What a sweet reunion for just a short time. Wish I were traveling with them, I know they are going to have the best time!! They are seeing Carrie Underwood tonight. I guess I hadn't read that before. Both girls were in fine form, and my Dad thought so, too....LOL....you'll have to ask Betty about that one!

Photographers are here off and on until 3:00 pm. So far I've had 3. Hopefully they'll share some of their shots with me.

Lucky you Joyce!

Mary, my daughter loves McGuires!!! She keeps saying we are going to take a "road trip" just to go eat there sometimes. So far, no go! Of course her teaching a full day and being a student working on an advanced degree might have something to do with our timing. Think?

Betty, you would just think those Canadians would just stay home, now wouldn't you? ROFLOL!!!! B safe and keep us all updated.

Oh Joyce, was Dad hitting on Betty & Susan? Bet that was priceless.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Debbie, Betty told Dad to let her know the wedding date, cause she sure didn't want to miss it! She's been looking for someone in the USA to marry so she could come here to live! LOL

ROFL, makes sure I get an invite! I can just see the both of them doing this. Big smiles!

Evening all from Nashville Tennessee, Grand Ole Opry..talk about a madhouse..you cannot drive anywhere, traffic just stopped. We went and picked our tickets that we had prepaid, that was easy but the crowds, yuk!!

We will be picked up at 8pm for a 9:30 show..think Debbie when we went we did the same...

Got special hug from Joyce and a second one from her that all of you sent..ribs are sore. Made good time, went to Mammoth Caves..need an entire day to do all the tours, especially Ice Niagara tour, we vowed we will come back and do them..most tours were already booked so we did self guided tour of just one small component cave..about 1 1/2 hours. just as we went down into the cave it started to thunder and rain, by the time we came out it was clearing.

We were going to go to the Greek "Parthenon" this afternoon in downtown Nashville but decided to put it on the list for tomorrow.

First may I say that Joyce's gardens are spectacular..talk about garden and waterfall envy, beyond words. Now I'm really really going to have to work to upgrade mine, got lots of ideas...

Omg, double omg Joyce's dad is a card, character for sure..know where Joyce get's her good nature and sunshine disposition.

When I hugged him I explained in order to get my dual citizenship I needed a hubby and so Joyce said I could be her step-mother..he laughed..Joyce told him that being married to be entitled him to give me a pat on the behind, he said not one, there would be many..it was so funny!! Then came the kicker..sooo guess its up to him to set the date...can't believe he's 94

I was wearing my black and hot pink outfit, big flowers virtually across the chest...he says to me, " love those flowers" as he cupped both hands and moved them as though he'd touch them..it was too funny! I got such a kick out of him...

Now I was thrilled to hear that Joyce is thinking of coming to visit in the fall..really doing happy dance that she will

Well, best I finish getting ready for Carrie Underwood..so humid hardly worth doing my hair but guess I'd better, never know when one might pick up a cowboy..maybe Little Jimmy Dickens...nooo there is a great looking cowboy singing tonight..maybe I'll wear another flowered top..never know when he might want to touch the flowers. Lol

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, better get me a picture of that great looking cowboy!!!

Bucky Covington, who was one of the Idol guys and did well, and Andy Gibson I think his name is the other one. Neither one too shabby looking!!

Oh Betty and I already did damage in Nashville 3 years ago! LOL They keep letting her back in!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol. Got lots of photo's..next purchase will be a good camera. talk about hot and humid

Just got in, imagine..

did the Opry, fantastic then just down the street was the 2nd longest radio station, believe on air for something like 64 years..called Ernest Tubb midnight jamboree and the name tells it all..started at  midnight ..Opry singers drop in, music was outstanding..just going to bed ow, oops look at the time.

Tomorrow morning at 10am I'm hoping to attend at same location a church service. Johnny Cash's sister will be singing..then downtown we go to do music row, the Parthenon, etc then an early night as we will leave early Monday for Memphis.

Omg met this artist that wrote songs for all famous singers..asked where I was from, told me to get 50 people at $20 which would cover he and his wife's gas and he'd come up for a week...lol. Leave it to me to invite a band. -too funny

So here we sit, didn't have supper, sitting on he bed with salsa and tortilla chips

I jokingly said I scheduled 5 hrs a day for sleep but won't get tha much today

Oh what a wonderful time you two are having....I'm not ashamed to say that I'm so jealous!!!

Guess those cowboys have poor eyesight since both of you came back to the hotel alone!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all..soon time to et it, already sunshine beaming in hotel window..

Joyce, if you want to talk envy lets talk gardens!!! Lol. Maybe I should be home concentrating on mine...

But for now it's downtown Nashville for the day..

