Well my baby girl starts her first job today!! So exciting.
Since it August first, going to tell you now...our first born is speading her wings!! She and David have decided to build a nest over in the apartment building around the corner, a five minute walk...and not too far from work. David just got a second job to help suplilment. Julia is also going back to school for a single class. We are all thrilled..
Meantime...Alissa has been searching doubletime for a job and a place to live. Its beena crazy lil path. She wasnt too happy with only 3 weeks notice...but Julia told her she has had what 3 Years to figure something out. So, I believe she will be moving to Aurora soon...
As for Jenny, She too will be moving. Where I dont know..buthave a feeling Breenie, Nick and she might beplanning on sharing an apt..all Iknow is Breenie has given jenny the its time to move speech.
Jake has been caught by dad with a big bottle of rum!! Good gosh, not a good talk...but had to happen!
In the meantime, We are racing against time to finish Huber.. and soo much yet to finish.
I want to thank you all for your wonderful supportaand compliments on the project...it has meant so much to both of us.
Well here is a picture od Julia and David...they are truely happy together. And he seems to be the answer to prayers. A really good guy..she said iM going to marry david!!
Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Come sit a bit n chat
Wow Judy - sure is a lot going on at your house!!!
Mine is quiet at the moment and I sure was ready for it. I have a bit of new found energy and I have torn the sewing room apart. Big project for me who hasn't done anything big in over a year!!! Great project to get me moving again.
Wishing you Godspeed on your journey Katie. I'm sure you will do just fine and I'm keeping you in my prayers for an easy and successful surgery.
Betty, please take care on your trip. Have a wonderful time. Check in when you can please to let us know you are all okay.
Waving to all as I head back to the mess I created in the sewing room. Have a fun day~~~~~~~~
the scorpiion bit is all gone. I was lucky. They like dark place and are rarely found out in the open. The few bites I've gotten have been from scorpions that were hidden. We often find them under boards, etc.
Tony discovered that my portable toilet has adjustable legs so he doesn't have to build a platform. One less job.
My brain is dead.
hugs, katie
Barb, taking my ipad with me so will be able to include you all in my travels..next best thing to coming with me right?? back seat is empty any of you want to come lol
Judy, omg talk about things happening in your household..tell the kids (Julia & David) I send congrats!!! Luckily they are moving close so you'll be able to walk over to make sure they are ok..love the photo...they both look happy!
Breenie might be moving as well..that leaves you with Jake, bet he's doing the happy dance thinking about the time it will just be the 3 of you. Oh/oh on the bottle..that age, was bound to happen lol
When are you hoping to have Huber on the market??
Katie, glad you aren't rushing things and waiting until Saturday to head out..you'll have your computer right to let us all know where you are and how you are doing. Give that Tony a hug for us, tell him we appreciate you've someone to keep an eye on you!
I'll give your sunshine a hug Judy when I drop in on Saturday morning.
Barb, don't you overdo..how wonderful that you are up to organizing..gives you a break from sewing.
Ann said to say hi, asked how you were doing while we played bingo last night..no we didn't win.
Darlene just called, wanted to know if I had a cat cage, thought maybe something was wrong with one of my kitties but nope..last night I told her I saw the prettiest kitty ever, fur almost a blue grey and big blue eyes..well this morning the kitty was looking for food on my back deck so they closed the door and kept it there..it has no front or back claws..the girls are doing watercolors at my place and all fell in love with the kitty..they will put it in a cage and go see if anyone has reported it missing, if they can't find the owner then Ann said she will take it home as it's very loveable.
Betty, if it is declawed....bet it is Microchipped. Should take to vet and see if they can scan chip. Could have escaped someone vacationing.
Never thought about microchip Debbie, will call the girls at the house..likely Darlene would think of it.
Riley's 2nd home humans must no longer be on vacation..now keeping close to home and wants loving lol
Maybe it followed Riley home
Good day Ladies and Gentleman...
Everyone is so busy. So much going on. Good thoughts for safe happy travel, Katie and Betty. Judy....WHOO-HOO! Glad to see some walking papers have been issued. Julia and David look so sweet and happy together. You won't know how to act having most of your house back...grin. Fingers crossed on Huber for ya. I know it will go quickly.
Dianne, nothing like a fur baby to get ya up and running.
GS is all registered for college...and he started his first ever real job this week....good kid...going to work at The Gap clothing store....now he can get the clothes he likes at a discount...whew!
Hope you all have a happy day.
Congrats to your grandson Jean, both for landing the job at the Gap and registering for College..you must be so proud of him! Will he be attending a school close to you?
What is the temps Jean??
Thanks Betty. He is going to our local community college for at least the first year. he hasn't figured out what he wants to major in yet and I see no sense in shelling out big bucks to LSU for him to figure that out. He worked really hard and got a TOPS academic award that will pay his tuition in full. Plus he got a federal Pell Grant to cover his fees and books and incidentals....good thing, his text books will run about $700 for this semester (some must be new, others can be used and a few can be rented for the semester). i am indeed proud of him....he is a good kid.
