Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Visit with friends..

Afternoon y'all!
Happy happy birthday Liz!!If I could, I'd take all the smoke cravings away for your Bday and give you a perfect picture bill of health! That's what I pray for you!! But since I can't gift that to you, I'm hoping you're having fun, fun fun!! LOL

Mary, sending hugs to you for the loss of your dear friend.

Debbie, glad to hear Paul is doing better now. So wishing you could get a good report with that eye of yours and with everything else. You sure need it!

Betty, you keeping a check on that BP? You can get a rather cheap moniter so you can chart it at home. Then you can go loaded for bear next time you go to the Dr. It will either confirm or illiminate that concern ...

As for my friend, she was a dear lady that I adopted for my Grandmother. My family moved next door to her and her hubby back in '66, and she's just always been there. It's always been like having an extra Grandma. It's different for Mary ... that's so sad.

Anyway, I'm sending a big hello to everyone.

Thea, forgot to say I was thrilled to see you post the other day.

Barb, you're doing fantastic!! Great to see you, also.

Crissy, hang in there. Hugs ...

Katie, if you're reading, had you on my mind as well.

Linda, how's that sweet grandbaby? I know, he's not a baby anymore!! LOL

Okay, now I'm *Really gone ...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow talk about a storm rolling through, bing/bang, light show going on..think we've got hail..thank goodness I had just gone down to closemy sunroof, forgot I had it open. Still 1/2 hr. to go so likely it will move through quick enough that I will not have to drive in it..one thing, I won't have to water my flower gardens tonight IF there is any garden left after the hail..wouldn't you know..

Telling myself to 'mellow out' lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Best - getting a quilt block from Marion for the RWB swap. It's beautiful
Worst - realizing I'm alienated a group of people, Plus a friend I thought I had for life. (2 separate issues).
Learned - I'd better get online with the 2 employment agencies that have Online Training and get my MSOffice 2007 and 2010 training so I can use it on my resume. I have 2007 on my home computer, but don't know how to use it as well as Office 2003........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds like a challenge for both issue Susan..drats always happens when you are at your lowest doesn't it! sending hugs...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks Betty - now I'm crying........ BUT - some things are for the best. I really thought I'd made a friend angry and had tried to contact her.......... for some reason my messages had not gotten through, and now she IS mad at me for .......... whatever....... anyway, you know that old adage of "Reason, Season, Lifetime"........... It was a long season we were friends, but now I'm told to step WAY back so I will.
As for the group, well, we were never really "friends" so I'm going to get over it, and put on my "Big Girl's Pants"
Both issues hurt, but dwelling on it won't help.

As for the RWB block - Well, it had me singing "America, America, my country 'tis of Thee......" LOL
Here's a pic - it's on my burgundy computer chair, so ignore the background LOL

Storm just went passing through, on the skylight you can see the sun peeking through..might be able to get some weeding done outside after all..hanging baskets need to be deadheaded..been watering them but I either gave to much or too little, killed a planter..boo hoo, others if I deadhead more blooms will come.

Susan you just have to say to yourself that you did what you thought was best and leave it at that. There is no way we can please everyone even some of the time..wipe the tears...there you go.

Suse, that is a big loss indeed, a grandma of the heart is very special!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hey Betty - got right back up, dusted myself off, and going on with life. That's always been my philosophy!!

I just got some potentially Great News!!
Don't know if anyone here remembers me saying about how our roof is leaking, and it's caused by the shifting of the block, on the NE side of our mobile, having shifted. The property is owned by the City, and we pay rent each month.
I maintain that the property has caused the block to shift, and when I called. the Management Office for the property they (Gus) said this: "It's your responsibility to get the block reset/raised" and "You're going to be moving in 2 years - why not leave it the way it is?". Well, when our den ceiling is separating from the wall and therefore letting water in the wall (it's been raining a LOT lately - even bubbling up some of the drywall to 5 ft from the ceiling), I'm NOT a "happy camper".
About 3 weeks ago I sent an email to our Alderman's office outlining how I felt that, as the City is closing this park in a few years, the City is leaving the park get neglected because they will "shortly" be handing the reins over to another company to own it after the Park is moved to the other side of the city. A week and a half ago I got an email from our Alderman's assistant saying they are looking into this for us.
Now - here comes the GOOD part - I just got a call from Gus (City Property Manager for this Park), and he said they'd like to come out and see what's causing the mobile to shift, and will be bringing an independent person as well. They'll be taking pictures, etc.
All they need from us is to make sure there's access to the underside of the mobile at that point. The appointment is for Monday at 10am
YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!

