LK, Bonnie had given me some irises years ago, and it took them 3 years to bloom.
But then my flowers are all late bloomers! Lolol!!
So, sistah, were you treated royally at the quilting stores? What are you adding to your stash?
Susan, can you take a picture of your Saskatoon Bush?
Don't think I've seen one around.
Heavy downpour, thunder starting to roll in. Looks like I'll be NOT watering for a couple of days.
۞Sweet Interruptions # 240۞
Thanks for taking the time to take and post pics, Susan.
Mock orange bushes are hardy for this area too, maybe I'd get a couple next year and plant them under the bedroom window.
I found 2 branches with buds on the Saskatoon bush! yaaaaaay!
They look like large blueberries, very sweet, and good for pies and jams.
We have a Saskatoon Farm 1/2 hour from Calgary, and I know we can get them there, but it's nice to have some in our own backyard to eat fresh from the bush :-)
I don't know why this particular mock orange is called Waterton Mock Orange. Wonder how it's different from others?!?! I know it's hardy and native to the Waterton Alberta area.......
I looked up Mock Orange and it's hardy to zone 4. So maybe yours can give the kind of cold it needs, Susan?
Nothing like growing your own fruits. The store bought kind are usually lacking in full flavor, as they are picked too green.
I'm looking forward to more blueberries too, even though I can ony eat a handful at a time. Like 20 pieces!
We had a wonderful dinner with my DIL, my friend Katie, and Granddaughter at the outback steakhouse!
Katie has one more chemo treatment this Friday, and she is soooo looking for it to be over. She will get her final pet scan in a month, and we will know for sure how good the treatments went for her!
Then We went to Hobby lobby this morning and I bought 12 yards of assorted patriotic fabrics! So pretty! Of course I found a few things for the swap coming up too! :)
Susan, love that bush, it is so pretty!
Awww.. what a wonderful friend you are LK. Spending time with Katie. I'm sure you've made her day.
Sad that HL doesn't sell fabric online. I'm curious as to what they got. 12 yards will go far for any project!
Jaye, you will have to tell Kel, you need to go for a ride, and find a Hobby Lobby! You will enjoy it! They have lots of pretties!
Is there a thread to sign up for the RW&B swap? I may have missed it somewhere in my lurking around.
Haven't heard anything about finances for meds yet. I know it has only been a week since I mailed the app out, but it seems like weeks. The other day DH said the help will probably come too late. I know he is depressed over this, and I don't want to join him in the "what if". His humor hasn't stopped though which is good.

Here ya go Pegi!
LK - how lovely for the time you spent with all the ladies! I, too, hope Katie gets a good result!!
Which bush is it you like? I posted 3......... Saskatoon, Mock Orange, and Cottoneaster..........
As I post this, it's 59F, and going down to 45F. I hope the indoor ferns I had to leave out there tonight will be ok........ Someone threw them out at the church, and I rescued them. I have NO space to put them in the house, and they needed thorough watering (I can't water as thoroughly as I want to, in the church, cuz they would leak on the floor......... and they don't have large enough saucers to catch the overflow..
Thanks, LK, I see Jaye had addeded my name so I wasn't left out. I get lost so easy. My DH always said I would get lost walking around the block, but I always leave bread crumbs so I can find my way back.
Susan, they are all lovely, but I googled the saskatoon bush and see that it gets berries. Very pretty1
Morning everyone!
Need a scary story? yesterday I was sitting in my rocking chair, and leaned over to put on my shoes. I leaned down and put the first one on, then reached for the other shoe, and out from under my chair comes walking a huge tarantula! I screamed so loud, I swear Betty could have heard it in Canada! Todd comes from the kitchen and asked what was wrong, and said some bad words as he saw what I was screaming about! He grabbed the wasp spray and a fly swatter, and smashed that thing to pieces! I sat there so scared, I did not want to move! Guess they are coming out of the ground with all the rain we are having, so it looks like I will keep all the doors closed, and turn on the air conditioner! I HATE those things!

WE HAVE NEWLY HATCHED PEACOCKS!!!! YIPPEE
Darn LK, sure glad you didn't trip badly over a tarantula. Are those things dangerous? They're scary looking being hairy and oversized.
Me too don't care for spiders, no matter what size.
The nearest HL is a two hour drive one way :*( That means being gone almost all day, and that's a luxury for Kel. Oh how I miss the convenience of living in a city.
I'm okay, as the WM here is stocking up with more quality stuff and there's a whole wall just for quilting fabric.
Pegi, please tell Darwin that he's a very popular guy! Us sistahs love him and will keep him plus you, of course, in our prayers.
As for sense of direction, I have none!! Lucky that Kel can find his way pretty good, even in a strange town.
The pots are water logged. Not a good day to be weedeating nor taking care of anything outside as there are mudholes everywhere. Moreover, I had sprained my ankle and I don't want to aggravate it more.
