1st Annual 'Christmas Friendship Gift Exchange' in Memory of Santa Warren

We were all thrilled last year when Dianne and Santa Warren brought up having a Gift Exchange amongst we friends, often thought of more as family.

"I guess we should decided on an upper limit cost wise, I would hate to see anyone withdraw because they were afraid the couldn't keep up with the Joneses (old Welsh expression). So I guess we should consider a guide for the cost factor, it doesn't have to be hand made"

No amount will be set.. gifts either handmade or bought will be within each others budget !!!

Deadline to participate is October 15th

names given on the 16th

mailing by November 10th as to be ahead of the Christmas rush

Thank you Dianne for hosting this Christmas Exchange and we will look forward to our names..

Back to the grind..Aline just dropped in with picking in hand..chili sauce, green tomatoe/cucumber relish and jam..mouth watering.. a few jars are still hot.

Debbie, no change in the weather I guess??

Lyndonville, NY

Thanks Betty!

No change so far, have had quite a bit of rain today.

I have been making roasted tomato sauce all day....cut up over 200 grape tomatoes, seasoned and roasted.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm going to make Baked Potato Soup.... but first have to go shopping for bread.... didn't realize we're almost out!! lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Have a good trip, LK - it sounds like fun with your 13yo GD.

Betty - I just Know the weather will co-operate with you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Debbie, bit of rain won't melt, as long as its not an all day rain..they are so looking forward to Darien Lake..just called them all, Greg and Melanie are gone to Niagara Falls for the weekend, wanted the boys to come here but they said they would stay home, let the gpdogs out and feed them before we leave in the morning. 2 sides left to sew on the quilt then I can clean my mess and start getting myself together..can't find my runners, must have used them for gardening then threw them out..drats..sure am not going to wear sandles..would freeze to death..imagine after all the summer heat I'm talking about freezing.

Susan, need bread here as well, never got out of Jammie's, guess if I put a jacket on, run in, run out I'll be ok. Now watch me meet someone I know.

LindaKay, special time in a child's life, turning from child to almost grown up..a teen..and then for grandma to treat her to Red Lobster and a hamster, can life get any better than that? Safe travels

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL of Course you'll run into someone you know, when you're running around in your jammies....... or if it's laundry day, and you're wearing your "holiest" clothing with the paint stains......you're BOUND to meet the cutest guy in town that you've Always had a crush on.......

mulege, Mexico

I soaked but now I have a tummy ache so I'm off to bed.

Great blooms on my Hawiian baby woodrose for the first time. And a sweet (like Hawiian) papaya which is now ripening. God timing as most snowbirds will be back within a month or so.

hugs, katie

Hi guys, your phantom poster here. I'm obliged to someone here who helped me stay an extra year but I'm done now.
I'm pleased to announce a thousand miles on my inherited bike. I'm fit & trim with good medical numbers. Get off your butt & raise a sweat regularly, it's amazing.
Anyhow I wish to leave you with a really fun photo project which will get world wide exposure on Sunday.
The World Boxing Council has commissioned a 20 ft statue of our home town boy Rocky Marciano. The largest sports related statue in North America.
He arrived in 7 pieces & I was there to document the final assembly. So cool

Andy - that is soooooo cool!! Thank you for sharing this

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, just about to call it a night..just stopped long enough today for a bite to eat and got exactly where I wanted to be by days end..early start so to bed I must go!!!

Andy, sure going to miss your updates..omg that is magnificent...if ever in that neck of the woods I'll make sure to drop in and see it for myself.

Bet you are feeling fit and able with all that biking..perhaps next year I'll bike, snow will soon be here so too late to take the bike out now.

Keep well

Katie, off to bed with yourself..you've likely done a tad too much today.

Quilt is a twin size, extra width..Darlene wanted Mikes fleece sheet as backing so with the heaviness of the top due to various fabrics used i.e. flannel, jean, light cottons, and then the fleece on background too heavy to quilt so tied it..not fond of the embroidery floss but once washed it will fray and won't be as visible

Hello To All !

Debbie (HUGS) Thank you for the update on Dianne.... think she should have brought you and Diesel and Quill with her too.... if she is in NC... then close enough to Louisiana... don'tcha think?
LOL Trouble Debbie....
Thanks Betty - yes the Presentation went well. She was a nice lady and realizes the value of advertising in Baton Rouge... it sure was weird walking around down there "working". I texted Hubby I was bored because I had a good wait to meet with her. So he tells his co workers that "his wife is working on Bourbon Street today" sure there was some talk !

