Best/Worse/What did I learn today?

The link below is from the FBI and can be used to check your computer.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Is it malware?? Had it then brought my computer in for cleaning, sure hope it's not on it!!

LindaKay, had hummers this spring, they didnt stay long! Fun to watch aren't they.

Took a ride to Elmvale, found the lady who closed her fabric shop in Elmvale and relocated it to her home. Managed to find fabric for a binding I had to do for swap..she let her supplies dwindle till she moved, said within the month she will have new stock..imagine, less than 1 yd. and $18.67. Won't be doing a lt of buying there. Have to stock up at Joann's

Sun is out, should get ambitious and do something..bought a tool to put a screen in front door that Sailor clawed during a storm and bought food for hanging baskets, could at least feed the plants and do the screen.

Nice breeze out there!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I checked the site, and I don't have Malware. although I have a Malware checker program on my system!
Thanks for the link, LK!

Victoria Harbour, ON

morning everyone, sunshine day here, watered/fed and deadheaded the hanging baskets..they sure took a beating in the humidity!! Let's hope I can revive them...

Opened the door and in ran Riley, ate, begged for treats and ran out..just glas she drops in from time to time so I know she's alive.

Birds are chirping like crazy, guess they are reminding me its time to fill the feeders. Grass damp so can't cut grass for a bit, besides neighbors are still sleeping!

Dianne was thinking of you on the lake, are the loons doing their cry?? Was the calming time of my life the years I spent on the bay, having coffee and listening to the sounds early mornimg and late night..

I'm not sure if you are all having a time of getting energetic lately, but I'm lazy lazy..

Hope today is a good day for all of you

I'm off to do floors and dust while I wait for grass cutting time

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Lazy? Sheesh, you've already done all that, and I'm just crawling out of bed.
BTW... I think I left a blouse at your house... the goldish brown one with the wide ruffles and crochet yoke.
I got all the laundry done, and can't find it... if you find it... let me know.

Lyndonville, NY

Wonder if that was the one you stripped off on the dance floor twirling around... Oh wait, or was that Betty? hehehe

A high today of low 80's, I can't wait!!! I might actually sit and rest today. Have been on the go non-stop.

Corn Hill Art Fest yesterday. Over 400 vendors, then on to Gates Garden center, which was just a bit over an hour walking to take all that in also.

Enjoy your day!

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will look, didnt see it, did all the wash..will look again B.J. Did you need it for your trip??

Debbie, you are so bad. Lol

Omg Debbie, you will have to let me know the date for next year, I'd love to go see it! Am sure some of the girls here would enjoy as well!! Did you buy anything?

Should make the call to see who wants to go to the Elvis Gospel Breakfast, never know if all the tickets are sold..always a sell out! At the end of month so best I get a move on

Not sure what's wrong with the birdies this morning, blue jay was on the front deck railing, flew into the window, another wee one just did the same..maybe they are trying to come in and beg me for food..

Grass citing tme.
Gab in a bit!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, are the kitties chasing the birds? If you put a little bell on the kitties collar, the birds will hear that, and can get away.

Victoria Harbour, ON

No, Riley is away visiting and Missy is sound asleep on the patio set..just fed them so well see...big blackbirds hovering around though!

B.J. Blouse was hanging in the closet..do you want me to mail tomorrow or can mail it stateside in a few weeks?? Either ok with me.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Mail it to me Betty..... ;o)

Good morning. I posted on the visit thread, but I was all alone so I came here. Wish we were having low 80's. We'll be having low 90's. Could maybe, just maybe get a little rain. We need it so so badly.

Do you ever type along and then boom, you're in a previous sentence in the middle of another word? Drives me batty!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Betty... thought I looked good in there... but guess not.
Just hang onto it, and mail it when you go south... I'll reimburse your postage... thank you.

Mornin' Cookie Boo.

Come and check out the fairy/gnome swap. It will be closing on the 13th

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will do Lindakay!!

