Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Visit with friends..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

My son and his family are still at the air base. They were not allowed to go back to the house this morning. There are some reports on the news services online that the wind is shifting away from where they live. I'm praying as hard as I can for that to be the case for them. It's hard to watch the videos and recognize all the spots they show and know that I've been there.
I thank you all for your prayers on their behalf.

Victoria Harbour, ON

What a tragedy..here's hoping they will be in their home later this evening, quilts and all!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I will pray for them, Barb - not easy being displaced.... they want to be home in their own warm bed, safe & dry......

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

If prayer can move mountains, surely with all of us we can change which way the wind blows. Continued prayers.

Betty, looks like TS Debby is doing what Hurricane Allison did in 2001...She stalled at the coast and.at one point she dumped 29 to 36 inches of rain over LA and Texas.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, is it not over Florida now, or where it stands is it dumping rain in your neck of the woods?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Guess what? the City just called, and said "we can have a fellow from Bryan's Trucking come out and look at your place. The only thing is, if they come to do an estimate, they want to do the job at the same time - would next Tues or Wed (July 3 or 4th) work for you?" I told them that I am not agreeing to pay an amount without first knowing how much, and secondly as Bob's only working sometimes, and me not at all, we can't afford Any $$ to do the work. Also, I think it IS the City's issue, not ours. So, he said he would talk to the Site Manager and see if the City would pay for the work and if it's their issue, it's paid. If it's the tenant's (ours) issue, then maybe we could pay in instalments. He'll call me on Thursday with a definite day, and he'll call back today with Gus' word as to whether the City will agree to "arrangement payments".
Also, I have an app't tomorrow at 2pm, and don't know if I will have next Tues/Wed off, or if I'll have a job or interviews. Told him he'd have to have a definite day for app't.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Last i heard it was still sitting in the Gulf moving about 3 MPH...it is not at present bringing us any rain...occasionally hear a rumble of thunder and see a few clouds, but no rain as yet. Weather service still can't predict what Debby is gonna do.

Good luck Susan...I hope they get things repaired quickly and affordably...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

3 mph isn't much......... is this building up, or slowing down?

I hope this interview tomorrow nets me a job..... it's a 2pm with an agency.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good luck with the interview Susan!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thanks LK - hope the agency has one that's a "fit"

Well, we're getting the rain!! LOL Tsk Tsk Debbie you're reeking havoc again, girl!

Barb, I'm so sorry and am sending my prayers. I agree that the quilts are surely giving much comfort ... Hope they can return to their home soon and all will be okay!

Praying for good weather for everyone!

~ing to you Dianne ...

Susan, good luck!!

Okay, got to get that meat loaf in the oven. Will BBL.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

hooooo boy - never rains but it pours....
I just got a call from an agency, and they have a temp position for 4 months - upon completion of the term I would get a $2/hr "completion bonus". Apparently the boss needs someone with a thick skin lol And, although the position is only for 4 months, they have a huge company, and there's a possibility for advancement. They'll put my resume forth, and will let me know tomorrow am if the company's interested. 4 months, eh? Well........ I would then have to reapply for my benefits if it doesn't work out, and would wait 2 weeks before getting them again.......
And of course I still have that 2pm interview with the other agency, but that may turn out to just be a meeting of another of their office's reps (they're only looking after suburban employers, and that's what I want).

Victoria Harbour, ON

dropping in with a 'hi'
Noah is now on the Miss Midland with graduation class of 2012! They will have a 2 hr night cruise , class is now over..he was excited as can be but wasn't thrilled with all the picture taking. Lol

Kyle, he's so grown up, passed all his written Young Drivers of Canada and started the first of his mandatory 10 behind the wheel lessons today..big day for both of the boys.

Suse, did you keep me a plate of meatloaf, with all that went on this evening I've had nothing to eat..will settle for pork and bean sandwich.

Susan, here's hoping you will be employed by weeks end.

Haven't heard via email or dmail if Steve and Judy set out on their Canadian adventure.

Too late to do Skype girls, maybe as soon as I get home tomorrow night..

They didn't call for rain today and yet we had rain, on cold side but starting to warm up tomorrow.

Not many more sleeps before the gang arrives..oh happy days

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, my note from Judy said they were leaving Sunday....so would imagine they are on the road.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I will be available, Betty - just let me know. Suppose can only Skype with one person at a time, unless you pay extra for Conference Calling......

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All ...

Continued prayers Barb for your son's family. and LK how horrible for your friend... prayers for them too...