Judy I too LOVE your infectious smiling posts ! What pasta dish did you make ? did you serve the wrestling team? I sure miss feeding the band.
HUGS Katie ! You made it ! I know the doggies were so happy to see you.....now just to recover....
LK - a HAMSTER! LOL.... always a joke around here DSD got one for Christmas when she was 9.... they are so cute...

I almost feel like a real person again. Sure hope I can get stuff done around here tomorrow. Need to dust or clean my room....

Hugs

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mary lets hope you sell a good size package so that witchy poo will put her broom away lol.
Lance sounds like my Roger, he was on the road and one night he was about 75 miles away from home so I drove to meet him and spent the night. Kids were young so I was up early so I could relieve the sitter and get kids to school..in the parking lot had to be a dozen or so truckers getting their rigs warmed up, as I get into my car he yells out, ma'am you forgot your money and hands me $$$..

working Bourbon Street, too funny..when we were in one of the bars on Frenchman Street there. Was a couple. And I told Suzanne she was a high class hooker I was sure, hmm wouldn't have been polite to ask now would it.

Here's hoping you are full off energy today..don't overdo

When do the girls come home for a visit?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

good morning - I had a great day yesterday - cleared the den so Bob & another fellow can fix the den wall, went to pick up a lily from Carol's Garden , got the key for the compound to store our "new to us" RV, Bob took me out to a steak dinner last night, then we came back to finish clearing out the RV to clean it for our use.
Woke up this morning to pressure on my upper chest..... guess it's stress re: 'lack of job' status. I've been having 'prickly pains' in my upper right arm too. Now I can't get back to sleep...... I need to de-stress, eh? lol

This morning I'm going to the church for our Fall cleaning bee (picked up some donuts for the crew), then in the afternoon a fellow from Alpine construction will be here to help Bob - hope the wall gets finished, it's 3 hours of work the fellow is here for.....
Busy weekend........
Monday a charity is coming to pick up some furniture, etc from the church (a friend of mine donated a couch & chair to the church, so we're donating the old set). Tues & Wed I'm going to orientation, etc for my job search. These two companies will help "older/disabled" people to find jobs, so I'm going each of the days to see what they can do to help me.

Baton Rouge, LA

OMG TOO Funny Betty ! Yes that's something Hubs would do...

I need to get motivated this morning.... got so much to accomplish...

Next Saturday hubs and I are headed to ULL / Lafayette with MIL/FIL to visit the youngest DSD2, it's "Freshman First Down" time for the parents to come visit. We went to DSD1's last year in Natchitoches and it was fun but not looking forward to this year cuz hubs does not want to stay the night. DSD1 is planning to meet us there then come home with us, has a long weekend.

Get some rest Susan...sounds like you need a break.

Good morning everyone ! What are you all up to today ?

Hugs

The New Orleans market ought to open up considerably soon, Mary. With theTimes Picayune going to only 3 or 4 issues a week, the Advocate is opening up a NO Bureau...folks will see much more about NO businesses, etc in our daily paper.

Hi using two computers..tabby to share a pic and the other to post story to go with it!

Edited to add Chapter...haha enjoy.

Good Morning, actually now Afternnon!!

Betty and Linda Kay...Have a wonderful time with your grandchildren!!
What fun, you all will have. ROFLOL, I think if Betty can dance up a storm in LA, she will take a Slide, yeppers i can picture it! I still just Love that you all make the time to create such wonderful memories.

Oh Linda Kay, Awe Happy Happy 13th Birthday for your DGD!! Oh my gosh...Do your self a favor and ONLY by one (1) hamster!!! Good heaven we made the mistake of getting 2, one for each kid...Ackkkkk, had dozens and dozens of babies, eye balls bulging at the memory, babies having babies, it was quite the nightmare, lol.-now...In the end we gave them away to separate people, said never ever again!!

Katie! So glad you made it home safely. Hope you enjoyed a nice long hot bath…

OMG, Moonie, you are too cute, no one has called me that (jujube) in ages, big, big smiles!

