۞Sweet Interruptions # 242۞

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Jaye, I don't put pepper flakes in my pesto... but I have been known to add it to a bit when we dip bread in it. Steven, #1 son, adds even more pepper seeds... but he's a gluten for punishment, too.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yummmmmmmmmm thank you BJ!! Now, I'll have to make some Ciabatta Bread! A friend of Bob's gave him some that his wife made and they said to eat it same day. It was a large loaf and just the two of us, so we couldn't eat it all at once. It didn't keep the three days we needed it to. However, this time I would share it with friends and it wouldn't be wasted!

Dunno why, but I always thought pesto was a tomato dish........ well, fool me once, eh? lol

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

wish y'all send a forwarding address when you move, i lost y'all

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Did we forget the cookie crumbs again Kathy? Shame on us.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oops... I might have swept up the crumbs... sorry Cuz

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

shame shame on us all............sorry......... (blushing)

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

y'all just dont wanna play with me no more cuz i play with goats

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

y'mean those cute little ones that play with your furries? Naaaaaaah that wouldn't be it.
Must be something else! (just foolin' ya, silly woman!!)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL... the ones that faint when you say BOO to them?
Hey, we'd love you even if you played with elephants... pink ones.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Your goat ate the crumbs Sis!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Ah hum, not sure all of us would love her is she played with PINK elephants. One might just say no! LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You are showing your intelligence, Marion!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

"just say no"? Well............ if she's seeing pink goats (or elephants), I might advise her that way lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

HUH? Do you have me confused with some one else? LOL

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL now, you know you're intelligent Marion, you just try to hide it ROFL

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Cuz, you don't listen to them... we love you no matter what you do.
Jaye plays with frogs, Marion plays with lady bugs...you just prefer goats... it's ok

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hmmmmmmmmm and what do I play with? Wondering.........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone! We are back from the beach, and had a great time! I told Todd, next time we will go for a full week.
Granddaughter caught a shark...
We saw several jelly fish in the shore, I think they are called man o war?
View from your room...
Todd and I at dinner, I had great shrimp and Todd had oysters.
Lots of seagulls!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yummmmmmmmmmm - bet you enjoyed the fresh "catch"!
how awesome that she caught a shark! Bet she was thrilled!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

She was excited she caught a fish, and Rory did not. Rory had several on the hook, but the all wiggled off before he could land them.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol poor Rory....... they can be difficult to land, those slippery fishies!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I love the shot of the gulls!! I know a lot of people don't care for them but I think they are neat.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Those gulls were very greedy, if someone pulled out a cooler or was sitting there eating, they hovered over them like a bunch of kites!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jonathan Livingston Seagull - anyone remember him?
A quote from Jonathan:
"The same rule holds for us now, of course: we choose our next world through what we learn in this one. Learn nothing , and the next is the same as this one, all the same limitations and lead weights to overcome”"

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Copied from Betty's thread...

Mega drats, Judy d-mailed me that Liz (Lizrainey) had a heart attack and is in hospital. I called Liz, she is in good spirits, not thrilled with giving up smoking/eating rich foods but knows she must do. they put a stint and she believes she may get to go home today. Kenny I'm sure will keep a close eye on her antics..lol

Can't believe she worked all day without going to the hospital, thought it was indigestions

Another stubborn one

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Neither can I believe she worked all day. Hope all is well with Liz.

Victoria Harbour, ON

She is now home, she posted of her experience on the Best/Worse and What did I learn today thread..

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi Ladies,

I have not been up this late in ages. But had a great day and had to share.

It was 102 today, I was helping a friend spend her money on flowers ^_^, then we spent time in the pool. She wants me to plant flowers around the pool. She wants me to come every other week. We planted up quite a few pots and sat them all around her deck which is off the living room, with a view of Lake Oroville marina. I didn't get a picture but I will be back up there next Thursday

Here's one of the pool

She has a Jack Russel who is the cutest little guy. He loves to swim LOL I got a vedio of him and tried to post it on FB but it disappeared not once but TWICE grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sorry sistahs, I was an emotional wreck Thursday night.. didn't sleep at all.. because of Lola. Lola's stomach was all of a sudden riddled with bulging veins and a quarter size bruise that has a blood pool.
Googled the symptoms, and all that I had read weren't good. Sounds so fatal.
For the first time since Kel worked at the prison, I called for him. Just had to make sure that when he returned in the morning to make sure to wake me up and rush Lola to the vet.
The rest of the night, all I did was stayed up, praying and crying and praying.

