Trying so very hard to stay up evenings so I can sleep during the night..got another tote bag finished so that's a plus.. saw some embellishments for them at Joann's last visit so hoping to pick some up on my next visit..that is 2 done this weekend alongs with the kitchen piece
Am hoping there are enough matching scraps to make wallets to go with each tote
Calling it a night..
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends
Those are beautiful!!!
ok - you'll never Guess what Bob & I bought today....... I felt that God called me to do it......
Wait for it......... lol
Hello To All ;
(HUGS) Betty... I was just going to say... ask Cathy to dinner out.... and then have a heart to heart with her...can't go wrong with that...
Susan... Let's just all try to win the HG TV Dream home ! LOL. Can't wait for the surprise !
LK - Safe travels home ! Can't wait to hear stories of the DGK's !
Oh Marion... I would have never thought we'd have traveled so far ... to Apalach... what a quaint beautiful little town. Some of the decor was reminiscent of New Orleans/Natchitoches so drew me to research Florida's and US's oldest cities !
Did you know that the U.S.'s OLDEST city is in Florida? St. Augustine ! Wow....
Joyce... I do think you are the Mom to Kitties now !
Betty - we brought the engine to Florida... not the body... Hubs seems to be a bit disappointed in how much work needs to be done but what else would one have thought? This is a 1929 vehicle...stored for so many years.... trying to keep him excited about it... ( not much to try.... it's almost all he can think of !)
Hugs,
Mary
Well Mary - you're close........... we bought a Motor Home! It's a used one, previously owned by a couple in our church. She passed away this Spring, and he doesn't want to go camping anymore. We're friends - he's in the choir, too, and I really felt called to buy this Motor Home. It's very inexpensive, and he'll take payments. We just have to arrange for our free parking in the compound at our Mobile Home Park, and get a key lol Then of course the insurance and to be
safe-tied again. Every time a vehicle changes owners, you have to re-safety it.
I'm Thrilled!! It won't cost anymore to get a camping spot, because we always get Power/Water spots, so that's kewl!
Morning all, everything feels damp this morning..weather is heavy, still more rain to come, if not today then tomorrow.
Susan now that is the best news yet, you were due to have some sunshine enter your life. With not working you will be able to do weekend camping as you please without having to pack up the truck and sleep on the ground. Hurrah..now for certification and you'll be singing 'on the road again'
Mary, did I say body?? Oops did mean engine...yes, I imagine it would be big buks to restore..now what got Lance on board, was it the group you've been meeting with? I love St. Augustine, been there about a dozen times, disappointed in the fountain of youth found there, didn't work!! When you are down on the water it's very much like Vieux Carre in New Orleans..horse drawn buggy..I especially like the Fort made of shells..what an endeavor building that.
Jean, the clean-up done at your place/greenhouse replaced?? Guess that could only happen if you've had sunshine.
Called all the boys last night re their 1st day in school, gabbed with ex-daughter in law, she is a teacher, said her first day was horrendous, all computers down' flooding, record rain fall..as for the boys got a lot of awesomes. We discussed our proposed trip to Darrien Lake, this weekend is a no go (soccer tournament) the
15 th a no go, park not open ??? So the 22nd it is..should it rain then the 29th..that is my Meaford Applefest, would have to miss it..if rain on both weekends then I'll book Great Wolf Lodge..come hell or high water we'll our weekend away.
Looking at the clock, time to get a move on
Betty, I just remembered something. End of Sept. & into October, Darien Lake goes into "Fright Fest" and Halloween fun.
The kids usually love it. Areas geared to the ages also. http://godarienlake.com/family-frightfest/
Hi All!
Quick note to say I'm alive but busy busy busy. Cleaning out inside, auction has been over but trying to go through sheds and house to clean out and pack what I want to take. It could drive you crazy. My DD came out a couple of weeks ago and helped was good. She gave me 30sec. to make up mind if keep or rid. Lots of laughs but got alot done. Plan on leaving here around the 6th of Oct. Plan on 2 26' Uhauls. It'll be interesting. Will meet with Attorney this afternoon on the sale of place.
Well, enough about me hope everythings okay for all of you. Haven't had time to read the thread and catch up on everyone, but maybe after I get settled I can play catch up. Wishing you all well and talk to you down the road. Love to all and have a great week. God Bless You All!
Shirley
Just thrilled to see you post Shirley, can't wait for you to be settled so you once can join in the chatter..
