Morning sistahs!

Hope yesterday had been one spectacular celebration for most of you here.
Neighbours did fireworks, scared the dickens out of my cats and Hambone couldn't quit barking till it's over.
With this heat, I'm surprise the county didn't impose a fireworks ban.

Did go to Sis Carolyn, brought home more corn, tomatoes and blueberries. But couldn't take a pic of Bright Eyes.
That fawn died yesterday morning. Sis said it won't take any food nor milk.

LK, how did the bbq go? You must have 'hogged' Dylan to yourself all day?
Wish I had some of Texas style bbq here. When we're at BJ's we stopped at a restaurant and brought home about 5 pounds of bbqed brisket.
Kel never had GOOD bbq. If you like strongly vinegared bbq, come over to this part of the Carolinas :(

BJ, I'll take your boring anytime!!! Sure wish Kel has a job that takes him to places.

Betty, you'll like Don. For a man that doesn't talk much, we enjoyed being around him!

Supposed to rain today, which I highly doubt. I'll be indoors most of the day, got to play catch up with the sewing!

Blueberry pancakes for breakfast!

Well I don't know if our bar b que is as good (can't possibly be) as we had at BJs but we do have Sonny's who does a respectable job. Do you have them in NC?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning sistahs !
Not awake yet... will eat the pancakes in a bit.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are making me hungry and it's not 9am yet!! When I'm in Memphis in a few weeks I'll be sure to have Memphis ribs on Beall Street..Crissy introduced me to them and each time I'm in Memphis first place I go

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

No Sonny's here, Marion, sadly.. nothing resembling Memphis nor Texas not even Louisianan.
I'd have to go to Sticky Fingers, for palatable bbq.

I know there are lots of good bbq joints in Memphis, unfortunately, all the times I had been there, I'd hit the Italian restaurants!!
Will hit one next time I visit my gf there, Betty!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! We all had a great day for the 4th! Spent the day just talking and munching, spent a few hours in the pool, then we ate BBQ. Dylan got a taste of whip cream from the red and blue jello stars I made. He licked his lips for a long time! Then we finally fired off some fireworks in the front yard. Dylan was crashed, and all the noise did not bother him one bit! Grandpa Todd, MaryAnne with Dylan, in first onsie that says "my first 4th".Dylan on the floor in his play gym, and Rory with Dylan.

You can proudly say that Dylan definitely has your DNA. He has grandma's eyes for sure!
Looks like he's not lacking in attention. I could just hug him and hold him and kiss him too!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

What a great family you have LK... a good looking bunch.
I'd be smacking kisses all over that Dylan too... those cheeks are so squeezable.

Guess to get good bbq some of you will just have to get a smoker and do it yourself...
It's really not hard, and there's really no secret to it... the smoker does all the real work.

Don hadn't been on the lake in a couple weeks, so we trolled the shoreline a ways...
Got kinda choppy, so we came home... it's weally, weally hot out there too.

We're about to power wash the house now, and spray our "no spider" recipe under the eves.
I've heard this works, but haven't tried it yet... sure hope so... cause those pesky spider webs are really ugly.

I've decided to delay my teeth extraction until after Don's Mom's visit. I think she's only staying a couple days..
So, moving it from Thurs to Tues isn't such a big deal.... But, here's the deal... My son will be here too.
How could Don fuss about this? If I'm willing to rearrange my schedule, he can surely give up the "control" for a while.
My son & his fiance are coming to house sit while we're in Denver next week... and he's going to tape & bed the sheet rock
in the craft room while were gone... then coordinate the texturing with our dry wall guy, and it'll all be done when we get back.
THEN, he's going to stay on a few days with us while Don's Mom is here to lay the tile floor in there for us before his next show in OK City. He gets to make a little money on his down time, and we get the room done in record time. AND, his mom will just have to understand.

THEN... I get my new teeth.

Good Afternoon Ladies,

Didn't do a dang thing yesterday because we partied Tuesday night, but did watch the fireworks on tv.

I went shopping today and stopped at Joann's, pick up couple pieces of fabric (60% off) to make some blouses. Been awhi;e since I've sewed with knits so we will see ^_^ could really use a serger. I will be babysitting Taylor all next week so I will have something to keep me busy.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, if you don't have a serger, use a zig zag stitch, that will help a lot!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sue Taynors - there is a package for you at your Post Office. You need to sign for it....

thank You Barb.
i had a great 4 th of july once tim left back to PA LOL . i know i m bad.
drank to much and played volleyball with our friends next door . i had so much fun !!! been a looooong time since i had that much fun.
going back to being angry at Jessica. i had a therapist tell me . i m not mad at her but mad at her disease. bi polar. So that helped .
well not to chatty mood tonight. sorry. i cleaned the office building that is down the street from jessica's apt . I drive by it . someone lives theres ... :(
i have over 30 mosquito bites ! and i itch like a crazy crazy !! grrrr.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BJ, looks like you've found an easy solution to 'unexpected' company. Moving the date isn't like pulling teeth! (sorry.. got to type that)
Don's mum could lay tiles? So that's why Don's handy around the house.
Lucky you, having very capable family in remodelling, both sides.

