Morning Judy! Sorry to hear about the catalitic converter going out!
No date set yet for the wedding, but they are thinking maybe early next year!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?visit with friends
Thunder, I love that plate, did you Mom paint it?
I have read through the thread but my old brain just couldn't retain everything that has happened in the past 2 weeks. Busy group.
Returned home late yesterday, tired but so happy to be in my very own bed!!! Mom is about the same mentally...sharp but her body is slowly giving out. A little more lethargic and an on going battle with the UTIs. According to the nurse, there really isn't much they can do. She has been on so many antibiotics over the past 2 years that they are slow to use them any more. Their use causes yet more problems. Had a good visit with my sister. Got into some serious trouble shopping thrift stores! Bad us! I found a winged back chair to match one I already have.....$30.00 so needless to say, it came home with me. The color is perfect and condition is even better. Could not believe they would see for that price.
Cleaned up my sewing machine my parent bought for me in 1957..Singer...brought that home. Funny it was called a portable back them but must weigh 100 pounds.....it is the heaviest thing!!!
Haven't seen my GDs so far but I imagine before the day is over that will be resolved.
Will check in later.
Your Singer is probably a 300 or 400 model. They are gems. Many still in use and sought-after.
The tropical depression Norman is coming our way. The National Hurrican Center has a hurricane warning. We are being very cautious. Plastic is up and sandbags are filled.
Stocked up on groceries and showed off my new knee to friends in town. Mostly everyone thinks I've lost more weight. I know I lost about five pounds after the surgery but my scales died and a new battery didn't help. Nice to know I look thinner.
My right shoulder is still not all better. I think it was frozen for at least six months and it seems to be taking forever to get the muscles which have atrophied back in shape. Between that and the knee I have to keep reminding myself that I am in a process of double recovery. I get impatiebnt and want to be out collecting logs and moving large piles of dirt. Not possible at this time. There's lots I can do and I am blessed to know I am recovering.
It's good to have all the great company here.
hugs, katie
Hi all - only online because I need to burn a CD from multiples......
Our Church keyboardist's father is not doing well, so she's not playing for our Dinner tonight.
She asked if my Bob could put CD's on while the diners are upstairs for Grace before dinner.
So, I'm compiling something - she wanted country.......
"Wind Beneath My Wings" Roger Whittaker
A Poor Man's Roses - Patsy Cline
Today, Tomorrow and Forever - Patsy Cline
Heartland - George Strait
I Cross My Heart - George Strait
Heartland #2 - George Strait
The Wings Of A Dove - Ferlin Husky
Just walked in, car load of treasures..
Read posts, will be back ..chilled and hurting big time..going for hot bath / pain killers and Jammie's..
Then it's time to warm up spaghetti sauce
Ohh bought country looking check patterns for dining room window, not sure I will like the look but might try and put them up tonight as a " keep awake project" while Marg reads or knits
Newest picture shows Norman moving west across the Baja south of us. It's clear here for now but it's best never to trust a hurricane. kb
oh my......... hope Norman doesn't get anywhere near you or yours..............
Was their a Quilt Show and Auction today too Betty in Meaford? Anxious to hear about your goodies and who made them.
Glorious day here. I puddled around outside all day - slowly mind you as I still can't move too fast - and I can't really see what I have accomplished. Maybe after a few hours work tomorrow it will make a difference.
I was so pleased with Diesel today. Quill chases anything that crosses her path or even moves towards her path - off she went like a crazy dog. Deer was in Nove Scotia before she had taken 5 steps but I called DIesel and he came right back to sit on my foot. Whew!!! I do not want another dog that runs after anything and everything. He hides behind me when he sees the wild turkeys.
What did you decide about the pies for next weekend Betty? Warren loved Grandma Lambe's. The large Pumpkin Pie from Foodland is excellent according to my guy. A few years ago he told me not to bother making one from scratch that the store's was so good he would buy one. Fine with me, I don't eat it.
Dogs are here with their bowls in their mouths - time for dinner.
Katie be safe!!!! Still doing your exercises? I am positive you are as we both know you need to do them to get your mobility back. Congratulations on your hard work!
Dianne
The sky is clear and blue. They said the advisory posted is the last one for Norman.
I'm working on my exercise bicycle. Still hard to get full extension. and It's very painful.
Had a smoothie made with papayas from my tree. They were filled with sprouted seeds. Hope they come true from seed.