It would be nice if not only they determine the property shift is causing the separation between wall and ceiling, but also fix the subsequent damage (and rot - which has been confirmed) to the roof and interior! Leaving this for much longer may mean we have no den. Frankly, we live 50% of our time in here, on the computers, or in the sewing area of the room LOL

That is great news Susan!

Hello To All :

Good for you Susan... ought to be really proud of yourself... some folks might have just let it go... Hope they get it fixed for you all. (HUGS) just sometimes you have to move on re: certain folks...

Oh Suse... yes an adopted Grandma would be very difficult to lose... (HUGS) has her hubby passed on too ? maybe you already told us...
Crissy - what a coincidence... Mom passed in 2004, she was 64. Your gma was 94 in 2003... very difficult...

Betty - I had sent Mike a card but didn't realize how quickly he went down hill... it was diagnosed late. I also sent $$ to Pancan

LK - your grandkids are precious... and Dylan growing up so quickly !

Betty - 'OCanada - miss the film! seems we never have time for the movies... I'll just have to go back :o)

I've seen them all at some point just not recently.....

I'll pop back in a bit...
(HUGS)

coffee's on,

Morning, looks like a sunshine day! love Fridays, working from home let's me get chores done..today it's deadheading hanging baskets! I've managed to kill 2 was so worried they'd die I think I drowned it so will see if I can revive..highly unlikely.

Mary, you will have to skip the 360 movie and visit and see some of Canada!

Coffee in hand I'm out to see what damage the storm did

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Hope you enjoyed your walkabout, Betty. Don't worry about the gardens or the pond. It will all be lovely, I have no doubt. We all have the same issues you're dealing with, so we understand. We got maybe 1/8 in. of rain in the night. Not much, but it was more than we had the night before!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol June just came for a visit, what does she say??? To bad all the flowers in bloom a week ago hadn't waited and the others not in bloom. ..oh my, same thought as I ..she even said, now who has aetificial flowers. Lol

Beautiful breeze..should put bedding I've washed from Noah' s bed outside to dry..always such a nice smell

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Susan so glad you're getting r done!

I've seen too many sunshine days, we need rain really really bad, while Duluth is floating away!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

don't know what the City will say when they come by, but Bob's doing a lot of stuff that's been left undone, in the den lol
He's putting up the shelves that fell down quite awhile ago, almost on me...........
He's got a "day off" because his boss doesn't want to start a new job on a Friday, and the "bits and bobs" he has to do on a few homes is not enough for more than one...........

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll send you my rain Crissy..always nice to share.

Susan, good idea or the municipality might think the problem is from undo care.

Know I get to enjoy my house on these work from home Fridays and I don't want to screw anythink up, want to be near the phone so I just sit on the chesterfield anticipating a call while Sailor sits at my feet and Missy beside me. Lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Another hour and off the telephones..getting hot out there but the breeze makes it enjoyable!

Because I have to be available should telephone ring I was looking for something to do, the other day while bathing I thought the caulking on the tub needed to be done..I've been waiting for what seems forever (and it is) for Bernie my brother to come and out new countertop and zinc and decide how much work for new tub and he hasn't been, infact hasn't even called! Big sister will give him a talking tooooo.

Now I have to backtrack, who could I have mentioned the caulking to??

With exacto knife in hand and caulking on my list I go to start removing old caulking and for some reason it looks NEW, went back again and checked it out because really it only needed a small area to be done so I might have missed it..hmmmm. Somebody has been here and done one of my 'to do's. Lol. Going to look again but??

More so years ago these unexplained things would happen, I called them earthly angels..found myself with $30 in my pocket, no home due to trusting someone I should not have..within a month I had bought this house, falling apart but still a place to hang my head..