Mary, I know you miss the Band stuffs. I miss all the Band stuff I did with Julia too...It's rather cool to watch them at the games, I still just love to watch them practice and see all they are doing. Oh and how exciting, They got new uniforms this year, just gorgeous. I hope your visit to the College goes well, as well as the long weekend at home! Ok, so Dear Mary, Hahaha, since you asked, a little story for you, and everyone.

The pasta chapter …

Me and my big mouth and or fingers, volunteered to do something for each of the Pasta dinners. I thought since Jacobs last year of Foot ball, I'll be more involved in these dinners other then just serving one meal...So I happily volunteered to make garlic bread the first time around. Now, you have to remember, I don't cook much, just basic stuffs, lol how hard could it be? That very first Garlic Bread episode, I was doing great! I looked up how to make the garlic spread, thought oh how easy peasy is this! Confirmed with the cook in the house, DH...yep I can do this. Went off to the Walmart, got my rather Large French Bread they sell 2 loaves, cut them in halve to make four loaves, right. Thought, oh let me check out the pre-made garlic spread, ahhh, forget it too expensive for just a little bitty container. Back to original idea of making my own...laughing at the store, to be so happy for pulling out the Butter to soften, before I left to shop for Bread! I spent almost 45 minutes looking at the types of bread haha. Ok finally choice was made, bought and home by 1/2ish...oh yay, running on time. ( this was the same day i bought the "Spaceship" lol, while chatting with Moonie, who gave me a boost of encouragement on both!)
Because this is how crazy I am about cooking, read the directions again and did my own thing anyway. LOL.
Thought well to make this easier, I’ll whip the butter!! Get out Breenie’s mixer wand and proceed. Oh good gosh!!
Butter everywhere, haha, hey but it got whipped nice and soft and I added the Garlic salt, finger tasted, mmmm, mmm!! I was pleased to pieces. Proceed to next step, cut the loaves in half…Oh my gosh one of the loaves was not fully risen? what a jip!? Ack no to time to run back at this point, so decide, some will just have a flatter piece!! Using soft spread thingy Butter em up!…watch clock, still running on good time! Yay that worked out well, pretty proud of myself. Check the clock again and woohoo time to put the bread in oven, Well, my cookie sheets were just several inches shorter then the bread, hands on the hips here, now what? Ahh, place foil down, worked marvelously! Rolling eye balls at myself, never did figure out how to set timer on the stove, haha, always have kids do it… Eaxactly at 5:15 put bread in the oven and set my cell timer, eye brow raise, I know how to do that one!
While baking for 10 minutes, I dash off to get ready…Ding ding, ding…its ready, dash back to kitchen, decided I was pleased at the “toastiness”, butter melted and oh smelling sooo good. Take it all out and slice, place in a bowl, cover with foil and its time to leave…Haha, left the counter mess, because yep, it was still there when I got back! Haha. Now I have been also sharing vehicles( a whole other story) So I was on Pins and needles that Breenie gets back in time with the truck, she did, good girl! Drove off to school arriving exactly at 5:40, I was so tickled right on time, bread still warm. Now to find the Cafeteria…So, I follow the noise! Ahh heres the Café, walk on in and screech, These kids are eating desert!! I said, geesh am I in the wrong place?? I look around, my kid isn’t anywhere, so I apologized for being so late. A mom takes the walks it around, disappears in seconds…So I figured well Jake musta finished! So I txt him to see if he wants a ride…No answer, so I went home, thinking he’s there already. No Jake, about 15 minutes later, I txt again, hey where are you?? He texts me back asking, Where ARE You? He calls seconds later to find out where I am at! So I tell him I was there, He wasn’t so I come home…
Dead silence before he says MOM, you fed the Freshmen!!! ROFLOL, Holy Crappola!! Im so sorry…Blah, blah.
He laughed, said don’t worry about it…I was like well at least I fed guys who had Football stuff with them!
When he got home, I was on the deck, He stood in door way, hands on the hips and gave me a look that is just way too remeniscent of his dad with I can’t believe you did that, shaking his head!
Well, now, the Varsity football Moms didn’t exactly laugh at the whole episode!! Apparently they made quite the mistake of making fun at how stupid I am in front of my Son…So not a good thing to do. My boy stuck up for me saying how its my first time at this and I tried, did what I was suppose too, dadada…they kept up and my kid, spoke up even louder with some not so nice words at their behavior!! Lol, my hero, then he gave me a hug.