Big poker game in ten minutes.
hugs, katie
Got up at 8am got home at 8pm. I'm wiped out.... Have read ALL the above.
Hugs
Mary
Morning all,
Rained all night, thank goodness I got the grass cut on Friday and didn't epwith until today like originally planned.
Just got breakfast made, Marg will soon be ready to sit and enjoy. She is so appreciative of everything one does for her, a blessing for sure. She saw the bags I made for the girls and said how she would love one, learn how to make one so guess what our project if the day will be..my Christmas projects can wait one more day.
Bought cafe country curtains yesterday, tried hanging them before and didn't like the look, gave them away and here I am trying them again. Worse comes to worse, I'm planning on painting craft room and can hang them there.
Through everything on one of the beds in boys room, later I'll go ohh and ahh
Dianne, I did stop at Granma Lambs..bought some treat goodies and a frozen blueberry pie..couldn't ring myself to cheating on all the other pies so Friday will be bake day. At the Warehouse, they gave all a bag of apples, Marg gave me hers, should be enought to make 2 or 3 large pies.
The fabric shop on main street was sooo busy that I saw a few things I didn't want to wait an hour or so in cutting line.
As for the craft show, as like the past few years I was disappointed..don't think anyone have upgraded their talents, same as what I've seen ions ago and the vendors I like to buy from we're not there..in past years I've bought some rusted art so that part of the day was disappointing. The lady who makes the dolls was still there. There was one painting booth that I would have hung my head putting out such goods but some were buying!
Diesel is very well behaved..am sure it is to do with your training ability and patience. Aren't some days just like that, work/work and you'd never see a difference..do you have a. Lot of raking? Had it not rained I would have tried that new contraption I bought, the one that sucks up leaves, branches and mulches but to wet.
Katie, wonderful that you continue to your excercizes. Am sure each day you see a big improvement. Must go check to see where Norman is..
Susan how did you meal church meal go yesterday? Are your tummies still full?
Marion, your mom sure is a fighter, Lordy she's been I'll now near on 3 years...ohh photo's of your singer please. With regards to weight, people just didn't move around with their sewing as we do so guess the weight factor wasn't important. While taking photo include one of the high back chair..goodness $30.. I bought one for $100 a few years ago and thought I had a bargoon
Oooh Marg is ready for breakfast, will be back in a bit
How is everyone today. I can hardly move; just took a second pain pill.
We are still having water shortages. Today the electricity went off for a while and the water came on. Now the water is off and the electrocoty os back.
I started cleaning both refrigerator and freezer yesterday. In too much pain to do anything but sit now. The second pain pill should kick in soon.
If I quit exercising the knee I'd probably be in less pain but I also would not get as much function back. So I hurt. Big deal. This too shall pass.
I think I can unpack clothes from the van without danger to myself or my stuff so I'll go do that for a while.
hugs, katie
I'm all caught up on reading above, but can't for the life of me remember what I wanted to say to everyone!
Thanks for all the good thoughts on the Pond calendar. It will just be a local calendar available to the pond members and friends. The cost is $10 per calendar and they'll be ready around the first of December. If you really want one, I'll be glad to mail to you.
We had a mini RU here yesterday. Had 9 people. Lots of good food. Sold some mushrooms :o) now I have to make some more cause 2 of them were Betty's!!!! Oops!
I was tuckered when everyone left.
Still have all four kittens. I had hopes that someone from yesterday would want one. Well, they did, but they didn't want the work and expense that goes along with them. Sure can't blame them for that...
A new Menard's opened about 15 minutes away. Grand Opening this weekend. I needed portland cement and had hoped that they would have a half bag, cause a full bag weighs 94 pounds, but alas....they didn't. Spent $28 with a $2.00 coupon they sent with the newspaper. It was sooooo crowded. Stood in line to check out about 25 minutes, but all the registers were open, just that many people there! Plus, I went before church was out, so it probably got even worse this afternoon.
Today is Bertie's birthday. I got her a plant, a really cool rock with a hole in it for either toothpicks or matches and a cement stepping stone shaped like the state of Ohio and the cardinal, buckeye and the dates 1803-2003 on it. Then later in October when we do our girls day out luncheon, I'll give her the rest of her present, which is a Liz Claiborne blouse that she really fell in love with, but wouldn't buy for herself. I got it on sale when she wasn't with me for $12.00!!! Yay! It's a summer top, but she won't care. She'll save it for next year, or wear a sweater!
Okay, a couple more threads to check and then off for mushroom making!
