Jaye / LK - I fixed a hot toddy with some spiced rum last night, for both Bob & I. I still couldn't sleep........ to bed at 2:00, up at 4:30, tried to sleep at 5:30 - got 1 hour, finally up to stay at 8, and back to bed at 10:30 - slept until 12:30 pm.......
Bob's headed out to pick up our Movie Night movie for tonight - The Queen, with Helen Mirren.
۞Sweet Interruptions # 239۞
Thank you Ladies,
I misunderstood the situation regarding the house. This house is paid for. But what happened was Nanny had some remodeling done on it and took out a loan, and I think she used the house as collateral to get the loan. Well a few years later the man that owned the company that did the work passed away, so HUD took over the loan. Not holding my breath , but we may be ok. Will know more Monday when we go talk to the people who have the loan papers. So I will be saying a lot of prayers between now and Monday ^_^
Not crossing my limbs, they hurt the last time I did for Bev *Sundowner* but crossing my fingers for you Cindy
Back to some sewing. Trying to finish one project before I take up another.
LK, I may opt out of that horse block.. unless I can complete the next one early!
Praying right along with you, Cindy!!
Dear Lord, please guide those at HUD to understand that Cindy & Doug are needing to keep their home. Give them peace to know that you will provide for them, and that Nanny is watching over them also.
Cindy - they say "possession is 9/10s of the Law" and you've lived there how long? Hopefully the folks at HUD will allow you to take over the mortgage that's now on the house re: the remodelling....
Cindy, sure hope you can get it all straightened out quickly!
Jaye, there is no hurry on the horse blocks yet, we have not started on it!
Amen Susan, I love this group of believing sistahs!
LK, I even got some horse material. You know me, always last minute for deadlines but lately since my legs have improved, seems I am to sewing more.
Glad to hear your lgs are doing better!
Oh Thank You your prayers Ladies,
Here is a little bit about Nanny, oh yea she was 94 not 95 Doug was confused (long story)
Maryette Filby Jones passed away on April 26, 2012. Born April 26, 1918 in Salt Lake
City Utah, she was a Yuba Sutter residents for more than 60 years. Know as
Juke Box Mary in the 40's, she was employed by Hub Amusement to change the records
and song labels in jukeboxes in the Marysville area. She was also a regular on Y-S transit
earning the nickname "The Rider"
Her family includes 3 children, several grand, great, great-great, great-great-great grandchildren.
She had 9 children altogether and gave them all up for adoption, 7 of them were adopted out, the two oldest (Doug's mom and a boy)
were never adopted.
Here is her picture from the 40's
Good pic of her - she had quite the Sparkle in her eyes, eh? lol Looks a bit Mischievous!
thanks for sharing the pic of Jukebox Mary! She must be a fun person to be around with in her younger days.
Heave rains now.. along with loud thunders and I think some hail.
Will have to turn off everythng.. later ladies!
Sorry about Doug's grandma. Hope the house deal will turn out and you won't have to move. I'm sure Doug's grandma would have loved to have you live there.
I left a message for the oncologist today and he got back to me right away. I told him the drug he prescribed for DH was way too high for us. Our cost would have been $800. He is looking for another alternative, but so many interfer with the meds. he is now taking. He will see him again the first part of June. He did get a Lupron shot today and will stay on the casodex, a much higher dosage, for now. We didn't get a supplement to go along with Medicare, around $250 a month, another expense we just couldn't handle. Really are on a tight budget.
Thanks Linda for the cancer link. Kaiser has our Medicare so don't know if we can get outside treatment. Will surely check it out.
Don't give up. Pegi. Lord's making a way that Darwin will get his meds.
Just know that we will continue to pray for you both.
Medicine or food.. what a dilemna for most uninsured Americans.
I just hope that the cost of living will somewhat come down in the future. If it keeps rising like now, there will be more homeless people.
I can see through the window, the thunderstorms knocked most of my potted plants. At least it had stopped raining.