Vet checked her up, listened to her stomach and heart. Got reaffirmation from us that Lola does all the necessary expellations and has a hearty appetite. His conclusion? Being she's not spayed, she has the rare effect to her mammary glands cause by her being in heat, at her age (6).
Kel was thanking God, but I was numbed for a while. Expecting the worse with all that 'wise' analysis from Google.
And finally, I can let go of my anxieties and just grab Lola off the table, and hugged her. Vet had to tell me to put her down as he's not through with her yet!! Lolol.
Lola had her bloodworks done.. all came out negative.. toe nails clipped (she bite us when we do it)..one month's hw treatment.. all these for under $70.
Well, mama won't be buying fabric and papa will have to settle for baloney sandwiches.

Coffee and some great pancakes with honey ladies. On to the second part of the day.

he vet had this huge smile for me as he noted my swollen lids!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

My afternoon?
Checked my DG when I got home.
Got the info from Judy about Liz.

By the way, thank you so much LK and Betty, making sure I'm aware of Liz' condition.

After I read the dmail, I called up sistah Judy. It hit me that Sis Judy smokes too. Then I went down emotionally. God, I must have sound like a crying idiot to her!! Sorry Sistah Judy.
Worried about her smoking too and wanting her reassurance that she will take GOOD and BETTER care of herself.
My word, should anything happen to my sistahs.. you all are so far away that I can't check on you, physically!
Poor Sis Judy, she was quite quiet on the other end.
But I do remember this about Sis Judy, she said they're on the lookout for a dependable pc.
Thank God for the creation of much longer lasting stents!!!

After the call, accompanied Kel to his colleague's home as she's in need of help with her pc.
She showed me where the cancer on the upper part of her chest is, and that got me bawling away, remembering Sophy, my bff in Texas.

Got home, remembered to call my sister in France, to wish my niece Dewi's 21st. birthday.
Sistahs, my nephew, nieces and even Dewi's friends at the party wanted to talk to me!! Then Zi's neighbour grabbed the phone too!!
When Dewi told me that I'm the most favored aunt of all the 6 that she has.. again.. I'm reduced to tears. Dewi and her siblings rather come to my dump of a town, a not so pretty home.. than go to Singapore or Australia!! Sob.. sob..
What tore me up more was my nephew, Alex, who's 20, and talked to me for more than 10 minutes. Boys don't do that. Normally they want to get away from relatives!!

In the middle is Dewi.
She had quit hotel hospitality school, and decided to resume on her language studies.

The one on the right, is Suzannah. Wishing to practice her English, sponsored by the French Consulate, she'd be going to San Francisco to be an au par to 3 kids, and not knowing anyone in Ca., I promise her that I'll ask my Ca. sistahs whether they could add her to FB.
Cindy.. Pegi..? Suzannah is Dewi's school friend. I've talked to her a couple of times, she's very vivacious and would be tickled to have Ca. friends on her page.
Suzannah Leshaya Mainza Soula.
In fact I'd be 'tickled' should all my sistahs would add her. She'd be so surprise. Poor girl faces a lot of discrimination in France, because of her skin color. So do my family...

Kel and I were in bed by 7.30 pm.
We were both zonked!
So hoping, days will be back to normal again.
Heat's back.. mosquitoes are on double duty..

Sis Kathy, have you ever seen that movie "Men Who Stares at Goats"? Maybe you could just train your goats with your mind!

Yes, BJ.. I play with my frogs and a real life toad!

Cindy, your friend must be so glad to have you around. You know so much about plants and are also skilled at landscaping.

Okay.. I'm preaching here. I know Liz isn't the only one that smoke.
I even called up another sistah who does that too.
She assured me that her doctor does an annual check to listen to bloodflow along her throat.
So please, sistahs, keep that in mind. To avoid what happened to Liz, do a "Circulation Ultrasound". It's painless.. non invasive.
Get that done please!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!