Company just left..I'm very/very tired, can I add another very!
Will get my fabrics/supplies/tools ready for tomorrow night's sewing class, clean up some of my mess in the craft room, hot bath and call it a weekend.
marg enjoyed her visit, didn't sit much, alays up to something..she asked if I could show her how to make a tote...with paper huh?? Found some zany polkadot fabric and had just enough to make her a bag..she was thrilled.
I managed to machine random design quilt one of the table runners, had 1/4 left to do and ran out of thread, msure does take a lot.
Ann dropped n, she is making light box lamps for church bazaar and asked if I could cut the designs out..will do that Tuesday night before bingo. Then mom called to say Jim says he is coming with us to Buffalo, then he is not, then he is..reminded me if he doesn't I'll have to help her do things she annoy do for herself, yep, realize that, big sigh.
Joyce don't worry about the mushrooms, I can get them another time, will be a reason to come visit you..thought they might be a gift for mom for her gardens so don't you kill yourself trying to play catch up. Who were the DG gardeners?? Anyone I know??
Yep, would love a calendar..
Katie, think there is a happy medium re exercise and work, seems to me you are over doing it! Find a good book, feet up and get some resting in.
Off to pack for class
Back from New Hampshire and was sorry that they didn't have color there. We saw some when we went up in the mountains but not much otherwise. I really enjoyed being with all of my kids, especially this year. With two having gone through divorces and the other two losing homes and finding new ones, we had a lot to talk about. Even though Stacey couldn't go due the high risk pregnancy, Chris and Jonathan joined up. For a 2 year old he was a doll! Learned every ones names and charmed them all. He is quite the people person and will go up to anyone in the airport and try to talk to them.
Sorry to hear that Norm must have continuing treatment but am not surprised. When I didn't hear from you I was afraid the news was not good and you would be spending more time with the doctors and in hospitals. I'm sorry about that but know that finding out these things early is a very good thing. The doctors will work with you both to make a plan and I am sure that it will be successful. You both have faith and a strong constitution.
Please add my name to the Christmas Exchange. It will be a great way to honor Santa Warren.
Tell me, what do you think a policy is in a grocery store with a pharmacy in the back of the store:
A customer who is shopping suddenly sits down, looking in distress, for about 20 minutes or more...... there is 1 staff in the pharmacy (behind a locked door), a store clerk walks by and several other customers, but no one stops or asks if there is anything wrong.......
This happened to me today. I'm fine now, but I was having stabbing pains in my head (not a headache), pains in my chest, both sides front and back, and they were enough to make me weep.
I think they saw someone crying (not sobbing, just tears running down my cheeks) and decided not to interfere...... I was scared and the pains hurt! I waited until they subsided and slowly went to the checkout at about 1/2 speed.
When I got home, my DH got the groceries and asked if there was anything he could do. There wasn't - the worst had passed. About an hour I started to *burp* and I think that's all I needed, but in the meantime, I was really scared....
I can understand why the pharmacist didn't leave the counter - they have to be wary of theives stealing pharmaceuticals, but why didn't she ask or call someone to assist? A friend of mine is a manager there, and I called his house & left a message to see what the policy is, but surely there is Something in place.......
Susan,,those are a lot of the symptoms that Liz had when she had her heart attack, you need to go and get things checked out please!
Susan, I understand what your saying....but in my "minds eye" if I saw that...I would assume the person is sick...or just had bad news on an illness. THAT is why they were sitting at the pharmacy "waiting" for a prescription. And...as much as you were hurting...you should have said something. You need to ask for help.
People get robbed...sued...and everything else under the sun. People are paranoid to help.
I am so sorry you experienced this....and you never know if it could be gas pains or something else. Get some rest and feel better tomorrow.
Morning all,
Ohh not a nice experience Susan, frightening for you as well...must agree with Debbie, even though I always feel free to speak or offer assistance when I see someone I tnk might need a friend I'm not so sure I'd have approached someone in similar distress . Likely would have thought same, waiting for something at pharmacy primarily because you were not asking someone to help you. Likely not the answer you were looking for..
With all the different ploys used for theft I'm sure pharmacist are trained not to react..in charge of so many drugs they just can't take the chance..easy to say when it's not you though.
Debbie, how did your weekend go, did you manage to find some downtime for you?
Betty, I haven't stopped moving since Friday morning. Exhausted. We have all of Shannons things moved back home, apartment is cleaned and she goes this
morning to turn in the keys. I came home, cleaned her room here (I used for storage) and mopped almost the entire upstairs while I was at it.