Cindy, LK is right, try the zig zag stitch.

Sue, the therapist is right. Don't you feel guilty when you are having some fun. It's God's way of 'healing' you.
Hurry and take a couple of Benadryl, that will stop the itch!

Going to call it a night. Morning comes very early since the heat wave.
Good night everyone.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

My sewing machine makes 254 different kinds of stitches. But I just want a serger that trims, lol.

We are going to have a heat wave soon temps are going up up up!!! Will be 103 by next Wed, ugh. Today was nice 89, but going up to 99 tomorrow.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I agree with your therapist, Sue - get as angry as you want at her disease! It deserves it!!!!!

Tomorrow is Stampede BBQ breakfast at work! Flapjacks, bacon, eggs, OJ, more bacon............ more bacon LOL
Come & Go - from 8am to 11am.............. time for you to join us, Jaye........... BACON!!!! lol

Something nice happened to us yesterday.
Some of you will remember my "fight" with the City to get our mobile levelled BY the City......... they were saying it wasn't their fault our mobile's blocks were twisting, and "(we're) moving it in 2 years anyway, why not wait?!)
Our den's ceiling and walls were separating from each other and water was getting in behind the drywall, our bedroom was off level, etc, etc.
Well.......... the City came by yesterday am while both Bob & I were at work, and They Levelled The Mobile! Bob checked underneath, and the pillons that were twisted are now straight, the ceiling and wall at one side of the den (where they were separating) have almost closed the gap, and the bedroom is now on the level (my dresser is level, for sure!).
Now Bob is going to tear down the one wall in our den and replace the (now wet) insulation and drywall, and replace it with plywood and screw it to the beams and ceiling. This will make it more secure and get rid of the wet stuff.
They have NOT contacted us to pay for the work. They'd said, beforehand, that if it were the City's issue they'd pay. If it were our issue, they'd let us know and we'd have to make arrangements with the company to have it fixed and pay for it. We never signed off to have the work done, and the City hasn't contacted us, so I guess it was on "their dime"! All I can say is "Yaaaaaaaaaaay!" and "it's about time our place is levelled!!"
I'm so pleased that I'm going to get in touch with our alderman and thank him, and the City. After all, when Thanks are due, they should be given, right? I'm just sorry for those others who aren't "squeaky wheels" like I am LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sistahs!

Cindy, check with your sewing machine company. Sometimes a removable surger knife is made for non-serging machine.

Yayyyy for you and Bob, Susan. That's a very welcomed piece of good news. Was sure thinking that the city should be held responsible for the foundation's shift. Amen sistah! One item off your worry list.
All that trapped moisture is bad for your health too.

Will actor Kevin Bacon be the grand marshall of the Stampede? Lol!!

For breakfast this morning, we'll do bacon and eggs! Coffee of course, along with wheat toasts.
Have a fantastic Friday sistahs! I'm off to work in the garden.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, that is great news!
Thanks for breakfast Jaye! Don't let the skeeters get ya!

sooooooo hoooooooooootttttt.....
100 and that don't include the humidity heat index aaahhhhggggg.
hooray Susan
need to lie down
i watered plants all morning and i m just nasty sticky icky

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope you use up all the heat so that when I cross the border Aug.3rd for New Orleans it will be in the 70's...can always hope can I not?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lolol Betty, you don't ask for much do you?
Well sistah, be expecting high humidity in Nawhlins' in August. You'd probably know that already. I can see you "do si do" on Bourbon Street!

Sue, don't overdo it in this heat. Surprised to learn that Ohio has the same temps as me.. the high 90s to 100s. Whereas Louisiana is enjoying the 80s.

So Betty, you might get your wish if the weather keeps being upside down like this!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yea the heat is here too, UGH!!!! Going to be a busy weekend going on a bike ride scavenger hunt tomorrow. Then Sunday going to Sheri's and a bunch of us "GIRLS" are going boating on Lake Oroville ^_^. Been busy getting things done around here, making a "Honey Do" list for Doug, lol. Top of the list..............WATER MY PLANTS!!!!! lol

we should be cooling down next week.
Cindy have fun
Betty that is my birthday you know :) also fair week but i will manage to get over to Cookies to see you .
cracker jacks i forgot to pick up my box at the post office. i m soooo sorry. it has been a bad Jessica day. Found some of her stuff in the basement also found a few things in Savannahs room. They were stuffed animals that were jessica's and i was cleaning out savannah's room today and found them. :( so it hit me hard and i stayed in bed most of the day staring at her pictures. going through her baby album. ect.... *sigh* ..... i ain't got no chocolate :(

