Nice list Allison. Can't wait to see your list when they have their 1/2 priced specials.

One of my orders consisted of those "Hot Lips". I actually bought them in plant form which I rarely do with plants that are "iffy" in my zone. Can't wait to see them bloom.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I love Hot Lips!

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

I should really get some Hot Lips Seed and winter sow them. If I decide to do this, I'll have way more plants than I need. Can you grow them there if you protect them, Pixie?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I can grow them as an annual, they die by Sept./Oct. unless I did them up and bring them in. :)

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

If I decide to do this, I'll let you know how successful they grow during winter sow. I have saved some great packaging from Santa Rosa Gardens and wouldn't mind sending some to you.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

OH thank you!

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

I'm finding out that seeds are hard to come by. If anyone finds a vendor, I'd appreciate knowing about it. It seems that the plant itself won't produce seed if the hummingbirds have been to active on them. I think eventually, my plants would be able to be split. In any case, let me know if seed for this is found.

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

Read that it's easy to root cuttings. I'll try this if the plant is big enough.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ever see these? I love the color, they claim hummers flock to it and it blooms within 2 months of planting!!!
Allison, any thoughts, comments about this one??

That's one I haven't grown, but my blue & pink salvias brought the hummers in like crazy last summer! Allison, nice list!

Norwich, CT(Zone 6a)

I heard that the Victoria Blue Salvia is the best Salvia to grow.
Do you have any experience with this one?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Celeste that looks like the dark purple one you gave me last year.. they grow quick & easy.. the hummers love them

I love Victoria blue.. but the flowers are tiny tiny tiny .. didn't see too many on those.. have to many better choices.. LOL

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

think this is the one you gave me last year

I used to grow Salvia Victoria Blue every year from seed and plant several in groups here and there in the garden. They bloom until hard frost, and add nicely to bouquets. I'm doing them this year again after a long hiatus. At one point I thought I had too many Perennial Salvias and Veronicas, but they aren't quite the same. I'm doing the white this year, too.

Thomaston, CT

Sounds like a nice selection, Pam. The salvias that the hummers liked best were Black & Blue, & 2 noid ones I brought back from my friend's farm in NH.....

Love the hot lips! can't seem to find any seeds either Teri.
I like the Victoria but have to agree with Allison, tiny tiny flowers. Saw lots of butterflies on them but never any hummers. they do last, one of the latest flowers, still has blooms in November.

This is a macro so you can see how tiny they would look in the garden. nice if you have them massed together .
