۞Sweet Interruptions # 242۞

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Not many countries understand just how BIG N. America is. Friends of ours moved from Scotland, and came into Canada at Toronto Int Airport. Then they flew to their destination of Edmonton........ kept saying - aren't we There Yet? Just watching the ground go by was amazing to them as there was so much open field (farming) and so many big cities! lol
Also, when the folks back home heard how cold it got here said "Don't you freeze like meat in a meat locker?". They didn't realize the humidity in Scotland is much, much greater than Canada - we have a dry cold - so no, we don't freeze like a slab of meat LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You are so right Susan.
My brother thought that to save money, he'd buy a round trip ticket from Singapore to L.A. From L.A. to N.C., he'd buy a round trip BUS tickets..until he found out how many days that would take him.
He changed his mind and said.. "Meet you in Nice, Sis!"

just wait until the drive across texas ! LOL it never ends !!
well i have been very depressed the last week. i thought i had found a friend in my survivors support group but it just got ugly . So i m very very sad.
i really thought it would be nice to have a local friend to hang with and have so much in common ... boy was i wrong wrong wrong.
i have been very lonely
tomorrow i m going to see Cookie and that will cheer me up . i just need a cookie hug. her grands will be there so i will bring my rugrats too.
Jaye good for you taking a stand about eating healthier. and Kell too. he may fight if for the first few weeks but i know your a strong woman and won't give into it.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm waiting Suzy-Q!!! My Dad calls Sue, "Sweet Sue"..... cute.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's a right nickname for Sue, Cookie!
Give your dad a hug from us, and for Sue... hugs and KISSES on her cheeks (not the butt cheeks)!

Sue, oh how could you feel so alone when your presence is in all our thoughts and prayers!! Didn't you hear your sistahs whispering, we'll always support you, unconditionally?
Wait till Susan gets to sing to you, and recalling that sweet voice will put smiles on your face!
God has a way of processing our relationships, even with friends. Forgive that lady, she must be very insecure and need more prayers! You'll find better support locally, and there's always Cookie, your stalwart sistah.

Dark roasted coffee is ready. I'm kinda lazy today so it's just wheat toast and marmalade.

Was up at the break of dawn tending to weeds! Got out there and forgot about the mosquitoes, got bitten the first hour, rushed into the house, put on the citronella oil! No more bites since there.
Kel's getting a swing blade for the weeds that are as tall as him!
The rains had made the weeds much more resistant!!!!
Had to pull out much of the yard art and clean them. My hosta bed should be renamed dandelion heaven!

Thanks also for the heads up Sue.
Kel wasn't happy with his serving yesterday and disappeared for a while on the pretext of wishing his dad a HFD which he had already on Saturday! Lol!

Back to yard work.. have a wonderful week sistahs!

So the dogs think Annie's just another dog? I can't believe Annie has her own harness!!
Thanks for sharing, Sis Kathy.
Think you've forgotten to post a pic of what you got for the RWB from Faye. Can you kindly do so..
In the meantime, I'll be looking for the perfect recipe for stewed or bbq goat for you! Lol!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

AHHHH, how cute Kathy. My sister had always wanted a little goat so Ross bought her a couple of pygmy twins for a Christmas present one year. Oh the tales we had when they were small!!

Shame on you Jaye, no goat recipes.

The traveler is home....1 am this morning. Tired, excited and sleeping now.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awe Sis, that is so cute!

Marion, can't wait to hear some of her stories and pictures!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

those puppies are so roly-poly!!

yes, looking forward to Kim's stories & pics!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

What a vacation for Kim!! Thank God nothing else eventful happened. We'll be waiting for pics, Marion. As soon as she taught you how to download them!
The best lawnmower in the world are goats!!
Marion, fyi, I make the best goat curry :P

LK, have you practised on the dresden blades yet? I am glad Helene was the first to try. The plate doesn't look too scary anymore!!

Hi Susan! How are you sistah? Is it as hot there as it is here? We're in the high 80s but no breeze to cool us some.

Sue, have a wonderful day tomorrow with Cookie and her family.
Just don't brag about her brisket if that's what she's serving tomorrow.
Remembering how good that was!!!

Pegi.. Cindy.. I hope you both are enjoying a tolerable weather.

Gooooooooooood night sistahs. It's been a very rewarding day. Am naturally tired and ready for bed.
See you all in the morning!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

no, it's not hot here - we get 58F at night to 75F as the hottest. Today, it's nice, but switches between sunny and rainy.
I still miss Winnipeg temps...... would get up to 105, and the summer season is longer...... by 2 months!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

It's a lot cooler today than the last 3 days of 104

Taylor is having he tonsils removed tomorrow morning. My daughter is a nervous wreck, lol. I was going to meet them at the hospital until I found out they are going to UC Davis in Sac and not in Auburn. So my plans have changed I am going up to my friends and spend time planting the rest of flowers from Friday.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Saying prayers for your Granddaughter Taylor! She will be home before you know it!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Prayers for Taylor here, too.

Sue and I had a delightful day. The twins came along and I had Bryn and Emma, and the 4 of them had a ball. Today is Emma's birthday. She's 10. The twins are 9 and Bryn is 13, but they all got along great. We had a lot of laughs. No brisket....salads mostly and Sue has no appetite. She looks great in her jeans! I'm jealous! :o)

We went to 3 nurseries. Honest, I wasn't going to buy a thing. Ended up buying something at every one of them! Sheesh!

My brother from IN is coming for a visit today. Haven't seen him since we were at his FL place in Jan/Feb. Dad and I both will be happy to see him.

It's 77 out right now, but it feels like it could get hot, hot, hot!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the update Cookie! Glad you all had a good time!
Happy Birthday to Emma!