So, back to the sewing machine.
Have a good Tuesday sistahs!
Congrats Sis Kathy. Next, you'll be coming up with names for them!
Peabrain.. Peafart... to name a couple :D
ROFLMFAO Jaye!!!!!!
How wonderful that you have new baby peacocks, Kathy!! I never knew anyone that raised any - just see them in the zoo. I love 'em - in fact I'm currently embroidering one for a quilt RR (no, not a live one, before you say anything, Jaye LOL )
Congrats on the new babies Kathy!
Jaye, how did you sprain your ankle?
Most of the tarantulas will not bite unless they are provoked! They live in the ground, and if they feel it is going to rain, they will come out of the hole, and climb a tree. They do have venom, but for most that get bitten, it just makes them really sick, like the scorpions. But if you are sensitive to things like bees and mosquito's, then it will probably bother you more! But to me, any of these creature are dead if they come ear me! I do not like them one bit!

Jaye - I missed that part!! poor you..... that Hambone is strong @ 70lbs. (I just spoke to Jaye, and that's how her ankle was sprained - he yanked her!)
Off to a garden nursery, for the church - cya later!
Oh no, sorry to hear that Jaye! Soak it in epsom salt.
My sister sends some massaging oil that heats up, and it helps relieve some! Plus some ibuprofen, LK.
Yep, Hambone tends to be overly rambunctious!!
Susan may you find a home for the ferns. If not just donate them to a nursing home.
Sue, how you've been sistah? Wishing you easier days to come.
It's been raining hard again, just have the pc turn on and reboot the tv. Thinking I might soon have a natural pool out there!
I have good news - Bob's Truck Is Fixed! at 11:30pm last night Richard came by and he and Bob put some oil in the truck (plus he'd instructed Bob to put his battery charger on, which he did, for several hours that night). After the charge and more oil, the truck started. Richard asked him to wait 1/2 hour (12:30 AM!) and start the truck again. It's good to go! And he's been using it today. Just charged $40 for the service. We're able to do that.
Only thing is........... Richard didn't tell us he had a way to tow Bob's truck, so he'd gotten all ticked off that we'd paid a tow truck driver to move the truck. Gee - wouldn't it have been nice to let us know he could tow? ah well, at least Bob has his truck back, and a total of $80 is Not bad.
As soon as we can, Bob needs to get a full oil change.......
Hi Ladies,
What a day!! Couldn't get the stupid weed eater started, grrrrrrrrr!!! Later one of my brother's friends came by to look at the clean out pipe thingie for the bathroom, so while he was here he got the weed eater started for me. Wasn't too long then it ran out of the plastic twine, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Tried to get the thing off so I could refill it, nope can't get that off, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. So the heck with that, got my Mantis tiller out to do veggie garden, the handle broke of the string and zip the string disappeared back into the tiller, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! So there are still very tall weeds in the chicken yard............tilled the garden bed by hand will get more garden soil and plants tomorrow. So I decided to clean out the last pond that I kept putting off because the ground is all dug up due to having to fix pipes coming from bathroom. Have two of the most prettiest fish......one had a orange head and the rest of him was pitch black and the other one was pure orange with a white and black tail fin. And they are both those butterfly goldfish, so pretty! Earlier in the day mom was standing by the one fish pond that the racoons keep getting in and here comes a frog hopping across the the yard. She told me about it so I went and looked....it was two frogs. A big brown one with a little green one on it's back. I got a good picture of it but will have to wait until I can get on my laptop to post it.
Jaye, hope your ankle gets better soon. So many times I have tripped over Harlee and Amy. I don't take them both walking at the same time anymore. They almost knocked me in the lake the last time I took them. The two of them together weight over 100 pounds. Harlee wanted to get in the fish ponds really bad, lol . She saw the fish and was trying to catch them, she would of had a rude awakening if she fell in, lol. And stink too!!!!
I ordered The Vow, mom and I are going to watch it while we eat dinner......chef salad, yum yum!!!!
Susan, $80 is not bad. Well then, if Richard didn't tell you he had the capability to tow the truck, it's HIS loss!!
Cindy, I'm sorry, I laughed so hard at your 'bad luck' trying to work in the garden!! What a coincidence, I never could replace the twine in my weedeater. It's impossible to remove the cap!
At least you had some smiling moments with the goldfish and the frogs.
Hambone is too wilfull, besides being strong! Even Kel has a hard time controlling him. I am glad that there are no old ladies that would come over, as I'm pretty sure, he'd knock them over!
Let us know how the Vow is.
It rained for me here, on and off.. and am forced to tackle something that I have a hard time focusing on!
Glad that Sistah Judy gave me a break!