Wouldn't lay down and die, said with the help of the Lord and family/friends and earthly angels I WILL SURVIVE! And that I have..found a job, saved from paycheck to paycheck, fixed what I could, friends would drop in, their hubbies in tow and I did learn how to drywall, lay floors, paint, tile etc etc..built decks, new angled roof, doors, windows etc etc, been a long road, all that remains is new duct work in the basement, waiting for Greg for that one, then tile ceilng and trim..both on my 2012/2913 list of projects., not done but will be done and here I am, still having earthly angels visit and undertake projects, and people wonder why I don't lock my doors...lol

Hi y'all!
Sounds like everyone might be getting some good news for a change?

Betty, Susan, Mary, Barb, ...

Now we need to hear from Debbie, Katie and pray our Dianne is having a good day ...

As for me, we finalized everything with our new truck yesterday. We had a cover put on the back so the groceries won't get wet. LOL Mr. Moses has the back, of course. ☺ If you googled it, you know it's an extension cab, so he has plenty of room behind our seats to stretch out. He just loves that!

Mary, my "Grandma's" husband died in '88, so I know the angels smiled on the 4th when they finally reunited. ☺

Betty, things will be
G O R G E O U S!

Gardens are like people ... beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Your *friends will *love them! A gardener *knows what it takes to make a garden grow ...

Ooops phone

Lyndonville, NY

Well, I had a busy day....don't know how good it was Suse'! lol

The good part going to the dentist and it is NOT my teeth giving me the issue, but my jaw. I am on antibiotics, muscle relaxer and pain meds. And on a soft food diet, no chewing gum....and if he hears of me chewing any more ice cubes I will be in BIG trouble! haha Might have to go see an oral surgeon as there is bone rubbing, slight misalignment going on. Lord only knows what I did! lol It was a HUGE relief I didn't need a needle there though.

I am really enjoying this weather, it is so so nice out.

DH is on his way home from work, Shane is working and they have a huge wedding tonight along with a rehearsal dinner for a wedding tomorrow. So he will be busy, and hopefully home before 2:00 a.m.

Debbie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - part of the reason the shelves fell down, is not because Bob didn't put them up sturdily - he did. It was because this room is shifting, due to the block on our mobile shifting...... But, it still pays to have things done that you can, regardless of people coming by. It's just that it takes something like this to happen to get Bob moving on some stuff.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhh Suse, just checked out photo's of your new wheels, nice truck, is your the crew cab?? Color please..no wonder Moses likes it, he'll have the entire back seat to himself..we always put a cover over the box so we could used it for transporting things as well..you will love it

http://m.nissan.ca/Cars.aspx?vt=Trucks

Yes, I've had a good day, really didn't do much!! Got my hair cut, picked up some supplies and now eating Kentucky fried chicken...Greg was suppose to come and do something that is too heavy for me but his SIL's mom passed away, wake tonight and funeral tomorrow..nothing urgent, likely something I can do on my own.

Not sure I sall do anything though, laying on the chesterfield here listening to several of neighbors lawnmowers going is enough to make me sleep. Lol

Always tomorrow they say!

Debbie, glad there wasn't a big dental bill today, but not so good it's your jaw..soft foods, hmmm ideas please, want you eating all the right things. Imagine Shane will make good tips tonight or do they get tips when it's a wedding...now you haven't spoken of the child for a bit?? She adapting to living alone?

If nothing else Susan, you will have shelves to display your treasures again.

Think I should lay here and do nothing???

Ok I will

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hey Betty - why not? It's not something you're familiar with, so go ahead and take a break and do nothing.

Well, today I got to meet ViolaAnn. Didn't hang around long, as it was a memorial for her DH's aunt, and of course there was family stuff going on after the service and I didn't want to intrude, but gee it was nice to meet her. She's lovely.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's exciting Susan! Keep getting the feels as you hop to here, there all the time that Calgary is small?? Know it's a city..or is it that when you went to see Carol it was almost in your neighborhood and now Ann..but then Ann said it the service she attended today was near the hospice.

Tomorrow the Kewatin comes home..if there weren't thousands coming I'd go but think I'll wait and go see her when she's docked and operational as tourist attraction.

