Drinking lots yes, feet up.....not so much. BUT not over doing it. Have the fans on and windows open. We have another huge storm moving in.

Last night one moved through about 5:00...took quite a few trees down, one almost took out DH driving home from store! No lie, thank heavens he saw it falling and was able to swerve and break in the right place. came home and had to call 911 to alert ER crews the road was 3/4 blocked. It is gone this morning, can't even tell there was a huge oak there except where stump was leveled.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sure didn't get the storm you got..worry that the large trees out front would come down..thank goodness Paul was alert watchful otherwise who knows what would have happened! Glad you you are drinking your fluids, not easy, I had to drink 4 glasses of fluids before going in for tests and that was a lot.

Too funny, got home, saw a pair of sandles sitting near the pond, thought that was odd..came in, knew someone had been here as the pillow on the couch were moved and towels on the bannister?? Huh?? Out came Cathy from washroom, Guess she had a shore, lol. Ice cube bag wrapped in a towel on pillow where she was resting her foot, she said she overdid yesterday, was out for a bike ride and felt she should rest it..open doors mean all welcome right..

Glad she is behaving, lets hope Liz is behaving as well!

Had the telephone put back to me so am on duty 50 more minutes..

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

You kids are chatty. Get well soon, Debbie.
My back lawn needs mowing but who's looking. lol.

Yesterday I became the old guy who passed everyone going up the hill on their bikes. Eat my dust. I smiled for hours after. Some dude half my age tried to keep up but......
Andy P

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm so laughing Andy, can see you smiling from here! Bet is feels wonderful to outdo the young ones. Lol. Keep on trekking..imagine up hill at that..you've to be commended on your biking for a better health.

Speaking of health, while at the hospital waiting for my test I felt dizzy, just like when I passed out at Christmas..laying down I felt room turning..nurse told me to sit and I wasn't to leave intil dizziness left..sat for about 15 minutes then headed home (10 minutes away) when I got here Cathy was here so we chatted, I said I was dizzy so just sat, thought maybe if I ate something I'd feel better, shortly after still dizzy..wondered if it could be blood pressure? No monitor so called across the street to find out if Cliff and Bernice had one, started to walk across the street and here comes Cliff with the monitor..I'm to wait a bit before doing it as he thought my rushing about would give me false reading so here I sit, relaxing waiting to take blood pressure..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh Betty - good to have talked to you! Glad you're resting before taking your BP reading!
It absolutely Could be BP that's causing you to be dizzy!

Andy! lol "the old guy who passed everyone" Love it!! Keep it up, young man, and you'll be going when you're 150 yo
LOL

Verona, ON

Love it Andy ... you old geezer you!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Andy, you keep smiling, you deserve it!
Betty, blood pressure can and will cause dizziness, and headaches.

Victoria Harbour, ON

nope it's was 156 then 131 on second reading so not the problem, who knows, might be the rushng around this morning..anyway, good night's sleep is a cure all.

Dianne, did you find your paperwork? You'll be swimming tomorrow, suppose to be a hot humid day! Furries will want to stay in with you..

Night night everyone

Lyndonville, NY

What was the bottom number love?

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Betty (HUGS) MIL Is doing well - we spent a couple hours with her yesterday... She goes back for a check up tomorrow but so far I believe everything has gone smoothly...

THEA THEA THEA ! So happy to see you. YES - DIanne needs to ride her bike up to visit you ... so you can check on her and tell us she is fine....

Verona, ON

No Betty I did not find my paper work. After tearing my den apart my stupid pill started to wear off and I had a aha moment so I just went online to Service Canada reprinted the forms so I can get them out tomorrow. I didn't realize I only had 60 days to apply for the lump sum Death Benefit. Also didn't know I needed a certified marriage certificate. Certain people can certify the photocopy of my Marriage Certificate so will get my dentist to sign it tomorrow when I am there. Yes I have another go at the dentist tomorrow. He has me scheduled for 3 hours but I sure hope it doesn't take that long.