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

If I had chocolate, Sue, I'd send you some....... "cracker jacks"?? Is that a "semi-expletive"???? Oh Sue, caught you swearing!!! LOL My mom used to say "Brown Sugar" and my sisters would say "we know what you're saying, so it means the same thing!!!" She stopped saying it after they'd teased her for awhile lol

Jaye - I'm surprised You're surprised at the heat in OH....... it gets over 100F in Winnipeg during the summer - for about 4 months it's like that.......!! Wonderful growing season, if you can stand not being able to sleep until 4am when it cools down, until 7am when it begins to heat up again........ And I'm not kidding, either......

What a great day today - our company had their Stampede Breakfast and we had flapjacks, sausages, and hash browns (and coffee of course). No bacon though :-( OR eggs :-(

Anyway, it was a good day at work, and only took me 20 min to get home, cuz the streets are almost empty!! Everyone's either gone to a Stampede event, are taking the bus to one, OR they've left the City during this 2 weeks on their vacation (not everyone likes the craziness of Stampede!! Personally, I can't take the crowds, so I don't go, but I do go to the free breakfasts they have around the City. A lot of Community Centers and other public places put on these - including our politicians (I don't go to those - too many speeches and politicking......)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Sue, a nurse told me something once that I would like to share with you... I hope it helps.

Jessica left things behind... her image, her belongings, and her memories... to give you something of her to hold on to. She was here, and wants to be remembered by those who loved her. Most pictures were taken during the good times, fun times, and she wants to be remember like that. Her possessions were her personal treasures... hold them tight for her. But most of all, she wants you to hold the good memories of her... FOR HER.
It makes you sad right now... but someday you'll understand that as long as you have these things... you'll always hold the best of her.

It was really good to read your post above about being able to laugh and enjoy some time with friends. Make more of those opportunities... you need them, and deserve them.

My favorite saying is "We are unaware of what sweet miracles are yet to come"... author unknown.
Hang in there sistah...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Very well said Bj!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Amen!!

thanks Bj. i needed a good talk too.
hugs
sue

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sue, when Roger died I put all his things away, pictures included, hurt too much to see them....as months went by I realized I had also put myself away and the boys right alng with them, no signs that he had been! I realized I was a non person, I wasn't me! So out came photo's, realized what they did was remind me as B.J. said, of the good times, of our life together...we don't want to lose those memories or it will be as though they've never been...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Amen, and Amen again!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready, join me on the back porch to watch the hummers!

It is 8:17, and already 80 degree's, supposed to be 100 for the next week.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sue, please get to the PO They will return the package if it is not picked up....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ladies, Janice just posted in the sewing forum, that Tink/Stacey is going to have another baby! They are hoping for a girl this time!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks for breakfast LK. Watching hummers is much better than watching mosquitoes buzzing around me.
Yes, another day to just do nothing unless you're a grasshopper or japanese beetle.
The return of the terrible duos for the garden!

BJ, Betty, those advice get big AMEN from me.

Barb, I left a message on Sue's cell phone. Hoping she'd get it before the P.O. closes.

Having issues with my modem so, and Kel's working today and this evening. Hope this old one hangs on till he's off tomorrow.

Oh.. that's good news LK about Stacey. Little one would be as cute as Jonathan!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks for calling Sue, Jaye......The PO will return it if she doesn't pick it up soon!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, thanks. Mine's green! But, gonna save the pics on a flash drive.

Barb, Sue got it!! She called a few mins. ago. There, no worries about resending it back to her ^_^

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks for the coffee...late getting up this morning as I couldn't sleep last night!

BJ and Betty, I couldn't agree more!! At first, discovering things does "throw" you but as time passes, memories come back and this sweet soothing feeling seems to take over. Kim and now will come across something and it might bring back a memory that puts us into fits of laughter. So hang in there Sue, one day at a time and if you need to cry.....do it!!!

Oh what wonderful news about Tink!!!!!! We are all going to be Aunties again.:-) Think P---, will not say out of respect for a certain sistah!

Enjoy your trip BJ.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep... Stacy told us all at Betty's... we were so excited for her. Said she just found out the day before they left for Canada.
Was sitting on pins and needles till she actually made the announcement here...
If this child turns out as good as Jonathan... she'll be sitting pretty. Jonathan was such a good boy at Betty's... curious, like any boy would be... but hardly heard a peep out of him. Stacy was a nervous wreck that he would mess up, and she stayed right on his heels the whole time...

Got to tell you something though... Jonathan is fascinated with brooms, and soda cans. He loves to take all the sodas out of the box, then put them all back in again. And when ever he sees a broom, or rake, or something with a long handle like that... he grabs it... it's so cute.
