Oh Barb, so hoping they book the surgery, soon will be a year since problems started! How is the family doing, back at home and adjusting..must be overwhelming for them!
Knew I'd have a boring day so bought a quilting book on my way in this morning..love the String Star to use up leftovers..
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?
What is the name of the book?
Judy, so glad you have wi fi! Your going to love it!
Good Morning Y'all.
Busy weekend, old friends in town for a few days...spent Friday and Saturday evenings/nights catching up...late nights both, and still feel there is so much to catch up on...they are catching up with relatives today and then we are all going out for one last dinner tonight...think it has been 5 years since we all got together.
Judy, so happy you got your tablet and wifi....I know you hated not being able to reach out and say Howdy. Glad you had a good trip and the house is still standing..GRIN
Katie, hope it cools down some for ya. Hopefully good news when ya talk to Kaiser.
hope everyone has a grand Monday.
Jean, glad you are enjoying 'catch up' with friends. Have they come a long way?? Bet they love walking your gardens..
Yes, they are here from Seattle. Carol was my maid of honor 40 years ago. They haven't come to my house, we met up in New Orleans and Thibodaux over the weekend and they are coming to her Aunt's house in Baton Rouge tonight. They will fly back to Seattle tomorrow after spending the past week with family.
Visit is just not long enough!!!
Jean, what is in Thibodaux???
Sorry, Thibodaux is my DH's home town. His parents and Carol's parents still live there. It is home of Nicholls State University in Lafourche Parish. You can take the video tour from this link.

Well, just booked a tour on the Nachez. for the 8th..
Thinking if we leave Memphis early we'll swing to Vacheve for the Laura Plantation before heading to our rooms in New Orleans..looking at the links you posted, maybe something there...
Hello To All;
Marion: howlers and Quetzels and Sloths ! Oh My ! Feel like that's another language. Talked to my Aunt in Havana today.... you'll have to post some pics....requesting a pic of a quetzel :)
Judy - love to see your skittles again... who takes care of skittles while you're out?
Barb...praying you get that surgery date...
(hugs) katie sounds so hot down there. We've got some hot temps too...
Jean... youngest thought of going to Nicholls but settled on ULL Lafayette. Orientation is tomorrow and I've got an appt in Sulphur for work so I can sneak off and join them (her and hubs)
Jean - should we suggest Betty check out Rosedown or Nottoway? I've never been to Laura plantation so not fair for me to compare... I suppose I just thought those 2 were the best (along with Myrtles - "the most haunted")
HUGS
Mary
Mary, you are on early?? Now you know I'll have to key in both those suggestions..don't like you saying ' hot' lol
Correction: Unless the term "Hot" is used referring to eye candy...then she is OK with it. (ducking and running)
rosedown we looked at as well and market it down, don't think it was far from Laura..Suzanne fell in love with the trees forming arches
You sure do. Have me pegged Debbie..Paul Bach at work?? What did you get up to on your 1st day of not being a twosome..you have to say though this holiday was amazing..
Yes Paul was back at work, said he didn't get much rest there either.
I didn't have the best day. Dermatology appt. led to two biopsies and 7 spots "burned" off my face. Ouch.
Mary, I will need to check to see what pictures I have on a disc as my computer crashed recently and in repairing it...everything got stripped. that is all I can say as I still get very angry about that!! Wasn't suppose to have happened but a dumb clerk.....................................
Exactly where in Havana does your aunt live? Can you give me a clue?
Betty, your theme song should definitely be "On the Road Again!" LOL Oh well enjoy it--when the time comes I plan to do much the same.
Marion, I do believe we sang that song on our travels two years ago...several times!
They won't let us back in those states. lol
Judy - Wifi, eh? very cool!
Skittles is adorable!
Katie - sorry to hear you're still feeling down.
BJ - Costa Rico? Aren't you hot enough at home? lol
Jean - isn't it Great to be able to visit with old friends?!?! so much fun!!!!!!