That was week one! Week 2, I was to bring the water or gator aid…Did the whole shopping thing, decided on water was more in my budget, lol.! After lunch loaded cooler with ice and bottled water. One thing I noticed, no one ices up the drinks…So that was my extra, nice cold drinks. Arrived with map of where to go, ROFLOL, a whole five minutes early!! No one is coming, and I was just hemming away thinking I was in the wrong place again! 10 minutes later…finally the coordinator comes with whatever she brought, So, I said hi, I brought water…She says well just leave it there, but I don’t know how you will get your cooler back. She was kinda snippy about it! So I said well, I can take it when I leave. She said, Well you can stay if you want to, but we have enough servers! Now, instead of falling into her tone, bit my remark off and said well I’ll txt Jake and have him bring the cooler home with him, (DUHH.) I left, but I was kind of hurt! So I got home, DH said how come your home so early, told him the story, he said I should have stayed to chat with the mom’s…Hello, she was extremely rude and guess what? These mom’s haven’t spoken a word to me in the past 3 years why would they start now? I said Whatever, I did what I was suppose to.. LOL, which brings me to this pasta dish!! I questioned Jacob, so what kind of Pasta do the parents bring. Better, What do you want me to bring? So he tells me all kinds of stuff, lol great answer! So I rifle through cabinets to see what we have…Cabinets always loaded with pasta! Oh just my luck, 4 jars of Ragu and 3 packages of Rigatone! Get it all together the night before. Now, here at home, we (dh) always “doctor” up the Ragu sauce…Not that its not good, but you know just add extra taste…So, I get it all in the pot ask DH to Dr it up! Nope your dish you dr it up!! Okay then…So I added my spices, question how much, get a quick lesson! Lol, I did buy extra mushrooms to toss in. Instead of ground beef, Jacob wanted Sausage, So I made extra and tossed it in! Again, timed everything to the very last second…Viola! You saw my post of what happened yesterday…The kids “raved about it”. I was just pleased as punch about the whole thing!!
Now what I didn’t tell you, The one mom tried to make me feel stupid, Proud to say instead of reacting, I just busted out laughing…(my teeth even slipped) not caring for her, I just said, Well the Football team loved my bread!
And, all in all I did have a nice chit chat with the other moms…
Oh golly for my next time, I bring Salad, lol…They are getting an actual Salad bar, lol I love salad bars!

….
I was always intending to tell you all the stories anyway, so I hope you enjoyed the banter of my cooking skills! LOL, I look back at it and just think, I am sooo Lucille Balls twin sister in Brunette!
You asked what we are doing today…

Today I decided to play further, DH doing paper work,. But, We are having a family dinner tonight, ROFLOL, needless to say, Steve is doing the cooking!! And we are hoping to have a nice fire, if the winds calm down.

Oh and by the way, game was last night!! Jacob Got three sacks!! And a whole other bunch of good football moves, I was just a grinning ear to ear, wink, musta been all the energy from my Pasta, giggling, dontchya think?

OK…Going to post this!

Hope you are having a nice day too…OH Yeah!! Happy first day of Autumn, sunny and cool here, but lots of Sun!

Cooking Adventures with Judy....you can start a blog...Grin

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning/afternoon and almost evening all rolled into one..

sitting here at the Clarion Hotel in the inside water park, and the boys are thoroughly enjoying going to have to do this on my own one weekend..maybe the cold of winter!

Lovely 2 room suite, couldn't ask for nicer accommodations.

Left home this morning in the pouring rain, right on time 6am, on the way to Toronto Jeff calls, do I have my letter from Greg and Jeff with all my info allowing me grandma to take the kids across the border..so official?? Heck no, Jeff had his done, told him to add kids name, passport info, my passport info and parent signature.Greg and Melanie are in Niagara Falls for the weekend so Jeff had to some creative signing. Lol

Rain off and on the entire way, 10 minute wait at the border..asked the boys while waiting what not to do and what to say? All four said not to ask for fish and chips so laughing..many of you will remember that border episode lol headed for Ponderosa for breakfast/lunch..told the boys 1/2 hr was grandma's then off to Darien Lake..posted a package for Thunder, went to Hobby Lobby, right in to watercolor section, went to Joanns, grabbed some fabric and right out, didn't take much more than my 1/2 hr..boys were good about it.

arrived just at the park was just as it was opening, light rain here and there, boys enjoyed many of the rides then it started to pour. grandma came up with a plan, why not drive to the hotel. Play in water feature for a couple of hours, warm up/dry up then head out for early supper then head back to the park, close it and also do the Halloween frights..