Have you sold??? What a tremendous amount of work..your daughter is right not giving you time to think things out as to 'keep/not keep'. Anxious to hear about your new accommodations..you just made my day knowing you are ok..think as the others do about you often!!!
Debbie, going to check out the links..just spoke to Jeff, he was saying there is an indoor water park in Niagara falls as well and that the boys might like it should it be a rain day on the 22nd.
Know the boys if we are at Darien Lake will want to go both Sat. and the Sun. but that means entry for part days as the park is not open the entire day. Looking forward to it. Not sure that 4 almost grown boys will fit in my Sonic, if not, I'll take Jeff's truck and leave him my car when we meet in NewMarket so I can get his boys..
Looked at my calendar, yikes busy almost every weekend until I leave for Florida Dec.20th.
One good thing it will keep me out of mischief!
Debbie, just checked the site..omg they would indeed have loads of fun!!!!
Now if only the weather can co-operate
oh - good thing you'll be kept out of mischief, Betty LOL
Shirley!! Think of you often, and now I have another hibiscus to remind me of you! Good for you, to have sold the place! Leaving on Oct 20th - so when do you expect to arrive?
Must be going - have to meet friends to go to an off-site church service at an "assisted living" home.......
Hmmm went back and read, wasn't sure if Shirley meant she was listing and having attorney look after it or sold it..wouldn't it be nice if it was sold, one less problem to worry about!!
Susan you are sure keeping busy..now when do you get the rv..can see you having it in the yard for a few days making drapes/cushions and matching bedding..
Hey Shirley, so nice to see you pop in! You have been busy, and sounds like lots of work to still be done!
lol Betty - no room in the "yard" for the RV which is 20ft long and 9ft wide. We'd have to tear down our deck to fit it in. We'll just have to park it in front, on the street (we have no sidewalks here) and load it there. Most of the upholstery is original, and in good shape. I will have to change the armrest's material in the cab. It's leather and cracked a bit, but that's natural, of course.
Bob's home today, still working on the roof. He found some nasty bugs under the main board - there were cocoons, worms, 3 other kinds of bugs, etc......... some of them had eaten through the wood and left trails. Bob tore up all the affected/infested wood and is putting completely new wood in the area.
What health issues you would have if you didn't repair it..thankfully it's getting done..did he and his boss work on it last night?
Just went down to a new sewing shop downtown..I called to ask if they had a Kaleidescope Mirror for quilting, yes they did, drove down, nope, says they must have sold it. Called her distributor while we were there, didn't send out her order until 4pm so will include one with hers..I paid for it so that it will come in and she'll not sell it before I pick it up..what a gorgeous store, machines to die for.. one that has an 11" throat..hm wonder if I've been good enough for Santa to bring me one.
The template set I ordered Sunday was $32.98+ tax, with shipping/tax the one I ordered was a few $$$ more and I have to wait for shipping. What I shall do next time I need something/see something is check with them first.
I thought of Barb with her block of the month..tomorrow they start 'journey home' block of the month..didn't have time to check it out so will have to make another trip, maybe Saturday morning so I have time to check out everything...could be dangerous Fabrics are still between $16.98-$22.98 with their store program of 15% off..great to purchase specialty items but not for everyday shopping, Joanns still best bargain even considering hotel room/food and gas.
The piece I finished with the teacups they had hanging, rather than my border they had added basically same coloring of fabric but done in different blocks..liked it..had I seen it before I did mine likely I would have done it like theirs
Decided to come in tomorrow and bring some sewing
Ahhh what sweeties..bet grandma played dress-up as well. Dylan is a big boy, what a healthy looking little one, love the drool
HI Everyone, Recovery continues. Not fast enough for me. When I'm not in pain I know that means I should be exercising. Had a very weird parking experience the other day. Long story so maybe I'll get back to it later. Basically, I was accussed of damaging another person's car when I knew I hadn't. Upsetting but ultimeately funny. Remind me of Geico story when I'm better.
I'm not as foggy in the head now guess the anesthetics finally wore off.
I'm in a grmpy "don't wanna do nothing" kind of mood. Yesterday I made radish, onion and pepper flowers and they've been soaking in ice water. I will go to the hospital where I had the surgery and take them several "bouquets." My way of deciding to have a good day no matter what my mind says.
How's crissy?
Diane, you have been so much help to me. Did you fall agin? Bad girl. I've not been able to follow everything here. Thinking of Diane as I work to get back the function in my knee. Remember "anything you can do, I can do better" from Annie Get your Gun?
