Susan, I replied at the other building!! Sorry Sistah, I was busy doing stuffs before heading for bed :*(
Sue, thanks for the thumbs up on insecticide for my SOLE apple tree. I have 2 other fruit trees that aren't blooming at all. Loquats and apricots.
At least my blueberries (4) and Jap Persimmon have been nourishing me!!
Yahooo back Marion. It's from the site you sent me. If I have another $150 to spare, I can qualify for free shipping!!! Lolol.. but I don't think Kel can put up with a dollar burger for 2 months!!!
Going to bed soon,, didn't sleep at all last night!
۞Sweet Interruptions # 238۞
I replied "right back atcha Jaye", in the other room LOL
You've gotten me thinking now - can't you smell the burning? LOL
I know I forgot something...
Pegi.. I didn't mean to ignore you. Darwin's always in my prayers, and I know with him keeping busy, will take those worries off his mind. During the day anyway.
You both will be meeting new faces at the RU. That will be good for you two. Have fun at the RU.
Cindy, you got dmail!!
Oh Marion, I forgot to add, that it's supposed to be at my front door on 4/23.
Can't wait for a new baby plant... instead of another cat :D
Good night sistahs.
Good morning sistahs!!
Hot coffee, hot bagel, cool cream cheese for this fine Saturday morning.
I hope nothing's damaged by that hail storm, Cindy? May today bring out the sun for you.
Since I moved here, I've never experienced hail. Don't want to, had enough when I was living in Louisiana and Malaysia.
But I'll take the hail rather than hurricane or tornadoes. We know our homes won't get blown or swept away!
Having said that, may the rest of the year, mother nature not be so angry.
Me too Jaye, lol. The other day when I was taking mom to the doctor she said "Wonder what pi**ed Mother Nature off"
After the hail storm it cleared up and I was afraid it was going to freeze it was so cold out!!! Sun is shinning today and weather man said we are drying out and going to be in the 70's next 7 days. Nothing was damage, not even my Columbine, but mom said it ruined all the tulips and daffodils at her house.
sue, i think you're right
and I believe that's why they graft apple branches - male & female, so you should only have to buy one......
Alrighty sistahs.. as for the apple tree, when I bought it, the nursery (a local reputable one) told me that it's self pollinating. So I need only one. I asked him again, and he said, exactly like our Susan had described.
My infamous MIL had a self pollinating apple tree that bore fruits. She cut it down after she got enough of the neighbourhood kids begging for free apples.
But her apples were very tart. And she never had to spray it, thats why Kel was surprised on what my church sister had suggested.
I would love to get another fruit tree. But not peaches. Maybe I'll get another Jap persimmon. I could dehydrate those fruits too.
well i m glad you only need one. Thank you Susan for teaching us. I do beleive there are apples that are more hardy and disease resistant . i have never heard of self pollinating apple tree's but i m glad you have one . oh i m jealous of your apple tree. Hmmm me thinks i may need to get one.
i love persimons
i do have some fig tree's but it will be awhile before they fruit. i killed my last fig :( this year it would have gotten fruit :(
Sue, I forgot that I do have fig trees, from my old home in Louisiana. But they're only 2 ft. tall!!!
If not for Sis Carolyn, I won't have figs!!! And she gives me pecans too.
My pecan tree got so infested that nothing could save it. Must be a low quality one.
sorry your pecan tree got infected - no pecan pies in your house, I guess........
and a fig tree?! kewl-ishisness!! (new woid!)
Plenty of pecans, donated by my church sister :D
I just have to shell them, and I'm so grateful to her, as she gives me figs and sometimes chestnuts too.
glad your church sister is so good to you
Mine just did my taxes for free. And I didn't give her all the paperwork, so I had to scrounge around, and send her several emails...... my paperwork had fallen behind my desk, so didn't find it right away......... She has a lot of patience, does my church sister.........
OOoh that's a nice yellow ochre colored truck. Liking that white walls.
Did you get a tan, LK? Or the temps not too high? Did Todd treated you to a fabric store, since you're gracious enough to accompany him to the show?
There are no hot rod shows around here. Building and maintaining hot rods must cost a pretty fortune these days.
Sue, did you laugh at Lucy?
I'm blessed that there are still some deer that show up some mornings, as next to our property is a hunting club :(
Surprisingly, these deer do not destroy any of my plants.
Well, it didn't rain for our round up, but it was chilly. Some of the gardeners couldn't make it, but we had a nice time and shared a lot of plants & seeds. Good food and good company. I was going to spend a lot of time today gathering up all my new plants and get some seeds started, but guess some of the work will have to wait. Got some seeds for a Texas Ebony tree, and although I just don't have room for trees I'm curious enough to see If I can get some started.
DH seemed to enjoy the day, especially the food. LOL
Texas Ebony Tree? That sounds awesome! I'll have to Google that........
