My niece's MIL had a chuck for a pet.....took it in as a baby......think about the babies, Sherrie.......they're too cute to kill!

Monson, MA

Good Morning all, been eating lettuce (selfsowed from last year, I just bend over seed head), snow peas, parsley (waiting for butterflies, bent over seed head and have a great patch for them) blackberries, from plant to mouth, yummy!!
Met groundhogs eating my plants also, very tame, caught one in "haveaheart" and relocated, they like bananas!
Hopefully will catch other one, my neighbors will be glad to see them go also. Busy streets here and sure they will have an accident if left to roam.
Happy gardening all! :: ) =^.^=

Made a salad of three kinds of lettuce, lamb's quarters, purslane, basil, nasturtium, fennel and baby amaranth leaves. My co-workers call it "mowing the lawn" salad. LOL! (They should be so lucky!)

Thomaston, CT

Very healthy!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Being very pregnant and then giving birth this spring prevented me from any gardening at all. No weeding... nothing. My husband has done a decent job making it look ok out there but I see everything that needs to be done. My 6 week checkup is not until July 10th. Hopefully I can somewhat make up for it in the fall. Def. no veggies though :( I do have some perennial herbs I can use, oregano, chives, lemon thyme, english time. Unfortunately my parsley mostly died out for this year and hubby weed wacked the few plants that did come up thinking they were weeds. He did in all my blue penstemons too. :(

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

men, at least he tried to help with the weeds

Thomaston, CT

Oh, no, not the penstemons! Fresh veggies you can always get at the farmer's markets......

I have a few, small green toms, but no peppers yet....

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Took some mint in to decorate a fruit salad at work.

Thomaston, CT

I have orange mint this year that I like.....

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Yes, they finally have a farmer's market near me. It's at my favorite nursery... so could be dangerous on the wallet.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

lettace so far. DH is waiting for his peppers to ripen. I have tomatos forming, and lots of cucumber bloosoms

Thomaston, CT

Yellow & green summer squash will be ready in a few days....

Nothing. 1st we get heat and then the heat goes. Again and again. Lucky I have anything due to sawdust and nitrogen. I will post some pics - maybe

Stamford, CT(Zone 6b)

The only t hing I am eating is basil and some dill. Someone (or some thing) else has enjoyed my first semi-large green tomato. If I actually ate nasturtium in salads, we'd be very healthy by now.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Is there anything I can start now?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Braised rutabega, turnip and your collard greens in with my chicken legs. Put the whole thing over bulger wheat - yummy!

Thomaston, CT

Yes, Meredith....lettuce, Chinese greens, green beans....

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

DH tried one of his mini chocolate peepers. didn't taste like chocolate at all.

Thomaston, CT

No, I think they just look like chocolate!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

thanks. he did say it tasted like pepper. I'll pass along the info, RD.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks Robin, I will try to get the garden going then.. I do like lettuce and green beans. I'm going to look up chinese greens.

Thomaston, CT

There are many different kinds, Meredith....I bought bok choy to plant this week....

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Cool, thank you for the suggestions!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Lettuce, swiss chard only take about 30-50 days so you could still grow them now. In August you could start broccoli, cauliflower ....cold weather crops.
My broccoli bolted in the heat last week so ill be planting it again next month.
Here's what the garden looks like now....will post a picture next month so we can watch the change. ^_^

Am still waiting on my squash....planted more green beans yesterday....

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

That's a nice big garden! I need to move my daylilies that were supposed to be temporary out of my vegetable garden. Then I will have more room.

Three varieties of summer squash are ready.....

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

How do you like to prepare it?

Thomaston, CT

One of the ways is...raw! Chop squash finely, add a cuke, tomatoes, red onion, and a vinegarette with chopped mint in it...very refreshing.....also I cook the larger squash in veggie broth with any veggies I have on hand...green beans, carrots, onions....when cool, I puree it & serve either warm or cold....I also stir fry, & make zucchini pickles....and family & friends take home a lot!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Wow those are all great ideas for me! Thanks. :)

Thomaston, CT

You're welcome!