See if this link takes you to the New Orleans 5 day forecast
http://local.msn.com/weather.aspx?q=New%20Orleans-LA&zip=70116&eid=23139
that is quite an achievement for someone his age! To have funding for his education without it being a hardship on the family is something to be proud of. Books sure are expensive..you would think with all these tablets/readers that studying could be done in that fashion but we'd be putting someone out of work doing do..
off to check the weather..see you don't want to frighten me off lol
When he received his award and grant info he grinned at me and said "Well Grandma, looks like all your nagging about school work paid off. Thanks" didn't know whether to hug him or smack him...decide on a hug. GRIN He can get some of the texts in e-book form, but they cost almost as much. he seems to do better with the physical text...a hands on thing...grin
I think that link may update daily, so you can see what changes are ahead. Just think of it as a TROPICAL vacation without the sand....grin
THose mid 90's sound nice, a lot better than our 108 for the rest of the week!
Judy, sounds like everyone is busy getting jobs and moving! What will you do with an empty house? Now make sure that Jake stops drinking like that. Not a good habit to start!
Just got back from lunch, Suzanne is leaving for the vets..got to put her dog down..feel badly for her!
Jean, he's got a sense of humour! lol Nice that he appreciates your concern for him.Tropical vacation, yehhhhh
Jean - your GS sounds like he's really got his head on his shoulders, and you put it there! Good for you and him!!
Betty - your trip looks like it will be nice, with "only" 90F+ temp........ not the 100+F temp LK's getting.........
poor Suzanne - I'll bet she's devastated.......... I find myself looking for Baby, and not finding her, or thinking she'll meet me at the door after work. (who'd a'thought cats would do that)......... sad. Bob & I don't talk about her - he's not much of a talker when things are bothering him.
Dianne - new job's going fine, thank you for asking :-)
As for bike riding........ need Bob to drive me to a park in his truck, to do practicing, and he's been working after work at our friend's home repairing her roof. Last night we had hail - he knew it was coming so had quit Kay's home and was tying down his ladders when it HIT. He dove under the tailgate cuz it was coming down pretty good and hard...... I called Kay to see how he was and she told me he was "under the truck". He got home safely after it slowed up a bit and rained "only".
I may take my bike with me camping this weekend. I'll take the older, smaller, one cuz I don't want my "pretty" bike banging around in the truck bed. We don't have a bike rack yet.........
Nice LK, nice!!
Thanks Susan. Getting him to this point has been a long strange trip to say the least....grin When he graduated, his announcement cards all said WHOO-Hoo Generation 2.0 COMPLETE. We felt like it was a real accomplishment to get the second generation of kids off to college.
LK, love the truck. Looks almost like mine, only difference is the rear doors. On mine you have to open the front door in order to open the back doors. You are gonna love it as much as I love mine I am sure.
Ooooo A very nice truck!!! Love it...but white? We don't buy white up here...can't find it in a snow storm! Hahaha You won't have that problem.
Very nice truck, LK! Looks like a pretty deep truck bed - is that a cover on it?
I just spoke to Thunder and she said "Tell Betty I'm fine, and not to worry!"
Well, Corrie's on, so gonna go watch......
Yes, it is a teneau cover, it is metal, and lifts with hydraulics. Yeah, we chose white, because the had all the accessories on this one, and got it for a food price. Lots cools here in these hi temps. 105 this afternoon!
Evening all
Ohhh look at those new wheels, queen of the road you will be..bet hubby's beaming..yep, hard to find in a blizzard, that's ok, mine is hard to find in a pumpkin patch.. Was shopping tonight after I picked Kyle up, do you know they have Halloween stuff out..are they insane?
Susan, thanks for the news on Thunder..glad she's ok.. Happy to hear that work is going ok..hadn't heard you mention it and was afraid to ask. Glad everyone is safe..
Jean, mthank your grandson is quite a character..
Been making neck coolants since I got home..couldn't find the proper filler but bought something similar at Michaels..going to test one before I fill the other three..
Tired so off to bed
Gab in the am
Debbie how have you been feeling??
Yikes 105 ?? You'll have to ride around all day with a/c and tunes playing..lol
Great feature the hydraulics
You bought yours for same reason I bought mine..they gave me a good deal, bunch of extra features because if they had to bring (order) one in it would cost more
Night night
As we progress into 2012, I want to thank you for your educational e-mails
over the past year. I am totally screwed up now and have little chance of recovery.
I can no longer open a bathroom door without using a paper towel,
nor let the waitress put lemon slices in my ice water without worrying
about the bacteria on the lemon peel.
I can't sit down on a hotel bedspread because I can only imagine
what has happened on it since it was last washed.
I have trouble shaking hands with someone who has been driving
because the number one pastime while driving alone is picking one's nose.
Eating a little snack sends me on a guilt trip because I can only
imagine how many gallons of trans fats I have consumed over the years.
I can't touch any woman's handbag for fear she has placed it on
the floor of a public toilet.
I must send my special thanks for the email about rat poo
in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet sponge with
every envelope that needs sealing.
ALSO, now I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.