No tan, it was warm, but pretty clusy all week end, and no rain. Yep, we went to hobby lobby, and another quilt shop, but the prices of quilt shop fabrics are so pricey!
yummmmmmm easter candyyyyyyy................... lol
It's good that you and Darwin enjoy the RU. Made new friends.. collect new seeds.. and well fed too. What more can you ask in a RU.
So, when's the next one? Did you get any plumeria and brugmansia cuttings?
Awww Sue, you don't need doughnuts. What you need is some celery stalks!! That will cure the munchies.
Sorry about your hostas becoming deer food.
That's terrible ain't it, LK, about the soaring price of quilting material. Sometimes, I'll find material at specialty quilt shops that's less quality than VIP that's sold at WM.
The weave is getting less threads per square inch. Guess one has to pay the designer.
Thankfully, I still have a huge stash where I don't need to get more.
Gonna take 2 Lamalin, my back went out of whack!! So, I'll bid you all a goodnight.
Sleep well sistahs.
Huge stash here, too
I have some Japanese prints - some look like grey tweed.......... and I can't remember the Japanese designer's name....... a guy, is all I remember LOL
Good morning sistahs!
Up and around since 6 this morning. But I had a good night's sleep having drugged myself.
Coffee is ready. Regular strength, and plenty of fig preserve to go with your wheat toasts.
Can't afford to laze around on a Monday morning. Cut some strips to be mailed later.
Will continue to sew this afternoon, AFTER I've worked in the garden. Oh well, better take Benadryl now, before the sneezing starts...
Sistahs I pray this week will be kind to you.
casey knocked me off my feet. i can hardly walk. think i hurt meez hip. hope not. the goats got out 4 times over the weekend, before we realized they were using the ladder
i peel my celery before i use it. i hate strings
Thanks for the coffee--I sure need it this morning. Unfortunately I didn't sleep very well last night---report on Mom wasn't the best and yes, it has me bothered.
Kathy, take care of that hip!!! It is scary when you take a fall anymore. While I was at my sisters the last time, one of the cats ran between my legs throwing me off balance. Thank goodness I was able to catch the hand rails that had been put up for Mom.
Things to do so guess I had better get stated.
Lolol Sis Kathy!!! Yes, goats do climb!!! My grandad had goats and they'd climb on the wooden benches and the picnic table!
Rest that hip. Don't overdo yourself.
Sue, one day, I'll connect with you via phone and Kel needs to tell you of "The Celery Episode".
Praise God Tim's gainfully employed. That must be a big relief sistah.
Sending prayers that your mum will rest in comfort Marion.
You just return, guess you'll be soon on your way back there?
Yes, cats tend to weave around your legs, and I try to look down when walking! A hefty walking stick helps too!
The cats learnt NOT to get too close to Kel when he's mobile!!
Sending prayers for your Mom Marion....And for all in need.
Thanks all, at this time I am not sure what I will be doing. I will know more during the week. Basically, my sister thinks she is just tired and has given up.
Morning everyone! Thanks for the toast and coffee Jaye!
Sue, sorry about the deer eating your hosta's!
Kathy, sorry about your hip, praying it is not hurt too bad, but if it continues to hurt, please go have it checked out!
Marion, (((((((((HUGS))))))) and prayers to you for your Mom. When are you driving back down?
'Morning LK. I have not made plans at the moment to go back down. My sister and I have agreed to see what is going on this week (of course unless there is a drastic change) before making any plans.
Picturing Goats On A Ladder LOL It bears repeating - Goats On A Ladder?
What's next - will they shingle the roof? LOL
sorry to hear about your hip, Kathy........take care, please
Marion - prayers for your dear Mom & all your family. Sue must be 'beside herself" with this....
No plumeria or brug cuttings, Jaye. I did mention plumeria just before we left to return home and everyone is depending on me for cuttings now. No one seems to be having good luck with them, so I'm hoping I can bring some next round up, another year from now,. My brugs aren't doing well, better make sure they get more TLC.
After all the cool weather and rain the temps. are going up and we shall have some 80 degree weather. DH is looking forward to warm days hoping his bones will quit aching.
Pegi same here for Doug, this past week with all the rain he has had his little heater going. I have been sleeping on the couch because I suffocate!!! even with the window open on my side of the bed. I'm really sick of the couch, so glad it is warming up maybe I can get rid of the heater??? When Doug was in the Army he was stationed in Germany and was working around some radiation equipment and got zapped, so therefore his bones don NOT hold heat. it can be 100 outside and he still gets chilled yea UGH!!!!!! Been working on flower pots so I can finish the strawberry planter.
baby chicks will be here tomorrow. hope i'm ready
sis jaye, as soon as i get time, i will be butchering male guinneas. you will have to come for gumbo and tater salad
