great info Debbie...how's the headache

Lyndonville, NY

It is bad...

DH is home today so that isn't helping. Too many hours, mandatory day off for him.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Debbie - you're a dear! As I don't see the size of the tires on the sidewall (I looked, but only has the tire pressure....... ) I'm going to measure them and see which comes to the closest - 24 to 27"......... then I can figure it out.
Thanks so much

Hope your headache gets better soon...........

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

o wow - I just called around to other bike shops, and there's one that will order them in, for $65!!!! they will fit up to 26", so all I have to do is take my bike in and they will what the size of my tires is!!!

You really "got me going" to check it out. I'd Love to learn how to ride, f'sure!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

LK, sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday on your special day. SO, I'LL DO IT UP RIGHT NOW....Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Linda Kay, happy birthday to you!!!!!! ^_^

Lyndonville, NY

Susan, you will love riding. My Mom rode everywhere....up until the fall before she passed. She was 73....and she went everywhere. Never drove in her life.

I have her bike out in the garage, and soon as I feel comfortable will be on hers...or mine...and traveling around here with my camera. I can ride fine...it is that "stopping" issue and putting sudden weight on my legs as still some nerve issues. BUT it is something I have on my "doing this summer" list.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ok....... will speak to my DH about taking me and my bike there to see about getting it measured for "wheels" lol
I'm not nervous about most things, but this............. ah well, we'll see how silly I feel when I've learned and ask myself "why didn't I do this earlier?"

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Susan, hold a flashlight low at the sidewall (like a sunset) the lettering will show long shadows to be visible.
You know about Quick Release wheels? There's a lever at the hub of each wheel. The front wheel is easy to get on & off for transporting. You may have to release the brake cable at the brake end to slip the wheel through the calipers. Have the bike guy show you this, watch him working.
I was at the LBS (Local Bike Shop) last week for some chain cleaner & lubricant. He was working on a rear wheel & showed me how to clean & lube the cassette (all those gears) then casually slipped the wheel back into place with the chain gliding on like nothing. I have to learn basic maintenance, plain & simple. My chain etc was filthy with grit everywhere. Oil is sticky holding any sand or dust that touches it. The 'dry' stuff is wet going on but dries not sticky leaving a clean steel gray chain.
Today's 8.6 miles left me feeling great. It's a rush I tell ya.

Susan - so proud of you for taking on the BIKE CHALLENGE!

Barb ((HUGS)) Hope it was an incredible night !

Hey Crissy !

Deb ! Love you all... just checking in...

Betty - that place looks like it is RIGHT on Jackson Square which will be amazing....

Hugs,
Mary

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'll go to my local LBS and see what I need to do to maintain it, and to slip off the front wheel..........
I think, for $65, I could actually afford to go bike riding (or.......... Learn, anyway lol)

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh now Mary....... don't go making a big thing of it, or I may get nervous and pull back........... I'm going to take baby steps...... 1st, get my bike fitted with trainers, then see how my knee is......... still healing from the sprain in April 2011!! Mind you, I've been losing some weight, and walking, so it's feeling better. I know that biking will help it even more, but don't expect miracles in my learning to ride......... bit by bit...........

Verona, ON

Now Susan you have me all fired up to get a bike. Just saw this week's ad from Zellers and they have bikes on sale with free assembly. Maybe I will go have a look this weekend..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

They even have me riding a bike at rehab!!! Granted, it doesn't go anywhere and being attached to an 02 tube I wouldn't want it to. But I'm doing it!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, , sunshine day in my neighorhood, working from home so can play in the gardens but lawnmower is too loud to hear the telephone..was outside at 6am and though perfect time to do the lawns, doubtsul neighbors would agree..was watering the hanging planters when Bernice and Cliff passed by, they were off somewhere getting early start to the day.

Dianne, do you have an area you could ride a bike..gues your laneway? Barb fantastic that you are even trying a stationary bike! Andy, before you knnow it we'll be biking your way..

I've no excuse, bought new bike last year and there it sit, worse part is, Ive fantastic paved trails which tie me to Waubaushene/Midland/Penetang and shortly to Orillia and trail system starts at the corner here..who knows, maybe early tomorrow morning I'll take a half hour jaunt before. It will either tire me out or provide me with energy to pick those weekds...