What was nice as we drove was listening to the boys talking about all their trips, a few not remembered as well. Because of the age they were then but the others had tales to tell them.

Judy laughed so hard (am sure people are wonderi g what is up with me) then my blood was boiling, hate clicks and sure isn't nice that they treat you in such a way. Hugs to our football player for standing up to them. How unmannered they are or at least one of them is. Steve is right don't back away..omg you and your teeth..

Ooh, Braedon just slit his foot open, something in pool. Drats. Hope it's not hospital time

Victoria Harbour, ON

Deep cut but he says no stitches..someone lost an earring in the water basketball pool, with running and jumping it dug rights in..have gauze and tensor type band aid..he will limp tonight!

Well boys are ready, best we go for supper!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol Judy - you sure are a "cooking fool" LOL Well, good that the Freshmen enjoyed your bread, and good for you that you "tossed off" the snippy comments by the other mom!!

Well, my day:
8:30 am load car with goodies for break, for the cleaning bee at our church. 9am let the other workers into the church.
One of them (Doug) was ready for tea before work lol
Anyway, everyone got to work on upstairs sanctuary and downstairs hall Cleaned up the nursery & "cry room" too.
Got old furniture moved outside (so it can be picked up on Monday am) and put new-ish furniture in it's stead. Much nicer, not 70's orange flowers as the old stuff is......
We get together a cleaning bee twice/year - Spring and Fall - just before the dinners, Ham Dinner in Spring, and Fall Dinner in (well, you can figure that one out LOL).....
The Plumbers were there too, putting the finishing touches to the old, rotting plumbing by replacing it, and filling in the on-site holes and putting cement pad at the side door. All the old pipes from the church to the City property were disintegrating and causing backups....... By Service tomorrow all the cement should be dry and they'll remove the "tape" around the area, maybe......
Then, it was Home to finish cleaning the Motor Home, and in the meantime Bob & Rick (from the building company) were working on the roof and the den wall, respectively.
I was going to go to the church and wash the bathroom floors (especially the Ladies where the tracking of mud was), but I had swept it, and attempted a bit of a wash, but it will have to do - it was only the floor that was affected.
I'll go back before our Fall Dinner on the 29th to do it.
We also swapped out the "prayer/candle" table because our pastor wanted a table with storage and the little one we had was just legs and a top (albeit a carved set of legs, very pretty). The "new" table is end table height, and not tall enough we thought, but one of the elder ladies said "It's fine - if they have to bend a bit, so be it!!"
I'm home now, obviously, and need to make some butter tarts - I promised our pastor I'd bring some for after Service Fellowship, and I always keep my promises LOL At least...... I try......
Oh, and what to do about our trees at the front of the Sanctuary - one is a hibiscus tree (about 8' tall) and the other is another tall one. Guess this summer when I was away no one was watering them, and they almost look dead...... I don't know if I can bring 'em back, but I HAVE to move them from the sanctuary...... I just Have to - they really look sad/sorry/awful........

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Here is my "new to me" Elliptical Health Walker
It's a picture I found online, but it's the same thing. In use it doesn't take up much room, and stands up when folded, so it's good, too!

Hello To All !

Jean - that is something isn't it about the Times-Picayune ! I don't believe NOLA folks will buy our Advocate to replace it though..... time will tell....

Judy - I thought a lot about you today as it seemed the "Spirit of Judy" took hold of me and I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. Thanks for sending that spurt of energy, can you please send again tomorrow ?

LOVED the pasta story... Shame on those mothers what are they thinking? I always was nice to all our Moms... so hard to get volunteers you don't want to risk losing them.... they must be idiots not to be thanking you for your help....

Too funny I got where I would bring salad for the band.... and LOVED it... even had one kid tell me he had "never had salad before". Just was so cheap and the kids loved having something fresh. Bagged salad large $5... I'd get two... veggies cheap... generic dressing....a few special items... shredded cheese, etc. They loved it....feed 30 kids for little $.

Wow Susan you got a lot done today too !