Happens all the time Joyce, think its my iPad..I worry at times with this iPad fabricating or second guessing my typing that one day it will get me in major trouble and I'll be ousted from DG

Right now it's about 75 and lovely breeze..I've the back yard cut, now out to do front and side then weeding..always nice to see it done!

Will run down to the grocery store pick up corn, make some tomatoe sandwiches and that will about cover supper..light and easy.

Glad the heat wave is breaking in your neck of the wood

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey BJ....didn't mean to skip over your hello....was just so intent on getting Betty to send me that blouse of yours.... ^_^

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL Joyce... you can borrow it... but I need it back by October to wear in Costa Rica... maybe Betty can just drop it off to you when she stops in to see you.

That blouse was one of my sister's attempts at teaching me to splurge on myself now and then. We were shopping together, and I picked that blouse up and said "I like that" and put it back... so she picked it up and said "well, go try it on then"...
It fit, and she made me buy it. Not so bad with something like a blouse... but when she made me buy a whole room of furniture one time, it should have taught me a lesson about splurging.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

What BJ--you are going to Costa Rica and didn't invite me?? How could you? Well maybe next time. When and what part are you going to? I am so green with envy....that is one of mine and Kim's favorite places to go.

Sorry ladies, good morning. I just had to comment on BJ's post first. Sorry to say I haven't a clue what it is outside...sleep very late today..bad night!

Do need to go to Home Depot and get some stain to start work on my new shelves in the kitchen---so tired of tripping over all the cupboard contents in the floor, on counters and everywhere we could fine.

BTW, I think the "sistahs" group should plan a trip to Costa Rica...what a blast that would/could be!!!!!! I can provide a really good translator if needed. LOL

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I think that is a great idea, Marion... Costa Rica ... HERE WE COME !!
It's our once every 5 years vacation... Joanna and BIL will be going with us.
We're going Oct 8th through the 16th. Staying at a hotel by the airport the night we arrive, then the next morning, we'll be rafting down the river toward the jungle, will be picked up by a van to take us to our first destination. Staying at a bungalow in the jungle on the Caribbean side for two nights. Then renting a car to drive to the Pacific side to stay 4 nights. So far, we have reservations to take Sailing Tour out into the Pacific, whale watching, and stopping to do some snorkeling. We will launch, and return to a marina in the Manuel Antonio Nat'l Park... voted by Forbes Magazine to be one of the top 10 most beautiful parks in the world... so, we get to see that for ourselves after the sailing tour.
I'm really excited about the whale watching because we'll be there during whale mating season. Supposedly whales swim down from the north, and up from the south, and meet up off the coast of Costa Rica.. some say that the whale activity during that time is spectacular.

So, everyone get their reservations made... and let's go !!! We'll see you there !!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds sooo tempting!! I'll have to live vicariously throu the photo's and stories you and Joanna share! You certainly have a full slate to keep you busy for the next while.....

Can you imagine, I've got the windows open and I'm almost tempted to get a blanket to cover up..it's in the cool side!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll trade with you Betty... I've got 102 here.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

You will love Manuel Antonio BJ!!!! Forbes isn't lying when they said that....oh at the monkeys, the "Jesus Christ" lizards, butterflies and birds!!! I wasn't being disrespectful about the lizards that is what they call them. While there you should try to eat at El Avion ....fantastic!!! Well rephrase that...it was when Kim and I were there in 2009. It is exactly what the name implies.

That was my first experience with the Howler monkeys....they were all over our balcony and the trees were full....all by 6 am!!!!! Everything from babies to granddaddies!! You might get lucky and see the Squirrel monkeys and plenty of slothes. LOL, I even got to see a Eye Lash Viper (through a telescope, thank you very much) and got a great picture. Lost it when my computer crashed...real bummer. In fact, the picture I use on FB is of an orchid taken in Monteverde....one of the 2 places they grow. The small yellow spot in the picture is the flower.

We haven't been there during the time the whales come but that is on our "bucket list" for sure. Also want to take the boat to Tortuguero.