Echoing Debbie here Betty "what was the bottom number?" It is just as important as the top number. Betty you had better pace yourself here, none of us want to see you worked to the bone then too ill and tired to enjoy our get together. We're all coming to enjoy each other's company. Please remember that.

Still too soon to know if you can make it Crissy? I sure hope you can, I need to meet you....lol

Very quiet here tonight. Hope everyone is just having an enjoyable evening.

Dianne.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out Betty's bottom # for her BP

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all...what a sound and light show going on, Sailor is going wild..sure hope power stays on..should go in the basement and disconnect computer.

Mary glad your MIL is doing well and lets hope hope the doctor is thrilled with her recovery.

Sorry every one, hmmm don't know the bottom number, thought only top one mattered..know you told me this before..could have checked the monitor but I had Greg bring it back to Bernice last night.

Dianne, how odd that there is a deadline to apply for the lump sum benefit. The funeral home filled out all the paperwork for me, and also for Ann and Darlene.

Glad you were able to download what you needed from Internet, now watch, you will find them, always happens. Are the meds helping you sleep?

honest gals, not been working hard for the visit, grounds only get regular cutting and weeding..inside, same, regular cleaning, only disaster area is my craft room and you'll just have to take as is..only concern I have is most of my pretties won't be in bloom but that is ok, you can enjoy the shades of green....

Time for coffee

Pacifica, CA

yes im behaving one week no smoking,
board silly working on small things, cant wait to go to work next week lol

waving to all

Lyndonville, NY

Liz, I am so proud of you not smoking for a week. Small steps, but we need to keep you healthy.

Betty, yes that bottom number is VERY important, possibly more so than the top one.

We had the same light show last night, horrible storm went through and I was pacing right along with Sailor girl. Izzy slept right through it,no problems. Power went off several times, DH did shut off the power strips to protect. Looks like another band of them coming from Wisconsin area thru Michigan and here tomorrow maybe. This one looks much bigger than the storm just passed. Eeeewwww!!

Have the AC on, my coffee made and I think I might be a sloth today...moving very slow with this heat!

Have a good day,
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Waving Liz..proud of you as well..glad you took the time off work, gives your body time to heal..sit and play with jewelery..lol

Glad the girls are at the house painting today, will keep Sailor company as we might have an afternoon..not looking forward to another storm moving through Debbie..good day to stay in!!!

Debbie, stopped in at WalMart this morning to get a reading, bit dizzy but now that I'm just sitting I'm fine..my morning reading

Betty, according to the mayo clinic site, your numbers are on the high side...

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/blood-pressure/HI00043

Here's a look at the four blood pressure categories and what they mean for you. If your readings fall into two different categories, your correct blood pressure category is the higher category. For example, if your blood pressure reading is 125/95 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg), you have stage 1 hypertension.

Top number (systolic) in mm Hg Bottom number (diastolic) in mm Hg Your category* What to do**
Below 120 and Below 80 Normal blood pressure Maintain or adopt a healthy lifestyle.
120-139 or 80-89 Prehypertension Maintain or adopt a healthy lifestyle.
140-159 or 90-99 Stage 1 hypertension Maintain or adopt a healthy lifestyle.
If blood pressure goal isn't reached in about six months, talk to your doctor about taking one or more medications.
160 or more or 100 or more Stage 2 hypertension Maintain or adopt a healthy lifestyle. Talk to your doctor about taking more than one medication.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks LindaKay, next appointment I'll talk to Dr. Jilesen, maybe the pills I'm on need to be changed..

How is Todd doing?? any more news on changes re his hearing?

Lyndonville, NY

Yes, Linda is right. They are not over the top...but keep an eye on them. Have you gotten salt out of your diet...including soda, even diet soda is VERY high in sodium.

Keep the fluids in you, but healthy ones!

Victoria Harbour, ON

that's got to be the downfall...oh/oh going to have Mother Hens watching over me for 4 days..will have to clean a closet so I can hide inside so I don't get caught eating/drinking what I shouldn't.