OMG, I've pulled out wheelbarrel after wheelbarel of weeds and they are gaining ground again..must be a day of rain and a day of sunshine that feeds them.

My goal today is finish my bedroom stained glass piece so I can get the caming done, pick up 6 bags of red mulch (sure hope they have some left) fix the little side table that is in the back forty..needs woodworking attention then a dap of paint, dreaming here that I'll get all done and if I can squeeze in a few minutes need the live birdhouse roof reinforced so I can plan chicken and hens..

Wonder how Judy and Liz's fared, if the succulents are growing wells in their roof?

Suse, sending hugs

So there is my day..Linda Kay I imagine is still sunning on the Texas coast..how about all of you anything exciting planned? even if not, what are your goals of the day ? Maybe I'm the only weird lady who sets daily goals????? tell me I'm crazy

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm off shoppoing for Father's Day. Be back later......

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you Betty, for telling me about your neglected bike....... now I don't feel so bad. Always feel "odd" when I tell people I don't know how to ride a bike - I get Such Odd Looks.......... esp when they say "it's like riding a bike - you never forget".........DUH?!?!?! or "It's easy - like rolling off a log" Who wants to roll off a log?!?!?! LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Nope Betty I set goals, don't always get to them but at least they're set lol!

I'm signing a Father's Day card and mailing it and working to get my desk cleared by 4:30 this afternoon.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I suggest that anyone interested in buying a bike to be sure to test ride it first. Very important. It has to fit you not the other way around. If the dealer will not help set you up & test ride, find another shop.
Susan, is there a kid in your family with a bike? Kids bikes are smaller & low to the ground which make them easier to ride. Think 'center of gravity', your adult bike sits you way up there where it's hard to balance. Just a thought.
Andy P

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

My bike was fitted to me - short legs y'know lol
They had to get the smallest one they could - almost kid's size cuz I'm just over 5' and 16" of it is my back..........
And they lowered the seat besides!

I was just on the phone with my DD - it's her 36th birthday....... I just wanted to hug her, I miss her so much.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Tell her happy birthday! You've got great suggestions Andy..when I'm in search of a better quality ride I'll be looking you up!

Barb, buy something nice after all Norm is super special.

Mega drats, Judy d-mailed me that Liz (Lizrainey) had a heart attack and is in hospital. I called Liz, she is in good spirits, not thrilled with giving up smoking/eating rich foods but knows she must do. they put a stint and she believes she may get to go home today. Kenny I'm sure will keep a close eye on her antics..lol

Can't believe she worked all day without going to the hospital, thought it was indigestions

Another stubborn one

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Andy - forgot to mention - all my family is in Winnipeg, thousands of miles from me......

omy.......... a heart attack - good thing they've already operated and give her a better diet without cigarettes!!
Not surprising she thought it was just indigestion........ that's normal
another stubborn one............ you couldn't be talking about yourself could you? LOL

Forgot to mention, my DD's MIL is having surgery today - she has lung cancer. Winnipeg isn't her home city, and her DH is at home on the farm. He's more comfortable at home than at his DIL and son's home........ and his wife had prepared all the food he needs to keep himself fed. I won't pretend to understand why he won't be in the same city as his wife when she's having this surgery. Although my DD said he's a person who, if there's someone to "do" for him, won't do anything for himself. He's a lovely person, but I wouldn't want to be married to him LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Prayers going out Susan in hopes the operation goes well!
Blasted cancer..

had my thing sof projects and have so gone off in other directions, still I remain positive that before I hit the sack I might get them done

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

apparently my DD's MIL's surgery went well.
Betty - are you at work, or home? I sent an email to both addresses......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone! We are back home, and we had a wonderful time, no schedule, we did what we wanted, when we wanted. Went back and forth to the beach, found wonderful beef taco's for lunch, back to the beach, then back to the room for showers, and went to a place called Doc's for dinner. Right on the water. I had shrimp, Todd had oysters!!!
We say several man o war jelly fish on the shore line.
The kids went fishing on the pier, and Mary Anne caught a shark.