Taylor can look forward to ice cream diet!!! Sending prayers too, Cindy.

Cookie, we all know about your addiction to plants, sistah!
We here are cut of the same cloth right? Broke as we are, we'd find the pennies to get "just that one"!!
Happy to know Sue and her twins had a great day with you and your family. I can imagine the kids laughter and fascinated by the fish in your pond.
Wishing you good weather for a nice family reunion today. So what's on the menu, if it won't be brisket today! Lol!!

Morning sistahs, baked a chicken today, no carbos but stewed cabbage to go with that. I don't think Kel would be happy, but tough t*t* !!!
He'd just have to learn to adapt to a good diet.
Will be working outside in a bit as the weather seems tolerable enough as long as I have a hat on.
Anyone here besides me that wears a hat in the garden?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

always wear a hat in the garden - a true gardening hat (straw, big brim) not a baseball cap lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Straw hat here too! I need a new one!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Thank You Ladies for your prayers Taylor did well

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL she just woke up and is doing good. Jello, lots and lots of jello, lol

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

One sure way to lose weight (NOT that she needs to, obviously.... I'm soooooooo jealous!!).

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Waving to Taylor!
She's gonna be much more less prone to infections after this. Poor baby.. but at least it's done and over with!
Blueberry pancake cupcake? Do you use a mix, Cindy?
I missed a few episodes of the Cupcake War. I'm surprise with all the different flavors they come up with.

Been a busy, busy day today. Yay!!! This keeps the devil at bay!! Lol.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Susan, then I need to be on a jello diet for at least a year!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LOL ok Jaye - you'll be eating less than Kel I take it? And he's not happy with his lesser diet......... YIKES!

Good to hear Taylor did great and is recovering well. Oh the happy juice ... one of my fav's !

Hey everyone! I just talked to Judy on the phone, her computer is still slow running. She said to say hello to all, and she misses everyone! She is staying busy and getting ready for her trip to Betty's place!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

It won't be long now and the sistahs will be gathering at Betty's.

I have a plumeria in bloom, a white one and I'm so happy about it. Another one is going to bloom and it wll be red. I better mark them this time!

LindaKay,filled myself up on Orange Sweet Rolls...didn't leave room for lunch!!!

Week tomorrow Steve and Judy will arrive..then on Thursday they arrive at all different hours, I'm soooo anxious!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Morning Ladies,

Yes such a relief that Taylor (hopefully) will not come down with anymore those ugly virus' that she suffered with these past couple of years. I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but even with all the school days she missed..........she made the Honor Roll!!!

Jaye, the cupcakes are made from scratch, with FRESH blueberries. But I haven't made them yet. I got so busy yesterday after I got home from shopping. Took down the green house, now I'm going to take the bales of hay that were sitting around it (to keep the dogs from running into it when they start racing around the yard) and transplant some strawberries. I've got tons of runners and need to do something with them.

Today my Mom is 85, I feel bad that I'm not with her today to celebrate. But I will be up there come Sunday and staying a few days. I'm going to take her to Golden Corral for lunch. Years ago there was one in Auburn, and mom loved it. Now the closes one is 40 miles away.

Going to my friends house to finish planting flowers, and of course SWIM lol. Must remember to take picture of the lake view from her front deck.

Have a great day, Ladies

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Wow - the Honor Roll!! How Awesome is that?!?!?! And with missing school, too!
awwwww Happy Birthday to your Mom, Cindy :-)

wow - 1 week tomorrow?! Time's a-flying, Betty! But.......... your place is ready, and you can relax the last week, or you'll be "fried" when your friends come. Give yourself time to rest so you can enjoy your Gathering of the sistahs!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Ok Susan here you some Blueberry Pancake cupcakes, some with Cream Cheese frosting (too sweet, need to make my own next time) some with out. Yum Yum

And my newest Lily, I don't know the name of it. It was one of those that I bought from WinCo for $1.98

Ok I gotta get a move on, taking "girls" to river to swim before I head to Sheri's

Have a good day Ladies

ah - I'll have without, please. I'm trying so hard to diet, and watch my caloric intake.
I go every day to www.myfitnesspal.com and it's great for keeping me on track..........

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone!
Oh my, Betty. Soon you'd be enjoying the company of great friends, who are almost family to you, thanks to DG.
Don't you worry too much about the blooms, they're there to see you, everything else is just extra. I'm sure they'd be happily compensated with your butter tarts!

Cindy, if that white lily smells divine from far, then it might be Casa Blanca.
I'd suggest you spread the word that you'd take in orders for cupcakes, if you're making them from scratch.
Golden Corral is about 80 miles from here. Love the choices on the buffet.

Thanks LK. I bet Judy was showing her excitement! It's been a year since Steve and her had hugged Betty.

Pegi, I can't wait to see when the plumerias unfurled fully. I killed all my plumerias, no intention to replace them.

What have you been working on lately Susan. You're not the kind to sit still! Are you finished with helping your friend clean her garden?

Sistahs, can you say an extra prayer please. It's for my ex, who's going through some health issues. Harris Blanchard is his name. Thanks Sistahs.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - I will never truly finish Marlene & Wilma's garden - it's an on-going thing.
I've been sitting at home quietly contemplating a friend who passed away on Monday....... in a Hospice for about a week. You may know her as FancyVan / Carol.
I also did a Pastoral Visit yesterday of an elderly lady in our Church, who's 90 and unable to sit in the Church for any length of time so cannot attend Services. When I accepted to do Pastoral Visits of Church people, they said "should only take 45 minutes" but it was 2 hours lol I figured, for a first time visit, I should really get to know the person first. Subsequent visits would be less of course.
