Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, whichever it is I'm sure you are looking forward to the 19th..ahhh to be free again..do you think now that your breathing is somewhat better and once the gallbladder issue is looked after will you still have to use the air tanks??
so many questions..

Best thing you bought recently Judy is that tablet..will have to tell Kyle you are starting to be a pro on it lol

Nothing like seeing the before and after photo's..you did take one prior to starting your work did you not? ohh first bloom, lovely, no can help with naming it, you know me, not good with plant names.

Noah is excited..Kyle said he Noah texted him last night to find out my telephone number, said he had promised to touch base and hadn't yet so expecting a call tonight to catch up on all he's doing.

Jeff just e-mailed, he'll be dropping in for a few minutes on Saturday morning before his Kayak adenture starts. His boys are wayy wayyyyy north for the summer

Greg and Mel and the boys will be leaving in the Foxy Lady doing the Trent Waterway System , will be going up the hydraulic lift for those who have seen it so as a family we are all busy/busy!!! Not sure but think I possibly will be looking after the furries until I leave on the Friday..haven't asked, I'm just assuming!!! sometimes I assume correctly!

hmm Linda Kay, will have to write something up, I'm normally the 'joiner' and NOT the organizer lol

Here is my update on surgery: I got taken off the list to be scheduled for surgery!! I was also told that I need to see Dr. Powell (the surgeon) again before I can be put back on the list. The good news is that I finally got osme sleep last night and feel better this morning than I have in several weeks. I was able to stay calm in talking to the person to schedule another appointment to see the doctor. They don't have openings to schedule for him right now. I still stayed alm. The scheduling person said she will send a message to the doctor explaining hwat had happened. With a little luck he will be able to have me put back on the list. Worst case scenario is I have ot see him again and then start over on the surgery scheduling list. No fun, but not the end of the world. With my right shoulder much better and my weight loss and lots of vicodin - and Tony to help both with work and with keeping me emotionally stable - we are able to proceed with some of the work here.

Thinking of the others of us w ith our medical issues and I am grateful that things are not worse. Kaiser is a bureauocracy and things like this happen. have been supremely lucky to get an excellent primary care doctr. the best eye doctor and two excellent (and kind) orthopedic surgeons. I cound my blessings and take them flowers.

At least now I know what is happening even though it is what I'd feared. Better than worrying and wondering.

Bacck to cleaning the kitchen.

hugs, katie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh No, sorry you got removed the surgery schedule! Praying your Dr. gets the message, and gets you back on that list soon!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats Katie, that is terrible, I must say you are taking it much better than I..frustrating to say the least!

Pleased to hear though that you are not dealing with the pain you were on a day to day basis..let's hope your name appears on the list shortly.

How is the weather?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hope you are back on the list quickly Katie. Take care in the meantime and don't overdo if you can help it.....

A little good news. The concrete sealer we bought in Santa Rosalia a couple of weeks ago looked like water and we were pessemistic about it sealing the western concrete block wall inc ase of a tropial storm. However, it seems to be working. Yay!!! Many supplies like this are so hard to find here that I was having visions of having to wait until my next trip to the US in order to continue on this job. If this works,, we can go on to see what we can do for insulation.

I can't find my thermometer; all I can say is it's hot and humid but there's a little breeze now and then and I have enough privacy to be able to get naked so I'm working outside.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol, naked Katie, and here I thought B.J. And Marion were the adventurous ones..too funny! Great that the sealer is working, have you hosed it to see if water seeps through or not?

Hot here but what a breeze..am telling myself I should be outside doing something rather than laying on the chesterfield.

Noah just called, bought a long board, mwanted to tell me the $$$ I gave him for graduating was used to buy his 2 nd board. Other than that he's enjoying working, bit homesick..Melanie is going to visit him this weekend and won't be long it will be family vacation time so am sure he'll survive August.

Lyndonville, NY

Careful with those longboards....that is what Shane was on when broke his arm! lol Noah is a bit more careful I think. (knock wood).

