Brrrrr, not sure about you all but it's rather chilly here..have fireplace on but almost tempted to put furnace on.
Want to get ambitious but thought a hot bath/nighty and a quiet night might be in order. Now where is that rag quilt?
Just going to have my bath when there was a knock at the r..little visitor from up the street..Noah who did garden work then didn't come back, well he says..'I'm kind of embarrassed, I know I let you down, I was bad, got grounded, had to go to my grandma's in another town but I'm a good worker andcan start working again'. Told him to come Saturday morning and I would have a few things he could do! Lol
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends
"a few"?!?!?! LOL Betty - you could keep that lad busy for the next 2 years, on weekends and most week nights!!
If not raking, then shovelling, or other yard work lol
Awe Betty - That took a lot of courage for the kid to do / say that.... You're sweet for giving him another chance!
Susan be careful!
Debbie -i've literally never been in a 3 1/2 story house before ! Grandpa's was a 2 1/2 story... full size attic....
Hubs and I had Model A Club meeting tonight. I'm gradually getting to know the members... Primarily talked to one lady tonight.... She is 86, looks great and still works maintaining quite a large amount of rental property !
Can't imagine how wealthy she must be yet she ordered a water for dinner because she couldn't believe "They charge $2 for a drink at most restaurants nowadays !"
What a wonderful character. She started to tell me how she fixes garbage disposals. (This will be our Betty in 20 years!)
Hugs,
Mary
I agree Mary, it took a lot for him to come back and say he messed up!
I try to be careful, Mary. Today I was over at someone's yard pruning her Nanking Cherry bushes.
Boy did that wind Kick Up! Seems the windy season has hit Again!!
Wow Susan... we just don't have winds like that (unless a hurricane!) LOl...
LK - are you settling back in from your visit !? Guess you'll be calling the DGK's now and talking to them on the phone...
Betty - is Noah a common name in your parts? Just a coincidence I suppose... When is the Grandson's weekend shaping up to be ?
HUGS
Mary
yes Mary - the winds regularly get 90 to 120 km/hr - about 60 to 75 mi/hr
Of course we get higher, but that's a good stiff wind! Not the kind I want to be on top of a roof in!!
Morning all..
Happy Birthday Marion..may your day be filled with sunshine! Few pressies wouldnt hurt either..
As with all, thoughts will go ack in time, the event forever ingrained in our minds, the senseless loss of so many lives..prayers for all..
Had a lazy night last night, couldn't believe how tired I was. Rather than sleep on the couch I decided to head right to bed..something for a headache and sleep I did.
Mary, your little old gal sounds lovely, did she come in a Model A?? How often are your meetings..guess you got to tell them that your motor is now in for repairs.what a day it will be when you get to drive it. Noah is a very common name around here, think there are three on this street alone. I take the boys on our trip not this weekend but. He next!
Talk about cool night air..have the window open and brrrr, almost time to get the long johns out..great for sleeping but you dont want out of bed in the morning.
I'd better get at it as I want to pack up a project to take to work today
Gab later
Susan, I also did not know you had such high winds.
Glad LindaKay is ontop of the baking..mouth watering here!
LindaKay, meant to ask this morning if you've any news of your dad??
He is waiting to have an angiogram done. It is a test, where they insert a tube with a camera down his leg, to see where the veins are blocked. My Sister called yesterday to say that won't happen till the first of October, so I guess it is not an urgent problem, but we are all anxious to see what is going to happen!
I bet you are..lordy you are starting to be like Canada, that's a long way for an appointment.
Got myself organized here at the office..got a cutting board/iron &ironing board, sewing machine and fabric all set out in the secondary meeting room..here's hoping if I spend the next 3 days here at work working on the memory quilt, basic crazy quilt pattern that it will be ready for Darlene for what would have been Mike's birthday on Monday..sure going to try anyway as I know it will be difficult and she'd appreciate it..something to comfort her
Off sewing..pray clients don't call lol
Morning everyone! Just a quick note to let you know I am in the land of the living. Difficult times this last while but trying hard to look for the positives. Dentist visit yesterday had my original work postponed and some emergency work done including the extraction of a tooth. Do you know how hard it is NOT to spit, rinse or blow your nose for 24 hours? I thought it would be a piece of cake but it wasn't. My sinus decided to run with wild abandon.
Hope everyone is enjoying their fall days. I'll be back to catch up. The last time I said that last Sat. our power and phone went out - lightning hit a cottage across the lake and we didn't get either back until the early hours of Monday. Hoping that won't happen again.
Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today. ladies!
Dianne
Thanks for the cake and birthday greetings. It is rather hard to get excited about today when I think of all the sadness that has happened since 2001. Going for a low key night with Kim (DD) and veggie pizza is what I am wanting.
Happy Birthday Marion,
Off and running. Doctor visit for 10:45 but wanted to say good morning.
Mary, I am confused how many stories we have.....full basement, full 1st & 2nd, and full attic. Ok, the house is huge but put together so the rooms
are small and there is no room to have big furniture or anything. I hate not being able to re-arrange furniture and make changes.
Ok, I am out of here.
Marion have a beautiful day!
Debbie
(((Marion))) Happy Birthday Sistah!!! Your Chocolate Kahlua Cake is in the oven..smells wonderful. I thought I'd put a little sign by the cake that said "Chocolate Kahlua Cake"
Warning: Alcohol!! That should do the trick!
It's a beautiful morning here. Cool and sunny. Had my walk and 3 cups of java. Now I'm about to go weed!
Waving to all!