I have knee class tomorrow. I think Ii'll havve enough veggie flowers left over to take some in.
Wish I could send bouquets to all of you.
hug hugs, katie
Oh he drools so much, as he is trying to cut some teeth through! Yep, Grandma played dress up too, she brushed my hair, and put all kinds of make-up on me! I really enjoyed my visit with them!
Hey Katie, glad to hear your still mending well!
Those veggie flowers sound nice, I know the staff will enjoy them!
Good for you, Katie, to know that healing does hurt some, and it's to be embraced by doing exercise!
No Betty - his boss didn't show up. He took the day off and suggested Bob do the same. Larry was working on his boat, and because he gave Bob the day off I suspect he figured he could do the job on his own. He's given Bob the day off today, too....... Bob's really trying to get it done (further repairs on the roof, so it's going slowly) and needs to replace some more trusses etc. More area to be replaced than we originally thought, on the roof.
He will Definitely be back to work tomorrow. We can't afford for both of us to not be earning, and spending $$ on materials. Still waiting for my bonus cheque.....
Hello to all !
Susan - Hurrah for the camper ! Is it the same or like the one you had borrowed before?
Betty - yes I think the group gave hubs a kick start... I haven't been to St. Aug in years... would love to go back. Wonderful trip with the boys sounds like... tall as Kyle is...you may need an SUV ! Remember they can help you drive now. (or is that a good thing?)
Shirley! ((HUGS)) So glad to "see" you ! Love the "30 second rule" might have to borrow that idea from your daughter.
LK - precious pics.. they are so happy....
Katie glad for the report... I wish I could see those veggie "flowers"... might like to try that...
Hugs All
Mary
Evening all..
Katie, wonderful that you are doing so well, likely you are in a funk because you are homesick and anxious to travel home...have you been speaking with Tony, bet he said everything was going well and to not rush home until you are certain you are well healed. I'd also live to see photo of the veggies..florist in Barrie sells bouquets and is quite successful.
Mary, can see both you and Lance joining in all the antique car gatherings. How's the witch been behaving..your ears must have been burning, both Suzanne and I talked about the trip..think rather than going somewhere else next year she would live to go back and see more of the area..just got over this years trip and she is already thinking next year lol. As for the grandsons, sure notice the difference this past year, not kids but me now and still growing
Been wondering how Suse is?? Been awhile since she dropped in with a hi
And Crissy, worry about that girl..would be nice knowing she is ok..worrywart right.
Don't think dg friends know how missed they are when they do not post and how it makes someone's day to see a post from them
Received in the mail today a condolence card from the vet's office that all the staff had signed..nice of them, just made me sad though. missy doesn't seem to be adjusting, her temperament has changed..not happy with me..
Trying to decide if I should take a painkiller tonight..not sure if it's the dampness or just old bones that is giving me grief.

Crissy is OK. Getting settled in life. Got a note from her yesterday.
It's good to know. Tks
Thanks Deb - glad to know Crissy is okay...
How is Debbie doing?
Love that Betty on the words... need to save that.
Witchy poo did give me a few choice words yesterday. I brought it upon myself though for being late on Monday. I was JUST SO exhausted from the trip and particularly the ride home. What should have been a 6 hour drive was more like 9 but very stressful.
My air conditioning on my Tahoe has gone out so I may have to take Friday off and get it fixed. They need it a full day.
Can't function with no AC in Louisiana especially working out of my vehicle.
OH Betty - if my ears were burning and ya'll were talking about another visit this way then I am SO Excited ! So much we can do ! Would even be nicer if ya'll could come this way and visit at my house... April and October are the best weather months in Louisiana (I HAVE told you that before - let me go on record as saying!) ROFLOL!
Hugs,
Mary
I had a stomach bug today. Don't know what set it off. Not much else really going on. Oldest started back to college yesterday, two days a week...5 classes each
of those days! YIKES. Shannon "the child" also started back yesterday but most of hers are online.
Hubby is taking my van in for service again tomorrow...it is still dying. I need to hit the lotto. Would be happy with a "gently used" car.
It has 200,000 almost and now dies every time I come to a stop or slow in an intersection. HOpe some answers tomorrow. (cheap ones).
Going to turn in shortly. AC is on up there and calling my name!
Debbie - nasty tummy bugs! Thanks for letting us know about Crissy - worry about that gal! Tell her I said "Hey!"