Lordy it wasn't a nice ride in this morning..don't know if you have in your areas 'big object pick up', we have it once a year, means you can put anything and everything near the curb and municipality picks it all up. People started to put things out since last Tuesday, yuk not very nice to look at..in the meantime, while waiting for township trucks independent people drive up and down the street looking for metal, guess you make a good amount of money on metal..anyway, last night I saw a truck filled to the brim picking something up from across the street, I went out and asked if they would take a large cement mixer..was the only garbage I had to rid myself of, said yes, moved things around in the truck, went out back and took it..oh happy days, I was thrilled..now I just have to burn the debris in the firepit, put wood for our fire at the gathering and I'm all set!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

CONGRATULATIONS LIZ!!! Been there, done that - quit, that is. It isn't easy, but finding your triggers and either don't do what triggers you to smoke and not do them, /or modify them. "they" say that if you can do something (or not do something) it becomes a habit, so you're 1/3 there!!!

Betty - isn't it wonderful to have friends who care enough about you to research your BP? So, cutting back on the salt is a goooooood thing - and processed foods are full of salt and sugar! If you're eating Chinese foods, they would contain a lot of salt (MSG too). Watch out for soya sauce, etc.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hang in there, Liz. It's much better to quit voluntarily than see a Dr standing over your chest with a shiny scalpel & stainless steel instruments all lined up.
25 months for me after 50 years of smoking. It isn't easy but you will feel so much better.

Lyndonville, NY

Andy, I am so SO proud of you also!!

Tomorrow is the anniversary of my moms passing.....and she died from lung cancer. So please...stick with the program, I do not want any of you to suffer that
road in life.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

It's been 12 years for me...... and it feels so clean! I wish our 78 yo friend would quit. He smokes in his room (lives in a friend's house and several people have rented rooms within the house), and outside the car when we give him a ride, or on our deck when he's visiting. Says "only 1/2 cigarette at a time" but still.........
Maybe I should send him a link to www.albertaquits.ca ........... :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm sure it's not easy to quit, so glad I never started...I harp on Jeff, he's so health conscious, bike/kayak/walking and yet he stands with cigarette in his mouth..

Debbie, hard day for you tomorrow, sending hugs to get you through

Andy, what an achievement, you sure have turned your life around (and for the best)!

Sad to say Carol "FancyVan" is now walking in the gardens of heaven..she'll be missed

Susan, sending you hugs, know this has taken an emotional toll on you..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Betty....... Carol was a lovely, elegant lady and hostess. Nothing more can be said.

Verona, ON

Well you all know my feelings about lung cancer but please let me give you smokers a bit of advice. DON'T be so hard on yourself if you stop and then pick up a smoke a few hours later, the next day, whatever. The fact of the matter is that you DID stop and you will be able to stop again. The timing has to be right. Everything has to be in the right position for you and you alone. Santa Warren quit several times before he was finally successful. All that time I never said a word to him as I knew how hard he was struggling. He once said that even if he did want to start to smoke again he couldn't face me as I never badgered him about quiting just kept saying it was his choice. Hopefully those around you will be encouraging without pressuring you.

huge hugs to you Debbie I know how hard tomorrow will be for you.
Time to get ready to leave for the dentist's.... woooo hooo......not!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about Carol passing! Sending prayers to the family!

Dianne, sure hope your dentist visit is an easy one!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

She only had a brother in Ontario, I believe. No family in Calgary. Lots of friends and neighbours though. She was involved in a huge community of volunteers, both at Lougheed House, and Sheltie Rescue.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Peace to Carol, Prayers and condolences to those who knew and loved her.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You back from the dentist Dianne???

Just back from lunch, lordy it IS HOT out there..thank goodness it rained last night or the grass would be burnt!!

Lyndonville, NY

Hot as anything here too Betty. Nice breeze, but it is a very hot one. Least the air is moving. I just went out and put cool water in the birdbath....there was a line for drinks!

Victoria Harbour, ON

storm just passing through, wicked, power out in the mall, will be leaving shortly..watch out Debbie it's coming your way!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

There's a thread that DG Admin created for Carol - in the Memory Garden Forum, called FancyVan (Carol Vanvelzer).
Sorry, I don't have the link, but it's there..........