So glad you had a good time, LK. You would have been hard pressed to get much closer to the beach...looks like the kids had a grand time. So, from your dinner pic, this was the 39th Birthday? grin

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I told everyone it is the 28th anniversary of my 29th! Birthday!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh tell Liz that I hope she feels better soon! Yes some heart attacks feel exactly like indigestion, no pain or numbing down the arm or anything, those are the ones that often go undetected.

Yeah Linda! Looks like a great time!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LK - sounds like you had a terrific time!! yummmm can just "taste" the seafood!!
a Shark? WOW - she must have been Thrilled!

Victoria Harbour, ON

lordy LindaKay, you'll be wanting to do this every birthday. Beautiful view and look at those grandchildren..you can see they are enjoying every minute of it...Lovely photo of you and Todd..great looking couple.

Just back from town, all the fixing for spaghetti sauce for the gathering..was going to start it tonight, at least make the meatballs but nope, will wait until tomorrow.

Was going to finish the stained glass piece, it's camed, just need soldering around the globs but that too will wait until tomorrow...lots of tomorrow projects right? lol

Crissy, here's hoping some sunshine comes into your life this weekend. Will be speaking to Liz and will send your regards.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm so sorry to hear about Liz. Please send her regards from me as well. It's truly amazing what they can do now for heart patients. She is most fortunate.
Glad your b'day was so great LK. You deserve it.

Pacifica, CA

THANKS GIRLS AND AM HAPPY TO REPORT IM HOME AND DOING GOOD.
sorry for yelling lol, yes it was quite a episode. it was this Tuesday went to work as usual felt a ball in the middle of my chest thought for sure another attack of heartburn or acid reflex will be coming on.

throughout the day i would take tums, ginger ale, aloe liquid and prilosec, it would subside for a while then come back. so i got off at 6.15 got home around 6.45 Kenny had made breakfast for dinner i didnt eat much because i had the feeling of fullness thinking i was going to have to go to emergency and get fixed for acid indigestion and waste 200.00 because i ate something bad.

Kenny got on me at that point i was flopping all over the couch saying i just cant get comfortable and the burning i driving me nuts too my hands started to get heavy i became so nauseous i vomited then felt pain in my jaw and profusely started sweating.
so i called the advice nurse with my insurance and told her what had happened
she told me to go to emergency that women have so many symptoms.

were only 5 minutes to hospital so they hook me on a ekg looked at me and said yes your having a heart attack, i said your kidding right? so the prepped me and got me on all kinds of i.v's and stuff went to the other hospital the immediate put in a stint.

i was in a twilight sleep kept waking up but i didnt feel a thing.

the doctor came out to talk to everyone and the first one up was my sister the singing canary, tattletale, snitch, omg she couldn't wait to tell the doctor you know she takes hormone replacement, she smokes she fries food lives for fast food ect, doctor then explained that i was very lucky not to have damaged the heart wall and i was 100% clogged on one side all other sides look good. and it was from the cigarettes not the fatty food so much.

so reality hit, i got another chance to do it right so i decided cigarettes are going to be gone im going to some heart class in the hospital to exercise and learn how to incorporate better foods into my diet learned my lesson well dont assume go get it checked out. but i feel so much better since things got unclogged maby that was why i had no energy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhh happy dance Liz, nothing like being home..that is quite an experience and might teach all od us a lesson, NO PROCRASTINATING !

I burst out laughing at the canary! Too funny..

She didn't get to your house before you got home to rid the cupboards of your oil?

Thank goodness Kenny had the mind to make you go to the hospital or you might not be here to post.

Now Mother hen is going to ask you what you meant by
" so I decided cigarettes are Going to be gone" ? That leaves me to think there are still some in your house and no doubt girl in your purse. Going to call Kenny, truly am, bet Debbie will to when she learns of this...

Again, thank the Lord you live to tell of the experience. Hugs to Kenny for me! and girl, don't you be fighting to go to work before the doctor and not you decides you are well enough to do so..

Pacifica, CA

yes there is a full pack in the car and one in my bag i know someone who will smoke them. my mom came over today she just cut some weeds and picked lemmons and said its up to you now or this happens again and again.

no tomorrow the singing canary comes over she wont touch my spices oils ect dr said caniola would be ideal but i could finish up my corn oil decrease my fat intake 50 % eat more veggies and fruits