Been running all day. Home to sit for a few minutes and get water started for corn on cob.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, having same thing for supper..won't be long our area corn will be ready!

Sure hoping that Noah is careful..sure is a worry isn't it when they take these sports up.

Gabbing with Darlene who is having a bad week..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, your waiting on the local corn to be picked, and ours has been done for awhile now. Farmers already have planted another crop of cotton.

Lyndonville, NY

We ended up going down to The Birch, Shane is cooking tonight. Nothing fancy, I had chicken fingers and onion rings and DH had a sampler platter.
Will save the corn for tomorrow when I can organize a meal better.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

What's a long board?
Betty - some go out for lunch, some sit at their desks near me and talk in whispers, while others gather around the lunch tables in the lunchroom and it doesn't look like there's room for anyone else (table for 4, and 5 at it.....)
No one has come by to ask when I'm taking lunch or if I want to join them.......

Lyndonville, NY

It is a longer version of a skateboard.

Hi guys. An update on the sneakers. One is growing a knee.

lol that looks so funny - how sweet that it's mimicking your sister's sneaker......... albeit the wrong one.......

Sorry I "cut out" early before - our internet provider is also our phone provider, and they had a fire in one of their transformers - causing us to lose internet & phone for a bit. Then the internet came back (that's when I last posted) but our phone didn't - Bob was under the desk trying to get it sorted......... Well, we have our phone back, and the cables are all sorted again - drives him nuts, but I think we have cable gremlins!! I don't do anything with the cables, but everytime he has to get the phone or 'net back up, they're all tangled again!!

Hello to All and Good Evening Night Shift !

Sorry I'm late on but have been promising DS I'd go out to dinner with his GF and her mom....and I did and had a lovely time... they are so wonderful...

Betty YES ! Girls heading to other cities in Mid August for college, Natchitoches and Lafayette. DS will stay home and go to community college. LOL The saying I've heard "Rum makes you Dumb and Gin makes you Sin" LOL...
Wish I could get rid of earwax...
Susan... I can tell you that I've probably not been the friendliest person with the newbies at my work. But for many years at my old job...we had so many new folks and I would grow attached to them and they would end up leaving. Thanks to FB I can now stay in touch with them but it was so sad for me. I almost didn't want to get attached. I will try to think of what I should have done. and you've made me have a new resolve to try to befriend folks. At my latest job... ppl barely talked to me....but since I've always been so focused at my job... that's not been a problem...
You've given me new perspective on this and for that I Thank you....

Oh Barb ! July 19th it is. My MIL did the same in re: preparations... I know you need to get organized and that's how to take control of things... Many Hugs and Prayers in having your date set....
JUDY ! Senior year gal... time to shell out the cash and tears! OMG can't believe I made it through DS's last year !

I'll try to pop back on in a bit...
HUGS
Mary

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Mary - thank you for your words. I, too, tend to get focused on my job. After all, if I'm not mingling with the ladies at lunch.......... well, no point in taking a long 1 hr lunch. I see folks out walking at lunch, and they tend to be wrapped up either in cell calls, or their own thoughts. I will say though, I got to talk to a lovely lady one day who had just returned from Hawaii the day before and was comparing the weather lol not too favourably in Calgary lol We hadn't gotten out of our cool-streak, and it was only 65-73F for a high and she was used to 81F all day......
She works at another company though, so I'll likely not see her again.
I've only been at this company for 7 working days, so maybe it will just take time.......
I also thought about how they might have gotten used to one person in my job, she left, and the last person was only here since Oct/Nov'ish of last year. So, I'm #3, and I'm not sure how long #1 had been here. All I know is that #2 hadn't updated a lot of the login stuff for other vendor's websites, and it was pretty difficult trying to figure out which was her login, and which belonged to the person #1........ and if she'd been using person #1's login for herself...... Blech!
I'll say this - if I get hired into the position, they won't have to look for another person very soon. I'm a "stayer" and a "keeper" lol

Lyndonville, NY

Hello.....Betty...BJ, Joyce.....Judy...LindaKay??? .Somebody.