Betty is the cut okay? didn't skip a beat? How cool to get a suite... I love the new suites they have in hotels... very homey...
Did ya'll find some great places to eat ?

Hugs
Mary

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

It seems the busier I am, the more things I have to do lol
Oh, and Judy - you can send some more energy to me, too, please..... I've been doing a lot, and I know my sistahs are sending energy to me..... cuz I'm having trouble finding it on my own, so I KNOW it has to be sent from you all.....

Can't resist posting on the Lord's day this bible interpretation

The Children's Bible in a Nutshell

In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was darkness, and some gas. The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one,' but I think He must be a lot older than that.
Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did.
Then God made the world.

He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.
Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden.....Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel.
Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.

One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.
God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff.   Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.   One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town.

After Joshua came David.. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.

After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore.  There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of The New Testament. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn.(I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Republicans.  Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.

Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount.  But the Republicans and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminium. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

mulege, Mexico

good morning everyone. I'm still having some trouble sleeping and waking up very stiff with some pain in my knee. I did a lot of bedroom cleanup yesterday. Tony took the day off. I had told him to come in late but since he's been here evvery day for about six weeks I guess he decided to take a day off. can't blame him. There's still stuff in the van but nothing that urgently needs to bw unloaded.

We have a lot of green here. Still hot for another two or three weeks.

I'm so happy to be back with the furries, except maybe Scout who barked a lot last night. Woke up uesterday morning with all five with me in my twin bed. Good snuggles. Max our newest family member was adopted at about age three. He has become very attached to me and is not leaving my side. The others are reassurred now that I'm back.

No clicks here; I won't allow it. Was thinnking the other day how sad it is that the AA groups which I've been to lately are so full of clicks. Supposed to be a support group. I finally gave up and have been doing OK. The people in the group are seriously resentful that I'm doing better without them than I did with them.

I have another new basket of fabric to unpack. Got my basket of "blenders" put away yesterday. Christmas fabrics today. Got them on eBay.

Had to buy four new tires and two new batteries for the van so I wasn't able to buy more building supplies. I'd already bought the fabric. Maybe I can quilt the house. Saw a VW painted llike a patchwork quilt yesterdeay. can't remember where.

I need to move around.

We're having a water shortage and I can't so laundry. Very annoying. like in Mexico so I need to chll. I can still do dishes and there are lots of them dirty.

May go to town later.

hugs, katie

Hi Katie. Now the fun of settling in begins. Tony probably thought you needed down time as much as he did.

Mary, There are already a number of subscribers in NO to the Advocate, and some folks have to have their daily paper. i am one who enjoys my daily paper and feel kinda lost without it.

It is my understanding there will be a NO edition, or a daily NO section. The Advocate has already hired a couple people from the T-P, one to head the NO bureau office and one from classifieds to handle that section of the NO edition.

Hope every one has a lovely Sunday. Betty hope you have a safe trip home.

Hi everyone - another busy day today.
I feel SO badly for the way the "trees" at the front of our church have been looked after by my this summer. They're almost dead....... While I was gallivanting around camping this summer, I hadn't asked anyone to keep a watch on them and water them. NOW people are asking me if I'm still looking after them. Tomorrow I'm to be at the church because of the furniture we're donating (we have newer furniture that was donated by my friend who moved to Malaysia).
I'm going to prune the "trees" - one is an Hibiscus, and I'm not sure what the other one is, but it's on the other side of the front, and then there's the 3rd one - it's a lost cause.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

All home safe and sound, must say that it was a bit of a stressful drive, why you ask? That dream of my having an accident and killing all of us stayed with me the entire time I would drive..to make things worse on Friday I watched a show on people who had premonitions or I'll feelings and that wasn't a good thing to watch before leaving on our outing..but here I am, a tired little old grandma, ready for bed and a neocitrin just incase itch in throat continues. Had a laugh on the kids, told their parents that they couldn't keep up to me, no stamina, guess Greg's boys told him much the same because he called to say boys were already for bed and here I am awake, said he told the boys he had no doubt he himself could keep up the pace at which I go..old age is creeping up though..lol

Have all the fabric I bought at Joann's sitting on the coffee table, eyeing them and coming up with ideas for them, wasn't that long ago they would already be cut and some sewing done on them tonight. Not to be anymore.

