I have seen "boy" fairy gardens where they have done medieval theme with dragons and stuff, you did say 1 of your grandsons helps you right?
Shopping spree #12
They all help me dig and carry whenever they come here. Not too fond of planting or arranging plants. The younger ones do have their own Medieval castles, knights and horses.
The setting under the hydrangeas is wonderful, Jen.

You beat me by a few, Pixie.....saw clem Andromeda on Brushwood site....may have to get it!
I noticed that the WFF cat has gone downhill. It has lost it's place as the nicest garden catalog and joined the ranks of those that I don't even bother to read before putting in the circular file. But their prices have gone the other way.
I placed a small order with Bluestone as they had a few things I wanted that were on sale and they had a discount for placing an early order. I wanted another Exochorda to add to the garden as the one we have (different cultivar) is currently in Bloom. Pretty shrub in the dead of winter. Patti

Plant near a window to enjoy the lovely fragrance and rich golden foliage with amethyst-blue spikes. Provides both foliage and flower color in the heat of summer, then continues right into fall. A dramatic display planted in masses.
I got the Salvia Swan Lake last year from Bluestone. It grew well but didn't bloom. It didn't go in until mid-June, maybe that made a difference? People rave about it, so I'm very much looking forward to seeing it do its thing this year.
Curious how large sunshine blue is patti - it will self seed a little - i noticed several here along with a summer sorbet - plan to pot them up in the spring.
Thanks for the reminder about Bluestone, coupons expire soon
ordered 3 hellebores from the new Winter Jewels collection and viburnum compacta
I have a hyacinth blooming indoors right now, a potted one from last spring that I never planted and found sprouting under the deck when I did fall clean up.
Rcvd FW catalog yesterday.
I just found out that I have free shipping on my next order with Bluestone because there is a back-ordered plant. Whoopee!
My Golden Shadows really took off this year. Must be 12 or more feet high now.
Got my RF catalog today too, drooling!
Got my normal one today. Had received one a few days back because of the gift cert.
I gotta have this, there's no pic on line but it's in the catalog

I can't stop thinking tropical. Windmill palms and a huge selection of elephant ears and other exotics are available through Plants Delights Nursery. Anyone here using them? Really beautiful catalog, and a few more dollars on the usual plants. Still, over a page just for different Lady's slippers...
That brings to mind a question. Anyone here growing a baobab? I tried to start seeds when I had little kids, so you know what didn't make it. I want to try again.
You should live in the tropics, Rosemary...LOL...no, never tried a baobab. That white salvia caught my eye, may have to order it....
Bad experience with Plant Delights years ago. Would never buy from the again.
Really!
And yes, I'd have no problem spending winter in the tropics. I was reading the National Geographic description of Granada's national forests recently.
i was looking at that blue wisteria - it is not supposed to be aggressive
That's good, because I need to keep after the one in front of the house that is formed into a tree. Keeps sending out tentacles that want to touch the ground when I'm not looking.
Kind of disappointed that Fairweather's conifer offerings are noticeably smaller this year. Rarefind not much better. Bummer.
Maybe you own them all already? I wish I could plant more, but the deer eat most of them and they are pricey gems. Patti
Did you compare the catalog to what they offer online? seems they put more on their website than in the catalog
Yes. Looks same to me.
victor check out Klehm's on line catalog - there were a lot of conifers - they even had a couple pinus that caught my attention and I typically do not care for them.
Thanks. Do you like them? Ordered before?
very good quality - order something from them every year, graniteguiess (sp) orders from them as well - i have found that they need to be re-potted or planted when they arrive as the bark chips they are grown in are poress so unless you plan on watering daily get them in some dirt. just look under woody plants as they do not seperate them into conifers.
I got some conifers from Klehms last spring. They were at least as large as the other mail order ones, but i ordered because they had some improved native ones.
I haven't ordered from them, but they a beautiful catalog....love their peonies....
I have been very happy with Bloom River. Their stuff is very big and developed.
There was a message on my phone when I got home today from Scheeper's...the envelope (with my return address) arrived in Bantam....it was open, & nothing in it....glad my credit card info is out there in Post Office Land.....I'm happy they opened the phone book & tracked me down....
I would cancel the CC.. they will issue you a new one
Robindog, glad they found you, now you have to deal with the possibility that your cc is being used by someone else. Horrible thought. Son thinks he lost his wallet yesterday in NYC while biking home from work. He cancelled his cards but such a pain. Good luck.
This past year DH got a call from a store in RI that tracked us down via the internet to ask if his wife had just ordered via the phone 5000.00 worth of flat screen TV's to be shipped to Minn. DH asked me about it and I gave him one of those looks. You crazy? He called immediately and cancelled the cc and as the store hadn't run the card all was OK and no other charges had gone through. The people from the store later called us back and said the phone call was traced to back to Nigeria. Scam for sure. I have no idea how they got my cc number. Patti
Hooboy!!! Not fun at all!