Betty - love scrap quilt books - you'll have fun using scraps up, just to go buy more!! And be sure to get "HOT" colours lol
Barb - so happy the surgeon's office is being so good to (and for) you! Hoping you get your surgery date set at a time that YOU want :-)
Marion - No Screen? I would be concerned I'd wake in the middle of the night to find a critter staring me down! Or that they'd take stuff from my room (pretties, right?)
Mary - can we call you "Little Mary" now that you've admitted to needing a ladder? lol so would I - only 5'1 1/2". How tall are you?
If I've "missed" anyone, my apologies - I always have every one of my beautiful sistahs on my mind - love and hugs to all!!
Well, it's 91 here now....... power went off at work, so we got evacuated. Afterwards they said it would be 1 hour to get the power back, and then we'd only have 3/4 of an hour to go....... and with the heat outside, I sure didn't want to wait in the parking lot for an hour!! Whew - hot here at home. Breaker flipped on the a/c and I can't reach it to turn it on.......... Bob will be home soon........
OUCH, Debbie - that sounds painful!!!!
Oh Debbie that sounds like my kind of trip! LOL
Susan, too bad you didn't get evacuated a little earlier because you could have gone to the Stampede..if its that hot , would they still do the events like cow roping and bull riding? girls we missed our cue, those cowboys are lookers and fit, we should be in Calgary!!
Marion, talk about a job travelling with our Debbie, just like watching a teen, very mischievious..no wonder we got escorted out of some states. Lol
Yikes Debbie, sounds extremely painful..Sailor has her head on my arm, told her about your day, she is sending hugs!!
Marion I'd be ick if I lost my photo"s..should use your experience as a reminder to download photo's from time to time..in terrible at backing up computer!
Katie, let us know if your health has improved
Betty - they continue everything with the Stampede, unless it's outside in a thunderstorm.
Yes, this year being our 100th anniversary of the Calgary Stampede, there are a lot more people coming to it. They have even more events this year, if you can believe it......
lol I just saw a judging contest - TV host lined up 4 young women (dressed in western gear, natch) and offered 2 special guest tickets to win. All they had to do is sneak up on some unsuspecting fellow, jump on his back and stay on the longest. One of the young ladies was about 5'7"! Not sure how many fellows would be able to hold on, as they were caught un-awares!! One fellow said afterwards, "it was alright, but my wife didn't much like it!"
Debbie, that sounds very painful, getting those spots removed. Hubby has to have that done every few years as he has pre cancerous things that develop, as he works out in the sun all day.
Linda Kay that is what I have, had quite a few removed over the last 15 years or so. The price of growing up in Florida and no one knew back then the dangers.
I lived on the beach any spare moment.... and in the sun. Our tan lotion back then was baby oil and iodine....until Hawaiian tropics came along!
Debbie, where in Florida did you live? I guess I have never been a sun bather---just don't like the suffering with the burns!!
Do tell Betty, we have an over grown teenager trouble maker who travels with you every now and then? LOL I can't believe it is that bad...right Debbie.
Re pictures: they were not suppose to strip anything off my computer until I had been called (have it in writing for all the good it has done me) so I could download everything. Well the person who did the job pay no attention to what the work order said. Let's just say they won't be getting much of my business in the future.
http://www.nottoway.com/
Nottoway is the largest remaining plantation open to the public. It has become one of the "destination" stops on tours.
Wow, that is some plantation..looks as though it has been built recently though..Laura (sugar plantation) says has original buildings..hoping to get to one of them.
Want to thank you and Mary for providing me with possibilities re destination tours..know a cemetery will be one of them!
Marion, sure hope you didn't pay him..isn't it still possible to retrieve them..remember a mother who was at sick kids with her daughter who had cancer had her laptop stollen, everything erased, found it and a firm donated their time to retrieve all the photo's
Just spent last hour shelling lupin pods..lots of. Pods, end result little seed
Marion I was born in Bradenton, and lived in the South Venice area until age 14. My step father dragged us up to NY kicking and screaming.
Betty has led me astray the last several years, and we both love every minute of it when possible....at least I do.
