me such a peaceful feeling.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Barb - that is so awesome! 10% is a great starting amount!!

It's Bible Study this am, then to pick up stabilizers for the motor home, then some groceries.... busy, busy, busy........ oh yeah, and make sure we have a toaster and coffee maker from our tenting and put them in the MH. So many things we took with us tenting and they're in the shed........ time to move 'em over!! Tomorrow I need to get a cooler and ice packs and put the turkey in, for Monday's Thanksgiving dinner! We have 4 friends coming by for dinner. One's bringing a pumpkin pie/whipped cream and two others are bringing white wine..... yummmm!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, my Sister just called, Dad was supposed to have an angiogram this morning to determine how bad the circulation is in his legs, first thing they did was test his blood to determine how thin it was, and it was too thin, (even though he has not had his blood thinner pills for 5 days) they also said that Dad is in stage 3 kidney failure, as the fluids were not passing through his kidneys as they should be, so they could not do the angiogram. Which means he can not be sedated for any type of surgery. So now we are back to square one with the toe amputation surgery. It can't be done. Which means the bone infection will only continue to spread. When my Sister took him to the family Dr. yesterday, he looked at Dad's chart and told Dad he is one tough nut, with all the medical problems you have, he should not be alive!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh LK - blood too thin, can't do surgery, therefore can just allow it to get worse? Your Dad NEEDS to be a "tough nut" to deal with this. You and your sister are his Rock right now. I'm sure the Dr is only trying to bolster your Dad by saying this, and kudos to him.
Stage 3 kidney failure too? How's your Dad holding up under this news? ((((((((hugs)))))))) to all your family......... I will pray for him and your family.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, hugs my friend..that is not good news..seems we are all being plagued but thankfully we all have each other to lean on! Was the doctor able to offer alternatives. Here's hoping they can provide meds that will at least make him pain free..drats not good. How are you holding up with this news? Do not feel badly if you aren't able to meet up next weekend, family comes first!

Janice, colors make you feel as though you are in wonderland, colors popping from tree to tree..seems on the weekend I said there was little color and last night/this morning I'm doing the 'wow' at the brilliant color schemes..just love when you are driving on a road that trees from each side almost touch and are in color..peaceful indeed. Glad you are enjoying your time away and that likely can meet up with up. Did Stacey feel well enough to join you all?

Susan, am sure you will love your weekend away!!!

Marion, think it's a much more difficult time raising children now don't you? So worry about grandkids..even the best of best upbringing doesn't always fill the child's need.

Darlene just called, her mom is still in Midland hospital, they have to call in at noon to see if when the list of available operating rooms becomes available that she will be first on the list to go. Her mom is quite doped up, Darlene wonders even though Mae speaks of Art just how much Mae is understanding. Nurse at hospital told Darlene that once the operation is done and she's stable, they will send Mae back to Midland which is good and that when ready to be released she will go into a home for a month or so in order to rehabilitate..worry about that, sometimes all these changes can be confusing. It's a must though.

Guess everyone has been called Darlene, she gave me a list and asked that I telephone and tell everyone she knows they are concerned but right now she cannot take speaking of all that has happened so could I be the one who gets her update and be responsible to call everyone..hope no feelings will be hurt

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am still making the trip Betty, and I hope Dad will join me, he will enjoy the ride! We are holding up, but it is just sad to know he is so sick, and they can't do much about it. Kathy is going to go back to the family Dr, and surgeon to see if there is any alternative treatments.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Let's hope they do find something. Keep thinking, other than my mom I've lost all the older generation and now I'm the one that younger generations will deal with my growing old..

Suzanne has been off most of the week with Bronchitis/pneumonia..getting out of bed to come in today for signing..she really should have cancelled the appointment

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh no....give Susan a get better hug from me! (If you dare get that close)

Betty how old was Darlene's Dad and how old is Mae? Sounds like Art may have been like my Dad, always trying to make someone smile. I couldn't think of a better person to be the middle woman ^_^ than you to pass on the news.

Susan, have a wonderful weekend. Hope you'll be feeling fine for it.

LK, I'm so sorry to hear of your Dad's continuing problems. It's so hard for us children to watch and be able to do nothing. I'm praying for you all. I'll look forward to giving you some in person hugs, too.

Thought I might make a batch of caramels to bring with me to Michigan. It's getting to be that time of year!

A girlfriend was supposed to come at 11:00 today and bring another friend along who wants to buy mushrooms and then we were going to lunch. At 11:15 I called her and she was lala so glad to hear from me and I knew the minute she started talking that she had forgotten. So I reminded her, and she said she'd throw some clothes on and a little makeup and be here asap. So guess no mushroom sale today!

I feel like you do, Mary, this is a warm and inviting place to hang out!

Barb, I'm so happy for the news about Norm....gosh everyone is having some tough times aren't they?

Haircut this afternoon, gotta move!

Glenview, IL

Betty, lots of hugs for Darlene and you.

Ok got to go

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lets hope there is good news for Jacob and just might get the ok to play this weekend..he'll be so disappointed! Don't forget to come back with updates Judy.

Breenie as well..seems like Bronchitis is going around..so many have it here. Poor thing, is she a good patient. Didn't think it was contagious but must be.

Drats Joyce, that would have been more spending $$$..sure you couldn't deliver a set to her?? Did you know LindaKay is going to keep an eye on my pocket book at Bronners and I at the quilt shop for her.

Have been watching stories of the Mafia..individual 1 hr. shows..watched Tues. Wedn. and now today..I'm at #17..what's with that..find it interesting though.

Brought in a Christmas runner to hand sew the border, just finished it..OMG I used some christmas fabric for the backing that has winter scene..almost like it more than the front..could be reversible.

Webcam doesn't take the best photo's but will post these for now
