has anyone one heard that deer saliva has an enzyme that does not allow re-growth on plants? someone on another forum mentioned this and it does not come up immediately on any google search - i did find one mention on a garden blog

Debi this is a response to your post on Garden Projects.
Times have really changed. When my brother was born 70 years ago. My mother had been in the hospital 10 days and came home to stay on a cot on the first floor with him in the room.
My hospital stay was a week and I wasnt permitted anyone except my husband.
My grandchildren were born in birthing units with husband present and I could have been there on the labor deck, except I believe this is an important bonding time for father and mother and labor should not be witnessed by anyone, not even the mother LOL.
Modern times are great. Enjoy watching your grand daughter grow.

Times have changed! I can't say enough good about the NICU, even Leah's great grandmother could visit 22 hours a day, not that she would. They really encourage family involvement. When the nurse asked me to help, my mouth said yes, but my mind said no, I'll break her! I'm waiting to hear from David now, he worked today, so not sure if he came home after work or went right there.

thanks Jo.

Teachers & aides need special training & obviously are not getting it. Our 4th grade teacher would shout & was not rehired. she would not shout bad stuff, just when she wanted descipline she would use that method. It didn't help that she was Jewish & when at another job the summer before told someone that she would be teaching in our town. She was told that she would like it because 'there were no Jews there'. (Not true). So I expect that she came in with a chip on her shoulder, but also was not trained to handle a class as she should have been.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I am sure those teachers received plenty of specialized training. You have to these days to be certified as special ed. They are just creeps who should not be in those positions. They figure they can get away with anything.

That article was in my paper this morning.....poor supervision from the top down....my DH was in everyone's classroom every day, unannounced....he was also in the hallways, and in the lavs, in the cafe......obviously no one checking at that school.....today's principals are sadly absent from the places they need to be most often.......one that I worked for locked himself in his office for the entire day....kids thought the custodian was the principal....

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Ever see what their salaries are?
Sure arent earning it from behind a locked door.

Airlports needs to ratchet up the IQ's of airport security qualifications.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - at least to 'moron' level.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good news - I have regained feeling in my index finger. Bad news - it hurts more! That annoying tingly nerve pain. I prefer 'normal' pain.

Saw the doc the other day. One more week of stitches. My wife will remove them. Not being able to do any gardening is killing me!!

While traveling this week, my DH and I decided the TSA staff need practice, so we "opted out" instead of getting the full body scans. It took 15 minutes until they could do a "female" search.

I am friendly with a neuropsychologist who corresponds with the media on a regular basis about the effects of the procedures upon people with trauma and other difficult issues. She is getting more traction on moronic school officials and on attitudes about hoodies

Crossposted. Good news, Victor. You can come and supervise at our house any time. :) You'll be at it againin your garden before you know it!

Glad that your finger is improving. I can offer a painful heel in spite of a cushion jel in the shoe. Drink plenty of tonic water to help the tingle & best wishes for continued improvement.

Bill, thanks for telling me about Lazy S&S. I will check them out. Rosemary, I will also check out that Classic Viburnums in Nebraska, as well Looking for the V. juddii of my dreams....

Victor, sorry to hear about your big booboo. Yikes! Hate it when things like that happen. I once dropped a glass while getting it out of the cabinet. It fell on top of the microwave and broke, and then it landed right on my foot, up near the ankle. A big sharp piece went right into my foot, and it was sticking out. It broke inside my foot, and I had to have minor surgery to remove a couple of pieces. Had nerve damage for awhile, but finally got better. Not fun.

BA, I have a pair of cardinals that nest here every year. the female used to peck at her reflection constantly in my shiny hubcaps on my car. Later, when I got a different car, she began pecking at her image in my car's side mirrors. I had to resort to putting plastic grocery bags over the mirrors to keep her from going at them, as she was scratching the car doors and mirrors up, and was pooping all over the sides of the doors.

Debi, congrats on the new granddaughter! OMG! I can't believe that jerk in the truck did that to you. I know someone who has done that to people on purpose. They need anger management. I'm surprised your car wasn't totaled. Guess the damage wasn't bad enough. Glad you're okay. Did the driver leave the scene?

Victor, I'll pray for both your mother and MIL. You have a lot on your shoulders. I hope they both get well soon.

Ronnie, nice score on the free mulch! Sorry about your grandson, Ronnie. I will be praying. I'm sure everything will work out well.

Marilyn, I had the subscription fairy pay for another year for me, too. This was the second time in a row, and I had already paid for my subscription, so I'm paid up for 2 years now. Well, 1.5 now, as this was back in Oct., I think.

Jen, your niece is a beauty. I wish her well.

Celeste, still praying for Adam. Sounds like he's doing well so far.

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)