Mary - Camper is same year as the one I borrowed before, but nicer - better kept up. Thing is, the one I borrowed was lent to other family members, and some didn't take care of it - very run down, motor going, screens shot, door broken, awning doesn't work properly etc etc etc......... This fellow we're buying from has always kept it in good condition. If it needed repairs, he did it. Never let it go....
Mary - witchy poo and you have quite the "history" lol
Morning, Lordy it seems to take forever for sunrise especially when the sky is so heavy.
Debbie, do you think your tummy upset is do to stress, the worry about the 'child' and Shane?? Know how much you depend on your own wheels, let's just hope it's a minor fix. Bet it's a nice feeling to have the girls back in school trying to upgrade their skills..
Mary, August wouldn't be my choice visiting your area again but it's when Paul does office closure..christmas and August..wasn't terribly unbearable especially as our weather was experiencing high temps/humidity as well. If witchypoo was uptight about you arriving late on Monday how will she react to your needing Friday off? Could you rent a car for the day to avoid another confrontation..might be easier on the nerves.
Drats and more drats lol
Sent Paul an email asking if there was a problem working from home today as well my regular work from home Friday about an hour before office closed yesterday.
I transferred phones to my house so that if he e-mailed saying ok all would be well...know I have my link up and running on laptop that I use for work but didn't even think it doesn't work on downstairs computer nor my ipad..checked as I was walking out the door, no response so left and here I am only to find out minutes after 4:30 yesterday he responded with 'yes, no problem working from home' again, drats and more drats...on the good side, brought my cutting board, iron, fabrics and supplies to cut out 2 wallets to go with the tote bags..lots of cutting so that should keep me busy for an hour or so..should have brought my small sewing machine as well
Your energy amazes me.
I don't know what tummy upset is about, but today it is very sore to even touch. Will eat a bland diet today and calm it down.
Nerves, me? Stress? Why whatever are you talking about? LOL Could be part of it along with the dog who has been horrible.
Be back in a bit, have to do the morning meds and get toast.
Debbie
oohhh chocolate cake for Barb's birthday...singing the birthday song Barb and trust me, be glad it is not in person!! Lol. Here is hoping you have a sunshine day and that it involves a trip to your favorite fabric store.Ask Norm to give you a special hug for me please..
This morning in packing up my goodies I remembered my gift from July at Christmas..the carry cutting board and ironing pad, gee it's working like a charm.
Debbie, omg. How can you ask re stress, I don't know how you cope from day to day..amazing lady you are...what has Izzy gotten into now??
Jean, are you back into normal weather conditions and gardens ok?
Happy Birthday Barb....I agree, a trip to your favorite fabric/quilting shop is in order.
Betty, do you remember what the tape cassettes look like befor CDs came along? Well..."that dog" ate....and swallowed....about 1/2 mile of tape from the cassette.
Didn't brake the case...just that tongue licking it...and pulling it into her mouth. I found this out when she vomited a pile of tape in the back yard!!!
She still has something in there (from before the tape) as she is getting us up all hours of the night.
Van is in the shop....first estimate $400. Not happening. Of course DH can "do it himself"...which he usually can....but they think there is more damage from this part being bad and won't know til it is replaced.
Yes, we are pretty much back to normal here...there are still some folks dealing with flood waters however. Our temps have been in low 90's (mid to low 30C) so with the humidity has been indexing in the low 100s....doesn't take long to make ya wanna go inside. I think the weeds hitched a ride on the wind as there are bunches sprouting everywhere....Gardening has been challenging this year....grin
What is wrong with Izzy, you would think being sick all the time would be enough to shy away from such antics..just what you need, more vet bills..thinking of how Missy is treating me with a nasty attitude at times, maybe Izzy is angry with you for something..any new addition to your pet household ??
That is the thing when you have a vehicle with so many miles, if one thing goes often it's another and another and you have to weigh the worth of keeping or getting another vehicle. Now if the child was at home you could share costs of her new vehicle and use it..would help you both..you have too many things to care for and cannot be without a vehicle..
Jean still high temps/humidity! When do you normally get a reprieve and have bearable temps. Even in my neck of the woods humidity has been high, poor dehumidifier working double time. I'm with you, it has been a real challenge re the gardens..can always hope for next year
Betty, Izzy actually has an eating/psychological disorder. Was diagnosed when she was a puppy. Yes, stress can make it worse...just like with people. No new animals in the house in over two years now (except the rabbit). Vet ran all kinds of tests to make sure not medical (anemia/hookworms).