Busy weekend next weekend, Meaford Applefest, company for the weekend so best I rest up..thing is, I no sooner get one weekend behind me that another busy weekend is ahead of me. That's life!!

Katie, bet Jean is right on target, Tony probably could see that you needed the rest and if he did come you would be there right beside him trying to help!! You rest, can't afford not to, wouldn't want to do damage to your knee.

Jean, does that mean any of your newspapers are no longer printing. Guess the computer age is playing havoc, can purchase subscription and be paperless.

Susan, hope you can bring the shrubs back to life.

Debbie, thought of you when I passed the cracker barrel, just didnt seem quite right being so close to you and not seeing you..think it's one of the only times, except for when you were very I'll that we've not met up..hope you are doing ok.

Marion, hope your mom is dong ok

Evening Prayers being said for Norm..

Sure wish Criisy would drop in

LindaKay, how did the 13th birthday celebration go? Braedon was telling me on Friday night he was at a girl he goes to school with her Sweet 16th birthday bash. Said dad spent $30,000 on the bash. Father took her to NYC and spent $5k on a dress..even as teens my 4 thought it was outrageous..where is the dad's brain??

In the hotel we were in, they were having some sort of youth beauty pageant, will have to check the name of it, anyway, went from young children to young adults..in the hotel lobby, mothers had them dressed to the hilt, some young ones dressed quite provokinly..can't imagine what their outfits must ave cost..shaking my heady hinder, package sent your way ..mailed on Saturday.

know I'm missing some of you but eyes are heavy
Going to finish my hot drink and off to bed I go.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend

Betty - they're 7 ft and taller indoor trees. I think one is about 9 ft tall..... or used to be before all the leaves fell off and I had to prune some of the top off...............

Hello All ;

Katie glad you are getting some rest....

Jean - my in laws are literally the only other folks I know who get a paper much less a daily paper. Hubs likes to read the Sunday one so we will pick up one from time to time. When we get one I do usually read a lot of it but it takes me all week to get through it.... I suppose since our paper is locally owned we are safe to not lose it as NOLA did... their paper had been bought out by a large company. That's the problem with my industry too (buying out by large companies)
Hugs

Betty have no doubt they had a hard time keeping up. I know I had a scare like that once... and talked myself into thinking reality would fall into the way of my dream. It's eerie... But all was well although I was a nervous Nelly.

Maybe it's just interpreted incorrectly... usually it's when there is something we have no control over... isn't it ?

Susan - I wish I could give advice on the hibiscus. I do know they do not like the second "number" in NPK. I buy a special fertilizer for mine and use a spray bottle to spray on the leaves. Did it today and as often as I think to.

Betty what do those parents think about when they blow so much $ on the kids?

Hugs
Mary

Thanks Mary - now that I've heard from two of the garden centers I spoke to (at least to tell me it could be as quick as I need), and they both need me to speak to "higher ups" to get approval, I'm happier and more sure it can be done. A lot of these places are more than happy to look after people in their area, and a charitable institution to boot!
I'm hoping for good results tomorrow.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Glad you made it home okay Betty....I think your dream was more a manifestation of the boys growing up and this being one of the last Grandma and the boys trips....dreams of that sort are rarely literal.

As for the NO newspaper, they are going to 3 days a week rather than daily. It is rather sad, technology has true casualties...and I can not imagine a world without books, newspapers and magazines...I am very old school there...I can not imagine curling up with a Kindle at night.....imagine the BONK when ya doze off and Kindle cracks ya in the nose....LOL I'll stick to my paperbacks.

I must say parents of that sort are setting their kids up for a whole lot of Reality shock when they grow up and realize the world isn't as lush as the Parents showed them....and they can't have everything they want...now.

Hope you all have a good day.

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

Coffee anyone? LOL Im serving for Linda Kay! Hope the Birthday party was a success...

Betty, so glad you are home again. Sounds like you all had a great time. Oh I bet you were just thrilled to hear the boys talking about past trips...I love to hear my kids talk about how they want to go see places of past vacations. ie: The Grand Tetons and the whole trip out West...Adding how they would appreciate it now! The time we went, Breenie and Jacob were little little and Julia was going through her depression stage, that was a rough one, but the only way to get her away from it all was to leave the State, LOL so we went far far away...Anyhow, I am thrilled for you and the boys to go and have a ball! Had to giggle about Jeff doing some fancy signing, good thing he didn't go off somewhere too.
Oh yes, I took a closer look at your quilt for Darlene, Its awesome! I am sure she is just gong to Love it!!!