Marion - I agree with Betty - ANY information is retrievable. Just takes someone who knows what they're doing, and usually a lot of $$ because not every tech knows how....... There are specific companies that only do this, so they charge.
Hi and good evening!
oh Barbara! That is really good news...or at least I hope so in setting a date for surgery. Sounds like the p rehab is going really well. Im trilled.. so glad they gave you something to work on right afterwards...what have you been working on?
Oh goodness Debbie...not a fun day sorry they had to burn your face..geese i must be blind, didnt see anything wrong with your face. ..hear any news regarding your test? So glad paul took extra days hope the outing was fun! Now my girl, i absolutly love the photo of you and Dianne...my very favorite is you sitting on the dock!!! You should frame it!
Moonie, how cool to visit with your friends!! Yikes, 5 years is a very long time...know youll cberish the time...
Mary, awe thanks...bet your getting excited! You have a pretty busy scheddule comiing up. Hope it goes according to plan. Take lots of pics, k?
Susan, wow!! Just so pleased as punch for you. Lol just realized, you got job!! So happy for you...yeppers i sure am loving the wifi...and my tablet!!
Oh skittles is rarely left completly alone, someone always here...in the event we are gone & no one around then she goes to grandmas.(mil)
Katie...hope every things going well for you...sending armwraps.
Betty, cool quilt books!! Awe, give sailor girl a kiss for me.
Yikes sure hope missys catch of the day escaped out the door.!
Bev..this first picture is for you!!thought of you right away.
(((Judy))) So happy you have Wi-fi! Didn't pass the test...try again in September. Thanks for the good thoughts, I had my hopes so high....dang fractions!

Sound asleep and Kyle called..
Said he was out riding and town full of police, seems there was a stabbing a street away and swat team out looking for the individual who did the stabbing..Kyle said he knew it was late but wanted to make sure I would lock all the doors just incase he's wandering the area..
Broke the ice, am sure he will be over tomorrow night to tell me all about what he has learnt of the stabbing!!
Ahhh Debbie, you did worry about those fractions..that's the pitts.. Do they do this testing every few months? Gives you a chance to brush up..
Oh Judy, so glad you bought that tablet, oh happy days to have you back with us. Did Uncle Steve's men do ok while he was away..sure hope so, that way he'll not fret about leaving them on the job again. He left the list of names behind for the summer house rental, did he need it..could copy and e-mail if he does.
Well, going to try this sleep thing again
I had a service contract but I was so upset, they refunded the price of the service contract but kept it in force for the remainder of the year. Yes, for approximately $1600.00 I might could have the items retrieved...not worth that much. Just take another trip for newer pictures.
Debbie, I grew up in Punta Gorda --well what is mostly Port Charlotte now. Small world!! Nothing wrong with being lead astray--as long as you have fun and don't end up in jail. LOL
Bad words/bad words, did you all hear me scream..
Came into the bedroom, oscillating fan you know the kingd that goes fron side to side? Saw that the cord was under the unit, went to move it, finer got caught as it rotated, couldn't pull it out, yelling ouch/ouch, finally thought of pulling plud up but still couldn't get my finger out....hurts like the dickens
Ok, was sound asleep minding my own biswax when Kyle woke me, now heart beating mile a minute as my finger is throbbing! Things come in three's, what next tonight..hope not late visitor.
Marion, when I spent winters in Florida we stayed just south of Ft Myers, Bonita Springs, often we would ride up to Punta Gorda /port Charlott for street craft show..lovely area.
I would opt out for taking another trip vs cost of retrieval...but will you?
Did I say I was going to try this sleep thing, off to try again
Hello To All !
We have plenty of hot times awaiting you Betty down here in Louisiana ! Will ya'll walk down Bourbon St ? I can't downplay Laura plantation as I have not been there. Myrtles is listed in the Smithsonian as the "Most Haunted House"...there was a story of a slave/maid I'll let Jean look that up but very interesting and she is one of the "ghosts". I visited Nottoway most recently and you can see the Mississippi River from there... some interesting stories one of the daughters kept a diary. Haven't been to Rosedown recently but remember the gardens.