OMGosh. They left me all alone.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning!

Lyndonville, NY

YaY!!!! Good morning LindaKay....

Want to run and jump on the couches with me...they left us unsupervised!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh yeah, a pajama party, with a pillow fight!

Lyndonville, NY

Ooooh! And cake and cookies for breakfast! YES!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning Debbie, always nice for me to drop in and see I'm not alone..now here for the day..

Drats and more drats..this morning was rushing to get out to the car, hands full, Sailor was sound asleep so I thought I'd quietly climb over her and what do I do?? startle her, up she came, I didn't want to hurt her so fell into the table, think I sprained a few toes as well as one being cut so now I'm hobbling around..and I talk about my mom and her dog, first thing I did was call myself stupid and Fran...shhh don't tell Fran or I'd get some of the same medicine.

Be back in a minute

Victoria Harbour, ON

Best I stay, someone needs to keep an eye on you two!!!

Suzanne brought in 1/2 the pieces that needs foiling, she started a lamp for her sister Marg's 60th birday..27th will be her 65 years which means it's been a long time in the process...thing is she has 6 bags of the while glass cut and I'm foiling it but says she left the pattern and red/green glass at my house..wow, have no idea where it would be other than I MIGHT HAVE used it..so guess I'll look tonight and might have to stop at stained glass studio on my way home..hoping she can find time to put it together by the 27th

Susan, just maybe the had made friends with the last girl, upset that she quit or got let go and have bad feelings about someone taking over her job. Mary, food for thought, guess when someone new is hired, wouldn't hurt to take a few minutes and make them feel welcome.

have to go downstairs and get something for pain..

Lyndonville, NY

Get some ice while you are at it and put it on that foot......and the finger....and probably your head by now.

Linda Kay, we need helmets if we are going to jump!!!

Glenview, IL

Good morning!

Getting ready to go to huber. Going to work in the shade today!!

So DEbbie did you get the eye candy delivery guy the other day?

What you all upta today?

Susan, why not ask someone to have lunch with you?
Maybe a casual hey do you know where a cloze park is to have a picnic lunch...or something
Like that...that would be sort of an ice breaker, adding perhaps you might like to join me...
At any rate sometimes people just need time to "feel" new people out...

Awe Betty did you hear from Noah? Im so grateful Kyle got me zet up! Think he might be proud ive only wanted to dig hole and bury this tablet a couple of times, roflol. It sure is senzitive...lol ive got very little patients at times. Next pay time thinki.g to invest in a key board. There is no typing fast...but im learning!!e ever so slowly.

Kay,got to scoot...ennoy the the day..thats enjoy!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty! Sorry about your toes! Dang, I know that hurts like the dickens!
Speaking of toes, Thunder how are you doing?

Glenview, IL

Lol you can have mine!!! Woopie its got face sbied to keep the fluff out of your eyes.

Ouch betty..yep ssome ice..oh ob hpe you find the glass.

Lyndonville, NY

Judy, they delivered the parts to the wrong FED EX up in Jamestown, so yesterday they delivered them straight to the Techs place, not here. And the Cable guy was a bust too.

Hopefully "Noah" who is coming today is better!

Yes, wishing Dianne would check in....sent her an email and still haven't heard also.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Judy! Don't work too hard today!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll tell Kyle Judy, he'll get a kick out of it!! You have shade??

Was thinking about comments when you work, get to know people, enjoy their friendship then off they go..much like here, often go back in threads and see what friends we've made then without a reason why they stop posting, wonder if they know (realize) just how much their friendships mean to some..

Looked at my mileage pegboard and saw a few names that were sooo special to me then not a word..always you wonder if it's something you did, hmmm

Speaking of MIA, wondering how Dianne and Liz are doing??? Maybe someone who keeps in contact with them can let us know!