I can't have a drink in a bar because I fear I'll wake up in a bathtub
full of ice with my kidneys gone.
I can't eat at KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant
freaks with no eyes, feet or feathers.
I can't use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a
water buffalo on a hot day.
Thanks to you I have learned that my prayers only get answered
if I forward an e-mail to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.
Because of your concern , I no longer drink Coca Cola because
it can remove toilet stains.
I no longer buy fuel without taking someone along to watch the car,
so a serial killer doesn't crawl in my back seat when I'm filling up.
I no longer use Cling Wrap in the microwave because it causes
seven different types of cancer.
And thanks for letting me know I can't boil a cup of water
in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face, disfiguring
me for life.
I no longer go to the cinema because I could be pricked with a
needle infected with AIDS when I sit down.
I no longer go to shopping centers because someone will drug
me with a perfume sample and rob me..
And I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask
me to dial a number for which I will get a huge phone bill with calls to
Jamaica , Uganda , Singapore and Uzbekistan ..
Thanks to you I can't use anyone's toilet but mine because a
big black snake could be lurking under the seat and cause me instant
death when it bites my butt.
And thanks to your great advice I can't ever pick up a
dime coin dropped in the car park because it was probably placed
there by a sex molester waiting to grab me as I bend over.
I can't do any gardening because I'm afraid I'll get bitten by the
Violin Spider and my hand will fall off.
If you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in
the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhea will land
on your head at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon, and the
fleas from 120 camels will infest your back, causing you
to grow a hairy hump. I know this will occur because it
actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbour's
ex mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's best friend's
beautician!
Oh, and by the way...
A German scientist from Argentina , after a lengthy study,
has discovered that people with insufficient brain activity
read their e-mails with their hand on the mouse
Don't bother taking it off now, it's too late.
P. S. I now keep my toothbrush in the living room, because
I was told by e-mail that water splashes over 6 ft. out of the toilet..
NOW YOU HAVE YOURSELF A VERY GOOD DAY…
ROFLOL, well atleast we all have been forewarned about things now Betty. Funny with all the email "junk" I get, that has failed to come.
TOO Funny Betty !

I know you ladies will hold down the fort and have a grand time!
Mary - have a great time, and really, really enjoy!
Betty - soon, soon.............. you'll be tripping away to LA, and I'm sure you'll LOVE it, regardless of the weather!
Do go and see the famous cemeteries.......I wanna see pictures......
oh and Betty - close the toilet seat, silly girl (all the other warnings are TRUE........... I swear!! lol)
LK - of course the white vehicle is always cooler!
Morning all
Feels cool this morning but temps will rise..not sure if I should shut the a/c off and open windows??
Mary, you drive safe relax..nothing like having time on the beach, am sure the girls know better than to misbehave while at a family reunion..how many are expected to be there?
mary did we ever decide if we'd meet up Tuesday or Wednesday night..bringing my iPad so will contact you via this thread..would you dmail me your telephone # both at home and work so we can make contact. I'd give you the car telephone number but once she's parked in New Orleans doubt we will us it until ready to leave for next destination.
Susan will be sure to see a few graveyards and will have my camera with me.
did test run of the neck coolants..if I add another 1/2 tsp they will be perfect..will finish them and that will help cooling us down..Mary do you and Lance have neck coolants for working in the gardens??
Tomorrow I go to work for 1/2 day, will be my first Friday in ions that I go in, will save us 45 minutes when we leave
Off to feed the furries, water the hanging baskets
Gab when I get to work
For all of you who are traveling this weekend, I send prayers for safe journeys. So many places to go-wow!!!! Hope you all have fun and special prayers for Katie that things go well for you my dear.....
Me? I'm off to the sewing room - AGAIN - I'm still working on it!!!!!
Morning everyone! Everyone have fun and safe travels please?
How did you make out Barb at the doctor's???
Tony just explained that today is Thursday not Friday as I thought. One extra day. Yea. We are getting ready for my trip. Antonio and I will establish email contact so I can let them know things as I know them.
With my friend Steve off work and recovering from the heart attack he may want to come down here for a visit while I'm recuperating. No firm plans for anything except medicdal stuff at this point.
Will keep you all posted.
hugs, katie
All these lucky people traveling...be safe, Barb...sewing, have fun and me? Well I get to check into the hospital for a sleep study. Oodles of fun the thought of all the wires and someone watching while you sleep.....NOT!
I had my follow up appointment with the surgeon and I'm thrilled to report that the biopsy showed NO cancer. The gall bladder did need to be removed as it was not healthy. No more appointments with him. The pulmonologist says he doesn't want to see me for six months either!! He does want me to go back to pulmonary rehab for the maintenance program which I will do. So to all I can only say is how grateful I am for all your kind thoughts and prayers. I reallty do believe in them and I'm sure that made a difference for me. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart...
Now to sew again!!!!
Wonderful news all around, Barb. Continued good health to all of us. hugs, katie
And success for you as well Katie. You are in my prayers....
Oh Barb, what fantastic news..deep sigh of relief!!!
