LK, this house we are in now (Doug's grandmas) is a 3 bdrm 1 bath. It's small but big enough for us. And with the ideas we have for remodeling will make it just right. ^_^ and there is only like $25,000 owed on it. So if we can get a loan for about $50, 000 we can pay it off and do everything we want to it and may even have some left over for new furniture. The only thing that bugs me....not very much gardening space :(, but then that may be a good thing because I am finding out I just can't do it for long periods like I used to. It's taking me a couple of weeks to get the itty bitty front yard done, and I still have a couple more days work to do on it.
Sue, you can block that person also, otherwise they can still post on your wall.
Spent the day with my mom getting monies ready for the banquet next Tuesday. Man what a headache!!!!
۞Sweet Interruptions # 239۞
Cindy, when you painted the tires and stacked them, what did you put in the bottom of the top tire that is on top, to keep the dirt from falling through?
Well, just had a "little" scare........... we're alright though.......
Right to my right shoulder and above...... we have 2 tempered glass shelves about 6' long. I was in the LR sittin' and sewin' when I heard a CRASH! the top shelf fell on the bottom one, and everything - Fish, small plant, 5x7 pictures, etc FELL. The fish tank broke, and my poor fishy ended up in the cat litter tray below where the shelves Were.
Fishy is ok (Bob got him in his hand, and I got some water w/chemical in a bowl. We'll need to get a new tank (it's one of those tiny plastic ones you put Beta fish in)....... The small plant was only a little one.
Now there's a big hole where the Wall gave way - about a 4" hole in the drywall........
Bob's going to cut the damaged section of drywall out and then put strips of board across (attached right to the wall frame) so he can put the shelves back on.
If I'd been sitting at my desk, the shelves would have come down right on my shoulder - I was lucky......... I normally am at my desk, as you know...........
Glad your OK! Hope the fish is OK too!
The fish seems to be - he must have Nine Lives - last April he was "shipped" to me and it took 5 days. He survived that, now to be unceremoniously "dumped" into the cat's litter tray.......... I think he's shaking a bit, too!
I've stopped shaking, but now have a nasty headache....
Goodness, that's one lucky fish. Glad you weren't sitting at your desk, Susan.
Darn, imagine if Bob hadn't scoop it out in time, he might have to give the fish mouth to mouth resuscitation... kidding, Bob!!
That would have been one fishy tale :D
I use Kel's email as the card is under his name, as he's paying for it. I know, his money is mine.. and mine is mine.. but I am entitled to part of his "allowance" for my Ruby Slipper!! Any other purchases with my card, I'd be using my email.
It's been a long busy evening for us. Had to go out of town for something he needs, and when we return, I head straight to the sewing machine to get some RWB strips together.
Look at the time.. I'm still wired!!!
Think I'll check some other threads.. good night sweet sistahs.
ewwwwwwwwwwww mouth to mouth on a fishy with Cat Litter in it's mouth...... blech!!!!
I was a bit surprised to see you still up, Jaye!!
Yup. it's gonna be another hour before I head to bed! Think I'll make a cup of chamomile tea.
mmmmm I'm having a hot toddy - this cough isn't going away, and Bob thinks I should go to Choir Practice tomorrow night........
You need to rest your throat, and hence your vocal chords!
Stay home, Susan. Just rest!
I agree, Jaye - practice singing for over an hour will Not help. He says "just do it as long as you can" but by the time I realize I've overdone it, it's too late..... don't want to lose my voice, for Pete's sake!
Well, it's after midnight, and I'm heading off to bed........ night night everyone!!
Night, Susan.
See you much later, my sistahs. Don't wait on me for coffee!!
Morning everyone! You ladies were up late last night. How about a some strong coffee to get you going!
Jaye, you can go to google G mail or hotmail for free emails, or yahoo. But I don't like yahoo, as it freezes up my computer.
Good Morning Ladies,
Wow Sue!!! I probably would have peed my pants. Glad you're ok. When Doug and I first started dating he came up to my mom's and stayed a few days with me. We were laying on my bed watching tv, when all of a sudden one of my little flower shelves fell off the wall. There was a butterfly planter on the wall just below it and it landed in that, if not it would of hit Doug on top of his head, who knows how bad he would gotten hurt.
LK, I had a large piece of screen from an old screen door. Only thing I could think of at the time. I'm sure you could use just about anything as long as there is drainage. The hanging planter I made for the strawberries is working great. Stays damp for a long time, and the sun heats it up, which makes the soil nice and warm, it it loaded with flowers. I still have one more hanging planter and a flat of strawberries but no place to hang it.