Last I heard Hurricane Debby was hitting near my Dad, DH called and reported that Dad said they were getting some very much needed rain. Which is odd because I heard Pensacola has been flooded...and it is not that far...

funny what the weather can do. Yes Betty I am a bit exhausted. Ready to get back in a regular schedule.

Hubs has continued to tinker on the car so maybe the get together "worked" LOL...

Suse - is your rain "much needed" ?

Had over an hour meeting with Witchypoo Boss... she is obviously trying to be nicer. She has fielded a huge complaint from my "old" friend who just came to work a few months ago (who complained about her to the GM). And my young friend who I had worked with before was going to resign today... Haven't heard how that went.

I agree with Jean, Betty I think you are just so excited ! I think I ran on adrenalin the whole vacation.

I'm so excited for you all. I hope you share lots of photos with us stuck at home !

ok, just before heading off to find my bed, must rest, forgot I told Suzanne I'd meet her at the car dealership south of Barrie so she can have her vehicle serviced, means i have to leave here at 6:30..we'll do breakfast.

Debbie, I spoke to her about 1 1/2 weeks ago and not since so wasn't sure if all went according to plan and they left Sunday.

Susan, no we'll try individually tomorrow night

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm sure they are Mary..

Was just about to fall asleep and got a call from Judy, she wanted to let everyone know they crossed the Windsor border last night, changed direction, at Niagara Falls, canada, enjoying the falls, going out for supper, can't believe it's beauty,..are hoping to spend tomorrow sightseeing and will head here on Wednesday...

She is just in awe....

Lyndonville, NY

Wow, she is just 45 minutes from me...but across the border. I hope they relax and enjoy it. Last week at this time it was a zoo there with the Wallenda walk.

Betty, Noah looks just like you....very nice pictures.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes Debbie she is close to you...said it was great riding but the wind today was something! Steve told her they were paying for the call by the minute so keep our chatting for when she arrives..we're so close and yet so far.

As for photo's, some are so photogenic, wish I was!! Think when you meet Noah Debbie you will see we are very much alike personality wise, at least I think so..Kyle, he's kind of going through the awkward teen years..

Was up at 3am this morning, thought ok, good nights rest, now my adrenaline is working overtime, I had better start counting sheep. sailor girl is snoring away, nothing worse than wanting to sleep, being wide awake and listening to snoring..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I think you're very photogenic!! Don't you be putting my friend down now, y'hear?!?! (you, my friend!!)
Noah is quite the handsome lad, and I see you both have carnations :-)
Judy - yoo hoo!! Betty's getting anxious to seeeeeeeeee you!!
Less than a week ago they had someone walking a tight rope across the Falls! Not sure if it was Canadian or US side, but think it was Canadian side........ I don't know what the outcome of it was.

Oh wow ... even though I was only 13 ... I remember it like it was yesterday!! Niagara Falls is a lovely place!! I remember all the beautiful flowers, and I wasn't even a gardener back then. LOL I also remember the mist as we walked along the walkway ... I was so close I could practically touch the water!! It was awesome! I was on the Canadian side at the Horseshoe Falls. I remember staying in a hotel and you could see the lights ... red, green, blue ... all colors across the water at night. Breath taking!! All this was from a 13 year old memory. Oh, I went up in a glass elevator. Now back then, that was something!! I did it by myself cause Grandma was scared of heights! LOL

Linda, I forgot to send prayers to you earlier ...

Betty, Congrats to the guys!! I know you're just beaming!

Mary, we've had some usual little afternoon summer rains, but have been in a deficit for a long time. This is definitely going to help. The only problem is when you get this much, there's always some flooding ... and you know where it's flat there's not much place for it to go!! Smile I sure feel for our FL friends ...

Okay, I'm off to bed. Will see y'all tmr.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Suse - I remember the falls too - I was 20 yo, and went to visit my new inlaws in Toronto. We went on the Cdn side, and had to wear these yellow slickers and hats...... looked so geeky! We got sprayed good & proper lol Saw the Maid Of The Mist, too. It truly was awe-inspiring, all of it!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, going to be a sunshine day in my neighborhood, am sure it's perfect weather for Judy and Steve to be out taking in the sights of Niagara Falls

Up early, didn't sleep soundly, knew I had to be up and out of here by 6:30 am to meet up with Suzanne in South Barrie.

So here I am, about to feed the animals, take out garbage, do my walkabout in the garden, thanking Mother Nature for the flowers that are in bloom for my company..just might have enough time to deadhead the hanging baskets.

WS hoping I had something to take to the office to occupy my day but can't think of a thing.