So happy to see you post Dianne, have kept you in my prayers. I can't imagine the pain you must be going through, tooth extraction, yikes, soup and liquids for you my girl..think it was asked up in the thread if you were up to doing Santa Warren's Christmas Swap..know it's early stages but Christmas comes quickly and many of us like making gifts..think about it and we'll set it up late October if it's a go..hope it is because we had a wonderful time celebrating our friendships last year!
Know it's hard to celebrate Marion knowing how many were affected by the attack on home soil but it is a special day, it's your birthday and should be celebrated as such..hope you enjoy your special dinner tonight.
Debbie, do you like the neighborhood and neighbors in your community? would you ever consider knocking down some walls and making rooms larger..know the distance you have to travel to everything is one of the reasons you were considering the move..lordy that is indeed a big house..please let us know what the doctor has to say as soon as you get back..we'll all be waiting
Good ides about the sign. Eat some for me, please as all I got of the other one was the batter I couldn't scrape out of the bowl. Of course, it was for a birthday gift.
In the mid 60s here, beautiful outside with a pleasant chill in the air. Wish I could spend the day working outside but alas the inside is calling my name. Will be leaving Thursday morning so need to have a couple of things finished before then...especially the laundry.
You are one energetic lady Joyce..
Bet there won't be a crumb left of that cake.
Haven't walked the gardens since last week, see a bunch of roses in bloom, should go cut a few and a bouquet of flowers for my table before they are finished..don't know about you but I hate cutting flowers for inside.
Oooooohhhh that means I get to have 2 pieces, one for you, and one for me!
I'm the same way....should bring some in, but would rather enjoy them outside.
Guess it depends on your Mom's health Marion as to how long you will be gone...summer will all but be over by the time you return. Here's hoping your mom is not in pain..
Maybe I'll just snip the tall yellow daisy like flowers that grow against the back fencing..not sure what they are called but the stand upright on their own, multiply like crazy and bloom in the fall..they are now close to 10 ft. I'm sure.. I keep mowing them down except for the the fencing..promise myself that comes spring I'll try and plant along the back property line..was going to do it last year but then Darlene said it might stop wind circulation so didn't
Betty, I have to be back by the 3rd of October as I have a doctor's appointment. As far as I know (sister updates me daily) Mom is not in pain now that the antibiotic has been started for this last UTI. However according to the doctor, this one is pretty bad. They will never be cleared completely due to her inactivity but atleast she can be made comfortable.
For the most part, I will also be some company for my sister. I will just have to remind her kitties that when I crochet at night, the ball of yarn is NOT for them!!!! :-)
Have a safe trip Marion, and give your Mom gentle hugs from us please?
Jean, that brought chill bumps to me. I am proud but I also can't forget the horrible image we all saw on that day. It will be a beautiful day.......low temps, low humidity and my health and all my friends on the internet. What more can a person wish for? Well one more thing but I also realize that can't be either. Atleast I feel him here with me every time I see our children and granddaughters.
Oh Betty, Santa Warren would be devastated if we did not go ahead with the Christmas Exchange. You all have no idea how much happiness it gave him. And he was just so humbled and shocked that he too Santa Warren got some gifts - loved that chocolate! warmth and laughter. We will have to talk about timing.
Marion, after my dad passed, My Mom and I were talking and she said that she was going to be fine, as she had my dad and all those she loved who has passed behind her to help hold her up and her children, grandchildren and great good friends to draw her forward, and with each step, her Lord beside her to guide those steps....so she would be fine, surrounded by those she loved, forever.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARION!! Safe travels.
Jean, that was lovely!!! again you know just what to post.
Judy/Judy/Judy, you must be on your tablet, no long post????
I can say on behalf of all, we sure did enjoy Santa Warren's swap..it will be a yearly event as long as I'm on this thread...I for one was thrilled with my gift from Shirley..part of Tubby and Shirley will be displayed yearly for all to ohhh and ahhh..best part of my christmas festivities was this sharing of friends
Happy Birthday, Marion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dianne - I couldn't imagine not being able to do that for 24 hours!! No blowing of nose, rinse or spitting?
Glad to hear you're doing the Santa Warren Christmas exchange. Don't think I can do it, but will applaud on the sidelines :-)
Jean - your mom is a wise woman, and obviously has the "right kind" of faith. She Knows she has many Guardian Angels watching over her and the family.
Dianne, so glad you are going to continue the tradition of this Christmas swap for Santa Warren! ^_^
Sure hope your mouth is feeling better soon!
Jean, now I am crying and have chill bumps. Thanks, I loved it.
You are most welcome Marion...please do have a blessed happy day.
Hi Judy....making BIG waves to ya. GRIN
Dianne, lovely to see you. So sorry about all the dental work and discomfort you are having. Isn't that always the case? No problems until someone says "You Can't Do...." then that becomes the thing you want to do the most. Hope you feel tip top really soon.
Good thoughts to you all
Jean
Jean - chills......... thank you for the video
That was my Moms song, we had it at the funeral and also sang at church. She has a bear that you would press paw and play that song...it gave us all strength.
Doctor has no idea. Urine test was clear but sent for a culture. Did blood work to make sure meds are not causing issues. Gave me pain meds which I doubt will take except at bedtime or I will sleep 24/7 and not do anything.
On a happier note...

Great song, Jean
Enjoyed both songs Jean ..you know me and Elvis.
Oh Debbie, that wasn't much help was it!!!! Nothing worse than being ill, knowing you are ill and nothing can be found. Let's hope the meds aren't strong enough to put you out...do you have a high tolerance for meds?