I suffer BIG time with HOT flashes and night sweats. I have tried everything over the counter and scrips from doc and nothing helps. So I saw an advertisement on this stuff called i-cool, hormone-free for menopause, today is only day 3 and it says it takes about 12 weeks to get full effects. So we will see happens. My grandma and my mom never went through menopause, so it skipped to generations and landed on me yay :(. Yesterday when mom and I were working on the monies, she looked at me and said "You're neck is all red are you having a power surge? Yessss mother!!! lol She says I'm like a thermometer, you can see the red creeping up my neck, ugh!!
Well must finish making little May Poles, have 50 strips of ribbon to curl.
Cindy, I hate those power surge's! I have not found anything that works either. I have heard several ladies say that black cohosh works, but it did not work on me. That is another one you have to take everyday for a long time.
Thanks for the screen tip, I did not think of that!
Post pictures of those may poles please?
Woa Cindy. Poor you with hot flashes. I'm over that, thankfully! Don't want waking up screaming to turn the a/c on, when it's on, and finding myself soaking wet.
Didn't take anything for that, but ate lots of soybean products, like tempeh and tofu and drank soybean milk. That helped some.
Go give your mother's team captain a piece of your mind before you deliver the maypoles. You might need one to knock some sense into his head!
LK, I do have 2 email accts. Google and Yahoo. As I had said, I only used Kel's email if I'm paying a purchase with his card. Moreover, he is aware of the plant, and should have passed that info to me.
How are you sistah? Feeling much better?
I am doing OK, just can't seem to get the stuffyness out of my head and nose! Not coughing too much, but lots of sinus drainage!
Did you try the garlic method. That will clear your head up.
I did, it has not worked yet!
Oooh.. you got a bad one LK.
I went through menopause Twice..... Once when I had a total hysterectomy (one week of H)*&%) when I had to have 7 hot blankets put on me, cried my face off (would be fine one second and bawling my eyes out the next) and finally after one week, the HRT pills took effect. The 2nd time was 2 years later when I would be quietly sitting in the cool of the night on the couch and started sweating profusely. My sister Ruth said that's likely when Mother Nature had "programmed" me to have menopause and She didn't care that I had "the surgery" done.........it Was gonna happen when She said it would LOL
LK - sending healing thoughts to you.......warm and dry....... :-)
I started having mood swings, night sweats, etc when I was 39 that was in 1994, then 10 years later had total hysterectomy, the doctor put Premarin patches on me within an hour after surgery. That worked really well, but then I lost my husband and with him gone I lost medical insurance so therefore could not afford Premarin anymore. However, a last year when I qualified for Medicare my doc put me back on it but it just would not work and he tried another pill with it and that did not work either so I am screwed!!!!
Today would of been my 15th wedding anniversary :( Today is also Doug's grandma's 95th birthday, we are going to take her and his mom out for lunch tomorrow
Phooy have to go back to Micheals and get more ribbon for May Poles, I'm short 20 ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
hey ladies.
talke with Sistah' judy tonight .s he is doing well.
didn't have time to read everyone;s post but will catch up tomorrow
did two condo's and a office building today. pretty tired. I swear my face is shalacted with pledge !! i hate that %$%#@%*% IT. nasty stuff.
i smell like pledge and urine. yuck . many of them folks at the condo have cath's and well it can be messy. Old men dont' aim as well as the used too. LOL
so i m pretty tired.
seeing Cookie agian sunday. she forgot some stuff
hey ladies.
Old men dont' aim as well as the used too.
That's funny, Sue!! I'm glad you still retain some humor!
Cindy, don't you hate making that trip back to the store to finish up your project?
I was at WM across the border, and something told me to get the materials that I need there. But I didn't listen to myself, thinking this area's WM will have the same.
Wrong. Now I have to order it online, and the waiting!!
Heavy thunderstorms since 4 and I took a long nap. Made up for the lack of sleep yesterday and I'm pretty sure, I'm doomed for another sleepless night!! Oh well, think I'll take the couple of sleep aid, that I had got for just in case!
Right now I'm following the NFL drafts :D
hey ladies.
Old men dont' aim as well as the used too. LOL
I agree - Such a sense of humour LOL And you're right...... they Don't! (remember, I'm married to one - an old man, that is roflmfao)
I still get hot flashes at my age and Ithink it is so unfair!!
I'd be jumping for joy if I only had $25,000 left to pay on my house. It is 3 bedrooms and 1 small bath and at times I feel so cramped If there won't be any SS left I might as well give up as that is only what we are getting.
Got a call from the oncologist, we won't home so he left a message, that DH's PSA has climbed up high again and he wants to try another cancer med. and I don't think we will be able to afford it. Will know tomorrow after he sees the urologist and we check on the price of the meds what will happen. Talked to a gal when we were at Lowe's and she said she is on a chemo med that costs $5,000 a month but her insurance pays for it. Cost of drugs have gone out of sight.