Tonight will be a busy night, would like to cut grass, empty firepit, wipe down patio sets, do groceries just to name a few things. After that it's sit down to enjoy my company!

Suse and Susan, nice memories of the Falls. Lots has changed and much added..I enjoy the butterfly xconservatory, Niagara on the Lake..of course you got to do the Maid of the Mist (now under different management) but you truly get the feel of the powerful Niagara when taking the boat tour..also the underground tunnel that leads you to the bottom side of the falls..I'm sure Judy is snapping photo's like crazy.

Mary, everything g ok..usually short posts or no posts means my dg friends are having a rough time off it. Sending hugs and prayers for those in need.

Hope you are all safe from the storms, got to get a move on

Congratulations to Noah!!! What a handsome young man he is. There is no denying that he is your grandson Betty!!!
Happy to hear Judy and Steve are at the Falls. Norm and I were there about 10 years ago. It is an amazing place.
My son and family are still in mandatory evacuation in Colorado. Please keep the prayers coming that their home is not destroyed. Thank you all so much.
Short post - off to rehab today......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sending prayers Barb that your family get to go home today..must be difficult living away from home not knowing if you'll have a home to come home to.

Will let Judy/Steve know you are all thrilled they are taking advantage of the sightseeing..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

We sure are having odd weather, extremely hot down here, lots of rain on the coast, and fires in Colorado! Be safe everyone!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Actually LindaKay, I was chilled here in the office when I first came in, was tempted to turn on the micro heater..that's sad

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Right now, that sounds good!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Barb - praying your family get to come back to their home, with it intact!

Betty - keep warm! Think we're in the same "cool front". It's drizzly and cool here - 9c

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to mention, I've a photo when I get home to post..it's Noah's teacher, he did the graduation speach via a taped message..as it was being played he was having brain surgery. He was biking and fell a few weeks ago and when they did the tests, found an anerysm that could be fatal at any time..many of the students/parents had tears knowing that he wasn't there and listening to him via tape.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Betty, ya know what they say...Girls go crazy for a sharp dressed man...grin. Noah is such a cutie and looks so grown up in his suit.

Susan...good luck to you. Hope you are able to secure a position with promise.

Barb, continued good thoughts and prayers for your family and also the same for your neighbor, Josie, Linda Kay.

The thermometer hit 100 yesterday...plus heat index....TS Debby is going to miss us completely, but is giving Florida and Georgia the dickens.

http://www.weather.com/newscenter/tropical/

Good day and good thoughts to you all.

Sending prayers Barb ... Wish I could send them some of this rain to put out the fires!

Linda, still sending prayers your way for that friend of yours ...

Please say a prayer for my Uncle. He had a mild heart attack the other day and had a stint put in. Then this morning early, he had another incident and had to go back to surgery for a Pacemaker.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ooooh not good Suse! Sending prayers..am always amazed at how successful they are with these heart surgeries, let's hope they have everything under control now that they've done the pacemaker.

100 Jean, wow, no wonder the girls coming from Texas Thursday say they need to bring longjohns..one would think they would appreciate the cooler temps, maybe I'll have to go in search of snowmobile suits lol

Glad Debby is missing you but the Florida gals like Suse, bet they wish is was heading somewhere else.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Barb sending thoughts and prayers to your family. I have a DG friend in Utah and that states on fire too. Those poor people, and the floods in Duluth MN and now FL! My goodness!!!

Betty dang he's getting big, congrats to him and Kyle!

YAY They're going to love Niagara, hopefully they do the Maid of the Mist, that was awesome! Next time I want to do the tunnel.

I think y'all that are getting visited by Debby, you should whoosh it up my way!

Big HUGS to everyone!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, we did have fun on the Maid of the Mist didn't we!!! I should go in search of photo's..how are you doing sweetie??

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - Noah must be "beside himself" with worry about his teacher - what a thing to have to go through, but modern medicine is wonderful - the Things they can do!
Yes, I imagine longjohns would be appropriate, when they're used to such hot weather. ON can get pretty hot too though! It would be nice if our southern neighbours experienced our hot weather (yes, we Canucks get hot weather too - up to 104F...... just not Calgary lol)
I never went on the Maid Of The Mist - just saw it. We were in the tunnels, and looked doooooo-own into the Falls, yikes!

I so hope that the bad weather everyone's having - TS, flooding, heatwaves - settles down to a liveable season.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Am hoping that Judy and Steve while sightseeing today get to do the boat ride, would be awsome..
Another day and I get to hug and laugh with Judy..can't wait!