Paul and I did take a break on Saturday and go to the Apple Fest in Hilton. It had a very nice size craft show, lots of great food and the weather was perfect. We even walked down and went through the car show, which I think I enjoyed more than the craft show. Brought home a Delicious apple crumb pie...which I will have a slice of for breakfast!
Should here some answers today to some of the issues we are dealing with concerning Shannon.
Oh happy Monday! NOT!
Debbie
Oh Debbie, you will be extremely sick if you don't take a bit more time to mentally unwind and ease off on the physical work..can the 2 older sibblings not be able to help out? Know they also have busy lives but they must see how taxing it is on you.
Sit yourself down and eat the entire pie, comfort food is what you need..sending warm caring hugs as well.
So want to go to Hamburg craft show but I doubt it seeing as I'm in USA for 3 weekends prior to it..we'll see.
With scraps found on a shelf I was able to find enough fabric to make Marg a tote..took all of 1 1/2 hrs. but I was on high speed. Not the nicest but she appreciated taking it home. got one of the smaller christmas table runner done and a 2nd almost finished..
Marion, bought buttertarts plain as Marg likes them..not as good as my homemade..think that will be on my thanksgiving list of 'to do's' this weekend.
Susan, please remember, too, that you can ask for help. Watch for a sympathetic looking person and gesture or call them adn ask them to come to you. I asked for help once after a bicycle accident when a crowd had gathered around me. The first person said "huh?" so I looked at the next person and said, "Will you please hold me. I hurt." She dropped to her knees and held me while we waited for help.
A few months ago I was in WAl-Mart walking down an aisle when a knee pain hit me and I winced. A woman walking towards me stopped and asked if I was OK.
Betty, I took you advice but when I laid down I discovered I was too tired and in pain to pay attention to a abook . Watched "Guys and Dolls" instead. Slept well and am in much less pain this morning.
What with the surgery, the trip, Tony being gone for five days, the heavy rain and the hurrican thread I was a bit overwhelmed. Just a bit.
Thanks for the well-timed advice.
hugs, katie
I will take butter tarts any way I can get them...plain or with raisins!! Yummmmm. I might just "dust" off the recipe my niece gave me and make some this year.
Love the table runners. I need to get busy on finishing up some things but never knowing when I need to go south again does hinder my progress some times. Not complaining..just every time the phone rings I tense up. So far Mom is hanging on and stable but.........................
Cooler and wet today so maybe I can get some things done inside.
Might have to make a road trip....Betty's making me butter tarts after Steve and the gang wouldn't share. sniff sniff. LOL And..trying so hard to loose weight....can't eat the HOLE pie. lol (and yet I will drive 4 hours for butter tarts).
Katie, don't be afraid to put ice on your knee while it is healing and still elevate. You can do flexing exercises while it is elevated and iced. Did they give you a big elastic band to work with also??
Betty, my older two...one is sick with a wicked cold (Carrie) and Jeanna is doing school (5 classes) along with work...and Joe was finally home for the weekend. He left last night and is now gone for 10 days. Shannon did stay the night with her last night and that was a big help.
I suppose I could have gestured, but I couldn't speak - I was in that much pain........ at times I couldn't hold my right arm up it was sooooo tired.
I know people don't want to interfer, but it was very distressing. Guess also we're "trained from birth" not to look people directly in the eye and that's what I found for me. One man looked at me and when I could have held his gaze I looked away. I couldn't look a strange man in the eye. He was the only person that I feel would have helped and I felt so inadequate to ask for help. It's stupid how pride and fear stop you when you need help.......
I will get it checked out. It's not as if I could be tired. I'd had an 11 hour sleep the night before because the week before had been Extremely Tiring. I was going like a "hell cat on wheels".
I'm still having tiny pangs today in my chest area. I will get it checked out.
Good morning...
Oh Susan, I am sorry that no one would come to your aid...It is a terrible shame people are too afraid of asking if someone needs help. OMG, yes please do get that checked out!! And i think you ough
t to slow down, Lets pray it isn't anything horrific...You may have pulled a muscle, I had a muscles spasm so bad once, had to leave work...but same, couldnt breath, couldn't move...pain everywhere. Gentle Arm wraps.
Debbie, So glad you and Paul took time for yourselves. OMg, you sure have been busy. LOL, might as well continue with the mopping...
