Maybe, they can be in the dirt I think. Is there any contaminated water or puddles around, sometimes they are in that.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I think they get hookworm from stepping on poop with worms in it

We have a marsh/wetlands and she goes down and gets ucky. She has pulled saw grass out by the roots and dragged it up to the house as a treat for us.

I think she has had them for awhile. Saying a month.

I think I hate saying I think, but she has had a dry nose and I saw something going wrong. I hope this works. She has been treated for FREAKING WORMS.

Oh boy here I go. I know tapeworms. I took a sample and put it on a piece of wood. Brought it in the house to look at it under a very powerful microscope. I ended up running out of the house gagging. They were tiny and wigglingling.

wiki:
Transmission may occur through:
Ingestion of raw or partly cooked meat, especially pork, lamb, kitten, or venison containing Toxoplasma cysts. Infection prevalence in countries where undercooked meat is traditionally eaten has been related to this transmission method. Tissue cysts may also be ingested during hand-to-mouth contact after handling undercooked meat, or from using knives, utensils, or cutting boards contaminated by raw meat.[20]
Ingestion of contaminated cat feces. This can occur through hand-to-mouth contact following gardening, cleaning a cat's litter box, contact with children's sandpits, or touching a leech. The cysts can survive in the environment for over a year.[21]
Cats excrete the pathogen in their feces for a number of weeks after contracting the disease, generally by eating an infected rodent. Even then, cat faeces are not generally contagious for the first day or two after excretion, after which the cyst 'ripens' and becomes potentially pathogenic.[22]

Jeeeez....partially cooked KITTEN???

my cats are that way too.If not in the bed, the want to share the chair with me, or my corner of the couch.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Jerry sleeps in his crate and Patches on her own little bed. I sleep in a twin bed, so there's no room for the dogs. I have had one or the other in the bed with me before, but then I can't move around much.

Dexter is another velcro dog. At least he sleeps down at the end of the bed. He doesn't start there, but it only takes 5 -10 minutes before he does the southbound shift.

Cute!

My neighbor was out in the front yard with 2 of his bulldog pups...8 weeks old....he's keeping these 2, a male & female....5 out of 10 have already been sold....well, these 2 were the cutest things! Roly-poly, and full of it....within seconds, both my sneakers were untied, the male was jumping on top of his sister, running like a crazy dog! I suggested the name Rowdy for that one!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I think Bulldog pups are #1 in the cuteness factor!! Ten is an unusually high number of pups.

Here's Abby at 3 months

Postcards came from the vet this week. Meeyow (stray) needs his rabies shot and he looks so bad from his winter dreadlocks coming off in places that I hate taking him in. He is not a cat that I can groom although we get on a little better since he knows I will stop annoying him when he growls - he doesn't have to claw and bite me to get me to stop anymore.

I realized that he has lost a lot of weight from this time last year. I've started giving him a little crunchy food at night to try and put some weight back on him. Someone else must have stopped putting out food in the neighborhood and he is missing those calories. He almost always leaves some food in the dish when he gets canned food twice a day but he always gobbles up the crunchy food.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

That makes more sense to me Marilyn, even six is a lot.