Ah shucks, there are lots of places we still want to go and see.....................

Victoria Harbour, ON

Between B.J. And you Marion I want to go purchase a ticket..sounds as though you and Kim travel a lot! Howler monkeys??

Sorry you didn't get to go to Europe with her..how is Mom, sister still giving you the what for?

Thinking of a trip at Christmas, good time or not for Costa Rica??

Originally Darkene asked for me to drive her to Florida, will near the anniversary of Mike's death..she was all enthused but now having 2nd thoughts (know its all overwhelming ) so just might fly somewhere..

Hard to believe its not that far away! You B.J. With all that's going on will just be starting to unwind and it will be November.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats, blackbird just hit the window..that's 3 today, highly unusual....old wives tale is to expect a family death..not overly a believer in such superstitions but not liking it!!

Already cozy'd up on the chesterfield, won't sleep tonight for sure..lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - you need to put a silhouette of a hawk on your window - they do that at Ducks Unlimited head office in Stonewall, MB and it really works.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

http://thestarryeye.typepad.com/newage/2011/01/superstitions.html

According to what I have read, they see their reflection as an interloper on their territory.

Betty even a piece of your stained glass will stop this suicide run. As it is right now almost 100% of the staff in Kingston voted NO to the new items that the Ontario Board accpeted. Guess more money from the mayor has more clout than a donation by Joe Citizen. Just shaking my head here in disbelief.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks for the info Jean, feel better that if superstitions concern me that maybe its a good Omen..

Dianne, nice to see you posting..missed you.

Do have a large stained glass piece in the window..never happens then 3 times today!

If anything gets your blood boiling it's got to be Municipal councils..

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

For the last year... I've had a bird that practically every single morning (about 7am) it tries repeatedly to fly into my really high up bathroom window. So many times I finally showed DH.. I thought it was trying to get into the uninhabited bat house hubs put up there. Hubs says it thinks it's fighting another bird. I can't get up that high to put something up there... interesting but it's not a blackbird.....

So exciting to hear of everyone's travels... what exciting trips ya'll take !

Betty - just let me know if you have just a dinner that you don't mind I come to New Orleans and join you all.....at the very least....I'd love to see you however you can fit me in...

Waving to all...

((HUGS))
Mary

I'll make hubs come and you'll end up loving him more than me..... LOL.....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jean - that makes perfect sense, because all birds are protective of their territory, whatever they may perceive it to be (ie: temporary, or permanent).

Lyndonville, NY

We hang little stained glass ornaments in the bigger windows to prevent that...they see their reflection and actually want to mate is what I learned. OR...they are chasing off another...so it won't bother their spouse.

Mary put it on the inside of the window...not outside. It will work.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mary come hell or high water somehow we'll meet up!

Just took a pain killer, knees are killing me..must be the dampness

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, Paul just came down and put bio-freeze on his legs, calves are killing him. I think vacation finally caught up to him, hasn't stopped since we left.

Baton Rouge, LA

Thanks Deb... either way I'd need a ladder....

Hi Everyone, It's hard for me to post. It is so hot and humid that I am barely consious. Managed to fix liver, hamburger and brown rice for the dogs so they are very happy.

I did get my Magicjack phone hooked up yesterday and I'll be able to call Kaiser tomorrow and see what is ahppening re scheduling my surgery. That should help calm me down. My brain goes all fuzzy when it's this hot and humid. The a/c in my bedroom still only manages to keep the temp in the low 80's. We all go into survival mode.

When Tony comes tomorrow we will work on the bedroom. Some repair, some clean up and moving stuff so we can brown bag the last (LAST) bedroom wall. We will also try another sealer on the floor. In this room, salt from the ground comes up through the concrete. We have it partly blocked but not completely. We also have to seal the outside western wall in case we get any storms this year.

crissy, how are you doing? don't apologise for whining. I've been so under the weather for months that I feel like that's all I do. Makes it hard to post sometimes. I'm so grateful that the poeple here don't mind. We all seem to take our turns. Both in being up and being down.