I was very pleased with the $40 & $40 cost for Bob's truck! I'm Sure dealers would have charged a lot more, and if it hadn't been so short a distance to tow the truck (400/500 ft?!) it would have cost more.
We were very blessed to have such a small bill for the tow & repair!
Now, Richard said he could do an oil change for Bob - less than the $100+ he would get charged at our regular place. And likely would Just do the oil change, not tack on all the "extras" others do.......
Glad you got the truck fixed Susan, oil changes here are only $20.00.
Bob has 2 batteries, and a large truck - his is more expensive. Mine would be $55 for a basic oil change for a 2007 Chevy Cobalt. Just a basic car.....
Good morning!
Coffee and buttered croissants along with oatmeal and raisin muffins. Should you drop some crumbs, don't be surprise if you see a cat diving for them!
Guess oil changes cost more in Canada, Susan.
Marion, how are things with you? And how's your mum?
Barb, any new news? When you're feeling not up to par, please wrap yourself with the shawl and feel our presence and especially our love. You've been so generous with your prayers for others, and we'll do the same for you.
I'm hoping for things to dry up so I could work outside. Been 3 days working indoors. My sewing machine needs a break!
Time for the weedeater to be revved up!
Morning. I am having computer issues..can't connect to the internet via our router. Yesterday even Kim's computer wouldn't connect so that has kept me away.
Well that and the fact I have baked 3 layer cakes and 175 cupcakes since Sunday afternoon.............some of the teachers ordered cakes from Kim for end of year activities rather than pay a bakery. Yeap, I am Kim's "bakery" but she does the decorations. The cupcakes are for the National Honor Society induction luncheon and Spanish Honors luncheon. I DO not want to see another cupcake for a while, thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats Momma Kathy on the new babies. Pictures?
Glad all is well LK with the spider.
Jaye, Mom is recovering from what they think is pneumonia again. The nursing home does x-rays every 5-6 months and the last one came back very different. They actually couldn't tell us what is happening but as a precautionary measure she has been on every strong antibiotics for the past 6 days. They are giving these in the hips and Sue said she is really bruised at the injection sites. I am planning to go down next week. I will only be able to stay about a week as Kim will be leaving for Europe and someone needs to be home to care for the Fur Babies.
Darn Marion, just last night I watched two episodes of Cupcake War and was thinking if I were to open a shop, it will be a bakery just for cupcakes.
Since you've had the experience, you'd be perfect for the dream shop!!
Your poor mum must have gone through every antibiotics available.
Good thing is she's not diabetic, if not there will be more bruised sites. Please give her hugs from all of us, if her ribs could take them.
Will Kim be going to France? She might get lucky and bump into JD !
Morning everyone!
Thanks for breakfast Jaye!
Marion, sorry to hear your Mom is not doing well, can't they put those meds in her IV?
No, the meds have to be administered via shots. They have to go very deep with the injection thus most of the bruising. Jaye, she is borderline but they don't bother checking it any more. Not sure why but they don't. I do believe they write their own rules as they go!!
Sorry, no cupcake wars here!!!!! That is tiring, hot work--now if you need a taste tester, sign me up!!
Oh yes, Jaye, the group will be going to France, Spain, Monaco and Italy. Catie-Beth has requested the Eiffel Tower as a souvenir from the trip from Kim. This is the same child that asked us to bring back a volcano from Costa Rica. Thank goodness for miniatures. There are 15 students, 5 parents and 2 teachers going. I wanted to go so badly but alas it is not to be for a while. No traveling!!! My sister is furious that Kim is going but she will get over it......or not!
((((maid m))))
mama has the babies out side. she beat the heck out of papa. will try to get pics.
LOL at that visual!! I imagine they aren't all that pretty right now but oh just wait.................................................
Good Morning Ladies,
My aching body did not want to get up this morning. If Harlee had not of woken me up to go potty, I would still be snoozing.
The Vow was not as good as I thought it would be. Rachel McAdams is a wonderful actress, The Notebook is by far a better movie.
I love watching the Cupcake Wars, if I could decorate I would try to start a Cup cake business here. There is not many bakeries in this town. I've seen one cake shop.
Mom and I are going shopping for a battery operated, light weight weed eater, and then to nursery to get tomato plants and some flowers. I had cleaned out this area that has Holly Hocks growing so mom wants to fill it with flowers. looks like I will be here another day, oh well that's alright Doug is still sick and an old bear, and I can't stand to be around him when he's cranky just hope he is watering my flowers.
Have a good day Ladies
wow - what pics!! Are these all male babies?
Marion - I'm having probs connecting with my router too - tech support says they're only good for about 3 years, so may be getting a new one. When I turn my 'puter on, it takes 3-5 minutes to connect, then I'm "good".
Cindy - mmmmmmmmm maters!! Nice to be planting your garden!! Doug being an old bear while sick is "male-normal" LOL
it's to early to know if they are male or female