Good night sistahs.
Morning sistahs.
Kinda blue today, realizing that I truly can't make it to Betty's.
Choice between meds and a plane ticket.. and moreover.. there's the nursery roof to be fixed :((
Why must everything be sooo expensive?
I must thank God though, that I still have a home, have very loving friends and there's the internet (tho' dial up) that I can keep up with the ones I love.
Next complain... though not truly serious... yes there was hailstorm last night. Ahhh the agony of bending over to pick up big clay pots and having to trimmed damaged vines.. limbs. :((
Another setback... I'm out of coffee and I'm without a vehicle to get my fix :((
Blessings these are so trivial :))
Have a great Saturday sistahs, greater than mine!!
I so understand about not being able to go to Betty's Jaye. I was counting on making this trip not only to see the sistahs but visit my niece and family--yes, your family too! Next year we shall gather at the lake----have to work on the date later.
Hail? Yikes what is the weather doing this year. Concerns me for hurricane season the way things are going so far.
Well, I need to get back outside and finish what I started yesterday. Later............
I too, cannot go to Betty's and it would be sooooo nice to see you all! Except of course for Jaye & Marion who cannot make it......
Maybe one year I'll have space to host a RU ........ (like That's ever going to happen, with my tiny space.......). Although it's expensive to live in Calgary, I think it may be more expensive to visit.......:-(
Sorry to hear about your plant damage Jaye! I won';t be able to go to Betty's either. Maybe next year at Marions! I did promise her I would go with her and put my feet in the sand of the beaches!
Marion, how is your Mom doing?
Hello Ladies,
Well things with the house are looking a little better. But come Monday we will know for sure (I think). Doug's mom talked to a Senior Legal aid person and they said from the looks of it, as long as we keep up the payments on time there shouldn't be a problem. The guy next door went through the same thing when his mom passed and he was able to keep the house. He told Doug all that he had to do in order to keep it, so there is HOPE!
You know with so many of us not being able to make these trips every year, maybe we should think about doing it every 3rd or 4th year??? I wanted to host one in 2014, but not having the big house I dreamed of having I have no room to put up anyone. After Marion has hers we should skip 2014 and maybe save up for a cruise in 2015. Just a thought ^_^
hmmmmmmm don't know what 2014 will bring. By then our Park is closing mid-year so they want to move our mobile home to the other end of the city.......... This may incur some costs we currently have no idea of.
SO glad you're feeling "up" about the possibility of keeping your home. Besides keeping up the payments (and what more could any company want eh?!) you may have to change the name on the rental/title.
Thankfully your neighbour has gone through the same thing, so he's an invaluable source of information!
I lost internet for a few hours. Each time when there's bad weather, I'd be disconnected from my virtual life.
Cindy, I'm so glad that there's hope for you and Doug. A home is a home, no matter what it is.
2015 cruise? Sounds like a winner, Cindy.
Well LK, there's always Marion next year. That's 80% doable. Would love to see Sis Kathy too!
Susan, keep the faith sistah. ^_^
I just go "day by day" Jaye (gee, that rhymes!! maybe I could get a job as a poet!! lol )
Sue, could you give Cookie a big hug for me??
Good Sunday Sistahs!!
Cookie, if you're cruisin' the net.. we miss you gal! Hope Sue gave you tight hugs for us!
Betty, how's the weather there? Give some of that cool air to LK. It's starting to 'behave' normal here, up in the 80s today, only the mosquitoes are happy!
I got some good news to share. All these years of living in isolation, I think I'll soon be able to enjoy the company of a "girl friend". One you'd just hang out with, like going shopping, movies... etc.
Yes I do have one church sistah that I am very close to, but we don't do 'stuffs' as she's very tied to her work, farm and grandkids. Still she finds time for me for that sleepover!!
Found out yesterday that my BFF's SIL, whom I have met back in Louisiana, might be moving to a town which is only 20 minutes from me!!!