Pegi, so sorry to hear your DH's PSA has climbed again...
There are Cancer treatment centers that are not $$ oriented - maybe there's one in your area that will help your DH with treatment?
Thanks Susan, I see those cancer treatment centers advertised all the time. We will just see what our share of this new med would cost. Even the doctor said he didn't know if we could afford it then he would try something else. After tomorrow we will know which way to turn.
Here's hoping some one of your DH's Drs can help - I know help is out there, it's just finding it, I know......
http://www.cancer.org/
Pegi, please go to this link, there is all kinds of help out there. Find a local number for your area, and start asking questions!
Pegi, I agree, check out everything. Medicare paid most of Ross' expenses and his secondary covered the rest. Aren't the price of those drugs outrageous! Then again, when you think of the time and research , are they really? Who actually knows. Ross' monthly shots of Lupron was $3000.00 each back in 2004.
Oh my............ LK - great that you found a link for Pegi!
Marion - that's a lot of $$ to have to spend, but worth it for a loved one, for sure........
I remember when my sister (back in 2000) had to pay $2000/month for a spray that was made in the US and not available in Canada, for her lung cancer. There were only 5 people in Canada diagnosed with this type, at the time. It had a shelf life of 2 weeks, and she got put on a waiting list for it. There was only so much made and she knew when she got "bumped up" the list it was because someone didn't need it anymore........... sad, but true.
She ended up taking the med for about a year, and had to stay in a separate room for an hour and no one else could go in for a couple hours afterwards because the physicians didn't know how this "inhalant" would affect anyone else.
Medications Are amazing, and to find an inhalant that works on cancer is truly something..........
Good Morning Ladies,
Although not a good one for us......Doug's grandma passed away about 6:30 last night, on her 95th b-day, Bless her heart.
Now it may look like Doug and I will have to move out of here. It seems every time we talk about doing something, something happens that prevents us from doing so. HUD is holding the loan on this house and we may not be able to continue living here because of their "rules". I know we can move in with my mom, but OMG!!! it will be way too stressful on me. For now I am just going to take one day at a time (don't know how much time we have) and deal with it the best I can.
On top of that, yesterday we found out our neighbors dog had been hit by a car. He was Harlee's "boyfriend". He went missing about 3 weeks ago. Mike had put out all kinds of fliers. Well Wednesday he was riding his bike along the levee road and spotted "Teddy" laying by the train tracks. That just broke my hear big time, then we lose Nanny. Of course I am not going to do any more work on the yard until I know for sure what is going to happen.
Have a good day Ladies
(((((((Cindy)))))))) What a day for you & Doug...............
losing your grandma, your home, and then Harlee's "boyfriend"................. Move in with your mom? no............
So sorry Cindy! Sending lots of prayers your way! Hope you can find a place to move soon!
Pegi, so sorry to hear of Darwin's setback. I hope you'd find a very affordable program. (((((((((((((Sistah))))))))))
I just don't understand the high costs of treatment. Most of these researches on cancer meds, are paid by govt. grants. Seems a wonder to me how drug companies in this country jack up the prices at unrealistic rates.
Same drug companies, like Pfizer, do sell their products too in France. And as you all know it's free health care there. And being their main customer is the French govt., I'm sure they can't sell them @ astronomical costs.
So.. are these drug manufacturers making profits here because the govt. watchdogs just close their eyes or are they taking advantage of the insurance companies?
Marion, it's good that Ross had a secondary health insurance.
Depending on the state one lives, my BFF with breast cancer had no insurance. She was 36 when she had that C word.
But somehow, owning a business, and part of the sales tax slated for education, there's this "Gold Card" program, where the uninsured owner could have practically free treatments at selected hospital. Her months of treatment and meds at Houston's Anderson didn't make a pauper out of her. The most she paid OOP for her meds is $80.
Cindy, I'm so sorry over your many losses. First, give my sympathies to Doug. His grandmother's in a better place.
I do hope HUD will find a way for you both to stay. Isn't HUD available for those with low income? Hope you both qualify.
Don't think you'd want to return to your mother's. You were pulling your hair all the time you're with her!
Susan, LK, are you both on the mend? Perhaps you need some hot toddy with some JD!!
Cindy, sorry to hear about Doug's grandmother.
Cindy, I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending hugs and prayers.....
Cindy, sending prayers and hugs along with those before me..
Jaye, that hot toddy sounds good! It is a lot better today, still a little stuffed up, but not bad. Lets pray it keeps getting better now! 2 weeks is long enough for this crud!!!