Well, so much for cleaning! Just getting things to where i can dust and mop, maybe even shampoo rugs....Screeching halt! DH has some down time so we are now fixing the Sunroom!! The roof was still leaking so they are tearing off the roof outside and replacing! Loosing my sky window, pouting will miss seeing the moon in the winter..As long as that is getting done, DH has always wanted a Motorcycle garage so, expanding for that, Big smiles for me...it will also be where i can go out of the house and elements to have a smoke...Saturday and yesterday, hauled wood and re-stack/consolidated stacks of old and make way for the new.
I hope the girls get to feeling better Debbie, My poor Breenie sicker then get up...Has this cold/flu...
Thunder, i love the plate Momma made you, very pretty! i'm sure you will create a beautiful wall hanging to go with it....
Hey Sunshine!! You bet, I want a calender...it's so exciting, 1...Watched as you labored in its creation, 2 got to sit and enjoy so yes, yes I want a calender, now to brag on how its getting published in a calender!!! Got to remember to tell Julia about it. LOL, will go count my emergency change, lol...And Berties too, Hope she had a nice birthday
Marion, so glad your home again. Keeping mom in prayers, that must be so hard for you and Sister and of course Mom. to not be able to move.
Betty, glad you got a good visit with marge, sweet bout the tote, I'm glad she likes it, but then who wouldn't?
Hi Janice!! So glad your trip was great. Oh gosh, sorry Stacey couldn't go...Awe, but Johnathan is such a sweetie! He was adorable trying to get to chat with the children at Canada's day parade.
So, the last couple days with dh home, im not getting much of what i need to...Lots of can you come here for a minute, can you, can you??? LOL...
Oops time to go get Jake, lunchtime express!
Be back in a few.
Susan you'd be one of the first to tell me 'git yourself to the doctors' so off you go..likely Debbie and Mary would come close firsts...lol
Still think you should come in November for a weekend so that we can make a rag quilt and I can mother you up..sometimes when you think you just can't that is the time to do it. Those brats, will make you a batch Debbie..think BJ and Joanna were first to get into them??
Marion, can imagine you would be on pins/needles when the telphone rings..difficult waiting for the other shoe to drop. I needed a gift for Lenny and he loves b.b.q.'ing so one of the sales people had tuxedo aprons done..really well sewn and quality item..was $25. I eyed it, figured not likely I could buy material for that amount of money so it came home with me..some times you just have to consider time/$$$ and buy it.
Even the little gobbler turkey, for $12 I couldn't buy the fabric..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7wmPWTnDbE
signs of a heart attack!
cute little gobbler Betty......Ya know polka dots are "classy", I love the tote!!
big big hugs to everyone !! I am soooooo very Happy to have my new computer!!!! and come say Hi, when ever I want !!!
thanks again to my very special Angels ^_^
Great to see you back Thunder, missed you..ohhh won't be long we'll be getting our names then can go hell bent to find or make the perfect gift!!!
Katie, glad you are feeling better..you want to be well so badly you are rushing things..rest is to be included in daily schedule as well.
How are you feeling today Susan?
Betty, LK, give me the details of your trip to Frankenmuth. I am trying to work things out so I can join you all. I have been on a whirlwind with the trip to New Hampshire and now northern Michigan but I will try to make it.
got to run..Darlene just called, they've rushed her dad her to Barrie, just had a brain anerysm (?) and not expected to make it..on my wayto hospital
Hi - I watched the video, and it surprised me that they portrayed such a young woman?!?!
Well, when she held her underarm, that's where I was having pain......... and jaws - first one, then the other, and the other day I had pressure on my upper chest when I woke up...... Then yesterday is was "travelling" all over my chest right and left side, and front/back. After seeing that video, maybe I should see about it. I was going to drive, but I guess I'll ask a neighbour about driving me to the Drs. Even waiting for 2 hours in his office is preferable to waiting 7 hours at emerg!
I'll have to call Champions and cancel my appointment with my counsellor today at 2:30pm.
told myself to stop shaking...
Darlene called me a second ago, said her sister/BIL's just made it to the hospital. Art is in surgery but doctor's warned them that not likely unless there is a miracle that he will survive. She will continue to update me as the afternoon progresses..
Prayers certainly appreciated.
Oh Berty, so sorry to hear this! Please let them know we're sending prayers!
Prayers coming. katie
Janice, check you D mail, I sent you info on the Frankenmuth trip.
oh Betty - prayers for Art. How very stressful!