When she called me yesterday, it blew me away with that info. She's just as excited as me, as she doesn't have any friends in that town, and of course, she knew about my challenging in-laws through my BFF who had the forsight to brief her, before she came looking for me.
She had received unpleasantries from them, when she thought the house next to Kel's shop is ours!!
It's as though some black clouds have been pushed away and I can see some sunlight!!!
Isn't God great?
She also wants to start a garden business, specializing in tropicals.
Hope the move will come true, and I know God will make a way for her, if He thinks that will be good for her.
Jaye, I am so happy for you! Someone to share all your interests with and be that special friend. My special friend lives almost 2 hours away from me, she keeps wanting us to move closer. In fact, a beautiful home right down the hill from her is up for sale and she is ready to move me in right now. LOL Moving is stressful and I'm content right where I am. Besides DH has good doctors here and I'm not about to change that, God willing. If I was there I would be one good friend to you.
If I was there I would be one good friend to you.
You already are Pegi!!! Your words certainly warm my heart.
2 hrs. drive isn't too bad. Be good for you and Darwin to take a mini vacation once he's feeling up to it.
All you sistahs are my good friends, but unfortunately you are all too far. It takes a plane ticket to see the nearest one or a long 15 hr. drive, at least!!
Awww Jaye - what's 15 hours between us??????
Jaye - SOOOOOO happy for you - you deserve a good, close friend to you! And, knowing the history between you and your "darling" MIL helps......... lol you can have a "dis-ing" party LOL
You, my dear sistah, are one of my dearest friends. Keep reading "Love Wins" by Rob Bell. I'm sure his words will help. I love his explanation of the Bible. I've sent a copy to Brenda (Echoes), and will send one to my DM for her b-day on Wednesday, May 2nd.
Jaye, just went to look at mileage marker post in the DG garden, says 16 1/2 hrs from me!!
In the words of George Bernard Shaw:
"This is the true joy in life - that being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. That being a force of nature, instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die. For the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me. It's a sort of splendid torch which I've got to hold up for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations."
Wow - what a powerful message!
Jaye, so happy you have someone moving close to you for friendship!
We are in San Antonio, waiting to meet Andy and family for dinner at Pappadeux for dinner. Then Todd has a hearing test for work in the morning, then back home to or row afternoon. And of course a fabric store or two!
of Course a fabric store or two, or three, or four............. I'm enabling again!! tee hee
well you know the birdbath i got for jessica ? well its chipping ! the paint is coming off ... uhg i m just livid. no fault to the funeral home. He has never ordered one of these before so he didn't know . I sure hope i can get my money back
other then that . today was well

two huge krossa regal hosta Ric picked up for me and i mean huge !!!
and a white bleeding heart. very pretty. will go into jessica's garden.
well time to go sulk with some wine and bitterness
Sorry to hear about the bird bath, apparently the manufacturer didn't prepare it right. Surely you should get your money back. I love bleeding hearts, they just won't grow here, not cold enough during the winter. A white one should be so beautiful.
(((Pegi)))))) (((((Barb))))) (((((Betty))))) ((((((Susan)))))
They are numbers to us.. 15 miles.. 16...and this is one big continent!! You are all so right.
I'm glad that for now I can use the keyboard that helps me interact with you all in cyber space.
You are all truly the inspiration for that song "That's what friends are for". Always happy for those that are moving forward or heading for a better change. Never envy.. love doesn't envy right?
Then when turmoil and sadness grip us, there you are again, lending your ears, sharing compassionate words, and above all prayers.
Awww.. that's sad Sue! Hope the funeral home can replace that birdbath. If it's the paint, repaint with Marine Paint.
When you said R&R, I thought rest and recreation! Then I went Duhhh, it's Ric and Robyn!!
Glad you had a good time with Cookie and R&R. Ric is a walking plant encyclopedia!