Perhaps I'll have to visit them before you get here and do some reviews on tripadvisor.com LOL... I'm a "Senior Contributor" now on there (got my girl scout badge) ROFLOL....
Kyle is all grown up now (possibly regretting his outburst) and being sure to take care of you Betty by keeping you posted and locking your doors...180 degrees from the confrontation seems he regrets and has learned from it... Kudos to both of you ! (HUGS)
Debbie - HOT LOL... too funny missy ! We have a new Sales Manager, just met him today and he was living in Bradenton. Told me you can find a lot of shells on the beach there. I'd love to drive there one day.
LOL Susan yes I'm only 5'3".... "Vertically Challenged". Will you get to go to the rodeo?
Marion... will look up the street...Okay - it's Valentine Road. I'd been to their old house but they moved several years ago since then...
((HUGS))
Mary
Mary, Bradenton, Sarasota and Venice have some of the most shell populated beaches. And Venice is known for its shark teeth big time.
New Sales Manager isn't 58 and single is he? My brother lives in Bradenton and looking for work. lol
Betty, Ice that finger!!!
I am heading to bed. The child has been texting the last two hours. Sigh.
Sweet dreams
Debbie
Morning all, another sunshine day, upper 70's and lovely breeze! Been outside weeding, watering baskets, they are looking much better since the high heat temps have broken!
Survived the night..Did ice my finger last night Debbie, sore when I touch something with it but at least I have a finger and it's not broken..
Interesting stories Mary, the hotel we are staying in describes young girl rapping at doors, looking for her grandmother..maybe that the pull I have to New Orleans!!! Lol
Sure wish I had something to bring to work with me to keep me busy, long day when nothing to do. Paul will be there for 8:30 but likely will leave shortly after his meeting..
Jean, how did your outing go last night, bet you are sorry to see your friends leave this morning
Oh Debbie, think it was easier having the child home with you, easier to keep an eye on.
Well, hoping you all post something you are you today so I can live vicariously through you!
Furries want out and it's garbage day
Gab later
Hello to all my friends from beautiful Denver, CO.
We landed yesterday morn around 10:30, and hit the ground running. Don and I only had the one day this year to sight see, because he has a meeting both today and tomorrow. So, us wives will see what we can get into by ourselves.
But yesterday, Don and I drove 2 and a half hours down to Royal Gorge near Canon City, Co. We walked across the highest suspension bridge in the world... took the aerial tram across the gorge... and rode the incline railway down to the bottom of the gorge... 1,550 ft. at a 45 degree angle. The air was really think at the top... I think he said we were at 9000 ft... don't remember exactly... but it was hard to breath while walking the uneven surfaces, and steep inclines in the park area.
Now, where else would my husband choose to take a wife whose afraid of heights? I was gripping everything in sight all afternoon... and I did survive. Actually enjoyed it.
Was totally worn out when we got back to Denver, and checked into the hotel. Went straight to bed and was sound asleep by 8pm. Slept till 5am... so I suppose I'm rested up.
I keep thinking about my son back home, doing the taping and bedding in the craft room remodel while we're having so much fun... I am really going to owe him one.
Judy, it is so good that you can connect and keep in touch better now... way to go.
Betty... you're trip is going to be so much fun... so much to see ...
I'm going to try to get back here in a bit... but right now I have to go down to the lobby and find another cup of coffee...
Today I will live vicariously through BJ...because the woman is totally nuts...I mean, BRAVE, that's what I meant. That really does sound like fun. I hope you
have to camera with you.
My only hope for the day is that the Fed Ex guy delivering my computer part is the eye candy one....and that the computer guy coming to fix the computer
with said part....might be a nice person and not scare me like the last one did. lol My son is home...just in case. hahahha I made a joke, he won't even wake up til 1:00.
Ok my bought of sarcasm has passed for the moment. Going for coffee!
Betty, keep ice on that finger today...48 hours!!
Debbie
