:) Mine get too much sun and they get a sun scald virus. They are still edible - just look strange. I have some shade cloth to put up but spend all my time watering instead! Will it EVER RAIN?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I know we went from drowning to nothing again this year... just crazy

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

We need rain bad

We have zucchini squash, lettuce, green beans and bell peppers so far.

Thomaston, CT

My peppers are only blossoming.....

We also have pesky squirrels so I was happy to be able to pick the bell peppers without the squirrels getting them. I've been spreading this stinky pest deterrent around so maybe that did the trick. A couple of times I've even opened up the back door to find a squirrel bright eyed and perky right on top of my miniature greenhouse I have on the back stair. They dig in any container that has dirt in it. They expose the roots of the plants. I'm not sure what they are looking for... grubs maybe? I posted one picture on here of a piece of pizza they half way buried in one of the potted plants of basil I have sitting on the stair railing (haha). My partner actually found another piece of pizza buried in a potted plant this week. It's rather quirky of our squirrels. LOL. I don't have anything against squirrels, but I just hate them eating my produce that we spend so much time nurturing and cultivating for ourselves.

They are awful around fruit trees!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

not just you Xen... I have a few tubs around.. one in the back of my yard has lilies, and some annuals I planted in it this year.. the tub was dug up almost to the bottom.. glad the lilies bloomed already.. but hope they don't trash them.. I sprayed it heavy with liquid fence on the soil .. hopefully it will keep them away

I went to the farmers' market out here yesterday. Sooo much fun and the veggies and fruits were soooo fresh and appetizing. The nurseries that had booths were well stocked. I was amazed that you could get 3 jms in 4"pots for $10. There was a jm maybe a bloodgood about 4' tall that was $15. I really didn't check out the varieties available cuz I didn't want to be tempted.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I really want to get to our farmers market.. if I could just remember to do it

Thomaston, CT

Ours is OK, nothing special....love the ones I go to with my niece who lives near JoAnne....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Love our farmer's market, can find all the Polish and Russian goodies just like where I used to live

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

There were probably at least a hundred booths. It was very fun. I got a huge head of red leaf lettuce for $1.25. It filled a whole plastic shopping bag.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow, good deal

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I got it from the first booth I saw that had lettuce. Of course then I saw a bunch more, but they were all more expensive so I was very happy.

Cucumbers....just making a big batch of dills.....

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

We have a lot of wild raspberry bushes popping up. Which could be a bad thing. My husband got rid of our gient tree limb brush pile and the raspberry bushes must of been lieing in wait. We have gotten a few raspberries and strawberries. All my strawberry plants are new and I shouldn't even let them set fruit but the kids get so happy when they can pick fresh berries. We also have some Alpine ones but I feel like they don't set a whole lot of fruit. They probably need more sun.

nice!

Few tomats are starting to turn red. Picked my first one. Its called a Slicer.

Thomaston, CT

You beat me...I have one slightly red...it's 4th of July....just a little late!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Any of mine that are getting red are also getting blossom end rot.

I have 68 plants, so the odds are just better. I have 3 ripe cherry tomatoes also. Yippee - they wont even make it to a salad :-)

Thomaston, CT

I picked the one that was orange on top...it was red on the bottom, so it's sitting on my window ledge....sorry, Memory....what caused that? Sherrie, I love just eating them off the plant, too.....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

My neighbor has been supplying me with Romas

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Lambs Quarters, cucumbers, hot peppers (gave to my neighbors), dill and nasturtiums in my salad. Waiting for tomatoes to get ripe - hurry up!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)