My shoulder is still somewhat painful. It's so much better than it was for so long that I tend to discount the pain I still have until I'm tired out and grumpy.

It's so hot now that my outdoor bath tub is always nice and warm. I can soak in it and watch the river.

hugs, katie

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL, Marion... that's why we want to stay a couple nights in the jungle... so many wild animals to see...
They say that the sloths will climb the trees right next to the bungalows, because they're curious to watch us. Prob is, you really have to be looking for them to see them... they are very quiet animals.
The owner of the bungalows said that we must not keep anything out in the open that we don't want to come up missing... some of the monkeys are thieves. AND it's not uncommon to return to the bungalow to find an entire family of howler monkeys in our hammock... when we startle them, they'll make some gawd awful noises.
So, along with all the beauty of seeing those colorful and interesting creatures... there is a down side.

So, what I haven't gotten clear yet is : There's mosquito netting around the beds.. because the I suppose that's the mosquito capital of the world...
BUT, there is no screens on any of the window openings in the rooms... shutters that you can lock, but who wants them closed with no air conditioning? So, we're protected from the mosquitos, but what keeps the monkeys and other creatures out of the room at night?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, December is the beginning of the rainy season. Having said that I have been in December and July...wasn't much difference that I could see.....it rains. LOL

Oh BJ, do the howlers ever make a noise!!!! I wasn't overly bothered with mosquitos on either trip but then we didn't stay in a cabin---we were in hotels on both trips but did sleep with windows open and no screens. If you have a tour in the rainforest with a guide, then you are much more likely to see the animals--they are really great about spotting them. Sloths in Manuel Antonio were not a problem for us to find on our own...more difficult at Monteverde. A guide found a quetzel during the tour of the rainforest in Monteverde...what a spectacular sight!!

It does get cooler at night so you don't actually miss the a/c but then watch the weather prove me wrong.

Waaaa, I want to go!!!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bj, sounds like you are in for a nice trip!

Katie, how hot is it there? It has been 100+ for several week here now, and no rain. Storms come in, but go around us, and then it is so humid!

Good morning all, been up and at it early this morning, some confusion about a sewing swap project, thought I was ahead of the game but NOT! Thanks Susan for calling, now have Audrey's done and I'm feeling wonderful now being caught up with everything.

Judy Judy LOVED your post, was thrilled that you have access to us via your tablet but even more so this mornimg hearing you have wifi..doing the happy dance.

Waving to Skittles...

Love the phor

Drats, in comes Missy with something in her mouth, not sure what..try and get it from her no go, behind the tv she goes and out without her catch of the day...grrrr off for the roll of hand wipes, got to move tv to get the poor creature, NOT there, must have been playing dead, guess while I was in the kitchen it made an escape but to where?? Not good, if it's injured and dies I'll not be happy..yucky smell..will teach me to open the door in the morning as I'm in and out!

Back to you Judy, so love the pictures of the falls..if B.J.'s gps hadn't led her astray she too could have seen it. We are still waiting to hear about your trip home??? Gather the kids (young adults) made out fine..Skittles is still with us so that is a good sign.lol

Better go move the hose, missed an area last night.

Waving to all others, coffee is on

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh Judy, I'm so sorry _ I wrote out a post to thank you for your kind words for me and my family and I think I went to check something and now I see the post isn't there!!! I did really think I had sent it!!! I know I commented on the fact that you had so much to say because you hadn't been able to be on for so long. I loved reading your book!!!

I see the surgeon tomorrow and I'm praying he will set a date finally for the surgery. I have only two more weeks of pulmonary rehab. After talking with the director at rehab, she suggested that I come back after surgery for a couple of weeks. There are techniques she is teaching me now to help immediately and she said there were more I could learn. They have been just fantastic there.

I'm off to get the laundry started. ~~~~~waving to all.

Edited to add - I can't spell this morning.