Katie, so glad you got to relax at home.
Oh my gosh, i agree with the AA meetings...When i was attending, it bothered me that it wasn't a meeting for just people with alcohol problems, There were people who had Big time drug issues, which to me just didn't coincide with my (alcohol) issues...Does that make sense? Anyway, I did find a group that was more just for Alcohol and better, it was at a location that was more suited to me as well. But, i am with you, one day, one step and things do get settled down...We just have to take a deep breath every now and again.

Thanks all about the mean mom, it amazes me that that is how the kid is going to grow up!! ROFLOL, Betty, I almost wished my teeth would have fallen out, just to see the the priceless look on her face. Oh Gosh, that is quite the bash?? Are those people that rich, yikes not that it would ever happen but id have to take out a loan, lol...
Also in agreement, those kids are in for a real rude awakening...LOL and my kids shake their heads at all the BMW, mercedeze etc in the student parking lot.
Oh Betty, Want to let you know, I will be able to Catch the Amtrack right from our Train depot...Think it lays over in Downtown Chicago for a short time...Leaves the depot at 2-2:30 and arrives in Grand Rapids at 10: Best part it's only 40 bucks round trip!! Geesh, cheeper then a tank of gas.

Mary, Yeppers, Salad bar is a lot more inexpensive. Especially since we have a lot of people giving us fresh tomatoes, cukes and carrots...One thing I have noticed too, a few moms put all the stuff in the salad...kids, i think like to choose what they want in it...So my plan is to get Premixed bag salad and add a head of lettuce and have the additionals in separate containers....Ahhh and how did your cleaning bug go? I thought about you too yesterday as i was cleaning up...Omg, How wonderful it was to have all of us at the dinner table. We had a really good visit and then actually had a beautiful fire too.
Haha, my cleaning bug gets started with the just get up and do it! If i don't start right away, lol I'll find every other thing that needs to be done...I was a born Procrastinator! LOL, This last go around, i actually made written lists of stuff That i wanted done and Checked them off as I went! Sigh, i never really seem to get 100% finished, but i am now happy to see the floors, lol and the furniture! oh my next big endeavor, starting today, wash all the hoodies and thin jackets...Will do the same as bathroom, take it to your room or off it goes to Salvation Army truck!
Well and just to let you know, never finished because, one has to stay put to do that, My entire summer gets interrupted with all the travel, and now interrupted several times a day with pick up and drop off, kid or car...lol still sharing vehicles.

This last Month we have gone up North almost every weekend...The last being a visit to my sister Honee B's.
At this point, i am going to ask you all to keep her in god thoughts and Prayers. She is to have eye surgery soon, I think by Novemeber. She is going blind due to some how getting poison in them. This was while she was incarserrated, and then not getting the proper care... It's a really LONG, long story, But she is severly Bi-Polar, now trying so very hard to get her life back into some kind of control, good for her!! She has come a long way...
She and DH are living in an old beat up trailor they are working on fixing up...Problem, Both are disabled, so they are relying on other people to help, a very slow happening since they live in the middle of nowhere and very little money o boot!! So we took a ride up just to visit and while there Steve did some electrical work as well as other little repairs to better the conditions! He made them a list of stuff they need to do any work that needs to be done. I guess as soon as they get that, our brother Bo will go and do the work for them...
But, as cool as Honee is, she invited our Brother Bummer (Jack) and He and the family drove over, a 2 hour ride for them!! It was a marvelous family gathering!!..lol will post a few pics after I drop Jake off from lunch.

OK well i better get the laundry going!! Hope you all are enjoying the day...

Linda Kay are you home yet?

Oh so smiling Debbie..."release"?? Something we both like..ooohhhh, if i guess will ya tell me? lol I'm kind of thinking a book...A new angel book perhaps????

oh, oh time for lunch pick up!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all..

Cold out there..just below 50

Sitting quietly, hand sewing the binding on Darlene's quilt..she will take it home tomorrow after painting. It's a Christmas gift but she said it would give her solace over the next few months and besides she doesn't want to think about Christmas..won't go there yet so home it will go.

As you can see, movie playing, hand sewing..another hard day at the office