Sailor is snoring like crazy..speaking of furries, aunt Muriel after spending all that money had to have her furry's left eye removed yersterday..quite upset she is..won't be telling my mom!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

No, Calgary is anything but small......... it's a large city. Not as big as Toronto, but everyone "moves" around here. Actually, I've always been a "mover" and so are you - after all, look how far you go to work?!?!
I live in the NE side of the city, not far from downtown, and Carol lived in the SW, not far from downtown.
Downtown isn't that big really. And the city can't build to the west anymore, because of the foothills.
s'funny - when you're downtown, you can walk to all 4 quadrants of the city in 1/2 hour, cuz they all meet in the downtown core lol
Once you go from the Airport (extreme NE) to the horse ranches (some in the extreme SW), you can take, without traffic, 1 1/2 hours to cross. If you run into traffic.............Well!!
And that's not talking about the rural areas that are meeting Calgary when they both build outwards..... Okotoks, Airdrie, Cochrane and Strathmore. They're sure creeping towards one another......

Victoria Harbour, ON

fair size Susan, it's amazing, spent younger years in Toronto and yet I visit and see its grown beyond boundaries..at one time you left Rexdale where I lived and travelled almost to Barrie before seeing anything, now you are lucky to see wide open spaces.

Just about ready to call it a night..don't you find the less you do the more tired you are?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yup, not huge, but fair size. It grows UP a lot more than Winnipeg, which sprawls out.....

I do, Betty - when I do more, I get energized!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty regarding "the child" I don't have much positive to say right now....its not that good,

No worries about the foods, I have that under control and it is just the next few days over weekend til I see him Wednesday.

Graduation down at the school tonight, hard to believe it has been a year since DS graduated. Bet he would like a do-over about now!
Yes he should get tips....especially if he is tending bar. AND they give a "gratuity tip" for the wait staff to split.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am in San Antonio for Dr. appointments. I saw my ortho Dr. today, and after more x rays and exam, I was told I do not not need hip or knee surgery, as the pain is coming from my back. I do have arthritis, but not bad enough for surgery he said, so I got a shot in the hip for my bursitis, and he said he hopes that works. He told me not to have more back surgery, as it may make things worse! he gave me a script for Celebrex, and told me to try that for a bit.
I will be back home tomorrow afternoon.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !
Betty - GOOD POINT... yes I do need to see the REAL Canada ! If all goes well....
Love your Caulk Angel... but you've got to hand it to yourself... you sure don't wait around for folks to do for you and you've done so much for yourself. Can you come over tomorrow and help work on the Model A ??? LOL...

Suse - Congrats on the new TRUCK ! Yes Ill bet Mose is happy... You are right on the Gardens. Watch...everyone here tomorrow and probably not ONE Hibiscus Bloom! The one that had 13 blooms at one time... and nothing in the works for tomorrow... LOL.....

Oh Debbie "The Child". I'm truly not even speaking to my DSD's today. So fed up with them. Can't wait for school to start. All these people coming to my house tomorrow and my friend came in to clean Thurs. All they had to do was pick up their clothes and she would have cleaned their bathroom. Nope too much to ask. Even after a stellar vacation. (Fuming)

LK - I LOVE Celebrex. When I was prescribed it was before it went off the market and you couldn't find it for a while...

My cough seems to be coming back I don't like even typing that hoping it doesn't become a self fulfilling prophesy.

Will go back on prevacid seems to help.

I'm totally exhausted. Work today then walmart then came home and made a HUGE Potato salad and etc. for tomorrow. I don't make that very often so I mixed 2 different recipes as I could not make up my mind.

I think it came out okay...

Hugs,
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, what a gorgeous morning, am sure the day will be much of the same! Coffee in hand I walked the gardens and then watered the planters, mnever know if I give them too little or too much lol

Rain tomorrow which means I shall have to cut all the grass today, not much anything else needs done outside other than that..

LindaKay, bet you have mixed feelings about the diagnosis..when in so much pain you want it to be something they can operate and be pain free, but then, if meds/excercize and diet can help and not take the chance you could be worse off pain wise then you must try.how are you feeling about it?

Mary, today is your big day, you've fretted, worked, talked to the gardens and now it's time for you to enjoy the day..

Get the guggle out early this morning and give them chores..school is still a long way away. Hope you survive the summer

Was thinking of Katie as well, wonder if she's had her operation and has someone to look after her..

Bev waving, hooe you can drop in with a photo or two.

Debbie, sorry to hear the child is still giving you grief! Taking this trip just you and Paul I think will do you the world of good..know you likely are dreading leaving kids and furries but I'll share mine with you..it will be okay, I promise.