Guess Katie is driving state side worrying about what is to come of her over next few months..LindaKay is riding her new wheels somewhere..Mary is talking over memories with family in Florida, Barb is either off to her quilt show or is enjoying yesterday's purchases..Andy is off biking..hmmm mind went blank??

I'm telling you all what I'm up to now I want to hear how your day is going??

Worried about our Suse..been some time since she has posted..and Liz, doing what the doc suggested??

Best I get a move on

Waving to all (lurkers included)

I am roasting here at home. Yesterday we made it to 100 with the heat index, today, more of the same but possibly with rain. It tried to rain yesterday but I think it evaporated before hitting the ground.

Wanted to go to the 4-H fair this weekend, but definitely too hot. I would be hosing down the poor animals...to dang hot for them to be on display like that. Would like to get the fresh taffy sticks they make or such...just what my jaw...and my butt don't need!! Love looking at the craft and sewing displays also....and DH likes the tractors.

Other than that....probably staying here

Enjoy and travel safely.

Suzanne is a slow poke. Lol

I'm dressed and ready, I'm a 2 second 'get ready king of gal'

Debbie, likely not much fun if there is no air to breath..love fairs..saw a lot of major fairs set up driving down..is it State Fair time??

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

It is in Ohio. Plus lots of county fairs going on now, too. We're having a nice rain. Radar looks like it might be almost over, but we got a nice shower for sure. Only 70.5 right now. We'll take it. Yesterday it was 93 with a heat index of 122. Good thing there was a breeze!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, this is a county fair. I think State fair is the last held and possibly Labor Day weekend it ends.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning all. Our county fairs go through Oct 12 - Columbus Day. There is one every weekend somewhere in the state from Aug 1. They really are fun to go to. Norm is off to a horse show today to watch Brandon. Not me this time - the humidity is up over 70 and I just can't handle that at all. We had some big thunder and lightening storms go through last night and like Debbie, our temps are down to high 70s. Big change from 101 yesterday!!!
Sounds like your trip is going well Betty. Last night sounded like a lot of fun......
I'm off to sew today. I am planning a new quilt and need to check out what fabrics I have that will work.....

Lyndonville, NY

Barb there are more storms on the way. We have storm warnings for this afternoon. Temps dropped, but dang the humidity is not pleasant. Thankfully there is a breeze...although going to turn to strong wind gusting 40 to 60 mph this afternoon they say.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm supposed to get that tonight Debbie. Hopefully it will pass during the night and be nice tomorrow!! I always watch the weather to see what Betty, Dianne, You, Thea and Mittsy are getting because it usually all comes to me eventually unless it goes north. It's like you guys are my weatherwomen!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Sounds like your having a great time Betty! Can't wait to see pictures! I thought your son gave you a nice digital camera? You need to start packing it!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll post of my Sunday, almost time to leave, would someone start us a new thread and I'll be back later???

I sent you an update yesterday, I thought I might repeat the process and let you know about our Sunday!    As a way of having some downtime I started to type last night  but then fell asleep.

Now up, getting ready to start another day..

With just a little less than 5 hrs sleep we were up and running by 9:30am this morning..after closing Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree we were back to do the Cowboys Church Service..to say we enjoyed would be an understatement..what talent!  The service was 1 1/2 hours in duration, MC was Dr.yates, wife Joanna Yates sang (Johnny Cash's younger sister). Not only did she resemble him but sang tunes where she sounded just like her hubby. Only about 80 in attendance, got to gab with her, have my photo taken with her then headed downtown Nashville making the Parthenon our next stop..as we left the service we were having a torrential rain, thankfully it stopped by the time we reached the Parthenon!

Who would ever guess that such a structure would be found in  the downtown area of Nashville..really impressed with their  grounds and the 'to' scale replica of an ancient Greek monument structure.  On the 2nd floor was Athena, 42' tall statue, exact replica as found in Greece.

Now that we praised the Lord, added some culture to our lives it was time to "be bad"

music row here we come..entertainment in every establishment..up and coming talent some of which should be performing at the Opry..you would never know it was as hot as it was because everywhere we entered  had a/c on the coolest setting, at times I was cold.

What a day just sitting and listening to the music..

On one of our jaunts from bar to bar there was Tom Arnold (movie star) doing a take on the street, few people watching..it was a scorcher and he had the retake a few tapes because he couldn't get one of the words right, a girl kept dabbing makeup on him and wiping his forehead..

Suzanne offered him her hat, he said my head is too big, shaking his head, but grabbed it and put it on..I said 'if you want to talk big' kind of kibitzing around at my size..he started  to laugh, said I married bigger' and winked. (re Roseanne Barr). Some of you young ones won't even know her..had a comedy series on tv for forever..

So that was our Sunday..

Just getting ready to pack up and head to Memphis, lots planned for the day then a late night of Beale Street Blues..