Sorry you have been going through so much Jaye! We are all so glad to hear that Liz is doing good! Praise God!

Praying also that Lola is doing better?
I will add your Niece to my FB page also. Make sure to give her my name, so she can look for the friend request.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, dropping in with a 'hi'!

Sure hope Jaye things get less stressful. I often say my life is so humdrum, always on a straight jet that I think boring best describes it but I'd best thank the Lord for this quietness.

Waving to all

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

1st - smoking - Liz & Judy, watch this video...... http://www.albertaquits.ca/quit_stories/barb_tarbox.php

2nd - Jaye - would love to add your niece to my FB but won't promise to be on much, however there is that lovely feature that shows when someone posts to a wall, so I will know when something of note is posted
Happy that Lola is fine - Google isn't always your "friend" esp when it worries you with "false diagnosis". You're not a vet, y'know.......
Happy you called Judy and helped her see how worried we are that she's still smoking.......... (see above video link, Judy!!) Although it's called Alberta Quits, it's for All Smokers.......

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Will add Suzannah to my facebook. More than happy to be her Caliofornia friend.
If I would get off this computer I plan on going out to check on my plants. First, I have to clean up after my dogs, since they won't go in just one place. My plumeria should be blooming soon, can't wait for that........have camera ready. Time to straighten out all my potted plants. In the other building they call that a "pot ghetto". A perfect name for one of my addictions.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!

Happy Fathers day to all the wonderful Fathers out there!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the coffee LK. I surely need triple cups today, need a jumpstart. It was another very mind boggling afternoon, that left my evening very exhausted.

Yes Betty, I'll take ho hum, hundrum anyday. Thought mine's boring, nothing to report, until these days. I can take one excitement a day, but a series? Think Lord is testing me.

Did hear from Liz yesterday. She sounds in good spirits. Said she'd be watching her diet and since Tuesday she had quit smoking. I am so glad that her sister will be her watchdog, and making sure she eats right.
Thank you Sistah Judy for telling her that us sistahs are very concern over her health.

There's one thing I don't have in my pantry, besides junk food. No cooking oil, so there'll be no temptation to deep fry anything!
Got used to the 3 Bs and one M. Bake, Broil, Boil and microwave!

Starting today, I'll be cutting Kel's meat portion in half.
A normal portion size of animal protein should be the size of the palm of one's hand.
But Kel will eat 2 large plates at one sitting, and that's not including the carbos.
He's thinking that being on cholestrol.. bp meds..doesn't smoke nor drink, give him the greenlight to continue eating like that. As a consequence he's more than 80 pounds overweight.
No amount of lecture from me and his doctor could convince him that he needs to take better care of himself.
I've stopped all kinds of carbonated drinks and 'junk' from coming into the house. Unfortunately, I know that what he cannot get from home, he'd be getting them from "elsewhere" who'd gleefully undermine my efforts.
So.. today.. half the meat portion.
Maybe "elsewhere" would soon be tired of him besides depleting their cookies and soda, he'd start on their dinner as well!
One way to force him to turn to salads!

Thank you sistahs for wanting to help Suzannah Leshaya Mainza Soula.
She's a good kid with no parents. Her step sisters are her only family, and my sister treats her like one of her own.
Dewi Mathe', my niece, was supposed to work at an art gallery in SF, but at the last minute, they changed their mind. Tho' the air fare and lodgings are subsidised. A missed opportunity there

Have a BRILLIANT Sunday, sistahs. God loves you and won't give you more than you can handle!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Jaye

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I looked up Suzannah on Facebook, will add my name later and welcome her to California. When will she be coming to San Francisco?

Very hot day, in the low 90's, so I gave up going out to take care of some much needed work. It will cool down soon, I hope, and I'll go checking on my plumberia. I do believe one is white and other is red.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hey Pegi, Suzannah is scheduled to be in San Francisco next year, in February.
She can't believe that it's a 5 hr. flight from Ca. to NC!! Told her that USA is waaaaaaay bigger than France! Lol!
Don't you just thank your lucky star that plumerias do okay in your part of the world? Have you tried growing orchids? You'll do good with them too.

Weed eat this afternoon, sure enjoyed the dry spell. My body is enjoying the back ache for once!! Getting up and moving around is good for circulation!