Won't it be nice to see Dianne..am sure she as well is overwhelmed with thought of coming but she'll be with friends..only thing she should be apprehensive about is sore ribs from the hugs.

Haven't seen you post in a few days Jean, you been working hard in the gardens I'll bet.

Nice looking out as i sit on back deck looking out at the gardens this morning, birds are chirping, not as many as there were, gardens are very Yellow (no more yellow plants planted) listening to the sounds of the ponds, think I'll just sit here all day..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Would love to join you Betty but I'm off to meet up with Cher (cheriffic) from the sewing thread. We only live about 1.5 to 2 hours away so we picked a meeting spot that is good for both of us. Can't wait to see her.. She is putting together a cancer ribbon quilt for her Dad and one to raffle. Several of us have made blocks for her. I'm anxious to see it.

Talked with Thea yesterday for a while. She sends love and hugs to all. She is having computer problems - that's why she hasn't been posting. We may try to meet up again before I have my surgery. We shall see what the doc says about traveling again first. If I can't then we will surely do it after!!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day....

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning Ladies.

Betty, I started as a "lurker" and guess I will always be one...grin Been really busy and lots on my mind....tend to "keep my own counsel" til I figure things out. Arthritis has reared its' rude little head, own fault, pushed myself beyond where I knew to quit....and another round of sinusitis...darn weed pollen and dust.

Linda Kay, amazing how one part of the body can cause major grief to another part, eh? My doctor gives me Mobic when I need it...(meloxicam). I take the lowest dose and only for a few days at a time. It works really well for me.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000173/

Debbie, just keep telling yourself, This too shall pass....good thoughts to you.

Suse...isn't a new vehicle a wonderful feeling? Congrats to you...I am sure Moses approves your choice...GRIN

Mary. I hope you have a grand day...and they get some work done on your ModelT...maybe post a couple pics of the Grand Mechanics....grin

Barb, have a wonderful visit and do be careful.

Good thoughts to you all...I did get a chance to get out with the camera....I love the look of Asclepias seeds

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, hope you are enjoying your day with Cher..am sure you both will be feeding off each other's sewing knowledge! When speaking to Thea please give her our best!

Jean, what a fantastic photo, almost mystic looking! NOT familiar with Asclepius, do you have a photo before it in seed? Don't be a lurker girl, we've all adopted you.. Sorry that your arthritis is back and you are in pain..am sure rain and humidity doesn't help.

Oooh Jean, never thought of asking Mary to show us eye candy.. Sure would be nice to see some.

Rather nice sitting on back deck with tunes playing but Got to cut more grass, then use the trimmer if I can get it started

Gab in a bit

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Betty...but as you know, old habits die hard...grin
The plant is Asclepias curassavica....food for the many butterflies here in La. Commonly called milkweed

Hmmm, we have milkweed but for the life of me I don't recall it being such a pretty orange when in bloom..will have to keep an eye out. Does it also have long hard pods that they spray gold and make not angel wings??

Don't want to put pressure on you but know you've friends here should you feel up to visiting..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, we do have it as a wildflower as well, perhaps I was thinking of something different with the long pods

http://ontariowildflowers.com/main/species.php?id=83

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, there are many species of milkweeds, and butterflies like them all!

I am back home, it was a quick trip, but a nice one!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you are home safe and somewhat content with the outcome. Lordy, you've put a lot of miles on that vehicle..lol. Have to call you Betty..

One of these days if I can find another corner to dig, would love to plant wild flowers only..right now I have some but I pick them as weeds.

Thing about cutting grass in small segments it takes all day..

Should be doing something but here I am, laying on the chesterfield watching tv..kick me off the couch please

Ouch

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Betty. I have always been a listener...interjecting when I feel I have something of value to contribute. I have always felt welcome here, thanks to you all.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Hi everyone. Thanks for the pretty pictures Betty. Here is one that I grew from seed. This is it's second year. I think it is going to be a good one. HUGS BEV

Oh Bev, thanks for dropping in, we miss and worry about you. Hoping all is well with you..as we walk my gardens next week, I'm sure Debbie and I will speak of yours and the feeling of being at peace while walking through them!

Now when you grow from seed, can you give them a name?