Judy, Debbie is NOT sharing on the eye candy, keeping it all to herself!

Lyndonville, NY

Trust me, if there is ANY worth sharing...I will share! Nothing mentionable of late....and the mail man is now a mail lady. Sigh. They have no idea what they do to my world with these changes. hehehe

Paul goes to doctor today for the Gout issue. Can't wait for a big "I told you so" because he won't listen about the food. Has MRI for his knee tomorrow.

Judy, I have to send you a link for "Uncle Steve" from Paul. lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, are you talking about Lizrainey? If so her computer is crashed, she hopes to be back online if not this week end, then next.

Debbie, Todd has gout too, and he is supposed to avoid all liquor and red meats... Does he listen??? NO! He does pretty good, but every now and then he has a few drinks, or a steak, and pow, there goes the gout flaring up!

Lyndonville, NY

Linda, he has been pretty good. He doesn't drink hardly ever, had one beer at Betty's. I used lean pork in the spaghetti sauce, but forgot and put mushrooms in it. I think that is one of his "flares" as he had them the night before he was diagnosed also. And I LOVE mushrooms! Paul is a big "red meat" guy, just loves it all, and his dang sausages.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Didn't have mushrooms in my spaghetti sauce, thank goodness!!! would have hated being responsible for a flare up.
Mail lady, how could they do that to you?? don't they know it made your day seeing eyecandy.

I'll have to phone Liz, thanks for the info LindaKay..

As I mentioned before, not really a phone gabber but did talk last night to Darlene for 1 1/2 hrs. seeing she was having a bad today..poor thing!!

Had another interrupted night of sleep (or non-sleep). Woke up grumpy and headachy. Will someone please bring me breakfast in bed?

If I can get myself dressed we will probably go to town and do errands.

No word from Kaiser on the surgery but it's early.

I found a two part pourable foam product that may be what we need to insulate the roof of my bedroom. Even with the a/c going full blast (which will cost me a fortune) the temp is in the mid 80's.

Tony tested the sealer and water was repelled. Good news.

Where are crissy and Diane? Is it almost crissy's court date?

When I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep I did some more clearing of the shelves I need to move in order to brown bag the LAST naked concrete block bedroom wall. Feel like I'm moving through molasses but I'm making progress. Some days I'm a turtle, you know.

Each year I think I get a little better about handling the summer heat here but I still forget how the heat and humidity and gasping for air sucks the energy out. I think if we get the bedroom insulated I will be tempted to stay in there all summer.

I have one happy seed sucess. One purple double or triple datura is doing well. I think there might have been fifteen seeds. If I get one healthy plant out of a pack that size I'm happy. The white daturas grow wild around here. I've seen a few purple ones but only in somone's yard.

My flame tree is blooming beautifully. It was almost dead when I moved in here and its recovery is one of the things Tony and I often take time to stop and give thanks for. Flame trees and plumarias almost balance out the discomfort from the heat.

Thank you all for being here. I don't always remember to address people personally but I read all the posts and laugh, cry and celebrate with you all.

hugs, katie

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Katie, are you familiar with swamp coolers? You humidity levels are fairly low there, right? My nephew uses a swamp cooler in Bakersfied, CA and is very pleased with the results.

http://home.howstuffworks.com/home-improvement/heating-and-cooling/swamp-cooler2.htm

mulege, Mexico

The humidity is too high here for a swamp cooler to be much help. thanks for the suggestion. kb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bev, as always photo of Gaily Yours is spectacular..are these pretties all bloomed now or will you get a few more weeks out of them. Did your son get married, know there was talk of it happening a few months ago..you were thrilled with his choice!

Jean, that's very interesting..swamp cooler isn't the prettiest name to give it though lol

Katie, wonder if your flame tree is like my smoke tree..is it quite purple with soft puff's of smoke like flower?
Which month does it start cooling down where you are..October??

We'll all be looking for this weather once the cool temps come. All winter we asked for this!