Papadeaux??? I'm drooling!! LK, I ate there twice a week when I was in Houston!! They truly know how to cook Cajun. Envy you, sistah!
Sew, what's your next project sis to use the fabrics?
Susan..that was a superb message written by brilliant GB Shaw. According to him, the purpose of your life is to burn brightly, since your life belongs to the whole community, before you turn that torch over to the next generation.
Susan, on the other hand, he's also a proclaimed atheist, and this is what he had written.
In a 1907 lay sermon at Kensington Town Hall in London, Shaw exhorted:
"When you are asked, "Where is God? Who is God?" stand up and say, "I am God and here is God, not as yet completed, but still advancing towards completion, just in so much as I am working for the purpose of the universe, working for the good of the whole of society and the whole world, instead of merely looking after my personal ends."
Kinda contradicts what most atheists believe and that is the preservation of self.
Those that believe in a Higher Power will somehow be persuaded to think of others' welfare...
I had coconut shrimp, Todd and Andy shared 2 dozen raw oysters, (YUCK), for appetizers, then Todd had shrimp brochettes, and oyster rockefeller, and Andy had crawfish étouffée! Well, I am paying for eating shrimp, as I just had to take a benasryl for the hives I am getting! But is was so good!
We had a great visit with the kids!
Lololol!!! LK, I agree, raw oysters are not for everybody. I can do a dozen with nothing but Tabasco sauce on them. Also, depends on the season. Make sure there's the "R" in the month for good tasting oysters.
You read that Sis Kathy? Andy had crawfish etouffee!!
I can't even find live crawfish around here. The frozen cooked ones are from China!
So sorry you're paying for the good food, LK. Worth the two Benadryls!
Good night sistahs.
But Jaye - GB Shaw is right, if you look at the same words in another way - we are ALL the "body of Christ" - every one of us is a "God's Kid" and a part of his family, and therefore a part of HIM. As GB said "INSTEAD of merely looking after my personal needs". Funnily enough, in the book I got his quote from, here's the following paragraph:
"N. EldonTanner has said,'Service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this earth" and that is followed by "And there are so many ways to serve. Whether or not we belong to a church or service organization or have a job that provides meaningful service opportunities, not a day goes by that we can't at least serve one other human being by making deposits of unconditional love."
Anyway, the spirit of serving is the point I wanted to make, not the beliefs of the person who said 'em! :-)
ooooooooooooh Sue - terrible that the birdbath started to chip - of course there would be a warranty on it, and you could get another, but it's the inconvenience and wanting to have it when you did....... Hope you get it straightened out soon....
Morning sistahs,
I'll be busy today. Going to the vet for a sick kitty and having to make a couple more stops. At least the weather will be good!
Susan I wish to reiterate. I said he's brilliant, but I didn't say Shaw was wrong.
I pointed the fact that's in an irony that he wished to serve mankind when other atheists, focused on self preservation.
Me think it's because he was disillusioned by the Catholic church at an early age.
Later on in his adult life, in the remarkable journey of finding ways to find his purpose, IMO, he had been 'influenced' by the Protestant Revival that was going on, which focused less on the powers of the of the papacy and more towards serving mankind (Original teachings of the Bible)
(blushing) Jaye - it Did sound like I was chiding you, didn't it? Well, I'm such a 'literal" sort and am toughest on myself than on anyone else, so - if you think I sound tough, just remember that I only mean things in the most loving way, and sometimes what someone says confuses me and I speak out of that confusion........ ((((((((Jaye)))))))))
btw - did I tell you that I'm making a baby Boy blanket for my techie friend Brent? He called the other day and said the Ultrasound showed they will be having a Boy (due in Sept), so I'm going to have to fit making a baby quilt in with everything else I'm doing LOL hmmmmmm that would be Two Round Robins, 3 lap quilts (2 for friends, and 1 for me), a queen bed-sized quilt, and oh....... I forget what else LOL
